- Sunday, 5/31/2015 - Oh BOISES! Gives you an idea of how backed up my video production is right now. So we ended May w/a calamitous bang. On what was intended to be a storm/aviation combo, we find ourselves in combat w/wasp horde of massive proportions. Cinco storm shelters infested & lens splatter nightmares. Luke & "Shoehands" Grant fought for survival w/me. But I still left the airport in critical condition. Severe Sunday Grumpies. Perhaps the worst ever. Why, you might ask? I just got back from a scout trip to philmont so we flew in and out of denver then drove to Philmont which is a backpacking ranch in New Mexico. The flight to and from Denver was on an MD90. I was in row 30 going out and 31 coming back. Going out of ATL we were on the northside and we were racing star alliance lufty who was on the southside down the taxi way. That was the only cool thing we saw in ATL. But in Denver there were two 727s sitting rotting away on the ramp and you wont believe this. I SAW A UNITED EXPRESS E140/145 IN THE OLD BLUE AND WHITE COLORS. IT WAS NOT IN UNITED CONTINENTAL COLORS. I WAS SHOCKED. There were also United contitnental ATRs out there which were neat to see. Now for weather you would have liked: when we were out on the trails at Philmont we hiked into a thunderstorm mainly just thunder but we got some good lightning bolts here and there but it also produced pea and a half diameter hail. It was wicked. Keep up the good work Matt

I don't watch much aviation videos I prefer to be on on the camera myself taking photos but I do love your commentary so I try to watch all of your new videos you're a legend

I'm wondering if any of the local news agencies are opening a weatherman position for you. Good job tracking the rain cores and boils and pop ups. The end really had me excited. Matt, you are the fucking Bob Ross of aviation enthusiasts. Always catching the happy accidents. I'm interested to see your trip to the AT&T store, and to also see what the time lapse camera captured.

What an awesome video as always! Sorry for not commenting in so long. Idk why I havent commented but now i will start again! But yea I wish we got storms like that here in So Cal, we could only hope for that to happen here lol. Sucks you lost your phone :(
Barest video. I keep meaning to tell you this podcast that you maybe interested, it's called the airline pilot guy show, and he's a Delta MD80 Captain based out of Atlanta. Does a really good podcasts and you might be interested in listening to him on your way to and from the airport.

This was one bittersweet video, numerous go arounds, severe weather, then a new insect terrorist organization, and losing a cell phone. MAN! What an episode!
Lightning rain storms at the airport make you giddy, just like a parent giving you a five dollar bill in currency for your fifth birthday. Did you carry any loss insurance for your smart phone, or is the insurance itself to expensive? If nothing else ended up being a positive, the video itself, though a calamity, was extremely entertaining. Your assistants didn't push any of your 'buttons'. Hmmm; No Bobby! Did your combi. cameras both survive the deluge? The stinging insects probably have peaked your interest in provided yourself, an aerosol can of wasp and hornet spray. You can stand back 20 ft. or more, spray the nest, and eliminate the problem. The wet spray does linger for a couple of days. We all understand how radical weather affects all of us. Here in my neck of the woods, we had experienced 11.98 Inches of rain, just for the month of June. A storm last Saturday, which included wind-sheer, and micro-burst straight line winds. wiped out enough trees. electrical power poles, and downed power-lines, for 32,000 residents in the area. The last 2% of those just received their electrical service back on today the 1st. of July. Mother Nature doesn't ever want to play nice with the flights of long haul aircraft. Here is a link to a story about a Delta 747-400, which is a former 'Northwest Airlines' aircraft dubbed 'The Spirit Of Beijing', which was battered by playing 'dodge-ball' with ice balls in a hail storm; some 3 hours in time distance from the Incheon Airport in Korea. Hey Matt. Just in case you didn't know an Airbus a350 is scheduled to land at 300 pm 1500 tomorrow at the airport. It will depart again wed to ewr. Not sure where it's coming in from.

Dude I wanna come to ATL!!! Spotting at the end of 27L at London Heathrow is starting to get a lil boring now.
PS - Most 'spotters' on YT just stand there in silence watching the same approach for like hours. You commentate on the days events and actually make a trip to the airport hilarious!! Keep it up!! and don't stop talking!!
