I disagree that they should've made it darker. Abuse is abuse, little or big. Why does a person has to wait for or witness 'bigger abuse' to leave their partner? If the things they've shown in the film is abuse, if somebody is going beyond that, that is obviously abuse. And that much is understandable. It would've killed the whole point of the film if they had made it darker, as if it's abuse if only somebody is doing the extreme to you. I like the fact that they didn't make it darker, it's already triggering to a huge audience who witnessed domestic abuse. It ain't a gory film, it's a film with a message and they did a well done job with sending out the message.
To be honest as a woman this was triggering enough for me. Any darker would make it unwatchable. I don’t think it needs to be more gory for it to be less impactful. Abuse happens on smaller scales as compared to this and those are still good enough reasons to leave and fight back. It doesn’t lessen the message of the story.
Oh I’ve never wanted the two of you to understand the cultural nuances the way I do for this film. There is so much in there that you might have missed just because these things are only true to the area where they are. For instance, Alia’s character’s superstition. For someone who refused to walk over the lemon and chillies in the opening montage or someone who throws the salt over her shoulders because she dropped some - she continued walking after a black cat crossed her path. In that instance, you know as the audience that she’s lost something she’ll never get back. Or when she walks up to the pharmacy, and hesitates, without a word, he brings out the Savlon (antiseptic liquid) showing you just how normal her abuse is to the rest of the community. And Shefali’s character forcing her to kill the husband is because she believes being a widow is better than being divorced. There’s just so much there. Please please rewatch it with someone Indian who could pause and explain these things to you or translate the actual words. Ps. The word that was subbed as coward - it was essentially calling him impotent. (You’re not a man if you raise your hand on a woman - you’re impotent)
You're right with the lemon/chillies/salt thing. But I don't think the scenes in the Pharmacy were lost in translation at all - that was pretty universal I felt. Regarding the [divorce vs widow] thing... I think Shefali rather wanted him dead so he can't come back to hurt her (or talk he into changing her mind) and much less to do with "divorce" being a stigma (although it very much may be).
I really think netflix doesn't give as effective subtitles as effective the dialogues are!! Quite a bit of context can be lost in translation! Nd I'm not saying for this movie specifically, I'm saying netflix in general!
I thought Shefali Shah was the highlight of the film....Her scenes with Alia are terrific. A great screenplay with amazing performances, totally watchable!
My issue with wanting this movie to go darker in terms of violence is a) not each domestic violence situation is that extreme. We don't have to see Sansa and Ramsay situation each time. There is truth and realism to the dynamic between the two. Even if your abuser 'only' slaps you around or manhandles you that is a vile and horrible situation. Just because it can be worse doesn't mean it has to be. Vijay's character is abusive and bad enough, the extent of his abuse is enough and more commonly seen in real life. b) There are too many instance where in a bid to make a 'point' director do the graphic, darker scenes but most of the time it unfortunately takes away from the point and turns into torture p*rn. We can talk about the gravity of abuse without seeing it each time. This movie would not be the same movie if it was darker.
The word she uses for coward actually means 'impotent' (also used to derogatorily refer to a eunuch very often - which is very offensive, and some critics took note of it too)
I watched the movie yesterday and today read news about Mandeep Kaur who committed suicide because of abusive husband. She apparently went to new York police once with her parents and took the complaint back after he pleaded with her. The fact that these kind of things are so common and normalized is scary, while there are many who where shook by the news there were also a lot , a lot of people who were saying the news is blown out of proportion . Unbelievable amount of pure evil people exists, I was numb going through the news painful!!
It's not blown out of proportion. My sister was murdered by her abuser. I kept telling her to leave him or he would kill her someday. But for some reason, I never actually believed it would REALLY HAPPEN! Then it did. My sister came up missing. He buried her in the back yard. It is a truly horrific problem in ALL societies.
I get your reviews but I felt this much dark was more than enough and it didn’t need to go too far….this much dark is impactful enough to make a difference…
I really liked the movie. I was kind of hoping they'd make it a murder on the orient express type situation where the entire community conspires to keep the murder quiet and dupe the police. But I liked the way the movie went also
When you make a film like this you have to make sure that it's accessible and acceptable by a larger audience, because the goal is to give out a message to a larger audience. Not to create some art you think is cool. The larger audience will only follow the message if they like the film.
Loved all four actors in the movie my fave was zulfis character. The movie was okay however i think it was little slowpaced especially after they held him hostage. I expected some more action.
Excellent review. Now how about reviewing AAVASA VYUHAM: THE ARBID DOCUMENTATION OF AN AMPHIBIAN HUNT (Yes, that's actually the title!), an award-winning movie that's genre-defying and conveys a solid ecological message in a uniquely thrilling way. It's one hell of an experimental movie that's gripping, and an eye-opener. Also, INNALE VARE (Until Yesterday), starring Asif Ali, Nimisha Sajayan and Antony Verghese - a thriller that keeps you glued to the screen till the end. Having said that, the ending could have been less incredible, but the fact remains that it's a rollercoaster ride till then. Both are on SONY LIV.
Hey thanks for this. Would be good if you put a time stamp for spoiler review, would be easier for us who've come here to listen what you thought of the movie after seeing it ourselves :)
Watched Darlings last night and found it to be a brilliant film with superb performances by Vijay Verma, Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt. I was particularly impressed by the climax which was outstanding. For me, this black comedy/drama on domestic violence is the best film so far of 2022. 😁👌 I just wonder why the makers did not release it in theatres and only on Netflix? It needs to be seen by more people. 🤔
Exactly why she chose ott instead of theaters! I understand your point and even i would want that too.. But these days hardly anyone wants to go to theaters when they're paying for ott nd sitting nd watching stuff at the comfort of their couch! Sad but still a fact!
i think it was a good choice. 1. in India movies are even now a family thing.. and DV is still a hush hush "family matter" .. not many families would come to theaters and watch this.. see how an avg. bhool bhulaiya became a hit just because is basic "family movie". 2. ott was a nice testing ground and good conditioning of the audience and can make a movie like gone girl (the genre not a remake) be a hit in Indian theaters in future.
Just saw this movie. Incredible! What an amazing screenplay! The performances, especially Shefali Shah’s was Oscar worthy. This film reminds me of Pulp Fiction
Aye come on. Also there was one moment where after shefali's character's flashback was shown, Badru looks at shefali , there's one closeup for 2 seconds where big big tears flow from both of her eyes at the same time. Like that threw me off. The whole backstory felt like an overkill.
Honestly As Rick said I like this movie but I don't love this movie bcoz I think the screenplay in 2nd half can be much better, and basically they should elevate the darkness more, trauma more,a type of revenge thing more and show some really bizarre moments but movie was very normal normal in 2nd half,The twist at the climax is good but it doesn't hit u hard bcoz in the whole movie u never think about shefali's husband,so pay off can be better and shefali's character can be written good,Vijay Verma was absolutely fantastic and so as Alia Bhatt. I really like Roshan Matthew, very likeable,,, Signing off with 3 out of 5
And Guys The stuff we have watched in India in last 2 years Or may be way before Paatal Lok,NH 10, Samantha in Family Man 2,those are very dark characters and Nawaz in Raman raghav also,You should push your boundaries and they have very wrong myths about people's choice,Making it funky won't work, set the tone first and then generate the empathy, it's like building Samwise Gamgee throughout the movie and after Boromir's death when u see Frodo and that scene in the boat between two of them was hopeful and very teary.
I love you two brave souls for being 200% honest about filmmaking which is not sometimes popular and can possibly hurt emotional audience but you two put it out there, whether butthurts like it or not ❤️
I just watched it today and thought it was great! The mum knew he would never allow her to leave him. At the end we see he begs to be freed and claims her will leave quietly. Once they free him he comes to attack her again before being hit by the train. Even if she didn't want to harm him he leaves her no choice. All actors gave a great performance.
The liver cirrhosis thing, a doctor told my uncle that he has liver chirhosis months ago and he's still drinking. So I think the symptoms depends on person to person and it's not uncommon for men in India to keep drinking even after they have symptoms and until they die. In the film, Vijay leaves alcohol for quite sometime though.
I think it was to highlight what a selfish coward he is. He wouldn’t do it for his wife or baby. He claimed he tried a lot but couldn’t. But when it became risky for himself he immediately stopped.
I absolutely loved it...the thing is if you want to send a message through your film Rick, you need to insure that more audiences watch your movie and for that to happen you need to make sure that a) it's not too dark, because it eliminates a lot of the youth and people older than the millennials...imo people just don't prefer to watch dark movies in the little time they get off from work...so layering the darkness and introducing a few comic scenes makes it much more digestible to the masses.
I disagree. Introducing comical stuff kills the serious vibe of the movie and the subject matter. And people suddenly lose interest. It's almost like saying - include comedy in a horror movie. Entertainment comes in every form - romance, fear, thrill, suspence, comedy. If you are sailing in two boats there's gonna be no conclusion. It doesn't let people grasp the theme, the vibe of the movie. Don't horror movies, dark movies, suspense, crime thrillers reach larger audience? Of course they do and they become superhit because of that very reason.
I found second half a bit weak because of direction otherwise great movie... unfortunately you missed on some cultural, lingual as well as physical adaptations especially with facial expressions which was well-acted and never looked cliched
Talking about the subject matter... You should really give it a watch Thappad feat Taapsee... It deals with similar subject but the protagonist takes a different route when it happens to her... Unlike this movie Thappad not a very in your face kind of movie.. It's way more subtle...
@@thechuckleshow2470 it means they are not being subtle in trying to put the message across. They wanted to show it and make us comfortable about the subject matter.
Did anyone else feel the salon lady knew what Alia and Shefali had done? Her expressions during the funeral scene made me feel that way. It's like an unsaid look of understanding passes between the two.
Do explore Divya Dutta......she's definitely on the level of Shefali Shah but hardly gets a mention. She was the sister of Farhan Akhthar in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
For your info - The film score is composed and produced by Prashant Pillai, while the soundtrack is written by Vishal Bhardwaj and Mellow D with lyrics by Gulzar and the latter.
The police officer is also the dialogue writer of the film - Vijay Maurya, most famous for his dialogue-writing for GULLY BOY. (Though he should be most famous for playing Dawood Ibrahim in Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday)
Good review. Honest and complete. Well done. Anil Mehta, the cinematographer/DOP, is one of the thespians and the top cinematographer for 2-3 decades. He did Lagaan, Veer Zara, Khamoshi(Sanjay leela bhansalis first movie), highway, kal ho naa ho, Rockstar, badlapur and many more movies. Generally, I felt the subtitle was decent.. they did a good job of translating the “Darlings”, “lovings” etc. well. Most of the comedy was well done. That said, the coward word was meek.. i understand why they did not use the stricter translation which may be offensive to some audiences. (The exact translation is “unmasculine”. The intended meaning was more close to e***ch…they chose “coward” instead of “sissy” in the subtitles. Sissy could have worked mildly)
It hit hard because same day I heard about Mandeep kaur committing suicide in New York. She suffered domestic abuse for 8 years at the hands of her evil husband. 😥
Common guys give some respect to Prashant Pillai. He did the score. Vishal Bhardwaj did only two songs in this film. What Prashant Pillai watched this review. He will think your bias.
@Rick : Liver cirrhosis is pregressive decease. It doesn't have to be all the intense symptoms you mention. It could start with pain but usually you see skin changes but if you are not aware of the changes you don't notice it until you get pain. Also liver cirrhosis is reversible if you do stop drinking, depending on when it is detected and how bad it is.
I still.remember, as a child we had a horror show "mano ya na mano". Shefali shah was in an episode where she did cannibalism. What a great episode. I still remember the scene where she ate raw meat from refrigerator at night.
Shefali Shah was gold in this movie if u knew Hindi this was even more amazing than English subs agreed subs did injustice to the movie.... It was way more fun for Indian ppl.,.....
While watching movie I had turned off subtitles and I used to turn on just to see what's subtitles are written for few scenes and it didn't hav the same impact. So if you wanna react/watch hindi movies then u gotta learn the language. It will be helpful. Thanks 😁
Anurag kashyap is not making the movie he want to make for sure. In an interview he said he watched malayalam movie 'Pada' and he loved it. He said I want to make movies like this but I cant do it in hindi. I am glad atleast malayalam movies still can do.
it's possible that he lied to her about giving up and continued drinking at his workplace or maybe he did experience withdrawal but the director didn't get enough screen time to show that. like they had to move on with the rest of the story and show other more important stuff
It does not have to be darker. Abuse exists in different ways and to different extremes. She did not have to have a broken arm or foot in each encounter. Abuse is still abuse.
Please watch Jhund. It is the best film of 2022 and the direction by Nagraj Manjule is excellent. Amitabh Bachchan is great and the new cast is phenomenal.
Hi Rick and Corbin, thank you for the review. You ahould watch Rakhi with NTR junir Amazing movie qnd Performa.Deeply moving and very well acted Your type of movie.
Chris Nolan is also frm those directors who don't care abt money..... Ik U guys don't like him much but he's on whole different level in terms of making movies ...... Excited for Oppenheimer......
My biggest gripe was Hamza wasn't screaming at the top of his voice while being conscious. Sure, he might have been knocked out, but he could have attracted attention. Also, when he cut loose, why did he not run out?!
I reckon it’s an ego thing - what’s he going to scream? I’m getting beat by my wife? (That’d be out of character for him to accept) also, running away would be like accepting defeat (also very out of character considering what his last words were)
I thought about this too, in fact I was saying it out loud at the screen. But the more I think about it , especially keeping in mind all the things he says and tries to do to get a win even in that situation, I feel Hamza didn't scream because he wanted the satisfaction of fooling her again. For example when he's trying to convince her that he will bash his head in but then immediately stops when Shefali challenges him and he looks at her with anger because Alia was falling for it. He wants that. Even in the end when she lets him go, he could go away live in peace but he refuses to do so because he wants to control her so bad.
netflix did a bad job with the english subs. so much mistranslation! i guess they were lazy, if you see it carefully they translated to give you a short version of the actual dialogue. why couldn't they just translate word for word?! people would've understood that much better. they didn't translate the dialogue, they gave an english "version" of the dialogues. i mean seriously, coward for "namard" ? just say impotent or just non-man 😅
i don't think this movie's message is domestic violence the theme is. because if it is i agree with you guys a lot more could be done .but I don't think they were making a hard core movie on domestic violence . i think its more about the last part about not being a scorpion .
Can anyone explain why there was a long pause in a scene between Zulfi and badru's mom? It was when they were shooting for the Home food service AD. Shefali says something like" Its just not for money, I need a reason to get up everyday ". There was a long pause after that. Can anyone explain?
It was that look saying he liked her and she kind of understood it but got a bit uncomfortable since he is quite younger so immediately put her duppatta..
May be some people are upset bcoz even though it's a comedy, it does somewhat normalize abuse against men for the sake of retaliation instead of going for the ethical & legal route If it was a commercial over the top project then that might have been acceptable but since it is supposed to be a serious story about a socially relevant topic, that element does make it a bit problematic considering the already vulnerable position of male victims in our society There was also a scene where they were putting false accusations against Zulfi in the police station Also that scene with poking holes in a condom, that is considered as statutory r*pe as it involves violating consent......not in India but in some countries with gender neutral laws It also once again highlights the double standards w.r.t. treatment of genders in media
Spoilers: Interesting that you both had different views on whether they killed him or if it was a suicide. I think the idea of the film was to keep it open to audience interpretation, thus keeping open the question as to whether the protagonists were scorpions or frogs. This is further backed up mother's revelation, but we're kept in the dark about the details of what happened there either.
Definitely not a suicide. He loved himself way too much. See how he immediately quit alcohol when it was his live on danger? Also, just before he died, he made nasty threats. How he would kill her, just like he killed their daughter
Either the dark side of the movie n comedy should hv run simultaneously or should hv had some balance to make it a dark comedy. But it was totally dark n then the comedy part was pushed into it so inartistically that it made it frivolous on the whole. In short, the balance was not kept between the two.
I think if the movie was a Netflix movie from the start like Thar then they would have gone a lot darker. But due to Theatrical release and certification they stepped down from getting darker
@our stupid reaction Please react on this song i know you will lovw it "Lipstick Laga Ke - Full Video | Great Grand Masti | Sonali Raut, Riteish D, Vivek O, Aftab S"
Why Alia and taapsee act and look exactly same in all their movies? Whatever the age, religion, locality or Background of their characters these two actresses always look and act same. Just like it's tough to guess from a Tiger Shroff scene that it belongs to which movie. It's really tough to guess the movie from any Alia Bhatt or Taapsee Pannu act. Although on paper Alia has done such a huge variety of roles, but we just get to see Alia in these roles, we never get to see the actual character. From Darlings to Gangubai to Raazi and so on same expressions same acting again and again. Other main actresses like Anushka, Deepika, Priyanka, Kangana, Vidya don't suffer from this problem. They actually get into the character and act accordingly.
Won't agree completely that she acts the same all the time, but she is a bit overrated. Sorry for the spoiler but the "Beti thi" scene felt it lacked rage, angst, sorrow, exhaustion. It felt very superfluous.
So true. Her acting is like rehearsed. She doesnt live in the moment isliye it doesnt come off as natural. Very robotic. Her breaking down scenes i could never feel her emotions which results in not liking the character she plays. Also her nose flaring distracts a lot.. i feel whatever good she does..the other supporting actors eleviate her performance even more. Or if the script is good you are bound to like the movie. Darlings was stretched, not a good screenplay. The film was promoted as a dark comedy but they failed big time. Cant do light comedy toh dark comedy dur ki baat hai. I liked vijay verma's performance tho
Udta Punjab and gangubai, same? Highway and darlings, same? I saw completely different people. Highway, udta punjab really stayed with me though. Post gully boy I don't find myself going back and thinking about any of her scenes randomly. I do think about Mary Jane's moments. Also I find myself discussing only her earlier films. Many others are forgettable. Even raazi for that matter. But yes some taapsee films I can catch parts I can't believe or invest in.
WHat did you think of the film?
Average but that's ok we don't mind
Please watch Tamil Series Suzhal in prime..
Nothing
Liked it too
React to jaby koay interview with Alia Bhatt.

I like this take.
Totally agree, it doesn’t need to get darker to have more weight to the message.
when he said he wanted it to be darker, i think he was talking about his torture scenes and alcohol abuse, not him abusing alia.
When will you get to Irrfan's dark comedy 'Blackmail' (2018)?
Yea they gotta watch it asap.I liked it a lot

'Very in your face movie' means?
@@thechuckleshow2470 it means they are not being subtle in trying to put the message across. They wanted to show it and make us comfortable about the subject matter.

Did anyone else feel the salon lady knew what Alia and Shefali had done? Her expressions during the funeral scene made me feel that way. It's like an unsaid look of understanding passes between the two.
She sees them drag him down the stairs, yeah.
Was a fun movie! Great performance from all the actors.
By the way guys, Vishal Bhardwaj has only composed the three songs on the Soundtrack. The Background Score of the film was done by Prashant Pillai.
Please watch aavasavyuham...you guys are missing out a gem of work
The police officer is also the dialogue writer of the film - Vijay Maurya, most famous for his dialogue-writing for GULLY BOY.
Sissy could have worked mildly)
impotent is the exact word they should have used here.
@@divyak9980 nice! I like that translation…
It hit hard because same day I heard about Mandeep kaur committing suicide in New York. She suffered domestic abuse for 8 years at the hands of her evil husband. 😥
#JusticeforMandeep
RIP 🙏
Sad you both didint get a chance to interview alia
Common guys give some respect to Prashant Pillai. He did the score. Vishal Bhardwaj did only two songs in this film. What Prashant Pillai watched this review. He will think your bias.
@Rick : Liver cirrhosis is pregressive decease. It doesn't have to be all the intense symptoms you mention. It could start with pain but usually you see skin changes but if you are not aware of the changes you don't notice it until you get pain. Also liver cirrhosis is reversible if you do stop drinking, depending on when it is detected and how bad it is.
There's non alcoholic liver cirrhosis too.
He was actually bragging about liver cirrhosis.
I still.remember, as a child we had a horror show "mano ya na mano". Shefali shah was in an episode where she did cannibalism. What a great episode. I still remember the scene where she ate raw meat from refrigerator at night.
I think half of the fun was lost in translations and relativity
Shefali Shah was gold in this movie if u knew Hindi this was even more amazing than English subs agreed subs did injustice to the movie.... It was way more fun for Indian ppl.,.....
While watching movie I had turned off subtitles and I used to turn on just to see what's subtitles are written for few scenes and it didn't hav the same impact. So if you wanna react/watch hindi movies then u gotta learn the language. It will be helpful. Thanks 😁
Me personally I liked the first half of the film.. the second half was a lot of compromise and silly silly comedy.
Anurag kashyap is not making the movie he want to make for sure. In an interview he said he watched malayalam movie 'Pada' and he loved it. He said I want to make movies like this but I cant do it in hindi. I am glad atleast malayalam movies still can do.
No way next of Ranveer is Rocky aur Rani which will be theatrical release because it's KJOs next project.....
it's possible that he lied to her about giving up and continued drinking at his workplace or maybe he did experience withdrawal but the director didn't get enough screen time to show that. like they had to move on with the rest of the story and show other more important stuff
The performances were amazing, but the script was moderate.
It does not have to be darker. Abuse exists in different ways and to different extremes. She did not have to have a broken arm or foot in each encounter. Abuse is still abuse.
I agree to you Korbin, Shefali Shah is very much underrated.
Please watch Jhund. It is the best film of 2022 and the direction by Nagraj Manjule is excellent. Amitabh Bachchan is great and the new cast is phenomenal.
If anyone hates or tries to boycott this movie can be pressumed he(specifically HE) is an addict or a domestic abuser.
It could also mean that he/she didn't like the direction, screenplay or didn't find the performances convincing. You can't generalise, it's immature.
I loved the movie, thank you for making this movie. All indian women should watch it and learn from it.
❤️❤️will watch it today
(That’d be out of character for him to accept) also, running away would be like accepting defeat (also very out of character considering what his last words were)
Or he underestimated what his wife could do. In his mind, he is a guy who controls her.
Just watched it. It was really good.
Roshan is really an underrated actor …..
It kept me guessing what will be the end. I was hoping Vijay Verma will be full blown American Psycho at the end 😅
Watch AAVASAVYUHAM Malayalam Mockumentary Film Streaming on Sony Liv (MUST WATCH)
Waiting for Avasa Vyuham review. Great film.
You should watch Delhi Crime, you won't call Shefali an underrated actor. She was never called an underrated actor.
netflix did a bad job with the english subs. so much mistranslation! i guess they were lazy, if you see it carefully they translated to give you a short version of the actual dialogue. why couldn't they just translate word for word?! people would've understood that much better. they didn't translate the dialogue, they gave an english "version" of the dialogues. i mean seriously, coward for "namard" ? just say impotent or just non-man 😅
Pls do Aavaasavyuham, now on Sony Liv. Won multiple awards for Best Film and Screenplay 2022.
Absolutely loved the movie !! So much relatable to a typical middle class family
i don't think this movie's message is domestic violence the theme is. because if it is i agree with you guys a lot more could be done .but I don't think they were making a hard core movie on domestic violence . i think its more about the last part about not being a scorpion .
🚨🚨🚨Korbin and Rick please read this!! In the thumbnail it looks like Alia is holding Rick’s chin
Great movie and actors Also Alia Bhatt Great theme and acting,,,,
Even the boss of vijay did a fantastic job..
Can anyone explain why there was a long pause in a scene between Zulfi and badru's mom? It was when they were shooting for the Home food service AD. Shefali says something like" Its just not for money, I need a reason to get up everyday ". There was a long pause after that. Can anyone explain?
Oh ya I was thinking too. Like from the pause I had already guessed that Zulfi has a soft corner for her.
I took it as she is the reason he gets up in the morning.
It was that look saying he liked her and she kind of understood it but got a bit uncomfortable since he is quite younger so immediately put her duppatta..

Watched it last night; liked it alot!
Alia came on Jaby Koay’s channel 2 days ago!
I love good luck jerry better n its trending better than darlings on ormax
Alia did a interview with jaby not with Alia fan boys
Great fun movie,,enjoyed it fully
the movie was just average but overhyped like the movies normally are nowadays
Shefali shah had a legendary performance!
Please watch Kapela (Roshan Mathew) movie.
i loved the movie. IDK wht is wrong with the peopl who didn't like it.
May be some people are upset bcoz even though it's a comedy, it does somewhat normalize abuse against men for the sake of retaliation instead of going for the ethical & legal route
If it was a commercial over the top project then that might have been acceptable but since it is supposed to be a serious story about a socially relevant topic, that element does make it a bit problematic considering the already vulnerable position of male victims in our society
There was also a scene where they were putting false accusations against Zulfi in the police station
Also that scene with poking holes in a condom, that is considered as statutory r*pe as it involves violating consent......not in India but in some countries with gender neutral laws
It also once again highlights the double standards w.r.t. treatment of genders in media
Movie was good in portraying the situations in real life as I have seen almost all of it happening very often but the last 10mins hits different.
Loved the movie. Alia is great.
Vishal Bharadwaj didn't compose the bgm score. He only composed the songs.
Watch waqt the race against time with big b and Shefali Shah as his wife and Akshay as their son also has Priyanka in it.great family film.
Spoilers:
Interesting that you both had different views on whether they killed him or if it was a suicide.
Just in this for Roshan Mathew. Do they discuss him here and where.

@@Timepass-cx1do thanks
Either the dark side of the movie n comedy should hv run simultaneously or should hv had some balance to make it a dark comedy. But it was totally dark n then the comedy part was pushed into it so inartistically that it made it frivolous on the whole. In short, the balance was not kept between the two.
Good. Now watch Secret Superstar, a much better film on a similar topic.
Watch "aavasa vyuham" malayalam trailer🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have seen the movie yesterday,
didn't realise it had humour. (dark or not)
Very nice movie and bitter truth of society
The only fans alia has are BTS purple heart kids. Although BTS has some talent unlike her.
I think if the movie was a Netflix movie from the start like Thar then they would have gone a lot darker. But due to Theatrical release and certification they stepped down from getting darker
Par netflix movie hi to hai. Its not gonna release in theatres.
@@haripppalady.7873 it's also released in theatres.

Kangana Ranaut fan? or a bollywood hater? which one are you?
Are you out of your mind? Was Alia same in Dear Zindagi, Kapoor and sons, Udta Punjab etc etc?
