Story of every other Indian household, where women get hurt either physically or mentally by the so called 'men' , Mostly seen in people of lower socioeconomic backgrounds, irrespective of any religion.
People who seen hindu Muslim even in this issue need to research about this problem on ground level. To solve the problem, you need to recognise it first, instead of blaming it on a single religion and living in denial like most of the comments here.

p.s: this is the problem afflicted on every 1 in 4 women in Indian households, irrespective of the religion. seen in people of middle class families, most commonly in people below the poverty line.
in south asia sadly it is still very common for families to celebrate the birth of a son and get sad over the birth of a daughter. this is why it is illegal in india to know the gender of your child because it caused a lot of female infanticide and a lot of women were forced into abortions very late into their pregnancies. this is why the dad is much more lenient with his son
Men bring bride...dowry...take care of parents at old age...and the kids carry father's surname...not forget security of women and all.....soooo...even education won't make a difference...we recently lost a doctor to dowry...but still...do you really want your daughter to be born ?
I'm sure this is true in rural India. The tables are turned in urban India. Women delay child-bearing for their careers or make the decision to not have children even if their partners want children, thanks to women's education and empowerment.

Corporal punishment in school was quite common for the longest time. One of our teachers used the straight edge of a ruler to hit us on the knuckles; others stuck to hitting us on the palms. It began tapering off during the late 90s and 00s, and from what I understand has all but disappeared almost all over India, except maybe in tier 3 and perhaps tier 2 schools.
Even though it doesn't happen so common these days, sadly the majority's mindset haven't changed. Many people think that they are doing some big favour when they say "if it were the olden times, I would have beaten you black and blue" or "you are lucky that you were born to me. If you were born to your grandpa, you wouldn't have been alive now". Even saying these things imply that corporal punishment is still valued, but not done due to fear of law or other things.
The dad was the most assh0le character in any movie you could see.
It's sad that we will not see more of zaira movies in Bollywood, she's such a talented kid but her parents didn't allow to continue her acting career just because of the religion that's so sad cause Bollywood is being dominated by the king khans they all are Muslims so why the religion is different for a another gender 😢
