- You’d be pretty crazy to say you DON’T want more performance and lower latency from your gaming PC, so the rather bold claims from AtlasOS sound awfully appealing. They say Windows is slow, clunky and unreliable, and more potently, “F**k Windows, Upgrade to Atlas”. They say it’s “Designed for gamers, with improved in-game framerates and lowered latency”. Those are some bold claims, but luckily I built an open source latency testing tool, so we can put those claims to the test!

Reminds me of when I ran Windows Server 2003 as my gaming OS and disabling services and manually assigning processes to certain cores.
bro i remember doing this. totally big brain back in the day. I also used windows 2000, which back in its day was the most stable windows OS that you could game on. of course, back then, we could do a lot more tweaking with OSes than what's being offered to end users of 10 and 11, which is why we're stuck pretty much hacking custom windows versions now.
I've done this back in a day as well. Best OS I ever used. Windows Server 2003 as workstation was a bomb :)
As a video idea of the same vein, consider comparing linux performance vs windows. I'd try two or three distros that are popular for gaming to see if you can just use an open source OS instead of ricing windows to make it 'better'.

I made 2 videos about Atlas OS running on Bulldozer and Haswell, it did help make those PCs more responsive to use, but the performance gains were very minimal.

I think its amazing. I installed it as a secondary win jntall on 2nd SSR just for games.this works great and gaming improvement is worth it
I am runnint r5 2600 w gtx 1660 s. on windows11 stock metro exodus run at 120 - 140 fps and on Atlas os it ran even 200 in some parts but i set it to 144 and it was all stable
sometimes resizebar makes huge different in 1% lows. warzone / valorant / csgo are gaining perfomance when enabling it. 4070ti / 5800x3d win11

I've used AtlasOS on some machine configurations from high-end to potato and I agree that it works. I mean, it's barely noticeable on high-end machines but it works quite well on mid-range machines and potatoes. In my daily machine (Ryzen 5 1600, 16GB RAM, RX570 8GB), AtlasOS also makes the machine increase FPS (though not much), I'm not sure about the latency (because the latency of stock Win 10 is always better than Win 11 ) but when I played Valorant, the 1% FPS actually improved. I hope you will test Atlas OS with Windows 11, and try benchmarking Valorant like what the Altas team did.

For audio latency (for audio production in windows) I have found atlasos/revios to drastically improve my experience and allow me to drop latencies by 10-20%
You wont see much of an improvement in gaming/fps on average, but you will see better 1% lows due to less background apps popping up
Got a project Acer Aspire one that I'm working on got 8gig and a m.2 nvme 250 gig SSD in it which windows do I use I heard you need windows 10 64bit to activate the full 8gig ram is this correct 😅
You need 64bit anything for +4gb ram.

Lite builds like X lite, Atlas, etc are made for low spec computers with 4gb ram and older CPUs. You are using a CPU, and K model lol, that most people would not have in their old desktops or low powered laptops. The only benefit with newer hardware like yours would be in telemetry performance, or windows background processes that start running in the middle of gaming sessions which on a modern K model cpu wouldn't even be noticed compared to much older hardware most people are using.

Where's the data on Win11 testing?
win11 == performance & security == bad.
Even if you address this issue some of them just install this on their secondary hard drive. If you like want to play competitive game you won't see any difference. Well of course you would see some tiny results in Minecraft but other than that I have installed it on my main computer and I am still using it. I got absolutely no problem with it. I installed Atlas before I even do debloating. I am happy with it now and it feels so faster even in my HDD. It feels like SSD. I also play Call of duty 4 Modern Warfare. Before I install Atlas I get maximum 40 fps while after installing I get about 70 fps with more tweaking I get maximum 80-90. Although, Great Video. Keep it up!
Edit: I also wanna address that it is only for Low end Laptop/PC. If you like have a high and you still don't care then just install it. Atlas only exist just to make Windows feel snappier like Windows 7. It's ram usage and memory usage is insane. If you like have 2 GB DDR3(more older laptop) installing Atlas iso would use 500 mb which is just insane.
I just bought a pretty good mid range pc that absolutely doesn't need atlas but i just hate all Microsoft bloat like copilot and edge so its still pretty good and i have the option to enable all security options

It is for Sure Faster Tested also on Laptops , Stock windows takes alot Resouces of your Maschine and MS telemetry Spy even Worse .
The Problem with Atlas OS is that no Grafic Tweaks Inside i got my own Nvidia Driver and many more that make Atlas OS then Perfect .
There is a new healing os coming out. I believe its called playtron os
0.4 of Atlas is more refined than 0.3.1 and has a lot more compatibility for security features
While gaming, in most scenarios it wont affect performance, however the desktop is much faster, and less background junk, I had a big issue with Microsoft Edge using 100% of my CPU, my games would stutter a lot, and since atlas, edge is gone and my games dont stutter anymore

your missing the point, this builds are great on budget builds with low disk space and/or ram, boot times also are a factor, fps and latency..maybe not

Nice video! but i accidently installed atlasOS and it was fine but now it crashing my pc every day with the same error that i cant find on Google. :(
removing microsoft edge is not a good a deal as you think, as some parts of the Windows UI rely on edge, or at least the edge system webview.
i run win7 for 6+ years with no updates and no defender or antivirus and never get infected with anything. So unless you know what you doing its probably best not to use atlas. Me in the other hand, found atlas to be perfect since I dont have to disable all those things manually that im gonna disable anywway.
I use it on multiple older laptops, it's a lifesaver. Atlas rocks

Thats windows utils, you can disable a lot of stuff there
I'm actually not terribly worried about security here. As long as your only gaming... And I mean ONLY gaming, you will probably be fine.
I don't think its spyware to be honest i mean atlas as well as ame wizard are open source so I won't worry
Why should you be limited to only gaming?
Unless you are specifically searching for websites to exploit your computer or trying to download and run software that is a virus, it shouldn't matter.
As far as I know Windows defender isn't going to do anything against a direct day zero attack because it's unintelligent... It just compares things that are running against an archaic library of viruses and tries to guess.

I been telling people for years it makes no difference, even had the creators trying to tell me different on my discord server, they won't listen and still insist you get massive gains with Atlas 😂😂 Good job.

For lower end hardware i believe windows 11 is alot slower both on stock and with AtlasOs so windows 10 is better
@@almaka17 we testet windows 10 vs 11 on best buyable hardware and win 10 ist much faster. Maybe even here could Atlas help, but i dont know

don't use it as a daily driver because some apps don't really work, directx doesn't work only the offline one does same goes with the office it does not work with cloud installation and adobe creative cloud too, it just doesn't really work

Actually tiny11 doesn't have performance tweaks like atlas or even revi so the performance is actually slightly worse almost like stock

It definitely is. My primary until recently was a 1680v2 @ ~4.5GHz and while I'd have to look up exactly how much of a benefit there was, it was definitely noteworthy. Honestly I genuinely don't think disabling these is much of a risk at all for average users but it really isn't going to help modern systems. Disabling defender is useful for benchmarking and more accurate readings tuning memory but this isn't hard to do manually. I wrote a batch script like 5 years ago that turns it on and off without issue.
@@JJFX- 1680v2 came out in 2013, i9 that i have was produced in mid 2020, though i have E5-2678v3 and it also feels bad after that update, i would rather recommend deleting 16-bit part of OS (the used for hibernation and startup) as it poses much serious security risks than CPU's backdoor. As i knew from a friend, i5-13900f is also fine after security mitigation
I don't remember since which gen, but newer INTEL CPUs have those mitigations baked into hardware

i used to run atlas and always noticed some weird hitches and random things that didnt work . now im on iot ltsc with zero tweaks and it feels more stable atleast for my usage. just games and browsing web..

I use LTSC win, still need a bit debloating and then its the best option IMO. Still original MS, thinking on Tiny 10, and other variants but I never pulled the trigger.
A no go on any computer where you are going to type in credentials. Windows is even unsecure enough with factory presets. I learned that the hard way.... On weaker hardware one can try Linux, its far less bloaty than Windows, far. I run Linux on 15 yo dualcore machines with 4 Gb Ram for office, media and internet browsing.

I just wanted to say that these results look either entirely made up. I say that because everyone else using everything else besides windows notices significant performance gains. Less cpu utilization. And less memory usage. Alot of this has to do with the fact that windows wether you turn of background services or not will run whatever they wish at any Givin time. Not to mention they run Spyware and phishware. So they can keep track of everything you do on top of collect your data and sell it. Anyone can look at tasks and see that on the low end windows run something like 150 to 200 processes. And after running for a couple hours and go back and check, now not only has cpu utilization quadrupled, but so hasn't the number of processes. The best part, no matter what you do, you can't stop it. And if you do. And windows 11 is even worse. The only ones that still hold windows in high praise are microsoft schills. I'm still on windows 11 and had windows 10 a short while ago. I'm making the jump to Linux. Because I can't stand seeing my system components be at 100% utilization or usage while playing a number of different games. I have tried all the examples I have seen to get similar results to what people are showing. And find it obvious when no matter what, it's always worse. Even when I have the same hardware. I strongly urge people to stay open minded and do their own research.

Also you CAN NOT disable defender in windows so when you cna not do something with app in your oc it's called spyware/junkware.
And one more thing. Windows security is a joke anyways. I highly doubt anyone that has or had a virus on their pc has been saved or actually protected by microsofts security. I have never seen anyone say its helped. If anything it hinders performance anyways.

I tested Atlas OS and was disappointed. I had a bad experience with Windows and games, so I reformatted and used Chris Titus Tech's tool. My PC is much better, nothing to see and nothing broken on the OS.

My Windows installation was brand new, so it seemed strange to me. It's true that there are fewer processes and that's great for small configurations and the system in general, but there's no photo, I have a better feel for the windows system with chris' tool.
I spent about 3 minutes skimming through this OS and found several vulns if you use this you have to get ur head in gear 😂

wrong... that is when you want to disable it because it keeps spitting out false positives ALL OF THE DAMN TIME.
If you are paranoid because of false positives, it is better you stay clear anyway, you probably are the type that is not able to tell trustworthy from actually shady sources.
No creator is going to make a large recommendation against it because of the general audiences but this isn't far off from the truth. Anyone who's fairly tech savvy is fine but I wouldn't strip it out entirely. That's just not necessary.

Good luck doing anything useful on your computer 10 minutes after boot on a 2 core celeron and hdd. Debloated Windows is snappy of 35th second (30 of which is booting with fast boot disabled).

DISABLING DEFENDER IS NOT RED FLAG. MICROSOFT DOES WHAEVER IT CAN TO FIGHT ANYONE WHO WANTS TO MODIFYIT'S COPY OF WINDOWS TO THEIR LIKING. Also im developer and my 100% legit, clean application is a TROJAN by Defender's opinion :) defender is CRAP
