I wonder if they will gloss over the fact that he owned slaves.

So. That was the culture then in the South. Get over it & move on.

@@marlabretches7223 Only a white (and proud of being white) person says “so” about slavery. It took until 1964 to legalize interracial marriage. Claudette Colvin (still alive) was jailed in 1955 for not giving up her bus seat to a white person.

Maybe they should go back to being that way, we’d have much less crime and a better country!

The Barbary pirates did too, the Byzantine empire lords owned slaves, the Egyptians owned slaves, the Vikings owned slaves. There is not many major cultures or civilizations where their historical figures didn’t own slaves or participate in the process of enslaving other humans. I’m Just getting sick of hearing how any great American historical figure (the white ones) was less great because they had some sort of connection to slave ownership. It was a different time, different economy. You’re trying to apply 21 st century logic to 18th century times. 300 years from now, someone can talk about the things you did incorrectly when they have much more advanced tools, and evolved education. Write or wrong, people tend to base their actions and moral compass on what are the accepted norms of the times they live in. Prove me wrong…
