I had 2 great uncles and a great aunt named McCoy. They were my Papaw Hatfields half brothers and sister. I was raised in the 60s and 70s in the hollers of West Virginia and Southern Ohio.

I am 6th generation Appalachian and we are not like these folks. Most of us prefer are peace and quiet but they are all full of hate, on both sides and want to make their home a tourist attraction. Not us, we don’t want any tourists. We love the land and will protect it.
The problem with this whole series is that it's set up in advance. . . the things people are going to say and what they're going to do. There is no way that the cameraman just happened to be there when the McCoys were crossing into Hatfield land and the two families interacted. They are following a script, like all reality tv shows.
I feel like if they worked together they could be something BIG instead of putting on a fake front like there still feuding it just comes across as BS like when she said "the feud will never end" like I get it its for the show or whatever but

I'm 52, and I remember my grandfather (married to my g'mother) had familiarized himself with many of the stories. He and my Father spoke about all of them, including Ephraim (Big Ephe, pronounced like "Leaf"). My grannie, dad, and myself have/had the Hatfield blue eyes and other traits. The place where they hung and shot the 3 McCoy boys was less about 50 yards from my bedroom window. There's a historical marker there. Matewan, WV is across the river from where we grew up.
