Wow... I never knew there was a Vietnam mod to IL-2, I once heard rumors of it, but I never knew if they were true or not.. well this proves it. This was utterly magnificent this one.. just loved it so much.. it's just so similar to SF2, and to have the A4 Skyhawk take the image.. that was ace. Your flight with this beauty is like playing operation rolling thunder, I play that quite a bit with the US Navy campaigns in SF2. The A4 Skyhawk is a true icon of jet aircraft, didn't have any afterburner but it's turning was not to be looked down upon, "the tough little scooter" I hear many pilots called this aircraft. I do know these had to avoid dogfighting but an A4C managed to down a MiG 17 with Zuni rockets, I forget the name of the pilot. Everet Alvarez flew these and he was the first US airman shot down by the North Vietnamese and first to be imprisoned. Grizzly stuff when you go up against AAA with these, tooth and claw combat between the A4s and AAA, but regards.. I do love this jet, it's my 4th fav jet in Vietnam after the F8E Crusader, F105D Thunderchief and the F4B Phantom. I think the early B variant of the A4 Skyhawk is one of my favs, the F with the dorsal hump and straight refuelling probe is perhaps my all time fav of these variants, operating from the Essex class carriers is another reason why I love these things. This was fantastic, truly amazing.. thanks so much for putting this on, well done brother flier and happy hunting mate 👏 👏 👍
I was in an A4 Squadron when I was in the Marines as small as it was compared to a giant A6 intruder, it could carry a tremendous bomb load out. Very easy to maintain and air ready time was astounding. Although I am not a big fan of the jet age. Korea and Vietnam are well represented by the game. Thanks again for your thoughtful insight.
@@callsignnictmere465 What really? You was an actual A4 pilot!? Bluddy hell this is an honour.. really it is.. I'm at loss for words. All I can say is thanks.. thanks so very much for being part of a global force that protects not only America but also nations of the world from trouble and being part of a group that is closely allied to my own home country. You don't have to worry about questions because I won't ask them, whenever I've met veterans in the past I've never asked questions.. not once.. really.. honestly and foretruly.. because of how much it hurts them to speak about their service. Thanks again brother flier.. it's a true honor to speak to you.. really it is. If your interested.. my brother in law was in the army himself.. he was in the royal engineers, he plays a lot of silent hunter 4 so.. actual military personnel playing hard-core sims.. small world ain't it? Thanks again mate, really thanks.. it's an honour to be a fan of your channel 👍 👍
@@joeaustin4472 Actually I was an aviation parachute rigger assigned to VMA134 we were equipped with the A4F it was a great plane to work on and be a part of a USMC squadron in naval aviation was a great experience that I will never forget. On the channel page you will see me next to a Skyhawk.
@@callsignnictmere465 All the same thanks so much and again, wonderful to speak to you, is an honour regardless.. just seen the image. Don't matter if you was a rigger, still worked with the Skyhawk regardless.. so, you know.. still part of the system, still worked with the skyhawk, you was still a marine, so.. thanks again. Still applies 👍
Again, Skyhawks are one of those really Iconic and fun aircrafts too fly, I main skyhawks in my rolling thunder campaign in strike fighters 2. Had some awesome strike missions, maybe I should give the A-4's in bat mod a go, only really tried migs and F-14 lol
Good morning Nictmere! I´m GA9_Glaciar. I´m one of the leader of this squadron and we are planing to issue an online campaing about the Malvinas/Falkland war. It will be open to the world. Im texting this message to invite you personally. And may be I can send you more descricption. Have nice shots!
Thank you for the invitation I played the TAOS mod way back, and was very impressed by it. I made a few videos on it ruclips.net/video/CfHZj15OAMY/видео.html yest please forward the description of your project. Best regards.
But it would have been historically inaccurate. Quang Tri (the target area in this video) is in South Vietnam. North Vietnamese planes never crossed into SV while Americans were still there and I dont think he flew over North Vietnam at any point.

I find it hard picking out ground targets in 1946 prop so the strafing runs in a jet were solid.
I really like the two Colt 20mm canons set in the wing roots the shots hit real close together with devestating effect, and accuracy.

I have to give it to B.A.T. Jet Age they have many A4 Skyhawk models to fly. I flew nothing but A4's when I played Strike Fighters back in the day.
A4 is a great plane nickname was SCooter.
Very well describes it, it was small & light compared to other jets of the day, but It could carry a load out!
Very cool! Thank you for this video!
Another interesting one!

Some Air To Air Action Would Have Been Good
A4's were not big on air to air, but they did have the capability with guns and sidewinders.
But it would have been historically inaccurate. Quang Tri (the target area in this video) is in South Vietnam. North Vietnamese planes never crossed into SV while Americans were still there and I dont think he flew over North Vietnam at any point.
amazing
for a very old game..very very good mission.. try land jets on carrier
