I started playing chess three decades ago and i remember i was eager to play the sicilian with black (especially the Svesnikov). Unfortunately, all those woodpushers inevitably went for the Alapin...and they crushed my soul so badly that i started to push the c-pawn just one square up. The C-K served me so well that i never played the sicilian again (except one time, because i was sure my opponent wasn't going to play the Alapin!)

@@ericastier1646 Agreed. Hindsight is always 20/20… but sheesh, keep some of those comments locked away haha.
And, not to point fingers, but there is certain GM that has a, let’s say, shrill voice. In my own opinion, they should stick to playing and not commentating. I couldn’t continue watching because of it. There’s a skill that comes with being a commentator, and they certainly don’t have it. I can see why people, myself included, are moving towards the games with zero commentary.

And i agree with the unsuitable shrill voice but also the typical united state over the top judging others without a an ounce of modesty, same thing happens during summer olympic games in terms of US commentators judging athletes as if they were stable horses and beeing very arrogant. Speed chess is the future. Giving plenty of time for the players to make the best possible moves in every position is undoubtedly the best way to find who’s the best at chess. But.. For the players and the viewers it’s simply too much time. Larger brackets quicker matches will make chess exciting. Quicker games larger brackets means more players more action more upsets more viewers more sponsors more money and larger payouts.
