Same, 3 more days! Ruffy and the riverside and plucky squire also look promising. Hell pie, psychonauts 2, crash 4, tinykin, and spongebob the Cosmic shake were all great and I'm glad I still have much to look forward to

This is my favorite genre largely due to it being what I grew up on for the most part and I'm just so happy that indie devs have taken the genre and really lifted it up. I've had Clive 'N' Wrench on my wishlist for years and The Plucky Squire along with Ruffy are really adding some unique spins to the genre with their signature mechanics. There are even more games like BUN that might come out this year as well that I'm looking forward to so the genre is still pretty strong and that's a great thing to see!
Clive 'N' Wrench might have the record for the most mentions of any game on my channel if you count me rambling about it on my podcast haha. I've been such a huge fan of the dev and I'm so happy that it's almost here! Best of luck with the upcoming launch and I'll make sure to spread the word when it's out!
i have yet to see a game that inspires me more in the last 10 years than just a trailer or two of ruffy. that art style flings me right back to my childhood. can't wait to get that one. reminds me a LOT of the tomba games.

I completely agree! Tinykin was awesome! I reviewed it and included it in my top indie games of the year video as well as giving it an award during our awards show and I really hope more people play it. That game was such a joy to play from beginning to end and I'm happy to see that development team do a 3D platformer after having a lot of experience in the 2D platformer space.
Rise of Fox Hero looks like what PS1's Kingsley's Adventure would look like if it were to be released today. Looking forward to most of these. Great video, a lot I didn't know were in the works. Cheers!
There was a 3D platformer that was released some months ago on Epic store and I can't find the name now. It had a female protagonist and vibrant scenery and bosses. It was not Kena, does it ring a bell to anyone, please?
Clive looks really cool and Super Adventure Hand..will be checking it out..huge fan off platformers and already have new SpongeBob game for Xbox one and loving it, looks like I will be playing 2 new platformers on my PS5 in coming weeks nice...thanks for sharing

I'm looking out on The Plucky Squire since the publisher in Devolver Digital made some games I like in the rebooted Shadow Warrior trilogy and Evil West. I like the fact that the style of multiple genre gameplay altering between different styles depend and what object in what world you get ported to thus 2D and 3D switching along with side scrolling and top down. Also traditional platforming as well as side mini games from other genres from inspirations of different games from different subgenres in one unique and creative idea for a fresh IP of a platform done by a AA publisher who made other games I enjoyed that I forementioned earlier in the comment. Nice list you have there!

Yea I checked out the demo when it was up and I had a great time! I'm glad they found a publisher in Super Rare Originals and we won't have to wait too much longer with it launching in October!
Same here The Plucky Squire looks awesome and Devolver is going to have a somewhat sneaky great year I think. Pepper Grinder, The Plucky Squire, Wizard with a Gun, Skate Story, Gunbrella, Terra Nil, that's not even all of what they have for this year and I'm excited for all of them!
So MANY AMAZING GAMES! I can’t decide which I like the most but i am super excited for spongebob since I loved playing battle for bikini bottom rehydrated!
That game really surprised me in terms of its quality and how well optimized it was. Having that same team go from a remake/remaster to a brand new game is pretty exciting!
That's good to know. Might have shifted direction a bit with the latest trailer since up until then it was marketed as a 3D platformer and listed as such on Steam. There was a long period of silence between the older and newest trailer so they might have made it less platformy to make room for more of the swap mechanic. That's fine though. As a fan of the genre I look at it and still feel like fans of the genre will still probably enjoy it.
@@p6t857 They recently said it would be coming to consoles and Steam but tagged PS5, Switch, and XBOX in the post. Not a definitive answer but that's somewhat encouraging.

Unfortunately that hadn't been announced yet at the time of writing/releasing this video. I'm really excited to check it out though. It looks really good!
From my experience 3D platformers from smaller studios are mostly unplayable. Yeah you heard that right. Hard for me to trust these games unless I see overwhelming positive reviews.
100%! I love games that employ different perspectives like that from 2D levels in Mario Odyssey to the recent crop of 3D platformers with 2D sprites and I'm a Super Paper Mario apologist so The Plucky Squire looks right up my alley.
Most of these should come to the Switch but have not been officially announced yet. The Plucky Squire will for sure and Mail Time looks like it also will release on Switch as well. We'll likely know more when their release dates are announced.
It will release later this year on PC and I'm not sure when it will release on consoles but I hope it does. Hopefully if the launch goes well we will see it on the Switch at some point!

Clive n Wrench is the game I'm most excited about.

A Scooby-Doo game would be pretty cool. There was recently a Smurfs game that released out of nowhere so anything's possible!
Ruffy and the Riverside isn't a 3d platformer I commented is this a platformer on the trailer and they responded its a zelda like adventure game
