It's so sad because these men were friends at one time. Deep down, I wish any conflict could be resolved without bloodshed. It seems as if humanity can't exist without conflict of some kind.
Nothing can, conflict is in nature, from the smallest protons wrestling within atomic structures to viruses destroying bacteria, to every animal fighting over territory, food, and mates, all the way to fusion within stars and blackholes ripping away time itself. Conflict IS nature.
They did a good job on his makeup too. He sure looked like a Sgt. Barnes relative since they both hated a certain kind of army. Vance hated Union soldiers and Barnes hated the Cong.
In western nc blue ridge mountains ik how it goes and had a feud similar to this with my cousins family (me and him are close and don’t have a problem don’t worry) but it was over a cow and our great 3x grandpas killed one another and others were killed proud of it somewhat but I’m glad it’s over same for the Hatfields and mccoys
Thankfully it's not super difficult to find in physical form if you're willing to go that route. I've seen it at Walmart for five dollars in the recent past. Definitely a keeper.
Anse brought retaliation on his family from this. Ellis probably would've survived the stabbing. Only one of the three actually killed him. They shouldn't have carried out vigilante justice on all three.
@@lorimorris6520 That's what I was saying. Only one of them actually killed him. Had Anse killed only the one who shot his brother, the feud probably wouldn't have gone on.
Best scene in the series! "I don't think so!"... Costner is the modern Era golden standard, playing western

Rest in peace Bill Paxton… damn shame…
I love how he takes the rifle from Cap. Cool little detail.. and Cap knew to let him have it
3:03 is some of the best acting Costner has ever done in his career.
you can tell they used only one take on this with Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton. Both actors have great talent. RiP Bill Paxton.
RIP Bill Paxton and Powers Boothe
Back when men looked each other in the eyes before giving them some justice.
This was exactly what should not happen.
There’s no debate. Best TV series ever. Best actors ever.
whatever mr hyerbole.
Yhall got to understand mountain justice to this day is different then where yhall are from

Unless you're from a place where the law doesn't exist they can't understand.
South central
“this all sits the way it sits because of us and no one else” THATS THE LINE
As if Bill and Kevin weren't solid enough, Tom was amazing
McCoy’s got was comin to em. Damn Kentuckians. West Virginia reign supreme !! 😂
What a shame this miniseries isn’t available for streaming.

Right now, it's on Tubi, which is a streaming app that's completely free. You just got to deal with watching ads.
Comes on Netflix sometimes
It's free on Tubi
Yeah I watched it on Netflix last year, though not available now. If you like Costner, try the Highway Men movie which is currently on Netflix.
Best friends turned enemies for the sake of family
Devil Anse was a S.O.B. Team McCoy all the way
I’m a fifth generation maccoy I’d love to meet some relatives.
release his sons not brothers
Jim.....shut up

Your right all this over a pig after everything that happened? is what killed the friendship of these 2 families I bet they did everything together
The pig was one part of it. The real start was when a Union McCoy was killed by a Confederates, supposedly led by Hatfields
This field goes way beyond some stolen pig!
