    I have tried both and the iPad Pro wins because it is tailored around it's size. The pen has much less latency, touch panning and zooming is smooth as butter, and the app-interfaces are minimalistic, giving you more screen space. The accessory stand called Sketchboard pro gives you borders around the tablet for your hands to rest on and is a must for artists. The aspect ratio is 4:3 so both portrait and landscape setups feel natural.
    The Cintiq Pro has no business being only 16 inches. The aspect ratio of Cintiqs is 16:9 which makes them very wide, but it lacks top room. This is very inconvenient for artists that draw more vertically, like figure drawing, character design and such. Turning it into portrait position is a pain due to the cables and you don't get any space for your hand anymore. Then adding the pen latency and janky touch controls, it's not a very fun drawing experience.
    In short: Ipad feels more artist-oriented, where as the Cintiq is more for digital work stuff. You certainly can do good art on it but it's not fun. If I had to choose between Cintiq Pro 24 and a 16 inch iPad Pro, I'd go with the iPad in a heartbeat. Sadly a 16 inch iPad doesn't exist yet.

    • @matthewphillips5483
      @matthewphillips5483 Год назад

      What a ridiculous review. No professional artist worth their salt would pick an iPad pro over a Cintiq Pro. Cintiq and Photoshop are industry standard tools and this is not up for debate. You can use what you want but don't make up things that are simply not true.

    • @kwk111
      @kwk111 Год назад

      @@matthewphillips5483 plenty of professionals use an iPad for their work though. If we're comparing a 24 inch Wacom with an iPad then the Wacom wins by a landslide, but I maintain that a 16 inch pen monitor is a really awkward size for pro work. Menus clutter up the screen fast and there's not much room for your hand to rest, so it also takes up space. I have an iPad pro with the sketchboard pro accessory, that allows me to rest my hand outside of the screen, also the pen has less latency and touch navigation is smoother than on a Cintiq Pro. Speaking more charitably, it's a matter of preference, but yeah iPad pro does win in certain aspects

    This latency is due to the streamline feature in procreate.I have seen a lot of these vids , there is noticeably greater lag in drawing tablets that are attached to pc then the Ipad. This is due to the drawing tablets being connected as a display and not being the computer themselves.

    You forgot to mention about budget, Cintig pro is double the price and if you want the same smooth experience like on iPad pro, you need to invest a VERY powerful computer/laptop (at least has 32gb Ram) which is more money than the Cintig itself...so, you'll need 4x to 6x budget than the iPad on its own...

      This is such a critical point that should be highlighted, I never knew that part about integrating the Wacom with a PC requiring such high-end specs.

    • @NhiepKen
      @NhiepKen 2 года назад

      @@Waternar It's not wacom fault, software on PC required much more power to run smoothly, It's x86 architecture, and Ipad is run on ARM architecture. In some scenario, x86 can work with much complex data file, but now, with new 5nm arm architecture like M1 these gaps between x86 and arm are reduce to 0! Then if there are better apps for the job on iPadOS, you rather using ipad than a wacom, It's more power efficient and compact (but most powerful softwares are still have solution only on PC) so, it's depends, If you are graphic Designers, content creators, iPad is a better choice, but if you are 3D artist or architect or professional film editors, you are still stuck with PC

    • @Waternar
      @Waternar 2 года назад

      @@NhiepKen I see. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I would definitely have to go for iPad then. Now I'm not sure if the iPad Pro version would necessary. Do you know by any chance if a regular old iPad 4th generation can decently use the ProCreate app, hopefully as well as a modern iPad? I'm looking into ordering a stylus pen (same shown in this video) to test it on my old iPad.
      It would be appreciated if you can let me know any experiences you may have.

    • @NhiepKen
      @NhiepKen 2 года назад

      @@Waternar you better not pick too old device like ipad 4th gen, because It'll not be supported by Apple any longer, and hot app like ProCreate they have their updates to match the power of new Apple silicon. You should pick at least iPad Air 3 or later, because it has laminated screen (and it's better for drawing, color accurate), more RAM (more layers to work with), and better Pen latency. IPad 4th gen has quite old CPU and GPU so if Apple stop supported u'll have to work with old app or no app at all. Another choice is iPad 7th gen (you can easily got 1 around $200 on ebay! Pencil is the best choice (got pressure sensor) or you can find Gojoodoq pen's around $10-15 with tilt sensor (no pressure) good for writing and sketching with no pen pressure requirement.

    At the time of this video they still had clip studio for iPad which is a complete port of the desktop software to the iPad and you can animate and draw with. Also my cintiq pro does have 4K and i only need to use the usb c cable. And tbh I think it might just be me but it feels more fluid drawing on the iPad Pro and feels more like an actual pencil compared to the Wacom pen, but the only problem I have for me personally is that the iPad pencil has a rounded tip instead of a fine tip so it kinda feels like I’m using a unsharpened pencil but other than that both are really great and I would suggest the iPad if you want something portable without the need of a laptop or pc and just something you can sketch on. And like I said if you need it for animation you can use clip studio however the downside is that it’s a monthly subscription for the iPad version. The pc version is just a one time payment and they usually have sales.

    using apple pencil with 'streamline' option ON does not mean that you should use it rather for writing... if you play a little with apps and settings you find that ipad is superior in pencil accuracy, controllability. also ipad's monitor shows a lot of detail in dark colours which you are not able to see on cintiq and it's a sad thing from wacom's side.

  • @tqracing
    @tqracing 3 года назад +3

    Heh, you lost me when claiming the Cintiq is more color accurate and when downplaying the difference in latency.
    The Ipad Pro humiliates the Cintiq in terms of both color accuracy and latency. Ipad Pro displays are exceptionally good and well calibrated, with little difference between units, and somehow they even manage to hold that quality for a long time. As for latency, Wacom's latency is very noticeable whereas you'd have to look hard for it on an Ipad Pro.
    In regards to the pens/pencils I think Wacom's pen to be comparable to a thin lead mechanical pencil, that wears unevenly and gets scratchy. Wears down both the surface and nib, and feels a bit nasty at times. Apple pencil is more like a fine art pencil, where you can also use the side of the lead to draw with. The tip is a little blunt though, but easy to get used to.

    • @jackwinterson9801
      @jackwinterson9801 3 года назад +1

      Idk what youre talking about tbh. I have used both and the difference in color accuracy is not true. The wacom is 99 percent accurate RGB. The ipad is 104 percent sRGB which is a more narrow range. So, technically speaking, the wacom has more accurate colors and a wider range. Just blatant lies there. As for the latency i also have absolutely no clue what youre talking about. In terms of latency they are indistinguishable. In terms of the pen - the nibs wear down and need to be replaced. This is by design and not an issue. It doesnt pose a problem or cause any scratching unless you neglect to replace them. This also allows to choose between different nibs to produce a different feel depending on preference. theyre both great, its just preference. Neither is worse than the other in terms of anything mentioned though.

    • @tqracing
      @tqracing 3 года назад +1

      @@jackwinterson9801 The Cintiq Pro has 90% coverage of AdobeRGB (94% area). The Ipad Pro has ~98% Image P3 coverage. Gamut, however, is not accuracy - it's a measure of volume. A 90% coverage of a given color space is not very good to work with, as there'll be a lot of colors in that space that you cannot see.
      In terms of accuracy the Cintiq Pro looks OK but is really not accurate enough for critical work. The Ipad Pro, however, is. In fact, whatever algorithm Apple uses to match colors according to ambient light is so darn good you're most likely better off not even profiling it.
      For the record, I have owned and measured both devices. The Cintiq is not even close to the Ipad Pro's display quality. The display on the Cintiq is fairly mediocre but decently calibrated, whereas the Ipad Pro's display is stellar.
      The Cintiq Pro in particular has fairly high latency. It's higher than on the regular Cintiq, and the regular Cintiq has noticeable latency. The Ipad Pro does not have noticeable latency.
      Uneven nib wear is not a feature, it's a bug. The nibs get scratchy real fast so you have to either constantly rotate the pen or file it down (and I have a light touch). It's got nothing to do with the nibs needing to be replaced - it happens within an hour with a new nib.

    Can we use grafic Teblet without laptop 🤷🏻‍♂️cause i've seen every one get laptop attached with it...if not then ipad might be better option Cause with grafic teb you'll have to buy laptop and always need it!

      You need a computer to use the Cintiq. But the iPad Pro operates on its own.

    ipad pro still wins the color accuracy since it's use P3, which most of professional use on their macbook and imac.
    also the cintiq is using matte etched glass, which reduce even more color accuracy.
    cintiq pro 13 lose in so many ways, why are you so biased?
    cintiq pro wins a bit with pro 16 since it's 4k,. but if you compare to 12.9 3k display, then cintiq lose again. since 12.9 is cheaper.
    cintiq even more lose if you pair ipad with sidecar with macbook pro and use desktop apps.
    how many decades do you think they perfected cintiq? and apple just release apple for ipad and kill cintiq companion :/
    sorry to say but cintiq is a loser compare to ipad.

    Honestly the wacom is just slightly better as far as drawing on screen but wacom makes shitty overpriced crap after the 21ux and 22hd. The charging ports is always going bad and that has been a problem for a while so they just don't care. I would just get a intuos and a ipad pro and save the money. The wacom is wonderful if and when it works, but the ipad is far more reliable and portable.

      @@matthewphillips5483 Yes they are. I use and sell them. When they work nothing is better but they don't work as they once did so maybe the product when its working isn't shitty but the build quality sure is and the customer service sucks. They just don't make quality anymore as far as items that should last for artist forking over shit loads of money when other companies are getting 95% there for way less.

    Your speech flow is a bit strange. There are a lot of pauses that make it seem unnatural. I'm an editor, so my professional critique would be to 1. try to avoid talking like that in the first place, but a lot of it can be fixed in editing as well. when you are showing B-Roll, cut out all the pauses in your speech and then nobody would even know you talked like that in the first place. But good info

      Thank you for the feedback. I have a pretty bad stuttering problem that even when I'm directly reading off of my script, I still stutter a lot. I try to work around it through my editing, but unfortunately it doesn't always work out perfectly. Thank you for your suggestions.
