I bought one of these kits a couple years back and I always have issues with tear out (specifically between holes) and the drill bit constantly getting build up and jamming. Got any tips for helping with things like that?

Few things to try. Use different wood, change the speed of the drill or use sharper drill bits.

I have replaced the bit and used a few different kinds of wood and still get tear out and jamming. Very frustrating!

Try cranking the speed of the drill bit way up there. And avoid wood like ash or cedar which can be prone to splinters.

you can use tape over where you want to drill and that should reduce the tear out.

The trick to not getting the bit plugged is take the self-centering bit apart and drill out the part where the bit come out to 9/64”.
