  • The one regret I have for having a RUclips channel is that I haven't been personable enough on RUclips. That I've mostly had a RUclips Channel without showing my face. That I've stayed behind the camera too much, in too many of my RUclips videos. I regret not talking more about myself and just sharing more of who I am. So, I want to change that. I want to share more of who I am, and be more personable on RUclips. So, here are some things that are going on in my personal life like shutting down my first business, when I want to start traveling again, personal hobbies, current job situation, truck camper updates and a rapid-fire list of "Getting to Know Me" Questions.

I saw a teardropn that made me think of you the other day. Bean Trailer is previewing a model that isn't on their website yet. It weighs in at only 1175 pounds, which is significantly lighter than their other models. And, their interior height is 5 ft. on all of their models. The price starts at $15,000, which again varies quite a bit from their existing teardrops.

      oh wow
Bean Trailers are really nice! i’ve looked at Square Drops and Teardrops a few times after selling mine. while the thought does cross my mind from time time, i just can’t but help but remember all the downsides from living in it full time. ultimately, there’s just better options for me. but i do cherish the time i had in mine and ABSOLUTELY don’t regret traveling in it… or selling it. haha
thanks for watching by and commenting

I love it! I went to the doctor recently and the medical assistant said she thought I was in my 40s. I turn 63 next week and learning from people like you-I’m preparing myself for the van life. I actually want to, but I also don’t think I have a choice.

I found your channel when you were traveling with your teardrop and personally, I’m liking your channel. I built my own teardrop so I am a teardrop enthusiast, but that’s neither here nor there, I’m looking forward to seeing some more adventures from you.
I wish you lots of luck in growing your channel.

Research a good reliable used truck, then do a build series on making a camper that fits you. Build series tend to gain views and you wind up with a camper designed for you.

Hi Erik, great to catch a video from you today. I discovered your channel as I myself have been thinking about going out and living the nomadic life for a very long time. Weighing out car/van, truckcamper/teardrop for a full time rig is what brought me to your channel to watch you travel around getting free campsites and live the daily life in the teardrop was very helpful, educational and enlightening.
Fun side note: I've seen 2 teardrops like what you traveled in and always think of the axel breaking and having to be replaced when you were out on the road.
Appreciate you sharing a little more about yourself as I've watched your entire tour of the US and look forward to your next travel adventure!!
Have you considered converting a van for your next vehicle to travel in?
Take care, Chuck in New Hampshire

dude! you’re the best!!! thank you!! yes, i have considered a van. my subaru is all paid off though. and that’s the part i’m having a hard time letting go of. haha. i don’t really want to invest in something that’s gonna cost more. but trust me, EVERY day i think about how to travel again. i’ve even looked at Teardrops and Square drops again.
i’m gonna make a follow up to my truck camper video and talk about what my tentative plans are for right now. how i plan on getting back on the road.
i’m glad you got some good info out of the channel!! thats one of the things i always wanted to do with the channel- was help others do nomad traveling and just share tips, advice and lessons learned from the road. i absolutely don’t want to come across like i know everything, cause i know i dont, but if i learn something the hard way, then i like to help others from making the same mistake i did
thanks for watching, commenting and donating!!

This was perfect and on point. I saw you in a video sharing your teadrop trailer - you were being interviewed. I enjoyed the content, but it was not what made me subscribe to the channel. It was the video where you shared feeling like a millionaire on $214 a month :). I connected with you from what you shared in that video. I worked for Apple myself for almost 10 years, and you sharing that information and your goals was what made me hit the like and subscribe buttons. And then this video came up. Wishing you much luck in your adventures. PS we used to joke that people that worked for Apple never looked their age. ;)

haha! awesome! well thank you. yeah, Apple kinda “pushed” me into this lifestyle. it was fun for a while… till it wasn’t anymore.
and i think the interview you’re talking about was on SUV RVing with Tristan. i got to meet him in Idaho. he was awesome to meet!
i did another video where i really felt like it was time to quit and move on from Apple after not getting the Tech And Merchandising Job:

I like the additional info about you. I just recently ran across your channel when you did your teardrop setup tour. I have watched maybe 7-8 so far. I will be starting a contract out of state, working on site in FL, so I'm thinking RV for a year, still keep my house but not pay rent too. Want to be self-contained, camper van maybe. What I am enjoying most about your videos are your advice, tips, tricks and your openness about pros, cons and how you think things through. Libra moon and Ascendant here so like nice views, music, some comfort. Gemini sun so I'm adaptable. Should be interesting, though admittedly not s much of an adventure as your year.

oh thank you! oh, you’re gonna love it out there! sooo much to see and do! one thing i will leave you with is- you can watch all the videos in the world, but most of it you’ll figure out as you go along. i did make a video on how to prepare for Van Life/Nomad Living, which might be helpful when starting out.
i’m thinking of doing a series on things to do in specific areas of the country. for example- if you vacation or travel to/camp at/around South Dakota- how you can visit Mt Rushmore, Badlands Nat Park, Jewel Caves Nat Monument, Wind Caves Nat Park, an abandoned missile silo, and Wall Drug. and give advice on how to go to each place and how long to stay there.
here’s my video on how to prepare for van life and another one of everywhere i went for a year (to give you some motivation of all the amazing places you’ll see!)
