Wow, this gentleman spoke so bravely and intellectually about the concerns of a population we don't often hear from in the United States. The data he shared on incarceration is just heartbreaking. I wonder if there is any location in the world where the indigenous people were not hurt, harmed, and oppressed as a result of the immigration of white people.
He went one statistical level down a rabbit hole that requires much more nuance and careful consideration. He didn't make an argument. He just regurgitated the same drab that anyone who spends 45 minutes of research can drum up.
Me and my friend, both coloured, and from sydney, drove through cootamundra on a road trip over 10 years ago. We were steadily driving through the town (40-50kms) with many other cars in front and behind. A police car was driving in the opposite direction and eyed us out. He then u turned and followed us for a good minute or two before pulling us over. He asked for my licence. He then began searching around my car and asked if we had been drinking ( no breathalyser) and went back to his car w my licence for 2-5 min. He said little to nothing apart from asking for my licence. He then returned and gave back my licence and sent us on our way. There seemed to be no practical reason to stop us. In fact it felt intimidating, almost routine. He never explained to us why he pulled us over. Only in hindsight do i feel this is how and maybe all police officers approach coloured people. There are only two ethnic groups in coota: white and indigenous. Anyone think im looking too much into it?
Now, try to remove "coloured", "ethnic groups" from your statement, you will find that police's breach of power does not constitute so-called racial profiling
The statistics can't be denied. There are problems but how to adress them. Generalisations don't show the people that don't fail and are succesfull If you studie the diversity within the group you will notice that not onley the circumstance but more importantly individuel choices predict if you will fail or not. If a white person choices for , no education .party drinking and drugs, crime the outcome will be the same . Everybody knows right from wrong and you have a free choice. The solutions can onley be found not at group level but at individuel level. Victimhood won't help.
with your logic, you could argue that they are committing these crimes because of oppression.. because of the way they are treated, the lack resources they are given etc. its been 5 years since your comment I hope you have grown a better brain since.
Why, because he's telling the truth? I see this pattern all over the world. If you can only stand tall when someone else is on their knees, you have a very serious problem.
It's pretty ironic his entire presentation is on oppression yet he works for a university which locks careers behind a paywall and also contributes to racism and privilege issues. I can't take someone serious who actively is getting paid by a system that creates and causes oppression for those in poverty.

What a passionate and intelligent young man, the world would be a much better place if there were more of him. Very cute too.
+Nina Hallas lol, if you were a man youd be called a "pig" for that cute comment jk

Life started in Africa, along followed slavery which for some odd reason exists in Africa still but not America.. maybe bc whites didnt come up w it.
You're delusional
That's not how it worked at all. But thanks for showing us you failed history.
These comments are wildly ignorant and embarrassing.
No, I don't think so. People who colonize and dehumanize others don't want to their sins to be exposed.

Unjustifiable racial profiling. I am angry for you Sam.

coloured? Wtf. You are exactly your yt privelage. It's Ppl of colour.
The police do the same thing to African Americans in the U.S. This type of state sponsored terrorism has gone on in the U.S. for generations.
Why do indigenous people get treated like that in their own countries. Here in Canada too
It’s not their country. It’s European country

He literally gave solutions, such as implementing the recommendations of the RCIADIC and ending the NTER
This video leaves with you no understanding of institutional racism or how it can be solved.

Must be nice to be able to speak!!;
Maybe they are incarcerated because they committed crimes not because of systemic oppression...

Systemic racism is a causer of crime capitalism is criminogenic espeically when majority oppressed minorities.
