This is the reason I started playing MWO back then. It's the reason I started my own channel which is strictly mostly all MWO to this day.
So thank you Side Strafe. Your an old MWO Name that newer Players probably have no idea about. But whenever I think back to the days of early mwo I never forget the epic side strafe.
You. SideStrafe. You made me get the game. I like it. Thank you.
+Coldaardvark2 Glad I could help!
+Coldaardvark2 same here, downloading it now. i thought i would never touch this game after being at the nvidia event.
sad to say, but i am downloading it as i type after watching 10 min of this video.
I decided to get this game because of your videos SideStrafe and also because:
Reactor online, Sensors online, Weapons online, All systems nominal
As a big Mechwarrior 2 and 3 player almost 2 decades ago that line hit me right in the nostalgia. Used to play Mechwarrior 3 heaps online with my 56k dial up internet. Good times
Man I’m not one of those “born in the wrong decade kids” (being 23) but honestly wish I was born just a little sooner to experience the glory of the BattleTech/MechWarrior universe when it was being released and fleshed out. Feels like I’m having to play catch-up. Thankfully I’ve been able to find some of the old source material and games, but still looking. Should’ve started a little sooner even, giant fighting robots are always awesome lol
i miss the old mechwarrior games.
+Urudrim Me too!
+Urudrim I miss Shattered Steel. (If anyone remembers that game.) :)
+ShadowMKII is that a tank sim?
Jimmie M
Haha, it is a mech game; just like MechWarrior! Search it up! It was actually the first game Bioware ever developed, and it was really fun, too!
Oh wow I don't know how I overlooked that one since I was big into Mech warfare sims back in those days lol.
Really wish someone will either remake "Chrome Hounds", or make the sequel. I started out by playing Mech Warrior, but then fell in love with Chrome Hounds on the X-Box 360... Anyone know what I'm talking about?
+Nik Coffman yeah, at least someone should somehow get a server going for it but im sure that's pretty much impossible since it's a console game
+Nik Coffman Yeah but chrome hounds was horrible compared to Armor core.
+Jimmie M With all do respect bro, but you done lost your damn mind lol
I guess that's just my opinion, if you would go with a Gundam wing with alot of manuverabilty type of feel.
+Nik Coffman Try out Hawken.
with how fast you move around, (chassis can turn extremely fast, not slowed at all by hills, can climb any slope, etc) and the relatively empty map, (nothing to show scale against the mech) this seems like it plays almost like any other fps. like it doesn't seem like you're in a mech at all.
Always been a fan of the Mech franchise. Decided to check out your video since I had heard there was an online one that was F2P. You gained yourself a subscriber solely because of how you conducted yourself voice-wise. Too many times, you jump into a playthrough, and the person is yelling, screaming, overly excited. After a while, it's like nails on a chalkboard. Look forward to your other videos.
I don't know how people can play with so little dakka.
+Scoutthomson Ye, needs more Jaeger Dakka!
+Scoutthomson NEEDS MUCH MORE DAKKA
Ya know.. back in the days of Mechwarrior 2, legging was considered very dishonorable. By the sound of your voice, I'm sure that was way before your time.
+TemplarsWildFire Legging a mech in MWO doesn't have the same effect as it did in MW2. Much like age seems to have no effect on manners. Kind regards, a 34 year old gamer.
+TemplarsWildFire Have you heard of a game called Eve Online? It's an MMO in which the older players used to play by an honorable code of ethics as their massive alliances controlled the sovereignty of the game, then a large group of outsiders called "Goonswarm" joined the game. They were all noobs and could only use shittier smaller spaceships but eventually they ended up a rival for the strongest alliance in the game. Their rivalry ended when Goonswarm convinced a high ranking officer of their rival to disband the entire alliance, overnight the infrastructure that held territory and united players for that alliance shut down, leaving them vulnerable and fragmented. That was 2008, Goons have been the dominant force in the game ever since. They continue to exploit mechanics to their advantage. The lesson? Honor in video games lasts exactly until someone realizes how much they can accomplish without it.
+TemplarsWildFire you sound like a fucking fruitcake
+razzzz OH SHIIITT! NERD BRAWL! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!
+TemplarsWildFire Indeed it was, but even then, an MW2 vet like me held the Bronn of the Blackwater view of honor. I might be dishonorable...but you're dead and I'm not.
i miss the old old MW where their movements are slow and clunky, make it seems more real somehow.
Well, even in old battletech there have always been light mechs. Not to mention LAMs
How the hell does this video get almost 700k views but theres only 1000 players online in a day....
Zach Jackson curiosity, I'm just nostalgic from ma2
They each watched it 700 times.
well this game doesn't need any more players is enough with all of them are mech warriors fans and not noobs. ;)
...because there are more people in the world?
Even though this is an old comment, i'd say its because its more fun to watch gameplay rather than play the game. Atleast for me
Sniping has been my favorite style of combat. Gauss rifles were my preferred weapon. You do it well indeed, well thought out tactics and execution. You demonstrate the power of the lighter mechs when fitted and piloted correctly, smartly. When I used to play the old mechwarrior, (and the pencil & paper one) I liked to follow the adage, " shoot the meat not the metal" , but is very hard in this incarnation, as it would be expected. Real skill not dice rolls dictate predator from prey.
its refreshing to see a team player. and you play the way a light is meant to be played. well done.
Damn. I used to play the mech warrior turn-based table top game haha.. (I was a clanner. The mad cat was my mech of choice) One of the very first computer games I ever played was a mech warrior game for DOS. This was like pre-wolfenstein 3D. Yes I'm freakin old, ok? I loved the old school mech warrior games for Pc later on.. Like mercenaries.. And what was the other one.. Something about polar bears or something? This looks pretty awesome though
+swish007 Haha Ghost Bear Legacy expansion for MechWarrior 2. Fond memories!
+swish007 Same here, hexmaps on the floor. I preferred a rifleman fit with gauss rifles so less heatsinks needed for more ammo.
+swish007 Hey, nothing wrong with being old. I used to play the hell out BattleTech TT. I loved it. Then MW1 came out on DOS and I have been enamored since. Still, the best MW games would be 2, Mercenaries, and Ghost Bear's Legacy. I like MWO quite a bit, a little arcade-like for my tastes, but whomever they have designing the 'Mechs certainly is a true artist. None of them have ever looked as good in 30+yrs as they do now.
Guys, all of these mechs are out now. Go get em!
SideStrafe "Kodiak!!!" haha i still remember the exact sound of the guy yelling that lol
fuck, its people like this that really get me excited about a game. I think its all that KNOWLEDGE of the game that other vids dont disclose. theres bragging and then theres knowing wtf is wtf.
Wish they'd do a single player /story game. Dam graphics look good.
+ElysiumNZ : It's already been done buddy, I got the MW bug from playing MW2 on the Ps1 but I quickly progressed to PC gaming & played MW3 & 4. I may give the online a go, looks a hoot :-)
+MRMcLobster : The reality is a single player in a single mech wouldn't last very long at all, so it would be a very short game imo....just saying!
+SmokinJoe347 you know MWO decents from a single player game expirience? lol
+Joshua Gerber : I was playing Mechwarrior when you were still shitting baby-yellow crap in your nappy when it was only on PS1! That would be Mechwarrior 2 & I still have it so of course I know it's derived from a fucking single player game! Jeez, you youngsters think you know fucking everything!
+SmokinJoe347 : And yes, you've pissed me off!
Wish they'd do a single player / long, story game. with RPG element.
mechwarrior 5
Remember when this game had what was to be considered "great graphics" lol.
You stole my flag, eh !
Alexander Agustine EH! this is my flag!
infact this is my birth mark!
interesting game. im downloading this right now. cant wait to hop and try. Maybe even play with ya.
k if I worked for this company, I would really be stressing having the small details added. By this I mean native animals running away, people in cities, cars, bugs splatting against the windshield, cabin window fractures; anything that deals with extreme detail I would love working on. Audio, video, anything. I'm a little picky about my details.
Heh little details
Man I miss SideStrafe in game
Madcat MKII: 2 gauss rifles L&R Arms, 2 Light gauss rifles L&R torso, 2 er-medium palse lasers center torso, Jump jets.
Sunder: 2 Ultra AC 10's left arm. 2 X-large Palse Lazers right arm, 2 X-large Palse Lazers L&R torso 2 X-mediumPalse Lazers L&R torso.
Diaishi: 6 PPC's+Alpha Strike = mushroom cloud of greatness ^_~
How is it I didnt know about this game!? Looks freaking awesome
I'm just trying to think... Can't think of any Light Mechs that have Large Lasers on them in Battletech. I'm sure there's at least one, but can't think of any. Lrg. Lasers are great. And putting them on a fast Light Mech sounds like a great way to annoy the back lines of the enemy. Or even help to take out a few Hvy or Assault mechs by unloading on them into their thin back armor! Wish I could enjoy MechWarrior again. But, my left arm being out of commission really makes that close to impossible anymore! ;-/ Thx for the video, Side!
Daaeee, this game looks just as soul sucking as Eve Online, amazingfeelsbae. Cool vid, earnt a sub here.
I used to have the most fun with a Puma, 6 linked mgs and jump jets. Hard to kill at 200 kph and easy to kill with by concentrating fire into the cockpit.
Run, jump, fire, Thor dead.
NICE WORK...WILL BUY THE RAVEN CHAMPION FOR THE EXTRA 30% C-BILLS...THANKS STRAFE FOR YOUR LEGENDARY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MWO COMMUNITY...!
you know i was really excited about this game when it was first announced. but they've turned it into a crap hide behind something and poke your head out game that charges crazy money for things, 100% dissapointed in this piece of crap compared to other mechwarrior games in the past.
I like the girl's voice "Toilet Destroyed..." that would be funny.
I played the original Mechwarrior online in the 90's. Maybe it's just this map but this long-range combat does not seem fun compared to the original.
I enjoy the mechs that look original for example the cougar mech from mechassault 2 and other un edited mechs from that game. Basically I like to stick with the original looking mechs.
It was a real bad move to not finish off that mech, Even weaponless he scouting for LRM Fireing. Intel is vary important in this game.
watching this vid got me interested in this game. are there still lots of people in the community? been a fan of the old mech warrior pc game. is this on xbox 360 or pc only?
Is this game pay to win? Or is there a ULTIMATE premium account that you can't play without it (like in World of Tanks) ?
I started playing last Spring and I haven't put a penny into the game. I'm a casual player, in the sense that I really don't ever want to go that 'whole hog', but I've mastered the Mist Lynx and Shadowcat and I'm quite good with them. I enjoy the game. There are some things you can't get if you don't pay but it's not really pay-to-win, it's more like get-good-with-what-you-have-and-dominate-to-win. ;)
Tell please. How you distanced camera back, inside mech?
+ytapro FOV slider in options.
SideStrafe thanks
Always been a huge fan of the MechWarrior series of games. Been toying with the idea of MechWarrior online for a while now....
Seven years later I have just picked up MW5, hope to replicate this sort of thing in that eventually.
Just to let you know I got this game thanks to this video and after testing some mechs I find this playstyle and Mech the best for me! 500,000 a game is only possible for me using this mech and playstyle. Thanks you sir!
Man I didn't even know this game existed. I hear you calling out mech names and it brought so many memories of mech warrior 1 and mech commander!
Sorry but this game looks boring. Too bad it isn't more involved like Lost Planet.
mech on mech is alright. Need more though, like fleeing civilians and cars to squash.
I've never played mechwarrior......
I am 54 and have played many games but not in the last 5 years...
but as for people saying that your play is dishonorable LoL
when is war honorable???? it only Honorable if you are on the winning side
need to get a fast PC then I might have a play for old times (never played online)
+Roy Telling Indeed, sir. Honor is decided by the one who wins, the same as history.
Raven 3L was my favourite mech when i played. Spent 95% of my time in that mech. My preferred mech loadout is the scout missile painter with the NARC and TAG. When the missile barrages come in, i usually fired what i had at it as the missiles impacted so as to not immediately give away my position.
Majority of my time was spent making my missile equipped team mates get filthy rich with lots of damage.
All with my ECM equipped Raven 3L. The mech everyone laughs at but i treasure.
I dont know honestly. I gave up after a while a year or two ago due to poor decisions made by the developers. I recently came back after watching this video that happens to have my all time favourite mech.
After a dozen or so matches recently... i still cant answer you.
+IN*! Gaming It's not exactly P2W. In most cases, everything is available for the in-game currency that you earn just by playing other than the brand spanking new mechs that come out, which for about the first month are only available for the real money currency. The only other things that aren't available for the in-game currency are camos, paint colors, and so called 'advanced' versions of certain consumables, and the advanced versions, while a -little- better than the standard versions of those consumables, I don't honesty feel make a huge difference. For instance, the in game currency UAV might reveal enemy positions for 1.5 seconds, and the advanced version that you can buy as an RMT might reveal enemy positions for 2.25 seconds. Not a huge difference, really.
In short, you can buy everything that you need to be competitive in MWO without spending a single dime of real world money, you just might have to wait a bit longer for that brand new mech that just came out, or play a few more games in order to earn enough C-Bills to buy a mech than someone who has bought premium time will have to play.
what are some of the better sniper mechs in light and medium class?
I love my Atlas AS7-K. I've had some very memorable moments with it. Like one match where I wound up in a pure Assault Lance (3 Atlas Mechs and a Dire Wolf). Without any coordination beforehand I just decided to follow my Lance, as did everyone else, and we wound up skirting the entire battle before the four of us just plopped ourselves in the middle of the enemy's base....and waited. And after about a minute a single Light (IIRC, it was a Jenner) runs into view and he literally just stops cold, most likely dumbfounded by finding *four pristine 100-ton Assault Mechs* sitting in their base, and they were promptly obliterated. And as time passed more enemy Mechs began to trickle in as either individuals or pairs and all of them would just get shredded by focused fire from my Lance. It felt so good. :P
this vid is like over 2 years old and i just started the game with my first mech. guess what it is...
A game like this, mixed with Elite Dangerous, and an open world theme would be awesome. Customization along the lines of Armoured Core. And an ability to get out of the mech and walk around and stuff, kinda like Space Engineers where you can walk around the inside and outside of your ship.
Space battles, ground battles, air battles, sea battles. That would be like my perfect game.
Subscribed!
Thanks to your videos you have made me go from Heavy Mechs to Light Mechs. I've built a Raven 3L with a very similar load out to your video and going to give it a bash to see how I do however I do have 1 concern with the Raven I have built, I currently have a 36% cooling efficiency as I have no heat sinks in my build other than the 1 required one.
Should I be concerned, my logical thinking is saying it is fine as I will be keeping back and hiding. Do you think I am alright or do you have a suggestion?
please do a episode where you assume the role of sonmeone actualy in he piolts seat even if i was 3min long
"all he can do is scout... which he might be doing" yep, better not waste time on that
I thought I try out some light mech instead of Assault... I'm not so sure now..
I download the Game4 atm and played 1-3 times before, i see you aim always for the arms ? Is your Target the Weapons ? Any tips ? Some bots have Weapons at the Chest would you aim at the chest then ?
Whats the alternate to aim for instead of weapons ?
Aim for the center torso if you want to kill a 'Mech as quickly as possible. But the center torso usually has a lot of armor, so it takes a longer to punch through.
The arms and legs usually have less armor, so they're easier to destroy. On top of this, a lot of 'Mechs usually mount their main weapons on the arms. So by destroying an arm, you decrease a 'Mech's ability to fight, which can be very good for your team. Especially if your enemy is a big 100 ton Assault 'Mech that mounts weapons on the arms.
Basically, destroying the arms is not lethal, but it is a very tactical decision, and you get rewarded for every component you destroy.
it doesn't hurt to have classical music synced up with this vid....hehehee...
So... Guy who put a few hundreds of hours into HAWKEN. Is this a similar concept? Looks a bit slower paced.
Way slower paced. This game is called the thinking man's shooter. Hawken is a lot of fun! This is slower gameplay that requires good positioning an coordination, not just a single carrier.
so is this anyway like everquest and wow where you can build your mech up etc
Don't You think that there is completely no feeling of piloting mech that weighs tens of tons? This game looks like another shooter for me. That is sad because I expected something more from this title...
Due to the lore/tech of the game light mechs like in the video can be fairly nimble, top speeds over 60 MPH. The larger mechs built for for max armor and weapons can be snail pace walking fortresses. The light mechs don't see it as much but each mech does have mass, starting and stopping takes time, torso swivel is pretty quick but turning the movement direction of the legs is not immediate. Each has it's own play style but I would suggest you actually try the game. Though if you go into it like you are playing COD, BF, Halo, etc it will probably be frustrating and are on a fast route to a quick death.
+SideStrafe Nice driving, Pilot. *thumbs up*
how can you play with the cockpit light on, the glare is unbearable.
Man I haven’t watched u since I was 7 now I’m 10 but I’ll watch u again
Very interested in this build style i like being mobile and supporting the big guys
What is the build on this mech? I'd like to give it a go myself.
I also love the Raven. I like smaller Mechs in general but the Raven is the least ugly, looking appropriate for it's intended purpose.
Awesome vid. How do you get the 150.3km speed? I haven't got the 3l elite yet but the speed should be 147km...ish.
I remember in the early 90s a game called Battle Tech on line. I was with a clan called, BK ( black knights ) of Davin. fun stuff back then
Dang beach balls! One of my favorite mechs absolutely, by the way. Well done, and keep up the good work. Unfortunately, the day of the sniping light is over.
is this really what snipping is? i've played MW games before and i remember having ranges easily more than 1200m.
graphic is good looks interesting, but I think it's bored, the yager have too few weapon or optimization
i really want to play this game im exited to download the game im downloading now
Hmmm this is the first I have seen of MWO. I like what I see and am downloading as I type. Thumbs up!
okay tend own nearly sequence grade comedy appoint defensive
We had this game in the mid 80's on our families ZX Spectrum. Man it's come a loooong way!
Back when the MWO game play was a thinking man’s game...
I remember playing the first MW on-line. Everybody just jump jetted around bunny hopping.
Instead of people playing hide and seek, this game has metal people.
Can you put your mech build for raven somewhere?
Everytime I think about Mechwarrior and MWO, I immediately think about sidestrafe haha
Ended up falling on love with the Raven and many light and medium mechs because of this video
Good times!
@@SideStrafeIndeed haha! Very good times
Is the Mad Cat obsolete in MW Online? I don't see anyone using it in the game, oh and this is my first time hearing of this online game.
+Alvin De Rama It's still a fairly dangerous mech. Maybe not as god-like as it was at one juncture, but it can still wreck bitches.
Three questions:
A, does this game still exist/play?
B, do any mechs possess a melee ability/attack?
C, thoughts on the most recent three Mech-'Verse games that came out in last decade?
A Yes, I play it roughly 5 times a week.
B No, there is no melee ability
C ? Not a fan of MW5. Don't know what else you mean.
@@kennethfharkin Battletech, is one of the newest one's.
I'd like to point out the the damage system isn't new, it's Mechwarrior 3.
What setup would you use on the JM-6S? I love doing a Quad AC/5 supporter.
Living Legends 0.7.1 compare this to MWO its a tough one I like both
There is All-Chat?! What happened to it? It is only team-chat now..
You might need to unlock the option "Enable all chat" first, since by default you can't "all-chat"...
thier talking about getting rid of the mudoles at this time.
do you have to invest money in order to progress in this game?
The quick kill on a DC is the headshot :D
Try polar Highlands with the 3L yet?
Don't know how this is in my feed but I thought this game died ages ago...
Oh wait, this was uploaded in 2014. lol
Prior of the Ori its still playable -_-
"Still playable"? So is Sewer Shark on Sega Genesis but do people still play it? Fuck no. MAYBE like 1-2 people in the whole world. At least give some valuable information.
Prior of the Ori Like u fucking said dumbass only 1-2 people at least its playable dumbass -_-
there are almost 2000 active players a day - queue times are lower than a minute - still fun to play and enough active players there. there is actually no salt in the community- very calm and friendly too. So this game is not gonna die or anything.
Commander - "You are on a battleground."
Soldier - "I don't want to take risks."
Woah, these mechs are way too agile. Is this supposed to be Macross? :(
He is playing a much faster mech.
gonna get the game now, thanks to you. also is there a way to counter your heat from your weapons?
cole just heat sinks
My favorit mech right now im thinking about buying a stalker 3f and putting 4 or six er large lasers what do you think?
Neat
Use six large lasers or four ER large lasers. Check out the Stalker Mastery Guide by Gman.
take away the sensors and this would be a great game.
We. It’s you, sidestrafe, in your raven...
Is this game is out on pc? Or it's a console exclusive only? I never heard of this game but looks super fun in pvp.
+feketepeon111 its on steam and its super fun
Or you could download it for free
Thanks Sir... Great Mech and Game Play.
I was watching this video then I downloaded the game
Wasn't this made by the same company that made MechAssault games? I remember their being a Mad Cat and a Mad Dog in this game, correct me if I'm wrong (commented before I watched this whole video)
Really? Guess I never noticed that.
That would explain why you can drop people so quickly if you hit them right. Hell, I've gone up against assaults in a light and came on top!
Piranha games did not originally hold the BattleTech license. Mechassault was at the same time the then 12 year old MechWarrior franchise moved to wizkids and FASA, and MechAssault being developed by day 1 studios. Both are set in BattleTech. Neither perfectly canonical, but MechAssault leaning towards a more arcade take.
Mad Kiyos Wow, I learned a lot about this topic. Awesome games, tho
Holy crap man, nice shots!
Roof more shake committee brown destination sink
this is a 3 years old vid... and it popped up on my recomended list
