My Imaginary World thats because she DIDNT die in the tunnels. fallen leaves just healed her he didn't bring her back to life. (SPOILERS FOR OMEN OF THE STARS AHEAD) She actually dies in the last book of omen of the stars saving Ivypoop from hawkfrost
I absolutely love how you can see after omen of the stars ivypool matures and becomes so much smarter and reasonable. She has so many leadership qualities and as much as I love Hollyleaf she is dead so I really would love ivypool to be deputy and eventual leader.
PiercingPaws Same, when I read Honeyfern’s death I was aware she was gonna die but I was still sad and shocked, I almost cried and I tried to but I only teared up
!!! FINALLY! I always see so much hate for Hollyleaf which always really confused me cause I loved her so much when I read the Power of Three! I have mad love for her, and it's so nice to finally see someone appreciating her! Confession time, I love listening to your videos on my commute to work! Thank you so much for making awesome content! Your thoughts are very provoking and you're very well spoken! I can't wait to see where you go from here! Thanks for making fantastic content my friend!!
*le gasp*!!! Thank you so much! And you actually should thank yourself for this video because it was you and LZRD talking about her on CatCast that inspired this video. lol
Whoot Whoot we got the Warrior Cats rap God right here! And Missing Light (amazing story) creator! Still mad at you for killing Twitch ;-; ......... meanie
Ikr when i saw this title, i though tennelle was gonna hate on hollyleaf ( cough cough my bae cough cough ) but when she said she liked her, i was like FINALLY
I compare Hollyleaf to Bluestar... they both start out as this wise character and they both get shattered. for Bluestar it's finding out about Tigerclaw dark plan and what he was doing to do. And for Hollyleaf it's finding out that the cat she loved and called her mother isn't who she thought she was.... the way Hollyleaf and Bluestar are so similar to each other is that they both had somebody who they trusted turn there backs on them.
I feel each of siblings has a parallel to older series characters. Hollyleaf is like Bluestar in that she wanted to devote herself to her clan, but was screwed over because of circumstances, and then went mad because of secrets that came out. Jayfeather is like Cinderpelt in that he became a medicine cat instead of a warrior due to a disability, and both went through periods of depression before learning to appreciate their roles. And Lionblaze is both like Brambleclaw and Graystripe, in that he trains in the Dark Forest with Tigerstar and falls in love with an outsider, and manages to get over both temptations.
@@kenyaholloway-reliford8213 tbh I have to slightly disagree. I’m currently doing a reread of the franchise (got slightly burnt out in the middle of Firestar’s Quest but yk haha) so I’m a little fuzzy on The Three’s characters, but Jay and Lion are more similar to Lionheart and Yellowfang, which is kinda cool when you consider Bluestar, Lionheart and Yellowfang were the ones who told Leafpool she needed to go back to Thunderclan. Definitely do agree though that Lionblaze is similar to Brambleclaw but in a “son wants to be just like his dad” way.
While the Erins never did officially come up with a power for Hollyleaf, I'd had a theory from the beginning over what it could be. There were a few instances in the books where Holly would think or dream something just before that thing happened or was said (such as her dreaming of chasing Willowpaw in the rain and waking up to a rainy day, or her unspoken question of "what about gatherings?" when RiverClan took over the meeting island only for Firestar to repeat that question word for word moments later. Awfully coincidental.) It's funny that'd you would talk about how proactive she was, because my personal theory was that Hollyleaf had the ability to slightly influence the fate or outcome of a certain situation, when the right "material" was there for it. It's just too bad her character was handled so... unsatisfyingly in the end. :( Dovewing was such a huge disappointment for me once we saw what her power was. I mean... super senses? Of all things? It was such a redundant ability with someone like Jayfeather there. I just loved his character's story arc so much. A cat is born blind, but ultimately learns to lean on his other senses effortlessly until he realizes that they are so strong that they can sense the world of StarClan/the afterlife/what-have-you. Bringing in this new character with so much potential for a new power only to make her... just.... a "better" version of Jayfeather was disappointing.
Yet again, I'm just going to point out that I liked reading from all of the characters. And since I know everyone is going to say it: Hollyleaf being obsessed with the Warrior Code was annoying, and it's part of what I was talking about Hollyleaf's character arc changing in the later books. I feel like a lot of that was the Erins kind of struggling to figure out what to do with her. :/ If there had been a clearer plan on their part from the beginning, Power of Three and Omen of the Stars could've been really fantastic.
Erin said that she spent a lot of time trying to think of a power, but then it clicked that hollyleaf wouldn’t have a power. I actually really like the fact that she didn’t
This was awesome and actually got me thinking: what is wrong with Hollyleaf not having a power in the first place? You mentioned she was a natural, proactive leader of the three - well why couldn't that have been her destiny? Isn't the ability to harness and guide powerful cats like Lionblaze and Jayfeather a "power" in its own right? And her adherence to the warrior code is a strong virtue. I make fun of it here and there, but her incredible sense of principle is really a power in its own right and definitely feels more natural than Dovewing's ability. Great video, really got me thinking! I think I might do my own video on this topic now ^_^
That's what I thought her power was from the beginning! It seemed really obvious to me, but I guess I was totally wrong. ^_^' And do it! There's so much to talk about with the Power of Three, in general. It's such a different series and has so much build up for not much payoff, but that's what makes it really interesting too. Dovewing's ability literally made me roll my eyes when I found out what it was, especially since I thought Hollyleaf had a pretty good power already. The fact that none of the three's powers come into play for the final battle battle in OotS was also such a letdown. It makes you wonder why them having powers was so important to begin with.
LZRD WZRD I also agreed with your statement. Power doesn’t need to be starclan magic or dark forest fighting moves. But being more of a leader, guide and taking action when troubles starts. When I heard that Dovewing and Ivypool found out the dark forest plan. They should just told Firestar or Bramblestar right then and their and the power of three true mission should have been redeeming the dark forest cats in my opinion. Just what TennelleFlowers said Hollyleaf got shit done and would have done the same thing in “omen of the stars”😞
I thought her power was that she wasn't a medicine cat and could see spirits ( fallen leaves ), I just thought the hunters just dicided not to add that in. Also I subscribed to yo lizard wizard.
Well, there are 3 POSSIBLE POWERS FOR HOLLYLEAF: 1. PROTECTING THE WARRIOR CODE (as said MANY TIMES) 2. BEING A NATURAL LEADER OF THE THREE (AS SAID IN THE VIDEO) and 3 (FACT TIME) BEING ABLE TO SEE CATS FROM LONGER AGO THAN STARCLAN IN REALITY (aka. Fallen Leaves) The other cats like Jayfeather can only see them in dreams. Hollyleaf can see them in reality and when they are more ancient than StarClan. (SORRY FOR REPEATING YOUR COMMENT Silvermoon 248 I posted the comment before I read yours) I AM SORRY FOR BEING ANNOYING.
What I wish would have happened is that she was *origionally* part of the three and had a power, but, because of her actions, Star Clan stripped her of her powers.
she never had powers. The Erins apparently couldnt think of a power for her so just kicked her out and brought dovewing in. I hate that idea so much cause it just sounds like an act of lazyness, after hollyleaf 'died' the brothers seemed more apart in tne 4th series, when she left it kind of crumbled down
+Queen Scribble I know she didn't have powers. I think it would have interesting arch if she had a power and lost it. I mean I can think of multiple powers that could fit her.
+ImagineHodgepodge sorry if I sounded rude before, but yeah I agree with you! it shouldnt have been that hard to give her a power, I feel like the erins tried so hard to make the audience hate her that the only way they could get rid of her was to kill her, idk it just seems that way in my opinion.
Honestly if she lived through Omen of the Stars and she was given a bit of time to earn the Clans trust she could probably be the next deputy under Bramblestar once Squirrelflight went to the elders den or just died.
I have long thought that Hollyleaf not being a villain was the biggest waste of a character I used to like, she has the drive and intense ideology to be a GREAT villain! I would have loved her to be the redemption of Ivypool who learns from Holly's mistakes and KICKS THE OVERUSED PROPHECY ARC IN THE BUTT but... Alas I will have to settle my beef with prophecy's in MAP form... This was a great video Simmy! I'd love to collab with you on one of these sometime! I have a lot of angry opinions about Warrior Cats
I don't understand why everyone hates Hollyleaf, I know that she can be sometimes annoying with how much she sticks to the warrior code, but I love her SO MUCH!
Hollyleaf was annoying to me cuz she just reminded me of those stick to the rules type of people. I mean even jay and lion went no we can't tell her anything. You know how she is about the code. Like I really think she would let her clan died instead of letting lion get the catnip. Cuz stealing was against the code. Lion wasn't bland. He struggled with his power. Holly was too obsessed with power and wanted to become important.
Avery & Uno she wanted to be important. like when she became a medicine cat. she didn't do it cuz she want to help others. her first thought was how important medicine cats was to the clan and how all that knowledge would made her important. she thought about how that knowledge would make her powerful.
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO DOESNT HATE HOLLYLEAF BECAUSE SHE KILLED ASHFUR! THANK YOU TENNELFLOWERS! Ive always been confused as to why people hate Hollyleaf. Yes, she killed Ashfur, but Lionblaze, Bramblestar, Heck even little Mr perfect, Firestar killed cats! Lionblaze killed multiple! NOBODY HATES HIM! Hollyleaf kills ONE cat half of the warriors fandom hates her! I could complain on and on but ill save you your time! Thank you for not hating Hollyleaf!😂😊🙏
Storm The Wolf I Agree... I mean like if all the overrated charicters kill cats (no offense to firestar lovers) and Ashfur is evil why can't Hollyleaf kill him and not be hated by half of the people who read these books :/
Hollyleaf's power: Being a good character Ivypool' power: being useful and the ability to risk her life for the sake of her clan Dovewing's power: Rainbow eyes and everything-handed-to-her-even-though-she-is-useless Also, I really don't like how everyone treats Dovewing like a special snowflake, as a result, she's pretty useless
dovewing reminds me of a kid who is born into a rich family and basically lives off all of their wealth and does nothing until their wealth is threatened
I don't like Dovewing but I don't hate her either. She can be mildly annoying at times but at the same time the Erins' just didn't know what to do with her so she didn't get the option to contriubte anything.
Dovewing is alright but she needs to shut up about moving houses and relationships (Yeah I heard that Dovewing May be a kittypet) and she really just can’t get a boyfriend! Just settle with NOT Tigerheart/star!
Actually, the Omen of the Stars was really boring. Nothing happened. Like, literally. oKAY WE'RE GOING BACK UP THE MOUNTAIN happened okAY DOVEWING IS CONFUSED WITH HER ROMANTIC INTERESTS happened. oKAY LOTS OF CATS ARE BEING FOOLED INTO TRAINING FROM TIGGERSTAR happened. Sisterly bond? happened. ...Rejected sister?
Loved this video! Hollyleaf was a great character, but in my opinion she also came off as a bit annoying. She did seem like a natural leader as you put it, but she was also /so/ obsessed with the warrior code and it came off as irritating that she couldn't look past it as many of the previous main characters did to do what was right. I did like her character though, Hollyleaf was much different than any other characters that were introduced. As for Lionblaze, I never saw him as a 'bland' character. Hollypaw was the one trying to figure out her power, Jaypaw was the one who was fine with it and, in my opinion, enjoyed his abilities to spy in other cat's minds, and to me it seemed that Lionpaw was the one struggling to control his powers. As much as he enjoyed being able to beat cats, it was also obvious that he was scared of his powers- Sol even points this out in one scene. This was different, as Jaypaw never seemed daunted by his powers and Hollypaw was too focused on figuring out her power to really be nervous about it. In Eclipse Lionpaw goes into a fit of rage, fighting cats in his way, and nearly killing Crowfeather. Back then he seemed almost like a ball of fire, and only when he was older was he then able to control his 'blaze'. I always thought of Lionblaze as the protective and eager one out of his littermates as an apprentice, and as a warrior and once he learned to control his abilities, he turned into more of a level-headed cat. But that's just my opinion. Also, Squirrelflight is an AMAZING deputy. She makes sure Bramblestar doesn't overwork himself, and she doesn't back down when she has an opinion to express. I was actually surprised in Bramblestar's Storm how good of a deputy she was. Again, awesome video!
Toxaotic acutally, it made it more interesting. Mostly because no there cat except for Hollyleaf who finds the Warrior Code so important. Most cats just throw it aside, even Firestar. Hollyleaf really holds it close.
Tundra Ponies That's true, and I do like her character for that, it's good to have someone who actually respects and listens to the code. I'm just saying she came off as a bit irritating as many protagonists we've read about didn't follow the code at some points to do what was right, but Hollyleaf never would do that. Her brothers would constantly have to explain their plans in a way that fit the warrior code to get her to join in. Again that doesn't make her a bad character, but after becoming so used to characters bending the rules it was a tad annoying ^^
the code thing she had bothered me because she decided that if she was born against the code she is going to throw her whole life away because of something she couldnt control
Hollyleaf is one of my most favorite characters ever (as evident by my pen name) but due to the seeming obscurity of the warriors fandom in my life (most of the people I interact with are weebs as am I so we don't really talk about literature all that much) I never really get the chance to properly either gush about or analyze her character. Not many of the fellow warriors fans that I've interacted with have been all that fond of Hollyleaf, and I never really understood why they would. I could see why they wouldn't really care all that much for her character(as she gets overshadowed by her siblings in the later arcs), but I didn't see how people could detest her. This video made me so happy because it not only started out with stating that Hollyleaf is awesome, but it brought up some very interesting points about her character that I'd never really thought about before. Hearing from someone else about the potential parallels for Hollyleaf and Ivypool was definitely refreshing and exciting to think about. My sister's favorite character is Ivypool so I'll have to bring this up next time I talk with her and I'm sure I can get some good conversation out of it. Anyway, I'll stop gushing about this video, it's wonderful and I love it (and all of your videos).
Okay, I know I am like a few years late but THANK YOU!! I Always loved Hollyleaf and never understood the hate she received. She was such a interesting and great character and she is my all time favourite. I was so sad when she died. And honestly, listening to you listing up all These great opportunities that were not used, just makes me sad again. I believed she would become leader, because she just seemed to fit into this role. I loved reading About her and it was her dead, that made me take a break from Warriors for a very Long time, because I was devestated. Thank you for talking about her like that. It Kind of inspired and sadenned me at the same time.
*breath*. why did Hollyleaf die for the last time again? I mean...think guys. It was so great to have her back and see her being a boss in the last book and stuff. But are you kidding me? She died saving Ivypool? From Hawkfrost? and then Brambleclaw(star) kills Hawkfrost? Ok so no Hollyleaf should have lived, become Bramblestar's deputy, and then Hollystar. Buuut no. She dies from HAWKFROST. Hawkfrost and Hollyleaf had no relationship with eachother that I can think of. Its just random. And just not needed at all. and then Brambleclaw kills Hawkfrost? Ivypool should be the one to kill Hawkfrost, Brambleclaw had his moment. And Mousefur died. Who ever heard of a freaking elder joining Starclan in a battle? BUT there are two good things that come out of that. Hollyleaf gets to be with Fallen Leaves, its canon now guys. and Mousefur with Longtail, though that is not canon. pffft. That book sucked. Feel free to correct me on anything, but I *think* I got it. Also for the Harry Potter fans doesnt Hollyleaf remind you of Hermione? :o
To me, I feel Hollyleaf's obsession with following the code and being so invested in being a Medicine Cat first, makes me feel she could've been a great villain. Not the boring, "Oh I want power for power's sake," Like Tigerstar or Brokenstar (boring), but because Hollyleaf really believes the code is keeping the Clans safe and not following it could bring ruin. The fact her very birth goes against the code, could drive her to 'make up' for it by enforcing the code even more harshly. Perhaps become a StarClan zealot and climb up the ranks through hard work and loyalty, becoming Hollystar and using that newfound control to severely punish any code-breakers. To her she'd be keeping ThunderClan strong and safe and faithful to their ancestors as they've been 'led astray' with cats like Leafpool and Ashfur, so I would've loved a villainous she-cat who thought she was doing right but just going to extremes. Acting as judge, jury, and executioner. Either she'd be brought down or learn better, but I just like how warped her mind could be, thinking following the code = morality. Oh well. Guess that's what fanfiction is for.
I hated when Brambleclaw stayed deputy instead of Greystripe. Yea, he betrayed Thunderclan multiple times but that just improves his character sooo much when he longs to be in Thunderclan again and leaves Riverclan. It shows how loyal he actually is. He deserved that deputy role. And seriously, why the heck did Bramblestar pick Squirrelflight as deputy?!?! There are better cats out there.
Personally as a Bramblestar fan, I believe he deserved it. By the time Graystripe had returned in The Sight, Bramblestar was more familiar with the Clan, and everyone in it, as well as their own territory. While this wasn't as true in Outcast, when Bramblestar returned to being deputy, I think your reason for hating him as a character is wrong. Graystripe had no such questions of loyalty to his Clan except for one book after his return from RiverClan, which even then he kind of did deserve it due to deserting his Clan for his kits, while Bramblestar was the son of Tigerstar, even looking exactly like him, and had his loyalty questioned throughout his entire life, over time earning the loyalty of the Clan as he proved his own loyalty.
Laney Hendricks Graystripe only got to be deputy because Whitestorm asked him to. He didn't earn it. He became disloyal the moment he met Silverstream.
Graystripe got to be deputy because him and Firestar are literally best friends, and Graystripe has gone through a lot. Tot just because Whitestorm said he should be. It is an extremely similar reason why Bramblestar chose Squirrelflight. Although I don't really like ol' Squirrelly, she was chosen for being Bramblestar's mate and going through stuff.
Does anyone besides me think Squirrelflight is the best deputy the clan could possibly have right now? She's in her prime, she uses tactical thinking in tough situations and if Bramblestar does anything remotely stupid, she'd verbally claw his ears off.
I loved The Power of Three. It was such a great arc! It doesn't win up to The Prophecies Begin though. I totally agree with you that Hollyleaf. Got. Crap. Done! I'm just about to start on Omen of the Stars. I just have to order it off of Amazon. But I felt so happy in Sunrise when Hollyleaf got up on the Great Tree (Whatever it's called) and spoke the truth. Leafpool and Squirrelflight ARE cowards. Sorry to all the people that like them, but it's true! Leafpool couldn't say the truth to anyone just because she's afraid that she might get exiled. And Squirrelflight, oh Squirrelflight. She's a coward as well. She could of told Brambleclaw the truth when she told Ashfur in Long Shadows. See! Squirrelflight and Leafpool are cowards. Hollyleaf, my girl. She's a great character. She shows that she is stronger than others and keeps going no matter what. Jayfeather is another good character, but he doesn't have much to him. He's just a big ball of sass. And Lionblaze, I can sit here picking out all his flaws. He has no character. He's just a Dark forest apprentice (lol). No! No! And no! Dang Dovekit I swear. My jaw was dropped when Hollyleaf said this to Leafpool. "See those deathberries? Eat them. Or I'll make you."
At the publishing time they couldn't think of a power, and until they actually thought of another power, they shoved Hollyleaf aside and put Dovewing in her place.
Butterfly Rose Hm, that doesn't seem fitting for her though. Dovewing's hearing matches her personality perfectly. Hollyleaf's power should be related to her thinking. She's always been the "little thinker", knowing what's right and what's wrong. Dovewing's hearing ability wouldn't fit her.
I think Hollyleaf should've had the power of seeing the future, possibly, or maybe have the power of being able to manipulate people (good for her possibly villain arc-- a good person turn rogue with their power).
i'm so glad this isn't anything negative abt hollyleaf!!! she's honestly my favorite character of all time, and funnily enough the first time i ever saw/heard anything about warrior cats was when i watched a pmv actually about hollyleaf. so i guess that speaks for itself!! but i have my own rewrite/au where holly does harness a power, and she's able to foresee certain events but only in mere glimpses. she can also sense whether someone is lying or being truthful. i'm thinking about making her also have some kind of external/internal auto-healing powers because jayfeather has like... so many powers throughout the arcs it seems (walking in dreams, sensing others thoughts/feelings, gOING BACK IN TIME WHAT-- i know that was the stick probably but STILL) and later on hollyshade (thats her name in my rewrite) becomes deputy and then leader!! i do think the way she obsessed over the code earlier on in the po3 arc was annoying, but i can understand it. as someone who was kind of raised in that same way but with a different concept, i can get behind feeling like if you don't live up to believing or following something 100% that you've done something bad. i don't remember much of po3 but i really wish she could've been able to move past that and realize that it's okay for the code to be excused sometimes if it means doing the right thing! ok well. now i'm rambling shsdfkfh but yeah i rlly liked this video and i Loveeee hollyleaf!!! best girl
Hollyleaf was my favorite between the power of three main characters, leaving Jayfeather in second place. I was so sad when she died, She could have made her live longer! :(
Sensational Sorreltail well, it is boring since the plots have been used before Bramble trained with tigerstar Leafpool (and like every cat ever) had a forbidden relationship And then jayfeather has powers and the parent reveal
I looove this. Hollyleaf is such a relatable character and I wish they hadn't chosen to write her off the story. I wish that they had chosen to keep her in the books, and made her more important. Hollyleaf is very dynamic and I will always wish that she didn't meet the fate she did.
And I feel like she filled the void between the brothers. She was a strong moral compass, she had drive and ambition, and would've made a wonderful deputy or leader. She is badass and great. Ashfur sucked butt. Sad day when one of my favs die :(
i really love how you painted hollyleaf in a good light, and i basically agreed with everything you said and it was quite refreshing! it would be amazing if she had turned out to be leader, because she honestly DESERVED it. she was the powerhouse for the original three, like you said. i hope you eventually do a video on all of the plot holes and confusing sh*t in "a vision of shadows", because lets be real... the whole needlepaw and alderpaw situation is INSANE and everything is really strange. keep up the good work, hun!!
personally I think if they had taken the "do nothing" trail she would have made an awesome HollyStar! I really think that I can see a HollyStar more sense than SquirrelStar. If you think about it BrambleStar and his deputy HollyStar would have made a lot more than BrambleStar and his deputy SquirrelFlight. I'm not saying I whish they hadn`t had hollyLeaf try to leave and end up stuck in the tunnels cause honestly I loved fallenleaves and if I hadn`t already known that he was a dead cat as a reader I would have been rooting for the Fallen-Holly ship ( tho I kinda still am because the whole halfmoon and Jayfeather ship is a thing so why not Fallen-Holly) but if she had come back and not died in the fight I think Squirrelflight stepping down at some turn (maybe wanting to have the true kit expireance or something ) would have been a great thing for the clan and would help develop IveyPool even more as hollleaf is such a roll model to her.
Tbh wouldnt it make more sense if hollyleaf and lionblaze switched places? Like say lionblaze was the one without powers and hollyleaf has tennelle flowers given power because I like it, since lionblaze has a bit more to be mad about *he was ashfur's apprentice and it would make sense if he killed him since well... ashfur wasnt the BEST mentor*
It also baffles me how the Erins couldn’t think of a power for Hollyleaf. They did just fine finding a power for Dovewing, so what’s the deal with no power for Hollyleaf? She was also way more productive. I also think that Hollyleaf did have a power, even if the Erins weren't consciously aware of it: her morality was her power. While it might not have been anything particularly special, it was something that there clearly wasn't a lot of, and thus made it a "superpower."
I completly understand what your talking about Lionblaze he's just kinda ... there Edit: Also now that you talk about I could see Hollyleaf still being the leader of the group but not really being _Part_ of the group like how Firestar did at the end of Omen of The Stars (Which was completly random and made no sense to me at all)
Hollyleaf has always been my favourite character, and I was so startled and baffled when I encountered the fandom years later and saw so much hate for her. 🥺 It's so nice to finally find someone who appreciates her just as much as I do.
"Just because Hollyleaf isn't special doesn't mean she needed to die." The same can be said for 75% of the characters mentioned in the "cast of characters" spiel at the beginning of each book. So why does Hollyleaf get special treatment?
can you rant why squirrelflight should have stayed a warrior and not been made a deputy lol. I mean i guess she's kind of a good deputy but still someone else would be better. bramble plays favorites lol
To be honest, Hollyleaf was my favorite of the three and even while I enjoyed Jayfeathers chapters so much, I really liked the POV of a warrior character whose only motivation isn't being a good warrior like Lionblaze. I really hoped for her to find a good place in the series and an interesting arc and while I enjoy Dovewing as part of the three, for me it would have been more enjoyable with Hollyleaf at her sibling's side.
Sweet Draw dude she meant that firestar is the first cat to be like that, also she said that cuz it wasnt like the bluestar generation was the first generation if warrior cats
I'm sorry, I hate Hollyleaf. She ruined the relationship between Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw and is really cowardly. "Oh poor me, my dad is part of WindClan and my mom is a medicine cat. I'm gonna tell the Clans and then die and complain to Fallen Leaves." I'm sorry, I hate her.
I'm personnaly satisfied of how Power of Three ended. Hollyleaf has, to me, a logical character arc, she already cared a lot about the warrior cat code after she messed up in Dark River by going to Riverclan territory -and breaking a rule-, and because of Heathertail and Lionblaze, a war almost started. She quite literally thought at the end of Dark River:"Nothing is more important than warrior code". And killing Ashfur was partly because she was afraid he would ruined her dream of being a leader, so this motivation still exist by the end of the arc, and Lionblaze also notice in Eclipse how she was constantly trying to be the leader of their trio. In Long shadow, she's again the one who push them into doing something about Sol.
OH GOD I HATE HOLLYLEAF. I can’t say I hated her from the very start, but I did dislike her from early on. And then this was amplified especially after she destroyed Leafpool, one of my personal favorites. I will have to admit that a strong point that I do rather agree with is that she did have potential that was never used, and maybe if this was tapped into I would have liked her more. Great video, yes-but I still really don’t like Hollyleaf.
my opinion is that brambleclaw should have never been made deputy because graystripe is still alive and leafpool knows it and brambleclaw meets with his father in the book u know how hard it was for him to deside to kill firestar or help him
I honestly fell in love with Hollyleaf's character in The Sight, i was so confused because i had heard so many negative comments about her. Also Bramblestar is so stupid for picking Squirrelflight for his deputy, but i reckon she'll get killed off before she becomes leader, she doesn't seem fit for the position.
i love your explanation and reasoning about her, i use to not like her, but your explanation inspired me to like her. She moved on, she is a inspirational character.
Cool video, BUT let me tell you why I dont like holly: 1. She was badly written in m opinion. The writers made tons of mistakes with her and it was annoying. 2. The fandom loved her, JUST because she killed herself in the end, which I think is not even quite true... but not because of her character. 3. Her death could have been an opportunity. But we got the mary sue Dovewing which is hard not to hate.
I haven't picked up one of the book in years, but I saw a drawing of Hollyleaf as "evil" and it sent me into a spiral of how much I HATED what the Erins did to her character, and how the fandom treated her. I had to come back here. Love what you said. I barley remember the books but I still know what I would change specifically about Hollyleaf's story
I was so upset that Hollyleaf died. She was my favorite and I really wish the Erins did something else with her character. I dont see her much as a villian since thw warrior code and loyalty matter to her that much. And I totally agree that Hollyleaf got shit done unlike Jayfeather and Lionblaze
I agree with everything you've said here about Hollyleaf. It's all so true. As early as The Sight, I thought she was going to become the next deputy, or even leader, of ThunderClan. I was shocked when the narrative tossed all that aside and had her killed off (twice) instead. You're also so right about Brambleclaw and his arc. It would have been fantastic if he found contentment in becoming a warrior, rather than remaining deputy. I feel like that would have been a great conclusion to The New Prophecy. It'd also send a message that I don't see warriors sending often enough, what with its obsession with ambition and chosen ones: that your accomplishments don't necessarily equal your worth. That you can live a happy and fulfilling life without rising to the top, or being a living legend. Maybe I'm just nitpicking, though.
I am not good with Analysis.. but could someone explain what was so bad about Leafpool and Squirrelflight? Of course, they broke the code and Leafpool had kits with a cat from another clan but, Graystripe did that, Bluestar did that, and I feel like those characters were forgiven, well.. Bluestar did loose so many things but Graystripe was forgiven. Leafpool did become meaner but I still loved her and Squirrelflight as apprentices and I still love them today. I'm currently on Fading Echos. Someone explain this!! ;o;
I fricken love JayFeather! His sarcasm is top notch and i love the fact he questions things and actually gets somewhere.hes the one who finds out things for them, hes so important and if he ever dies it would be a great loss. At least the Erins did amazing with his character
In my own opinion, I'm not a huge fan of Hollyleaf due to her actions that I usually find idiotic, but I really respect your opinion and the way you portray her is extremely unique, y'know! I found some spots that I never noticed at all.
Hollyleaf was my favorite character in the series and I'm glad to hear that you have respect for her character! :3 Also, I think Hollyleaf and Ivypool arc would be awesome! It would be cool to have Hollyleaf help Ivypool with her jealously but I was really liking the idea you came up with about the jealously getting the best of both cats and them silently undermining the clan (yeah, I know, it's weird, but I have a thing for "good" characters going "bad"). Hollyleaf would certainly have the brains to preform such a feat! I ultimately would probably want her to stay good, and I think what happened in the series was acceptable, but the scenario got me thinking! Thanks for the video! :D
So glad you did this! I always appreciated Hollyleaf and was upset that when she came back she just died again! And I was always mad when people hated on her! Thank you for this video!
OMG TennelleFlowers I came across your analysis videos some days ago and they are just AMAZING! I love how clearly you expose your opinions. Also, thank you THANK YOU for making me discover Twin Shadows! That's an amazing comic with such an interesting and funny story, Cushfuddeld is truly talented.
You MUST do more of these! I honestly love to hear other peoples thoughts on these types of things, and it makes me actually use my brain. I also like to listen to smart things :3
I absolutely love the idea of Hollyleaf being the ultimate villain and I was hoping I could make a comic out of the AU/idea! If you don't mind that is...
Hollyleaf did have a power, the power to move the series on!
xD
XD
or the power to come back to life
+darkriver warrior no, fallenleaves brought her back to life, she didnt even kno she died
Both Hollyleaf and Ivypool, later of course, are the cats I would have chosen for deputy.
I love Ivypool cause she ivycool
I love hollyleaf
My favourite warriors
1.ivypool
2.hollyleaf
3.hawkfrost
4.bluestar
5.stormfur
Hollyleaf or dovewing definitely. Love Ivypool too tho.
I absolutely love how you can see after omen of the stars ivypool matures and becomes so much smarter and reasonable. She has so many leadership qualities and as much as I love Hollyleaf she is dead so I really would love ivypool to be deputy and eventual leader.
"HollyLeaf is.... (Please say something positive about her.... *crosses fingers*) Awesome"
YES!
Crumbling Light Hollyleaf and Ivypool were my favorite two characters, The only death I cried on was Hollyleaf's
tigercloud128 I have never cried from a warrior death I just go into deep shock
Unless I hate the cat died
Polarcat the warrior Like Triggeredstar
tigercloud128 I cried for hollyleafs "death" and her real death
Still mad at you for killing Twitch ;-; ......... meanie
Woohoo we got to awsome people here! You guys rock!
Blixemi ikr, Hollyleaf is my Hollybae, good to see more people who like her :3
Ikr when i saw this title, i though tennelle was gonna hate on hollyleaf ( cough cough my bae cough cough ) but when she said she liked her, i was like FINALLY
TheGamingCabit that's actually true
@Spirit Echø huh?
Spirit Echø Neither did Bluestar, she came back to reality in the last few moments before her death.
Dovewing was such a huge disappointment for me once we saw what her power was. I mean... super senses? Of all things? It was such a redundant ability with someone like Jayfeather there. I just loved his character's story arc so much. A cat is born blind, but ultimately learns to lean on his other senses effortlessly until he realizes that they are so strong that they can sense the world of StarClan/the afterlife/what-have-you. Bringing in this new character with so much potential for a new power only to make her... just.... a "better" version of Jayfeather was disappointing.
Why is no one responding to this, no argument against it. That. Was. Beautiful.
I think Lionblaze is supposed to be bland because, well what chance all of them are special.
i love Hollyleaf
my fave cat is.. your gonna hate me ..squirrelflight..
this would be such a good ending! the ending the erins came up with was just horrible
+join the tiger Aj my fav cats are Ivypool and Squirrelflight(high five!!)
I don't see why the Erins couldn't have given Hollyleaf Dovewing's powers
It dosent fit her I think the power that fits her the most is turning into shadows when other anaimals attack her
Erin said that she spent a lot of time trying to think of a power, but then it clicked that hollyleaf wouldn’t have a power. I actually really like the fact that she didn’t
I don't really think Dovewing deserved a power. She made bad choices, and Hollyleaf was good and actually fun to read about in my opinon
Cuse she too good for powers
Oh god, get ready for the war in the replies
And do it!
Well, there are 3 POSSIBLE POWERS FOR HOLLYLEAF:
1. PROTECTING THE WARRIOR CODE (as said MANY TIMES)
2. BEING A NATURAL LEADER OF THE THREE (AS SAID IN THE VIDEO)
and 3 (FACT TIME) BEING ABLE TO SEE CATS FROM LONGER AGO THAN STARCLAN IN REALITY (aka. Fallen Leaves) The other cats like Jayfeather can only see them in dreams. Hollyleaf can see them in reality and when they are more ancient than StarClan. (SORRY FOR REPEATING YOUR COMMENT Silvermoon 248 I posted the comment before I read yours)
I AM SORRY FOR BEING ANNOYING.
100% agreed!!
+ImagineHodgepodge sorry if I sounded rude before, but yeah I agree with you!
it shouldnt have been that hard to give her a power,
I feel like the erins tried so hard to make the audience hate her that
the only way they could get rid of her was to kill her,
idk it just seems that way in my opinion.
Oh! Yeah.
Hanna Macic I think Holly deserves her own power. Dovewing's power fits her but not so much Hollyleaf.
Honestly if she lived through Omen of the Stars and she was given a bit of time to earn the Clans trust she could probably be the next deputy under Bramblestar once Squirrelflight went to the elders den or just died.
Well damn. This would have been a good idea, she probably would have been a great deputy/leader too (still don't like her though).
Lucas Hope Tigerheart is related to Dovewing... I think
Or Squirrelstar
I have long thought that Hollyleaf not being a villain was the biggest waste of a character I used to like, she has the drive and intense ideology to be a GREAT villain! I would have loved her to be the redemption of Ivypool who learns from Holly's mistakes and KICKS THE OVERUSED PROPHECY ARC IN THE BUTT but... Alas I will have to settle my beef with prophecy's in MAP form... This was a great video Simmy! I'd love to collab with you on one of these sometime! I have a lot of angry opinions about Warrior Cats
“HOLLYLEAF. GETS. SHIT. DONE.”
Me: *happy crying from outside of the screen*
Its so amazing to see this video! Your right, hollyleaf is amazing!
YESSSS HOLLYSTAR!!!!
…oh wait. they killed her again…
Holly was too obsessed with power and wanted to become important.
sandywolfr26 I could be wrong, but I don't think that Hollyleaf sought power.
Avery & Uno she wanted to be important. like when she became a medicine cat. she didn't do it cuz she want to help others. her first thought was how important medicine cats was to the clan and how all that knowledge would made her important. she thought about how that knowledge would make her powerful.
Melissa Shea She's just too distant.
SHE'S MY FAVORITE!!!!
OO YO thanks for featuring me :'o
So glad you don't mind! Finding pictures for these videos is hard! :'O
Did jay kill cats in his clan? Did lionblaze?
xZack Chan did I ever say jay killed anyone?
eeekkkk sorry Dawnpelt didn't see you there!
Classy Draws Hollyleaf intentionally killed Ashfur. She wasn't crazy, just scared.
Storm The Wolf I Agree... I mean like if all the overrated charicters kill cats (no offense to firestar lovers) and Ashfur is evil why can't Hollyleaf kill him and not be hated by half of the people who read these books :/
Hollyleaf's power: Being a good character
Ivypool' power: being useful and the ability to risk her life for the sake of her clan
Dovewing's power: Rainbow eyes and everything-handed-to-her-even-though-she-is-useless
Also, I really don't like how everyone treats Dovewing like a special snowflake, as a result, she's pretty useless
dovewing reminds me of a kid who is born into a rich family and basically lives off all of their wealth and does nothing until their wealth is threatened
But Dovewing is nice!
Dovewing: wines about pointless relationships
Hollyleaf: actually gets stuff done
I don't like Dovewing but I don't hate her either. She can be mildly annoying at times but at the same time the Erins' just didn't know what to do with her so she didn't get the option to contriubte anything.
Dovewing is alright but she needs to shut up about moving houses and relationships (Yeah I heard that Dovewing May be a kittypet) and she really just can’t get a boyfriend! Just settle with NOT Tigerheart/star!
Actually, the Omen of the Stars was really boring. Nothing happened. Like, literally.
oKAY WE'RE GOING BACK UP THE MOUNTAIN
happened
okAY DOVEWING IS CONFUSED WITH HER ROMANTIC INTERESTS
happened.
oKAY LOTS OF CATS ARE BEING FOOLED INTO TRAINING FROM TIGGERSTAR
happened.
Sisterly bond?
happened.
...Rejected sister?
so true. its basically just an arc about dovewing doing stuff. Omen of the Stars really should've just been called "Dovewing tries vlogging"
@@yami--yugi In fact, Omen of the Star was initially called "The Fourth Apprentice" xD
I would actually argue that power of three was just as dull but I digress
Same here. Hollyleaf did always annoy me but she's a good character
Jesus you wrote a lot... Thats my essay!
SHES MEH FAV TOO
This is why fanfiction was created.
Hollyleaf had the power of getting crap done.
I love reading the comments on these kinds of videos there so long and filled with knowledge
Agreed. ^_^
I also feel like Brakenfur would of been a good deputy.
The Fox Sempi Me too ^u^
I know. he was such a loyal cat
Y E S
The goodest boy
same
*breath*. why did Hollyleaf die for the last time again?
Leopard Dragon no hollyleaf doesn'tremind me of Hermione because Hermione was a good character
Rosetail died defending the nursery in a battle against... I think it was ShadowClan?.. as an elder.
"For the ultimate sacrifice"
- Erin hunters.
+Hanna Macic Wat XD
Jbug20076 I just started it today lol
Kahlia Palmer Oh I'm sorry! I'm on the fourth apprentice. But probably most of the comments and this video is gonna have spoilers.
I love Leafpool and Squirrelflight, but really thinking about it, they are cowards in power of three!
@@jaidenxnn AHHHHHH FINALLY. SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T THINK LEAFPOOL AND SQUIRRELFLIGHT DON’T HAVE DIRT ON THEM. YESS EXACTLY
i haven't read the warrior books since the 8th grade ish (so about 5 years ago), and your videos are making me want to read them again so badly
They could have given Hollyleaf Dovewings power and made Dovewing not have a power also
At the publishing time they couldn't think of a power, and until they actually thought of another power, they shoved Hollyleaf aside and put Dovewing in her place.
***** yeah, ur right
Pichu RED // Seraphina basically what I thought while reading the series
Butterfly Rose Hm, that doesn't seem fitting for her though. Dovewing's hearing matches her personality perfectly. Hollyleaf's power should be related to her thinking. She's always been the "little thinker", knowing what's right and what's wrong. Dovewing's hearing ability wouldn't fit her.
I think Hollyleaf should've had the power of seeing the future, possibly, or maybe have the power of being able to manipulate people (good for her possibly villain arc-- a good person turn rogue with their power).
Lionblaze would work as well as a background character as a main character.
Change my mind.
Also,
Hollystar
Squirrellstar
Ivystar
i'm so glad this isn't anything negative abt hollyleaf!!!
she's honestly my favorite character of all time, and funnily enough the first time i ever saw/heard anything about warrior cats was when i watched a pmv actually about hollyleaf. so i guess that speaks for itself!!
but i have my own rewrite/au where holly does harness a power, and she's able to foresee certain events but only in mere glimpses. she can also sense whether someone is lying or being truthful. i'm thinking about making her also have some kind of external/internal auto-healing powers because jayfeather has like... so many powers throughout the arcs it seems (walking in dreams, sensing others thoughts/feelings, gOING BACK IN TIME WHAT-- i know that was the stick probably but STILL)
and later on hollyshade (thats her name in my rewrite) becomes deputy and then leader!!
i do think the way she obsessed over the code earlier on in the po3 arc was annoying, but i can understand it. as someone who was kind of raised in that same way but with a different concept, i can get behind feeling like if you don't live up to believing or following something 100% that you've done something bad. i don't remember much of po3 but i really wish she could've been able to move past that and realize that it's okay for the code to be excused sometimes if it means doing the right thing!
ok well. now i'm rambling shsdfkfh but yeah i rlly liked this video and i Loveeee hollyleaf!!! best girl
I agree! Hollyleaf was amazing! That's why she's my favorite character!
I also agree with you about Lionblaze, he's kinda boring.
Hollyleaf was my favorite between the power of three main characters, leaving Jayfeather in second place. I was so sad when she died, She could have made her live longer! :(
Jayfeather is the best and my favorite cat
"-And good for her because Ashfur is such a piece of-"
-Ad plays-
If Hollyleaf had a power, Omen of the Stars wouldn't need to exist and Power of Three probably would've been over in 3 books.
Lol! Agreed. She always acted on things; she would have wrapped that whole problem up in a day. XD
haha, damn straight!
WHP FREAKIN CARES HOLLY LEAF IS GREAT 😢😢😢😢😢
I liked LionPaw's chapters in the sight. When reading JayPaw's many chapters I was like "ugh when's the next LionPaw chapter"
samee, it’s a shame he slowly became less interesting, he could’ve been so much better
no offense to people who like lionblaze but I agree his stories are super boring
Rachel Souza then your stupid if you think his stories are boring!
Sensational Sorreltail well, it is boring since the plots have been used before
Bramble trained with tigerstar
Leafpool (and like every cat ever) had a forbidden relationship
And then jayfeather has powers and the parent reveal
I looove this. Hollyleaf is such a relatable character and I wish they hadn't chosen to write her off the story. I wish that they had chosen to keep her in the books, and made her more important. Hollyleaf is very dynamic and I will always wish that she didn't meet the fate she did.
And I feel like she filled the void between the brothers. She was a strong moral compass, she had drive and ambition, and would've made a wonderful deputy or leader. She is badass and great. Ashfur sucked butt. Sad day when one of my favs die :(
Some people hate holly leaf bc she is obsessed with the warrior code when she is literally the only one thinking about it ;-;.
i really love how you painted hollyleaf in a good light, and i basically agreed with everything you said and it was quite refreshing! it would be amazing if she had turned out to be leader, because she honestly DESERVED it. she was the powerhouse for the original three, like you said.
i hope you eventually do a video on all of the plot holes and confusing sh*t in "a vision of shadows", because lets be real... the whole needlepaw and alderpaw situation is INSANE and everything is really strange.
keep up the good work, hun!!
personally I think if they had taken the "do nothing" trail she would have made an awesome HollyStar!
“And good for her too! Because Ashfur is SUCH A PEICE OF-“
*add*
Ok um can I just say that I vigorously agree with every single word in this video
Tbh wouldnt it make more sense if hollyleaf and lionblaze switched places?
Like say lionblaze was the one without powers and hollyleaf has tennelle flowers given power because I like it, since lionblaze has a bit more to be mad about
*he was ashfur's apprentice and it would make sense if he killed him since well... ashfur wasnt the BEST mentor*
you should do more simmy speaks! ur really gud at it!
I agree
It also baffles me how the Erins couldn’t think of a power for Hollyleaf. They did just fine finding a power for Dovewing, so what’s the deal with no power for Hollyleaf? She was also way more productive.
I also think that Hollyleaf did have a power, even if the Erins weren't consciously aware of it: her morality was her power. While it might not have been anything particularly special, it was something that there clearly wasn't a lot of, and thus made it a "superpower."
3:50 that's Nightpelt/star from ShadowClan.
* i was thinking the same thing lolz
I completly understand what your talking about Lionblaze he's just kinda ... there
Edit: Also now that you talk about I could see Hollyleaf still being the leader of the group but not really being _Part_ of the group like how Firestar did at the end of Omen of The Stars (Which was completly random and made no sense to me at all)
I agree with EVERYHTING you said in this video, and...
Who agrees Lionblaze would make a better Deputy than Squirrelflight? :3
Hollyleaf of ThunderClan I DO!
Hollyleaf has always been my favourite character, and I was so startled and baffled when I encountered the fandom years later and saw so much hate for her. 🥺 It's so nice to finally find someone who appreciates her just as much as I do.
What's a random cat you guys think should be leader? For some reason I want Birchfall to be leader. #Birchstar
I think Hollyleaf should have become leader with ivypool as her deputy. A badass duo
Nobody EVER talks about New Prophecy! :'(
"Just because Hollyleaf isn't special doesn't mean she needed to die."
The same can be said for 75% of the characters mentioned in the "cast of characters" spiel at the beginning of each book. So why does Hollyleaf get special treatment?
IM TRYING TO GET MY BABY COUSIN NAMED HOLLY, EVERYONE THINKS ITS BECAUSE SHE'LL BE BORN IN DECEMBER, BUT ITS NOOOOOOTTT
I regret everything this child is 4 now and named after a dead fictional cat learn from my mistakes
I regret everything this child is 4 now and named after a dead fictional cat learn from my mistakes
I LOVE HOLLYLEAF THANK YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR HER!!!❤😺
can you rant why squirrelflight should have stayed a warrior and not been made a deputy lol.
"...Firestar was the first main character like this..."
Me: HE WAS THE FIRST MAIN CHARECTER!!!!! (No hate ment"
Sweet Draw dude she meant that firestar is the first cat to be like that, also she said that cuz it wasnt like the bluestar generation was the first generation if warrior cats
I love Hollyleaf, I even messaged the Erin's to make a novella called Hollyleaf's Shadow.
Hollyleaf is Hermione Granger confirmed XD
FINALLY!!! Someone who loves HollyLeaf! I love her sooo much!
3:46 Random Nightstar pic X3
XD
Hollyleaf is a great cat. I totally agree with this. I must say though Jayfeather is also my favorite.
I love Hollyleaf! She was one of my favorites! I'm still MAD at the Erins, but I do love their books
my opinion is that brambleclaw should have never been made deputy because graystripe is still alive and leafpool knows it and brambleclaw meets with his father in the book u know how hard it was for him to deside to kill firestar or help him
I honestly fell in love with Hollyleaf's character in The Sight, i was so confused because i had heard so many negative comments about her.
Also Bramblestar is so stupid for picking Squirrelflight for his deputy, but i reckon she'll get killed off before she becomes leader, she doesn't seem fit for the position.
I hate hollyleaf
THATS IT!!!!!!! *shoots*
Lara mcevoy: *dead*
I love Hollyleaf so much and I kinda believe she has the power of courage
tbh I hate hollyleaf
Danbayo ;3 ME TO!
i love your explanation and reasoning about her, i use to not like her, but your explanation inspired me to like her. She moved on, she is a inspirational character.
Cool video, BUT let me tell you why I dont like holly:
Hollyleaf has always been one of my favorite characters from the books
im glad someone has finally defined her properly
I was so upset that Hollyleaf died. She was my favorite and I really wish the Erins did something else with her character. I dont see her much as a villian since thw warrior code and loyalty matter to her that much. And I totally agree that Hollyleaf got shit done unlike Jayfeather and Lionblaze
I don't know which one is the best.
"Spiteful Jayfeather"
"OP Lionblaze"
"Get shit done Hollyleaf" XD
Please make more of these I LOVE THEM
HOLLYLEAF IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE A VILLAIN. But at least she’d be my favorite villain.
I am not good with Analysis.. but could someone explain what was so bad about Leafpool and Squirrelflight? Of course, they broke the code and Leafpool had kits with a cat from another clan but, Graystripe did that, Bluestar did that, and I feel like those characters were forgiven, well.. Bluestar did loose so many things but Graystripe was forgiven. Leafpool did become meaner but I still loved her and Squirrelflight as apprentices and I still love them today. I'm currently on Fading Echos. Someone explain this!! ;o;
I get ridiculously happy when someone feature's a friend's art aaah it's really cool to see you talking about Twin Shadows?
OMG TennelleFlowers I came across your analysis videos some days ago and they are just AMAZING! I love how clearly you expose your opinions. Also, thank you THANK YOU for making me discover Twin Shadows! That's an amazing comic with such an interesting and funny story, Cushfuddeld is truly talented.
omg finally someone who agrees with, i love Hollyleaf sooo much, and does NOT deserve so much hate, she's actually a really great character!
Experiencing interruptions? Find out why
Simmy Speaks - Hollyleaf and the Power of
You are literally the first person that agrees with me about Hollyleaf. Shes AWESOME :D
SHES MEH FREAKIN FAV
“Hollyleaf...is....AWESOME!”
Me: I’m listening....
I love these! You got me to reread the entire series! Please keep making them.
