Study abroad, no matter how long, it opens your mind and heart in a way that it`s insane! In a few days I`m completing 1 year and 7 months living in the US coming from Brazil planning my License in France and I couldn't be more happy! Being brave is the key, congrats for that!

I relate to this so much & I'm so happy you're in a good place now :) I didn't take a gap year but instead I went to community college my first two years and it was the best decision I ever made. I was able to spend time to myself and realize where I wanted to go, what I wanted to be, focus on my studies, and improve myself (not that I was bad before hahaha I just had more time to "grow up"). When I transferred to my four year university I was able to do all of the things I wanted to do if I had started at a four year my first year. I joined a sorority, studied abroad, and made a ton of close friends. Now I'm in graduate school & I wouldn't have changed my undergrad career for the world. Everything ends up working out!! It's crazy.

I relate to this so much, and I'm so happy for you! I transferred from community college to UCSB (hope you applied) this school year and my first quarter here was hell. Miserable. I didn't make friends, I missed home, and I hated where I lived. But I got involved in a campus organization and I met people who ended up becoming my closest friends here and I was able to move in with them! There's so many other things I need to look into, and watching this was the push I needed. So thank you, and again I'm so glad you're loving life :)

This sounds exactly like me. I'm from California and went to school in a completely new place (Missouri) and had a really rough and isolated freshman year. My grades were pretty awful and I wasn't taking care of my body and I developed pretty bad anxiety and depression. I couldn't really transfer anywhere because my GPA was low but I've adapted to living here and have been doing what I can to make myself happy. This video made me really hopeful so thank you because I needed this! Just subbed you, as well!
Btw. another side-note: If you're able to cry very easily, you're healthy inside and at least emotionally safe in your environment. That would be another positive thing on your list of things to be grateful for. Happy to see, you're doing good in Europe. 0/

Thats so strange, my situation is weirdly similar. I'm about to go to France and a year ago I was severely depressed and anxious in college... now im finally starting to recover and feel normal and happy again and about to experience my childhood dream of studying abroad :)
