Against a backdrop of fanfare & tumult, we receive our most exotic regularly scheduled carrier to date. Hometown Airline's attempts to foil or disrupt the inaugural were swatted away as if they were flies. From Doha cometh Qatar. Prepare to bear witness to the inaugural itself & a regular Saturday w/Qatar in our lives. A whole lotta shit goes down in this episode. Things you can't possibly imagine. Hey Matty, great video. The helicopter was an A-star (Eurocopter AS350) probably from one of the local news stations recording the A-380 in the new airline flying into ATL. The Blackhawk helicopters were neat but they have to guts when it comes to the sound of their engines. When they're coming up on you it's like "oh yeah this is going to be good" and as soon as they're over you you're like "where's the beef" atleast that's what I think. I'd of rather of seen two Apaches fly over, I love the Apache

Finally getting caught up with your videos again Matt. I was backpacking on the northern GA Appalachian Trails a while back and there were two black hawks buzzing us just above tree top level. They made two or three passes before returning to their base. likely on training mission of sorts

I thought something quite similar the first time you caught the 777 going to Lima, after I checked to see if that was life now for some reason. In other Delta 151 news that flight left on the runway immediately parallel to my 739s the last time I had arrived at the Maynard.

Matt that helicopter may have been shooting for a British TV program which has been going on the last 3 weeks called "city of the skies" it basically runs through the major parts in aviation! And they filmed in Atlanta because of course it's the busiest airport in the world! The Qatar was an awesome touch! Awesome vid again!

Yeah, +babybang17datruth is correct. Naturally I had no idea what it was doing at the time. But found out in the weeks following the arrival. So my query into the chopper's intentions is dated. Thanks good buddy! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

I'm excited that KAL is replacing the A380 to 748. I thought I would have to fly from to SFO to ICN to taste that beauty.
Sadly, very sadly that was just a temporary swap. I was pained to see the A380 back in action over the weekend. So it seems the days of the 748 are behind us and we're back to status quo Sidestick Monster Machine. It SUCKS!

It's sad but funny that ATL didn't have a gate ready for the Qatar A380. If Qatar gave the heads up a little more earlier, then they would have gotten the A380 gate. Or Delta might be still mad at them. o_O

FYI, David Garrett was instrumental in making Delta what it is today. He was loyal and was President when I worked there from 1980-1988 giving way to Ron Allen. Garrett should have his name on more than 1......nice vids however...
Oh I'm well aware! It's not David Garrett that I object to. It's the use of a small font signature on the cheek of a 777 to honor his contribution. I think we should have an active retro livery (not museum static display) that reflects the Delta of old. The classic "widget" livery. Other airlines do it. Why can't Hometown Airline? It's frustrating to have only 1 special livery (aside from SkyTeam). So that's what I'm objecting to in this video. Anyway, Thanks Dana! I really appreciate it!

20:21 hellllll to the yeahhhh, Straight up my style there, out of focus and whatnot on the UH-60 and the backlit cloudy sky, gives me flashbacks to 2014. The British T7 commentary was some of your best Matt that was beautiful, you should make a CD of beautiful compisitions like that, put in the background some of that rock N roll music you like, and release it as an album and have it sold at local K-marts and Wal marts and all of the various marts around Georgia and that would be on the Billboard chart before you know it; literally in today's online pre-ordering society.

I think from Day 1 of Emirates New ATL flights they'll fly A380s since they've got 80 in their fleet.

I used to watch planes at FLL back in the 1990's. Today, it is not as good as it used to be because they don't get any heavies anymore. That's why MIA is way better.

What a wide swing of videoed topics; from the 'hot' flight attendants of Qatar Airlines, to an audition for a 'new' antagonist to learn the ropes of how to push your buttons. Could this be a possible replacement for Bobby; I.E., a chubby faced Andrew. How was his audition, up to expectations, or will he need to study the process for a better understanding?

HA!!! Great question Timothy. I don't think this should be considered an audition, per se. More of a quick meet & greet. We'll have to work with Andrew a lot before he's qualified for the role of Bobby 2. His Dad, on the other hand, is a BRILLIANT candidate for Bobby's Mom 2. A former FAA Agent, he had some absolutely fascinating stories to tell. Stuff I'd never even thought about. Thanks good buddy! More craziness to come!
There is no freaking reason for airlines to have bought the A380 over the 748, it's just sad how something so ugly is able to fly more than the queen.

You were correct! Delta's majority of A330's are 300 with 29, but they have 11 A332's as well! Do you know why Qatar quit the A380 to ATL? The day it did fly there, they had a maze of passenger buses because the airport put the only A380-compatible gate in the bad hands of an A319. ATL blamed Qatar for not telling them they were bringing a large aircraft, and Qatar blamed ATL for bad planning. I agree with Qatar. I mean, ATL had 13 hours to figure out that QR755 was an A380! Not to brag, but we have A350's in Boston! And Irish and Italians and Swiss and Spanish and Portuguese and 748 germans. SUCK IT! Anyway, to figure out the Virgin's name, I type the registration into jetphotos.net, then look for pictures. It almost always works. And Virgin America has names too. We also get French B772's B77w's and A332's.

The A380 is only the first few minutes of the video. If you watch the whole thing you'll see a wide variety of aircraft. "Other planes to(o) you know", as you stated.

Ataturk is one of the Worlds Busiest Airports and the home of Turkish Airlines. I've been to Ataturk twice before and know it's one of the World's most Secure Airports and that flights are cancelled and the runway closed while the other is still active. Either Trump or Hillary In the White House ISIS must be destroyed and their hateful Radical Islamic Ideology extinguished from this Earth.

Awesome Video Matt! :-) Great that you caught Qatar Airways A380 inaugural flight arriving from Doha. I'm certain Qatar Airways will launch daily A350 flights to Orlando. Emirates will start daily flights to Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Raleigh NC, Baltimore and Philadelphia. It's very rude of Delta to block Qatar's inaugural A380 from using the sole gate for A380s at ATL. Delta Blocking Qatar Airways is like Donald Trump banning Muslims from coming to America. On a separate note Britain has voted to leave the European Union. President Obama said Britain would be last in line for a Trade Deal. If Hillary Clinton is elected President Republicans in Congress and the Senate must make it clear that a US-UK Trade Agreement is in the best interest of both our two nations.
