Yeah, Pikmin 2 isn't as fun when you consider the level "design", which mainly involves randomized, yet samey and uninspired dungeon layouts, with tons of bomb rocks and random enemies falling from the sky, forcing the player to play safe with a solo captain to trigger all the traps, before actually playing through the level with the rest of the squad. It's right next to Pikmin 4 in terms of being the most unbalanced games in the franchise (but at least Pikmin 4 is consistently unbalanced in the player's favor, and doesn't give them whiplash between being annoyingly tedious/difficult, and impossibly easy)
I always thought 3 was the best balance wise (outside of challenge states), because sure red and yellows aren’t forced to be useful by making their elements overpowered like in 1 and 2 respectfully, but yellows can be thrown both further and higher thanks to motion controls making aiming better along with them either helping or being necessary for completion throughout the majority of the adventure, but reds being the only type in Pikmin 3’s story to do more damage while grabbing an enemy makes them good for damage based tasks like destroying dirt walls, and they are worth bringing along to kill the slooches which feel like an actual threat in 3 due to the paths Pikmin might take, and they are worth bring along in a good chunk of boss fights (Armored Mawdad, Behemoth Phosbat, Scornet Maiestro, and quaggled mierclops) just for the extra damage since even a high number of wings on floating boss struggle to reach damage thresholds fast.
What really sucks is that white pikmin did DOUBLE damage in super smash bros brawl, probably to make up for no characters having poison attacks. Yes, Hal Laboratories balanced the pikmin better than Nintendo themselves because they all have tiny advantages.

As a huge fan of Pikmin 3 (It's my favorite entry in the series) the under utilization of Purple and White pikim is the game's biggest flaw. Could you imagine how insane Bingo Battle or the mission modes would've been if the Purple and White pikmim maintained the same attributes from Pikmin 2?
Some weird expirience I have years ago, was that when I was playing mission mode I vividly remember getting that orange bulbord to stunt, it’s so weird to think about… It’s even more weird when you think how in Pikmin 3 there was an unused poison géiser, so I finished it was just fire geiser’s emo brother, but that means whites at one niche point had more to them
i think a way to fix white pikmin is to give them some extra ablities, such as them poisoning any enemy they attack, and make them crazy fast, wings in 4 got extra nerfed because now in most places they follow the same pikmin paths
I feel as if because people did nothing but complain about Purples in Pikmin 3, nobody payed enough attention to the whites, and as such, they stayed unbalanced.
On thing I’ve noticed about Purples is how inconsistent their latching tends to be I’ve had moments where they do latch onto the enemy, but there theres moments where they straight up can’t or just don’t choose to since they slide off the enemy, which is just incredibly odd to me that they just didn’t choose to fix it in 3DX or even in an update to the game
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the digging speed in Pikmin 3 is actually like 2, where its based on attack strength. The exception is Yellows though, who are tied with Rocks for the fastest dig speed. So Purples were still nerfed in that regard, but only because their attack was.
Personally I think Nintendo directly insulting me for using Purple Pikmin would instantly make them the best type, thank god that didn’t happen or else this video would look very different.
You know, purple Pikmin in the next Pikmin game can be good if they remove the slam and make them do 2x damage (like normal) but weigh enemies down so they slow them down
And have it so Ice Pikmin slow enemies down more (not freeze them) and do less damage. Slowed enemies also attack and swing slower, allowing you to mix in purples or ice for high damage and the ability to slow *CERTAIN* enemies down.
Honestly it’s stuff like this and Pikmin 4’s poor balancing act that makes me wish the next game just cut out most of the Pikmin except the base 3 alongside some new pikmin.
funnily enough whites are also the worst in pikmin bloom, they're the weakest pikmin type to beat up mushrooms, they're faster at carrying stuff than other ground pikmin but it doesn't matter because winged pikmin exist, and since winged pikmin exist, you'd only really use non winged pikmin for destroying mushrooms, which as previously mentioned, whites are terrible at. at least they're cute
I actually found white Pikmin to be rather on par with winged Pikmin in 4. I would often utilize both types as a sort of clean-up crew once most of an area has been explored and all that's left are various miscellaneous objectives, like the retrieval of leaflings and treasures I had missed in the sweep, and also some berry farming if I can afford it. Wings have the luxury of taking shortcuts, which certainly makes them better in some situations, but oftentimes the map layouts are just sprawls of flat land where there are no such shortcuts to take, which makes whites my go-to type for this task. Being relegated to the role of clean-up is admittedly not a very glorious task, and they are still rather niche outside of this job, but it's one that stays relevant throughout the entire game so I belief there is some merit to that.
Damn in all honestly I didnt even know purples and whites were in pikmin 3. I only played the main story (and olimar missions) before moving to the 4th game. Im just baffled by these changes and honestly glad I didn't witness them myself ingame.
Thanks to a programming fuck up. Whites are faster then Pink's if you have more than 66 Pikmin out in 3. If you have 67 or more Pikmin out, the game simplifies Pikmin animations, which slows Pink's down for some reason. No idea if this is the case in 4, Pink's feel so worthless in 4 that they're probably in slow mode no matter what.
For some reason my dumb brain didn’t even try using purples for enemies because I mostly used them for carrying stuff, but man it was still simple to tell at bit that purples were nerfed hard, Whites however are……Aight
The most disappointing thing about White Pikmin for me is that they never brought back their unique robotic voice from their introduction cutscene in 2, though it may've been an error on their part and wasn't intended since they haven't brought it back? But idk, it's kinda lame how Rock, Ice, wing and glow pikmin do get unique voices but the other 2 specials don't?
With Pikmin 3 having a rough development and an entire area cut, I wouldn't ve surprised that purples are actually just bugged and they didn't have the dev time to fix them
There're only 3 stages with both wings and whites, thirsty desert and it's remix and the Christmas one. The first thirsty desert they're probably at their most useless, you have to turn reds into whites which takes time, so fair. The remix you're replacing purples, whites are significantly better than wings on the entire right half of the map and there are only so many wings you can get in the first place, and they're significantly faster than purples, it's much better than if they were to make them any other non winged pikmin, possibly better than winged too. The last is the Christmas level where they're just grabbing nuggets the whole time, winged are better for sure on that map, but you just don't get many. Winged pikmin are slower than other non white pikmin sometimes as well. Between the slightly slower pickup time and having slower carry speed when there are over 66 pikmin on the field (ngl, I thought they were just always slower until I went to fact check myself) wings aren't even always the fastest option without whites. (the carry speed only effects thirsty desert of the 3 with whites btw) I'm not saying whites aren't the worst pikmin in 3, but there are situations where wings are less effective even in the few times they do overlap. I feel like the way whites are used in mission mode without wings is very intentional, because most of the maps have insane shortcuts wings could take, or allow blues to be the optimal carrier in some situations. But mostly whites allow for a speed carrier in maps that would be broken by wings and I appreciate them for existing.
Playing 2, 3, and 4 back to back and seeing the state of white and purple on 3 is horrowing. However, I think the worst version of them were in 1 and Hey, where they got nerfed into not existing
I personally think that Purples are pretty ok in Pikmin 3 not amazing but not horrible they are also quite helpful in bingo battles considering you are limited to 50 Pikmin so instead of wasting 20% of your squad on an item that weighs 10 Pikmin use 1 purple and while yes it is slow it allows you to have more Pikmin which you can use to stall your opponent and you'll also have more Pikmin to carry items. It's really sad to see what they did to white Pimin in Pikmin 3 they went from the best in the serise to by far the worst in the serise (yes I think 2's white Pikmin are better that 2's purples) my solution to fix white Pikmin would be to make there digging speed fast remove the damage nerf or make them stronger than pink Pikmin but weaker than blue and yellow Pikmin also make a lethal Poison hazard which is as deadly as Pikmin 1 gamecube fire also no more dogs/ pikmin type limit we need reason for people to use other types of Pikmin.
The purples and whites because treasure carrying slaves, it’s really sad tbh. The whites ONLY go to nugget piles and purples ONLY go to big treasures which could’ve been carried by wings in the first place, so why use purples and whites???
White pikmin really should be the fastest diggers. They live underground and digging buried treasure was their thing in pikmin 2. Yellow pikmin being the best at digging doesn’t make sense. Yellow pikmin like to be high up, not down in the dirt.
Hot take: Marshmallows and Stars is better than Lucky Charms. Yeah that's right, I said it. The marshmallows are way less scratchy and chalky. Eating Lucky Charms hurts my teeth and ears.
"If you don't include Puffmin..." You shouldn't include Puffmin in the first place, cuz they're not a Pikmin type. They're a status effect, pretty much. They are normal Pikmin with a skin disease, not a separate type.
ngl, i thought whites had half damage in pikmin 2 aswell... it seems like a fair tradeoff for their speed and their ability to decimate enemies' health pools just by being digested ONCE
My favourite pikmin type has been delegated to worse wingeds with a niche hazard immunity and an unoptimal gimmick. Being a fan of something so shit, is this what loving blues feels like?

(the carry speed only effects thirsty desert of the 3 with whites btw) I'm not saying whites aren't the worst pikmin in 3, but there are situations where wings are less effective even in the few times they do overlap. I feel like the way whites are used in mission mode without wings is very intentional, because most of the maps have insane shortcuts wings could take, or allow blues to be the optimal carrier in some situations. But mostly whites allow for a speed carrier in maps that would be broken by wings and I appreciate them for existing.
Not only is that a bfdi mouth in the thumbnail... Its a pikmin video so i HAD TO CLICK
Playing 2, 3, and 4 back to back and seeing the state of white and purple on 3 is horrowing. However, I think the worst version of them were in 1 and Hey, where they got nerfed into not existing
Isn't it weird that white pikmin eventualy became the best attack in the game and it involves them becoming forgotten in the pikolopedia?

OSC COMMUNITY, FLOOD THE COMMENTS
JADEN SALDAS IMONLYHEREFORPIKMIN BOTH UPLOADED, its a miracle
The purples and whites because treasure carrying slaves, it’s really sad tbh. The whites ONLY go to nugget piles and purples ONLY go to big treasures which could’ve been carried by wings in the first place, so why use purples and whites???
Fun fact: there actually are poison geysers in Pikmin 3, but they remain unused even in mission mode
"THIS FOOL THOUGHT WE PROGRAMMED THE ATTACK CORRECTLY"
Was so sad when we didn't get puffmon back that's the one thing I was looking forward to in pikmin 4.
White pikmin really should be the fastest diggers. They live underground and digging buried treasure was their thing in pikmin 2. Yellow pikmin being the best at digging doesn’t make sense. Yellow pikmin like to be high up, not down in the dirt.
Bfdi mouth on the purple pikmin in the thumbnail
i was concerned purples in pikmin 4 will behave the same way they behave in pikmin 3, thankfully they made purples op again
Is nobody gonna talk about the BFDI mouth in the thumbnail?
EXACTLY
Honestly Pikmin 3 blues are quite possibly the worst EVER. They're completely overshadowed by the winged pikmin who do everything they do but faster
The worst type is all of them (except Rocks)
Im very curious how strong they would really be in the context of Mission mode if they kept their pikmin 2 qualities?
BFDI MOUTH 😭😭😭
Wow I had no idea they nerfed purples and whites in 3!!! That sucks
Probably top 3 of weekly content makers out there
bfdi mouth in the thumbnail 👍
Hey, at least they came back at all and didn't become lost media
5:19 irish person here just wondering if you can get them in ireland or if you're just using them as an example. seriously, that's it.
Hot take: Marshmallows and Stars is better than Lucky Charms. Yeah that's right, I said it. The marshmallows are way less scratchy and chalky. Eating Lucky Charms hurts my teeth and ears.
"If you don't include Puffmin..."
You shouldn't include Puffmin in the first place, cuz they're not a Pikmin type. They're a status effect, pretty much. They are normal Pikmin with a skin disease, not a separate type.
3:40 Swiss Army knife to plastic shiv, you hate to see it
Ngl, as a blue pikmin fan, i still loving the ice pikmins, even if they are theyre replacement
The Purple pikmim and White Pikmin were heavily nerfed in Pikmin 3. And that’s sad.
How did you not mention Maltigimin?
ngl, i thought whites had half damage in pikmin 2 aswell...
it seems like a fair tradeoff for their speed and their ability to decimate enemies' health pools just by being digested ONCE
BFDI MOUTH
Man i love the iconic Pikmin character [Caption] Olimar
purple pikmin has beefydie mouth in thumbnail!
My favourite pikmin type has been delegated to worse wingeds with a niche hazard immunity and an unoptimal gimmick. Being a fan of something so shit, is this what loving blues feels like?
video concept: rating the pikmin and the captains voices
1:44 Purple Pikmins in pikmin 3 are swarm type pikmin
white pikmin is fine cause white boy got the swag turned on
Ourple kimpin in thres go soft, but in fourth and dos go hard
Blue Pikmin are indeed the weakest and got the worst of Pikmin 3’s Story Mode
I’d still hit though
Gotta love the BFDI mouth on Purple Pikmin xD
