The whole point of "trim allowance" is so that you do not have to sand the edges. If you sand the edges after you cut your trim allowance, then you are defeating its purpose and should not even use trim allowance. you are also making your edge worse, because once you cut the trim allowance you will have a perfectly smooth edge made from the knife, and if you then use sandpaper, it makes the edge rough. so bottom line is, if you use trim allowance then do not use sandpaper afterwards!
