Somebody give the commentator a raise this was beautiful
Annoying

I agree.
He also has a badass name
He's not a complete novice. I am a complete novice, and he knows a lot more than I do.
This was the most pathetic commentary ever. Are you on drugs? Or do you have a childlike judgment? The basics of voice modulations are heavily missing. I don't care about his accent, but the grammar of commentary is missing.

Amazing how Vincent flawlessly made use of Magnus' blunder.
It's one thing to get an advantage but it's still extremely tough to bring it to victory against the strongest player in the world.
First step was to complete his adventure, then only after could he defeat magnus carlsen
the most amazing part is how everyone's panties get wet when someone wins against magnus when he makes some little mistake. and how everyones world revolves around stufying chess like professors without sleep trying to beat magnus. and in the end magnus just plays without care beating all the dummi3s without much effort :-D :))))

The commentator needs to work his way to the highest form and platform of chess show downs. So engaging and the way he calls the game, it's like he is calling a sports game, like soccer, or hockey or football. I'm not a chess player but can appreciate experts in their craft. The never-ending cycle of new blood doing their best versus a decorated but uninspired champion. Good for the challenger, and great commentating.
Interesting how one can have a feeling without words and read a string of vowels and consonants that eloquently expressed that feeling, bringing it even more to the surface. Thank you 🙏

Fantastic performance by Keymer, no question. He's an exceptional athlete in chess, a great guy to boot. But let's say what happened and what is the biggest enemy of a player of Magnus' stature with the corresponding consequences, who for the last few years has been toiling only in such arenas : he got bored.
It's not arrogance. It's a lack of motivation. It has announced it itself in the years before. And you just have to forgive such a great player, who lives his whole life in this 8x8 matrix. Vincent can't believe it himself at 15:04. At some point, when you've won everything and made history, the deadliest of all thoughts creeps up inside you: why all this? It's a question of meaning. And it's up to Carlson's level to draw the consequences.
My thanks and respect to both players.
By the way, I think that Nb3 was not a blunder, but simply a mistake.
Great commentary. If you close your eyes, it could also be a boxing match ;-)
I think Nb3 is a blunder at GM level because it led to a decisive endgame for white. For lower rated players, sure, you might label it an innacuracy/mistake
If this guy's bored... he'd better stop his circus and stop entering competitions! He's an unbearable bore... Did he make chess history?... SO WHAT??? I can't stand his lack of respect !!!
It was a blunder. If it was out of boredom, it makes no difference. It’s no different than if it was out of tiredness or a lack of concentration. Doesn’t matter. He blundered and his opponent made him pay for it. Obviously that blunder holds no bearing over Magnus as a chess player. Blunders happen because nobody is perfect. Not even Magnus.

How is he disrespectful?

@@prometheus_4606 well first off, so far, with me, the above commenter, and the likers of such, there are 5 folks who at least feel the same way about your insinuation, so i'm certainly not some lone wolf in such. but beyond that, sure you're as welcome to feel however you want as much as magnus is welcome to completely obey all the rules and act just how he acts, which is his way and doesn't contain any *necessarily defined* act of disrespect. he wasn't late here but when he is, does it force him more into not over thinking in a way that works for him? did he have explosive diarrhea? does it force something psychologically of the opponent and offer advantage? does it abide in something else we don't know? who knows and who cares, he is ultimately the one who must accept the results of such. but by all rubrics he's wayy more possessing of social manner, non-primma donna 'tude, and formal respect, in the arena, press, and between-life than most of the world champs have displayed, esp some of the cocky russian ones.
Magnus probably never knows how much effort to put into a game so he doesn't go full steam all the time. I can see how chess must be exhausting to have to focus 100% on every game. We'll have to watch these two match more times to see if it's a pattern or a miscalculation of effort. No doubt Magnus will take Keymer more seriously next time.
Vincent has finished school only this year. Now he can play chess full time, I think he will improve. Good luck for him!
Vincent is very good in converting when he has an advantage. Shame he played Magnus so early in the tournament.

What a solid chess! Well done Keymer
Vincent is 18 years old. The title says it. He has a great future, yet unwritten.
It's kind of wrong to say that, it puts him on a treadmill with a pre-programmed speed and a chai. Let him become what he may. Paradoxically the best thing to say is there is no guarantee he will still be in the sport in 5 years or keep his level.
I’m so used to the commentary I can’t watch any other channel for chess. I have learned a lot
Shocking blunder by Magnus and great follow through by Keymer!
Great commentary, excellent play to take advantage of a bad move. Its one thing to make an opponent pay for a wrong move, its another to ride that bad move into a victory for yourself vs one of the best to ever play the game. Well played.
This guy's play-by-play can't be beat.
He's the GOAT
The absolute best part of the whole presentation!
Age and attention, plus you can tell he wasn't taking his younger and less experienced opponent as seriously as he normally should. It shows that 100% Keymer > 95% Carlsen, approximately. as their ELO ratings would suggest. 2701/2835 = 95.3%. Carlsen should remember how much handicap he can give to his opponents in the future.
Very well done with the commentary!!
Superb commentating and visual examination of potential moves

I love the emotional layer added by the commentator, its makes it 100x more interesting to watch!
at minute 15 36, i would play king to E7, lots of options after, could of given magnus a win, just by playing the king, forcing a check by vincente or breaking vincentes strategy, on wich vincente could rush a check on magnus king, resolving in a dead night then magnus pushing the tower to b1 to defend the pawn for a queen or bait vincente tower. Or, i would play at the same 15m and 36 sec, a push from magnus tower to b1 with intention of pushing that tower of vincents away or again baiting his tower, with magnus pawn by pushing it to b6, or his night to E6. Just my opinion.
What a superb commentator 😊
why was time added to both clocks at the 20:41 mark of this video?
After 40 moves, clocks are reset.

I loved the commentary. Great explainations.
25:30 can someone explain to me why K to c3 would lead to a draw? Im new to chess and I want to understand why and how it would lead to a draw. thanks
fyi in case you didnt know now and for people curious- because after the black knight takes pawn with check, white and black trade off each others passed pawns in the b and d file. after that it turns into a rush to get to the advanced f/g pawns which black will win because his king is closer. then when the white king does catch up he has whats called a backward f pawn that will have no chance of promoting. i figure that was the extent of the calculation they were doing, cause it seems like a basic endgame. high level gms grind a lot of different endgame scenarios and there are certain positions which are well known draws.
I guess three little rules.
1- B king is too close to the promotion pawns.
2- W K is way weaker than the B K.
3- W king is useless.
maybe what we are seeing is carlsen vs kasporov
this is fantastic commentary, good stuff!

You can tell more about Keymer's ability in closing minutes. Calling it blunder but the position is such you have nothing but dogfights. 18 you have to figure he starts playing around five to beat Carlson. He went for it, didn't mess around. You wonder at that level how much is poker because that's exactly how you go about that. Ability to train now is probably different then any time in history, and you wonder if the best should only play blitz in tournament, regardless of not making best moves. It might be at that point.
You have no idea what you're talking about ... the move turned an even game into a sure loss for black, thus it was a blunder.

11:10 this was a mistake. Instead of taking The pawn with the knight, it would have been better to use the pawn, so that the knight could still be protected.
