Aamir did a film which was directed by his wife Kiran called Dhobi ghat it is not the usual Bollywood film the characters are written with a lot of depth and the story is about four people living in Mumbai from different classes and how circumstances have their lives intersect. Something different for Aamir.

The director of this movie was Aamir's manager for a few years and then wrote a script and shared it with Aamir he loved it and wanted to produce it. Aamir wasn't sure at first if he wanted to do the role in the movie as he had just played the dad in dangal so he did an audition and then became part of the movie.

I came to know that this movie didn't worked much In India so I didn't watched but when I got to know that it got so much appreciation from outside of India then without any expectations "today" I let myself to watch it maybe for the starting few mins but the content it had totally had me & I couldn't let myself to exit from it. I was filled in tears throughout (sometimes sweet and sometimes bitter with anxiety). The protagonist acted so well that whenever he entered in the room, he completely made me anxious like what is going to happen with them now 🥲 & honestly I was so scared of his screen presence.
But the ending was a "Total worth 🤧"
Yes there were some unrealistic things in this movie which we couldn't expect in the real world but still it's an another masterpiece of sir "Amir Khan ⭐".

Zaira Wasim left Bollywood because she got hate? The confidence with which Rick says this is so funny! She did get hate, and wrongfully so, because she decided to leave Bollywood as she wanted to lead a supposedly more "spiritual life" and according to her Bollywood is among those things that were a hindrance on her way to that kind of life! But she didn't leave because people hated her for "religious reasons"! I understand that given the present political climate of India, this narrative does fit in well but that's not true in this case!

I mean they see everything simplistically. They have huge stereotypes about many things in India( especially religious stuff). And they are not the type of people who tries to understand and read by taking effort. And naturally they blindly believe what they get from social media and celebrity posts and news articles from India. They didn't even know how partition of India happened. They still believe something else. Can't criticize them they are 24× 7 hearing "neutral" narratives from one side through every media. They believe laal Singh chadda failed bcz Amir Khan was a muslim. Which is simple and easy to beleive narrative. They will never understand why many people boycotted and attacked PS 1.Bcz it is complicated.

Present political climate of india is the by product of one sided minority appeasement and socialism for past 60 years and ignoring the 1000 year old historic oppression of arabian cult ideology wherever it is in the world and giving away big parts of land of india to that ideology in 1947 which will remain forever as a sign of fake secularism and peak minority appeasement. Blame the past if u dont like the present. To have better future, the present in which we are living is very much needed.

@@druvacitrix8552 Well, she has herself repeatedly made it clear that it was her decision to lead the kind of life she wanted and I believe her. What you are saying is just an ASSUMPTION and you have hardly any proof to consolidate your statement while we have a number of clips where Zaira (who comes across as an extremely smart and intelligent person), herself states that she CHOSE to lead that kind of life, asking people to stop making assumptions about her being brainwashed! In fact, she has been doing a lot of online video conversations on RUclips about her understanding and ways of practicing Islam and has been sharing excerpts from the holy books and explaining them. I don't think all these can be done by a naive, brainwashed person! If Rick meant she LEFT Bollywood because she got hate for religious reasons, as in she got hate from her brethren (as you happen to believe), that's taking away her agency from her and deliberately underplaying and silencing her voice by doing exactly what she has been repeatedly asking people not to do! And if Rick means to say that she got hate in Bollywood because she was a Muslim, that's just an uninformed, plain stupid statement! Either way, that statement in itself, (when not elaborated) doesn't make much sense! I hope I made sense!

@Ulfatein Deewaane How is the OP being bigoted? Stating a fact is not being a bigot. The poor girl was made to feel ashamed of her achievements by her own community and compelled to leave the industry. How non Muslims reacted to this BS wasn't instrumental in her decision. If Muslims had their way, Sania Mirza would've had to leave tennis in her early 20s too and never would've achieved all the great things she went on to do. Good for Sania for ignoring Islamic bigots and pulling through. Too bad this girl was young and internalized the misogyny inherent in Islam and let that tank an otherwise promising career

To see that all these people found my country and it's culture beautiful, reinforced my faith in it. I needed validation that it was okay to be melodramatic and loud and burst into songs for no reason in the middle of a story. I needed validation because I was insecure. Insecure because my fellow Indians taught me to be. They made fun of SRK while they praised Tom Cruise. They mocked Bhansali's Devdas as being over the top while adored Titanic. Your research about Zaira Wasim is wrong. Zaira Wasim left the film industry because of her religion and the kind of environment in which she lives. Zaira Wasim is from Kashmir, Downtown Kashmir to be specific. You are aware of the kind of place Kashmir is; in Downtown it gets a little trickier. The place where she grew up is filled with Pro Pakistan Islamic Fundamentalists, who are strictly against movies. In one of her first interviews, Zaira had said that through her work she wants to show her people the good side of cinema, she wanted them to realize that it's not just vulgarity, because that's what people believe it to be.
There are multiple interviews of her available on RUclips, and in every single one of them you will notice that she got nervous when asked about her future in movies. Zaira was not only a good actress but also had a good sense of humour, as was evident in all her interviews. It was impossible to imagine that a girl like her would one day just call it quits, all of a sudden. In Kashmir, there used to be an all girl music band, called 'Pragaash', a first of its kind. That band had to call it quits after receiving a Fatwa from the Grand Mufti, asking them to stop their act as it was against their religion. In their final interview, the girls didn't even show their face, but their scared voice told everything. Zaira Wasim's statement about her retirement from acting may have been a written message, but it had a similar feeling. She kept saying that it's all a sin, and her religion does not allow the line of work she's in.
Zaira Wasim used to be quite active on social media when she was an actress, and apart from a lot of love from her admirers, she also received some dangerous messages on the posts she made. The hate that she received, was only from her own Kashmiri community. She used to receive messages like, 'she is doing very wrong, the Mujahideen should teach her a lesson'. You should know that there were no cinema halls in Kashmir up until recently; do you wonder why?
A lot of angry voices emerged after she retired from the film industry, due to various reasons; some were genuinely upset that a talent like hers will go wasted, she was born to act. Some were angry because she called acting in movies a sin; a number of Muslims are a part of the industry, and most of them are doing some good quality work; how are they sinners? Some were angry because not everyone is so lucky, actors and actresses struggle for work, and she got to work with a superstar like Aamir Khan, twice, at the beginning of her career, and Aamir Khan called her the best actress of India and yet she decided to throw it all away. Some were angry because her choice was a religious one, and religion does get people riled up.

I'm not sure what Rick is referring to here regarding Zaira being bullied out of bollywood for being muslim?? SRK/Aamir/Salman are all muslim! Zaira chose to withdraw from acting due to her more hardcore islamic faith - it was considered haram for her to continue I guess. This decision of hers was what drew a lot of flak (not saying it's right that this happened or she deserved it at all - but just pointing out that she didn't leave due to bullying/hate and the indian audience shouldn't be blamed for something she chose to do on her own.) There's been plenty of actresses in the past who made the same choice as her when they decided to follow islam more closely, but I guess Zaira being so young, the audience got frustrated with her decision to leave for such reasons.

I think its important to add that in a couple of cases involving Muslim actresses in film or TV/cable, it was their choice to embrace the restrictions placed by some hardcore interpretations of Islam due to pressure from within their community. In Zaira's case it was that and geopolitics of Kashmir. So religious bigotry from other religious groups wasn't involved. Just a clarification as for someone uninitiated, given current religo-political situation, it might be interpreted wrongly. These actresses mustve been under quite SOME pressure but frankly I hated their retirement statements.

I get what you said Rick regarding Don't Worry Darling but the way Olivia Wilde threw Jordan Peterson under the bus slandering him just because she didn't agree with him ,I can't support such movies.JP cried because of that .There is no real relation between them still the way she chose to show him as villain is pathetic

She left bollywood because as per many Muslims across world such things are "Haram" in their religion. It was her own choice or may be the hate she got from her own religion's people who dictate how to dress, what to do etc etc.

It looks like Rick didn't really like the film, but stopped short of revealing his actual thoughts because of Aamir Khan. Korbin did like the film though, it seems. As usual they digressed constantly and talked more about other things than the actual film. I prefer Jaby and Achara's review of this film over this.

Rick thinks people didn't know that Lal Singh Chadda was good film. The hate against Bollywood stars is not organic but a manufactured hate it has to do a lot with politics in India, diverting people's thoughts, using SSR for 130 days and diverting people from covid, economic crises, unemployment crisis health care failure, death of migrant workers, restaurant owners giving up their lives as the growing inflation and decreasing income since 2014, underreporting of deaths, people losing jobs and commiting suicide due to lockdown etc etc, also political opinions of Bollywood stars how the ideologies of spreading communal harmony is different from current political ideology hence all the hatred will just fade away in no time as soon as the BJP IT cell and godi media stops spreading hate against that person. Some films that made people rational instead of communal were Article 15, Mulk, PK, kaala, secret superstar, gully boy, bajrangi bhaijaan, Bajirao Mastani etc they can't let people to think rationally and not behave like extremists cause that can create a problem during elections. Also they want Bollywood to move from Mumbai to UP that is also some political issue. Kangna Ranaut is a big supporter of political party in power they both mutually help each other. So no need to take any hate comment seriously. BJP IT-cell just makes something trend on social media and some people are dumb like a mob they just go with the flow. Every Muslim in India will have to become a nuclear scientist for the majority to finally accept them as equal citizens😂Maybe even then it might be called science jihad. What else is expected from a mob of half wits who try to compensate their absence of reason and logic with aggression and bigotry? A mob that can't distinguish between history & mythology. A mob that can't prioritise between religion & humanity. The Mob that can't even distinguish between the value of a human life & an animal life. The mob that has been taught to be proud and complacent on the achievements it never contributed to. That has been made to believe the whole world is conspiring against it, because it was once great. The mob that is imbecile and blind to not realise that it doesn't have slightest of contribution to the modern human society.
It's too much to ask this mob to read between the lines and to catch the nuanced tactics, establishments play, to achive their purposes. Otherwise there was no reason to hate someone who made films like Taare Zameen par, Three Idiots, Dangal, Sarfarosh, Rang de Basanti, who is 4 times National award winner, who won a PADMASHREE in 2003, won a PADMABHUSHAN in 2010, whose film Lagaan the first Indian film which got selected in the Oscars, who has done shows for social causes called Satya Mev Jayte which helped so many Indians, whose pani path foundation is helping so many farmers in Maharashtra where he is personally visiting villages, people are calling this man anti-national?😅

They are already fed with enough of these half baked truths. They are getting these narratives which is very easy to believe. They believe laal Singh chadda failed bcz Amir Khan was a muslim, which is not true but easy to believe narrative. It is difficult to understand why PS 1 is getting attacked. Bcz u have to understand lot of cultural minute and complex stuff. They didn't even know how partition of India happened. They believe some leftist narrative or stereotype. Overall they have got most of your narratives . It is easy. To understand the other side u have to understand a ton of social stuff.
