Kate has also said that is her head she sees Tallstar and Jake as mates. However, in the publisher's head, they are "Good Friends". Vicky has also said that as far as she's concerned, Jake and Tallstar were in love._ So that's two Erins confirming it (which may have been all the Erins there were at that point), and one publisher afraid of angering homophobes. Also, am I the only one who got a real Princess Bride vibe from the second half of the book? "MY NAME IS TALLTAIL. YOU KILLED MY FATHER. PREPARE TO DIE."
There's also no confirmation that Jake's owner didn't breed him intentionally. People do that, ya know, and as far as the cats' would be concerned, they probably would not have seen it from that perspective. Especially considering Jake grew up in an area that habitually fixed their cats, he was probably left intact for a reason. Not to mention that it's only confirmed that they're in love, and that Tallstar probably still visits Jake's spirit, wherever it resides. TheDemonFerret Thanks you! Cats don’t even know what gay mean! Humans made up that word anyways, cats relationships are not the same as humans, why do people get hyped over “gay cats” ain’t special.
I think it's sad at the fact that in into the wild (or it could have been Fire and Ice) where Tallstar sees Fireheart and it seems like he recognises Jake
Red Diamond Shoot, Firestar's got two gay dads now. (This is a joke because people ship Tallstar and Jake. I can't blame others for liking the pair though~)
When you realize that Lionblaze and thus, his kits, are related to Tallstar. Palebird had Tallstar and Wrenfeather Wrenfeather had Ashfoot Ashfoot had Crowfeather Crowfeather had Lionblaze
I didn't mind Palebird, until Talltail/star left and when he returned. She sent him away right before he left because he was 'being disruptive', when he'd only popped in to check up on them, which no mother should do, even though it happens. And when he came back, she hadn't even seemed to noticed he'd left whatsoever, but it'd been around a moon since he'd left, she said nothing and did nothing, she didn't notice him, and had to have her attention grabbed by another cat while her son was talking to even be informed he was leaving at all. I get the depression part, but at that point, it's neglect and I can see why Tallstar believed she'd be happier with Finchkit than him, his mother basically ignored him the second he said he didn't want to be a tunneler, and at that point, any child would see nothing but regret or disappointment in their parent. She wasn't such a bad mom, until she literally stopped noticing him completely, to the point you wouldn't think they were related at all and he was just another cat in the clan to her.
I (sort of) agree with you. Palebird was treating him kind of neutrally, like any other cat. She had lost her connection to him. But that doesn’t mean she’s a bad mother. She focused on her new kits and new mate, but also at least acknowledged Talltail. She wasn’t a good mother, but she wasn’t a bad one either, and should NOT be compared to Rainflower.
@@wesli2510 I agree that she shouldn’t be compared to Rainflower, who was actively abusive and cruel, but Palebird was very neglectful and that is a form of abuse. Even was Tallkit was young, she was very disinterested in him, and while I understand that she was depressed, her actions still ended up damaging her child. It’s not her fault she was mentally ill, but she has to at least take accountability for her actions. She never even apologized to him, and still didn’t care about him much when she had gotten out of her depressed state.
@@forestlite_ Except that even though their ways are considered abuse, her level isn't comparable to Rainflower's. It's odd to compare neglect and disinterest to actively and intentionally isolating your child and putting them down to make their sibling look better just because the child has a disability.
@@mysryuza true, its neglect vs. ableism in simplified terms, theyre both bad however Rainflower is just horrible, Palebird is more rlly bad, they shouldnt be comared definitely
I see a lot of people who haven't read Tallstar's Revenge, and instead read Bluestar's Prophecy. Most people hate Hawkheart, and they feel influenced to hate him through Bluestar's Prophecy, but ion Tallstar's Revenge, Hawkheart is actually a nice cat. Just shows how two books can change a character!
Chloe Hawkheart did it for a cause. He saw Moonflower attempting to destroy the herbs and viewed the destruction of the innocent elders, queens and kits. So he did his natural instinct, seeing as he use to be a warrior, Hawkheart probably forgot the capability of his attacks and in the process, accidentally did too much damage to Moonflower, then tried to act as if he knew he was going to. Or he just went into a rage mode and killed her. Either way, Hawkhearts' a really nice cat >.< (P.S: People judge him by reading BlueStars' prophecy.)
I feel like Jake and Talltail sort of Parallels Barely and Ravenpaw. Talltail is insecure, much like Ravenpaw, and they were both bullied. If Ravenpaw had returned to thunderclan, I feel like he would become a very valuable warrior. Now Barley and Jake are both not clan cats, but seem to be fine with adventure. Barely left an impression on Ravenpaw that life was not as scary as he thought, and Jake left an impression on Talltail that life was much greater than he thought.
Man, that part where you were reading about where Talltail and Jake come back into the clan's territory literally gave me chills. That scene is... ahh!! heartbreakinnnnng!! Amazing job on the review! I've always been rather poopoo on Windclan but after watching this I'm definitely more interested in them! (yoU'RE CONVERTING ME. but tbh riverclanisstillbestclan) Great job on this, dude!! You can tell tons of love and heart was poured into this!
Jake: This is your home. This is where you belong. Listen to your heart. Me: LISTEN TO YOUR HEAAAART WHEN THE GAY'S CALLING FOR YOU LISTEN TO YOUR HEAAAART THERES NOTHING ELSE YOU CAN DO --- Talltail: You wouldn’t be happy with me? OH MY POOR GAY BABY AHHHHHHH
When you said that Jake was only in the story for ten chapters, I was genuinely shocked, because it honestly felt like so much longer. From meeting Tallstar, to finding Sparrow with him, and then going back to his Twolegplace, their story together felt way longer than it actually is, and I think it goes to show how good the book is altogether. The reason I love the Tallstar/Jake shipping is because it felt so natural and not rushed. I remember there was this one scene where Talltail brought back his catch to their temporary camp, and as he entered the clearing he saw Jake's pelt bathing in sunshine, and his heart swelling with affection at the sight. It was at that moment I begun to ship them because it really did seem like genuine love. They've been through more in one book than couples from the main series in entire arcs. I think that Jake was the cat who made Talltail/star a good person, because up until that point in his life all Talltail felt was hate and misery, but Jake made him feel like he was everything instead of nothing.
This changed my thoughts about Palebird but I've still never been happier to see a clan cat die as I was to see Shrewshit die. I don't buy the whole 'IT WAS JUST A PRANK BRO" because who teases and jabs at someone's RECENTLY deceased father like that? Not buying it.
oh my goD THE PART WITH ZUKO i was laughing so much this was such a nice video to watch hjkl hearing your analysis is awesome! Makes me wanna read the book again :'0 also goddamn that animatic of jake's departure made me die jfc how dare you also thanks for including some of my art ghjkl it made me super happy!
I HAD TO BREAK EVERYONE'S HEARTS. :') The Erins broke mine with this beautiful couple. And hey, thank you for letting me use the art! It's a win win for both of us!
Agreed! I really just want them to start off from where dawn of the clans left off and keep making books until it gets near the present. 😂 warriors should continue forever!
The relationships are not well developed though, just take a look at Thunder X Violet Dawn. Relationships are also rushed, like literally all of Clear Sky's mates. I also felt that Slash was a meh villain, pretty basic and wasn't that fearful. Still my favorite arc, though.
*rubs hands together* hearing everything you enjoyed about Tallstar's Revenge, you'll LOVE Dawn of the Clans! In my opinion, it is the most well-written, developed arc in the whole series, and I fell in LOVE with every single unique character! It's disappointed me to see that no Warriors analyzer has read the arc ... there is so much to analyze! It is just fantastic.
Kinzel Kinzel I'm totally in agreement!! Dawn of the Clans has so many ideas and contrasts that make it interesting, and the characters are incredible. I think Tennelle would understand why Clear Sky went bad much better than the rest of the fandom.
Tallstar's Revenge made me cry, for real. I've never read a super edition that has hit me in the feels so much, and even now that I'm not into Warriors as much anymore the book still hurts my soul and tugs at my heartstrings. The Erins really outdid themselves when it came to Tallstar's Revenge, and it's by far my favourite super edition. Also, Tallstar x Jake bro... we all know it's real.
Well, since 2 Erins out of 3 said it was actually real, I don't see why people keep thinking of it as just an other fandom ship, it IS real and confirmed by the authors
Shattered Ice is one of the characters in DOTC, and actually he had lots of help from Jackdaw's Cry who was his first unofficial tunnel mate but- no spoilers so you'll just have to read it.
I always love crying about gay cats Tallstar's Revenge was such an incredible book!! I honestly wish the Erins would write more super editions that aren't about some massive All Important Prophecy but focus more on character. It hit home and resonated deep with a lot of people in the fandom including myself, and was certainly not what was expected given the general nature of the series. The general feel of the book and lesson was so refreshing, I almost didn't want to go back to the main series hah Also the fact that Warriors, a series that has changed and shaped by life so much is finally giving us LGBT representation (even if the editors don't want you to believe it) fills my heart with so much joy. I can't count how many times I've cried over Canon Gay Cats lmao Overall, great video!! I especially loved the little animated scenes and someone finally talking about Palebird. The entire book I felt such an ache for her, I'm sad to see so many readers fail to understand what she must be going through. But that's life, isn't it?
Yes! Palebird had me enraptured right from the beginning. I love her character arc a lot. And I also agree about the Super Editions, while I do like the over arcing lore and story, these character driven books are the best overall. This book I would actually recommend from a literary standpoint to someone rather than it just being a fun read. And even more yes, more diverse cats! LGBT representation! Through gender roles out the window, be the beacon of amazing characterization you can be, Warriors! :D
Hmm... No ThunderClan apprentice has made his travel to the moon stone besides Firepaw, Greypaw and Ravenpaw? Scene from "Bluestars Prophecy": Pinestar comes up to Bluepelt. "I recognised that you had no chance to go to the moon stone during your apprenticeship! I want you to join me this night." (And on the way Pinestar hinted that he wanted to rule ThunderClan no more, etc.) Okay, she was a warrior then but he hints that others had the chance to do so as apprentices!
They hint towards it several times in many of the books, but most of time it is either completely ignored, forgotten about, or not a big deal. Talltail and their group went to the Moonpool and actually touched their noses to the stone to talk to StarClan. It's a spiritual rite of passage into adulthood and most of time it's treated as no big deal, while the silent vigil rite of passage ceremony is treated like a life changing event for most cats.
TennelleFlowers I have to smile about that last thing, because I've read "Code of the Clans" recently and there Squirrelflight describes ridiculous ways to come through your virgil without falling into sleep. For example by jumping up on the Highrock and watching from there or by hunting leaves. Yeah, definetly a rite of maturing... xD
The thing that stuck out to me the most out of EVERYTHING that this book included was him feeling trapped by the boundaries. That idea has never EVER been even alluded to by another cat, and I find that slight idea of living and patrolling in the same place as redundant kind of fascinating in how it effects the warriors in the territory.
Phenomenal job Tennelle! This was so worth the wait and I totally feel like I need to read this book now! I especially liked how you pointed out that Shrewclaw (that was his name, right? :P ) wasn't really bullying Talltail, but it was his perception that gave off the impression. Such clever writing-man I gotta read this! Also all aboard the SS TallxJake
You gotta read it! It's great. Yeah, Shrewclaw was a character who totally 180'd when Talltail came to peace with things, it's a really mature and insightful character arc to come from these books. Thanks a lot! :D
My head cannon is that Shrew-Claw was in love with Tall-Star so he was like a tsndere to him. But Tall-Star never got ze message so he tried making him jealous by taking on a mate, but it failed.
Feather Light I know, that's why i said " the movie" this book would be good because it's part of the series but it has a plot that begins and ends, it's one of there best books, and has tons of emotion.
oh trust me i totally get it. crookedstar is my favorite character (next to tallstar and thistleclaw) so i was pretty mad at her for a loooong time and celebrated her death
You know. I always thought that Tallstar's Revenge should have ended when Jake said: "You are a Warrior. You'll always be a Warrior." BOOM! There, no "return" to Windclan just... I think I should have ended that way.
What if rusty had joined windclan? tigerstar almost killed his dads friends son.... Repeatedly Pinestars son= tigerstar, Tigerstars son= bramblestar . . . bluestars daughter= mistystar, Mistystars uncle is crookedstar, firestars dad Is tallstars best friend . . . . wasn't tiger star also part sky clan? Or was it just spotted leaf
Some of the Erins HAVE acknowledged it! The only reason it's not explicitly stated in the books is the publishers wouldn't allow it. They're mates, it's canon
Vicky and Kate both said that Jake X Tallstar is a real thing, so with 2 Erins out of 3 saying it exists, I think considering it canon wouldn't be going too far
What I think is especially cute and nice is in the little short comic/manga accompanying it, it shows Tallstar after he dies being led by Jake to Starclan, ending off Tallstar’s life before Starclan by being with his best friend (maybe more, who am I to judge) once again
whoever that was in the outtakes and i are of the same opinion on the name Talltail, i remember way back in the day when i read the first series for the first time my friends and i all liked to guess what the leaders' warrior names were and i jokingly said 'Hey i bet Tallstar was Talltail cause of his long tail!' and we all laughed at how dumb it sounded, but hey i did get to brag about being right in the end!
It's hard to believe that people still doubt Tallstar being in love with Jake, despite such sappy lines like this: "Grass, greener than Jake's eyes, lay in swathes between the bushes" (Ch39) They're sooo cute!!
ohh my god simmy i love your series of 'simmy speaks' but this is def my favourite episode?? your analysis' are always so well thought out, and the way you described talltails loneliness and unbelonging made me feel so lonelY. i loved how u talked abt jakes and talltails relationship and the way you portrayed the scene where jake leaves just breaks my heart oh my goDD
~~~~~JAKE~~~~~~~ At the end I was waiting for them to give a Tall(name) they could think of LOL YOU DID IT TENNELLE. YOU DIIIIIIID DO. Great video :D I really enjoyed watching/listening!!! I always love your videos. You have such nice little insights. And got me to re-read Tallstar's revenge since I knew you were doing it (you gotta keep me updated on what you're working on so I can read/watch stuff before the videos...) but NICE. NICE NICE.
I will be sure to let everyone know on twitter whatever I decided to do next! ;D Thank you so much for the support! It took a long time to make, but it was certainly worth it!
To be totally honest, the book never really clicked for me just because Tallstar's whole "revenge" thing seemed very melodramatic/overblown to me, like, I understand his reasoning, but I feel like the erins laid it on a little too thickly. And don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but the mention of Shattered ice is actually a callback to Dawn of the Clans, where instead of Shattered ice feeding the clans he saves some cats from dogs by shoving them into the tunnels. At least, as far as I can remember... Also, my favorite super edition definitely has to be Crookedstar's promise, with probably one of the best romances in the series with Crookedstar and Willowbreeze.
JustJimothy Shattered Ice got changed a little, but yeah, he did pioneer the tunnels! I wish Tennelle had read DotC before reading this book, she would have something to say about it.
Same I still liked it but I was like he is dead get over it (that's a little insensitive sorry) I just kinda annoyed by the end of book, but hey that's why we are here to get these different views and opinions.
Most people don't like it that much, but I *LOVE* Firestar's Quest. Sure, the journey itself was sort of boring, but I loved watching him and Sandstorm rebuild SkyClan.
I feel like most people like this book due to it being so different in tone from the others, whereas the other Super Editions were largely about self doubt, characterization, motivation, and loss, this book explores entirely new ground. It explores a sense of belonging, denial of pain, and ultimately, self-improvement. Also, does anyone else notice that the only two books solely about this revolve around WindClan cats? Coincidence? I think not!
I remember reading the book in 7th grade I forgot a good bit of it the things I remember is tall tail trying to help hopkit with his foot, saving his siblings, being upset that he couldn't be remade a tunneler and the tunnels are being blocked out, tall tail getting poison, shrewclaw teasing tall tail calling him worm kit, his dad trying to convince him to be a tunneler, and I think tall tail gets taken in by Jake's twoleg/house folk/owner, and his mom being depressed a lot
i love tallstar's revenge but i cant help but wish this is how it eneded: Tall'star greeted Shrewclaw, (after visting the moonstone to get him nine lives) Tall'star let out a purr of a amusment "happy Wormcat is leader now?'' Shrewclaw meet tallstars gaze ''Youre not WormCat, Youre WormStar.''
It’s been a good 8 years since I last read a Warriors book, and at 20, there’s a part of me that wants to just go back and reread it all. I lost interest around AVoS, and I mighta spoiled it for myself by reading the TLDR in one go, but I could still read it again. Though I will say, I do reread “Crookedstar’s Promise” every now and then. Crookedstar is awesome, for one, and for another, Mapleshade. Nuff said.
Tallstar is (and always has been) my favorite cat since I read that book. PLUS: Windclan should be the main clan instead of Thunderclan BECAUSE Thunderclan is full of Marysues (perfect characters), they always win wars/battles (well, most of the time),and stick their noses in other clan's business.
Thunderclan is as messed up as other clans and no one in that clan is a Mary sue. They all got flaws. How many traitors and dark forest warriors came from thunderclan or was drawn to the dark forest? Heck the biggest problem was still an issue throughout all the series til the last hope. Not to mention the mental problems. Goosefeather anyone? Ravenpaw also couldn’t be a warrior either. Every clan got their flaws. Some bigger than others.
I do agree that ThunderClan is one of the most boring clans, but I disagree that ThunderClan is sticking their noses into other clans business. They are just trying to stop cats, even if they are from other clans, from getting hurt/dying.
Scene at 21 minutes gave me nostalgia towards the first book; you already feel connected to the characters after only reading a little about them and the choices that they're making, while still being overwhelmed by all that's happening and all that you're learning about the story. Really glad you made this video and so many great points; thank you so much.
As annoying as it sometimes was that the tunnelers and moor runners were continuously aurguing, i loved the tunnelers and their place in windclan, making it special and giving it something uniqe, like all the other clans had. If I was in WindClan, I'd rather be a tunneler, honestly, and can can really see from their point of view. So why did you have to make tunneling against the cat laws, Heatherstar? Why?
I don't blame Palebird for her condition, but I do hate Woollytail. He was the one who told Heatherstar about the tunnels, didn't correct or defend Tallpaw from Sandgorse's anger, and in the end, gave Tallstar a life for tradition because of a tradition closed down because of him. This also connects to The Broken Code, and I hate how he was never acknowledged for his lack of action, instead rewarded with a mate in Palebird, the mother of the cat whose relationship with his father he jeopardized, and four kits. I also hate how in the end, when Talltail saves two of their kits from the bird, how Palebird doesn't even welcome him back (my memory is a bit fuzzy but I remember her only caring about her kits, not even noticing but instead scolding him after he made his personal self-discovery). Raising Tallkit I can understand how she was affected by her condition, but by the time of her return I wish she was just a tad more welcoming. Shrewclaw is your Beetlenose, your Thistleclaw, your Foxheart. I don't like how during a training session, he nearly kills Tallpaw, then Tallpaw gets blamed for it and later on he calls it all a "joke". It's not a joke to frame someone for trying to hurt you when they are trying to defend themselves from you, who in reality is the cat who is actually intending harm. I like how he develops later on in the book, and how he admits them to never truly being friends, but allies, but he, like Woollytail, never gets punished for this or ever acknowledged about this again.
I agree with most of this, but Shrewpaw never tried or got close to killing Tallpaw during training sessions, at least I don't remember that. I remember him giving Tallpaw some small scratches (still a jerk move but not nearly killing him) and saying something offensive about Sandgorse AFTER his death (I expected Shrewpaw of all cats to understand what it's like losing a parent since Brackenwing but he used it against Tallpaw, which I guess you could say the same for Tallpaw since he once jabbed at Shrewpaw about Brackenwing's death) Saying something about Sandgorse made Tallpaw REALLY mad and enraged him so much that he attacked and nearly killed Shrewpaw, but was never punished by Heatherstar and instead got his warrior name with Shewclaw. I think in the end, Shrewclaw DID get punished. He wanted to avenge Brackenwing in the battle against Shadowclan, the same way Talltail wanted to avenge Sandgorse but less extreme. Shrewclaw moved on from his mother's death but never was taught like Talltail that revenge isn't the answer. So when the time came to fight Shadowclan again, he fought till his death and never got to raise or see his son for it. I kind of see that as a punishment or some type of cause and effect thing.
@@Loven-ru3vx Ahhhh my memory's a bit fuzzy but yeah, you're right. I do like how both of them deal with their "revenges" and I do like how they acknowledge they're not friends in the end, but I still think he shouldn't have provoked Tallpaw. I know he was only intending a few scratches, but those easily could have become scars. My problem with it is that the cats that do wrong never really get punished or acknowledged about it and Talltail suffers the consequences.
I was literally crying in the part where Tennelle was reading the scene where they say goodbye.....I didn't remember it being that heartwrenching. I loved this video, and I was surprised with myself that I managed to sit still through all of it just because I wanted to hear what Tennelle had to say about one of my favorite super editions!
I, too, think TallStar's Revenge is one of the best written stories in the series. My personal favorite though is RavenPaw's Farewell. I cry every time I read it. He was a good cat caught up in a bad scenario. He wasn't a coward, but a realist who knew he couldn't protect himself from TigerClaw. He didn't run away without warning his friends and trying to warn Blue star. In the end, even Blue star admitted that he had been miss judged and deserved his place in StarClan. He, however, showed true loyalty to his life companion.
I like Bluestar’s Prophecy, but let me explain. I was VERY depressed at the moment, and reading Bluestar’s Prochecy eased my pain. My Mom he just died, and when I was reading that book it felt like I finally had someone to sympathize with. I felt like I was with Bluestar, and she was with me every step of the way. So many good memories of reading that book, and I know the writings not that good, but god. I love this book. ❤️
This made me insanely happy. Tallstar's Revenge is my favourite Warriors book, followed only by Tigerheart's Shadow. Thank you for showering it with the love it deserves!
I didn't mind Palebird, until Talltail/star left and when he returned. She sent him away right before he left because he was 'being disruptive', when he'd only popped in to check up on them, which no mother should do, even though it happens. And when he came back, she hadn't even seemed to noticed he'd left whatsoever, but it'd been around a moon since he'd left, she said nothing and did nothing, she didn't notice him, and had to have her attention grabbed by another cat while her son was talking to even be informed he was leaving at all. I get the depression part, but at that point, it's neglect and I can see why Tallstar believed she'd be happier with Finchkit than him, his mother basically ignored him the second he said he didn't want to be a tunneler, and at that point, any child would see nothing but regret or disappointment in their parent. She wasn't such a bad mom, until she literally stopped noticing him completely, to the point you wouldn't think they were related at all and he was just another cat in the clan to her.
I (sort of) agree with you. Palebird was treating him kind of neutrally, like any other cat. She had lost her connection to him. But that doesn’t mean she’s a bad mother. She focused on her new kits and new mate, but also at least acknowledged Talltail. She wasn’t a good mother, but she wasn’t a bad one either, and should NOT be compared to Rainflower.
@@wesli2510
I agree that she shouldn’t be compared to Rainflower, who was actively abusive and cruel, but Palebird was very neglectful and that is a form of abuse. Even was Tallkit was young, she was very disinterested in him, and while I understand that she was depressed, her actions still ended up damaging her child. It’s not her fault she was mentally ill, but she has to at least take accountability for her actions. She never even apologized to him, and still didn’t care about him much when she had gotten out of her depressed state.
@forestlite He did run away too tho- He stayed with the rogues at the barn for a while..
@@forestlite_ Except that even though their ways are considered abuse, her level isn't comparable to Rainflower's. It's odd to compare neglect and disinterest to actively and intentionally isolating your child and putting them down to make their sibling look better just because the child has a disability.
@@mysryuza true, its neglect vs. ableism in simplified terms, theyre both bad however Rainflower is just horrible, Palebird is more rlly bad, they shouldnt be comared definitely
Me at the start: Right, let's see a quick review of Tallstar's Revenge!
Me at the end: *in tears* well. That didn't go to plan.
I see a lot of people who haven't read Tallstar's Revenge, and instead read Bluestar's Prophecy. Most people hate Hawkheart, and they feel influenced to hate him through Bluestar's Prophecy, but ion Tallstar's Revenge, Hawkheart is actually a nice cat. Just shows how two books can change a character!
Leah llama even though I read bluestars prophecy I always found hawk heart interesting despite him killing moonflower
Chloe Hawkheart did it for a cause. He saw Moonflower attempting to destroy the herbs and viewed the destruction of the innocent elders, queens and kits. So he did his natural instinct, seeing as he use to be a warrior, Hawkheart probably forgot the capability of his attacks and in the process, accidentally did too much damage to Moonflower, then tried to act as if he knew he was going to. Or he just went into a rage mode and killed her. Either way, Hawkhearts' a really nice cat >.< (P.S: People judge him by reading BlueStars' prophecy.)
Yeah, I actually really like Hawkheart, he's really interesting. I wonder how he became a Medicine Cat. He sure wasn't happy about it.
Falling_Star Agreed! I find him really interesting, and how he used to be a warrior then turned a medicine cat, like Yellowfang
Falling_Star Yeah I like him too, but I still wanted to rip him to shreds.
I feel like Jake and Talltail sort of Parallels Barely and Ravenpaw. Talltail is insecure, much like Ravenpaw, and they were both bullied. If Ravenpaw had returned to thunderclan, I feel like he would become a very valuable warrior.
Now Barley and Jake are both not clan cats, but seem to be fine with adventure. Barely left an impression on Ravenpaw that life was not as scary as he thought, and Jake left an impression on Talltail that life was much greater than he thought.
Omg Percy! You read warriors!
Man, that part where you were reading about where Talltail and Jake come back into the clan's territory literally gave me chills. That scene is... ahh!! heartbreakinnnnng!!
Amazing job on the review! I've always been rather poopoo on Windclan but after watching this I'm definitely more interested in them! (yoU'RE CONVERTING ME. but tbh riverclanisstillbestclan)
When you said that Jake was only in the story for ten chapters, I was genuinely shocked, because it honestly felt like so much longer. From meeting Tallstar, to finding Sparrow with him, and then going back to his Twolegplace, their story together felt way longer than it actually is, and I think it goes to show how good the book is altogether. The reason I love the Tallstar/Jake shipping is because it felt so natural and not rushed. I remember there was this one scene where Talltail brought back his catch to their temporary camp, and as he entered the clearing he saw Jake's pelt bathing in sunshine, and his heart swelling with affection at the sight. It was at that moment I begun to ship them because it really did seem like genuine love. They've been through more in one book than couples from the main series in entire arcs. I think that Jake was the cat who made Talltail/star a good person, because up until that point in his life all Talltail felt was hate and misery, but Jake made him feel like he was everything instead of nothing.
I see now that Jake is basically saying the whole! “You can’t live a paw in two worlds.” Message.
Loved Tallstar, I'm more of a riverclan person, but I do also love windclan.
This changed my thoughts about Palebird but I've still never been happier to see a clan cat die as I was to see Shrewshit die. I don't buy the whole 'IT WAS JUST A PRANK BRO" because who teases and jabs at someone's RECENTLY deceased father like that? Not buying it.
And hey, thank you for letting me use the art! It's a win win for both of us!
Woah man, you NEED to read Dawn of the Clans! It's amazingly well-written, and the character development far exceeds that of most of the other books.
I agree 102% ...
Agreed! I really just want them to start off from where dawn of the clans left off and keep making books until it gets near the present. 😂 warriors should continue forever!
poor gray wing and turtle tail and rainswept flower and thunder and violet and fern and hawk swoop and wind runner and tall shadow..
LilahPlays AND CLEAR SKY
The relationships are not well developed though, just take a look at Thunder X Violet Dawn. Relationships are also rushed, like literally all of Clear Sky's mates. I also felt that Slash was a meh villain, pretty basic and wasn't that fearful.
Still my favorite arc, though.
*rubs hands together* hearing everything you enjoyed about Tallstar's Revenge, you'll LOVE Dawn of the Clans! In my opinion, it is the most well-written, developed arc in the whole series, and I fell in LOVE with every single unique character! It's disappointed me to see that no Warriors analyzer has read the arc ... there is so much to analyze! It is just fantastic.
Kinzel Kinzel I'm totally in agreement!! Dawn of the Clans has so many ideas and contrasts that make it interesting, and the characters are incredible. I think Tennelle would understand why Clear Sky went bad much better than the rest of the fandom.
+PearlyCat Sketches exactly ... and his transition from antagonist to anti-hero was superbly written
Kinzel I agree. Dawn of the Clans is my favorite arc.
Dawn of the Clans is the best. It has such an astounding narrative to describe some of its hitters with its own scenes. Get Tennelle to get on it!
Tallstar's Revenge made me cry, for real. I've never read a super edition that has hit me in the feels so much, and even now that I'm not into Warriors as much anymore the book still hurts my soul and tugs at my heartstrings. The Erins really outdid themselves when it came to Tallstar's Revenge, and it's by far my favourite super edition. Also, Tallstar x Jake bro... we all know it's real.
Well, since 2 Erins out of 3 said it was actually real, I don't see why people keep thinking of it as just an other fandom ship, it IS real and confirmed by the authors
Shattered Ice is one of the characters in DOTC, and actually he had lots of help from Jackdaw's Cry who was his first unofficial tunnel mate but- no spoilers so you'll just have to read it.
I AM NOT CRYING ABOUT THE TALLTAIL AND JAKE PART MY EYES ARE JUST SWEATING!!!!!!!!!
I always love crying about gay cats
Tallstar's Revenge was such an incredible book!! I honestly wish the Erins would write more super editions that aren't about some massive All Important Prophecy but focus more on character. It hit home and resonated deep with a lot of people in the fandom including myself, and was certainly not what was expected given the general nature of the series. The general feel of the book and lesson was so refreshing, I almost didn't want to go back to the main series hah
Also the fact that Warriors, a series that has changed and shaped by life so much is finally giving us LGBT representation (even if the editors don't want you to believe it) fills my heart with so much joy. I can't count how many times I've cried over Canon Gay Cats lmao
Overall, great video!! I especially loved the little animated scenes and someone finally talking about Palebird. The entire book I felt such an ache for her, I'm sad to see so many readers fail to understand what she must be going through. But that's life, isn't it?
Yes! Palebird had me enraptured right from the beginning. I love her character arc a lot.
And I also agree about the Super Editions, while I do like the over arcing lore and story, these character driven books are the best overall. This book I would actually recommend from a literary standpoint to someone rather than it just being a fun read.
And even more yes, more diverse cats! LGBT representation! Through gender roles out the window, be the beacon of amazing characterization you can be, Warriors! :D
catty THANK YOU,ERIN HUNTER! IM LESBIAN
OMFG I NEVER NOTICED YOU CATTY!!!!????
Gays aren't being represented? That's why they have a whole month.
Chirpy Birb They said LGBT in the Warriors series, not in general, stop it.
Rabbit brain is a good insult. Really I have seen a real rabbit brain, and there tiny. XD
Calling someone a rabbit brain is essentially calling them stupid, cowardly, and horny, so rather a good insult indeed
The fact that you found this after 2 years is quite impressive. I don’t even remember writing this comment XD. Thank you it’s fun to look back!
Hmm... No ThunderClan apprentice has made his travel to the moon stone besides Firepaw, Greypaw and Ravenpaw?
Scene from "Bluestars Prophecy":
Pinestar comes up to Bluepelt.
"I recognised that you had no chance to go to the moon stone during your apprenticeship! I want you to join me this night."
(And on the way Pinestar hinted that he wanted to rule ThunderClan no more, etc.)
Okay, she was a warrior then but he hints that others had the chance to do so as apprentices!
They hint towards it several times in many of the books, but most of time it is either completely ignored, forgotten about, or not a big deal. Talltail and their group went to the Moonpool and actually touched their noses to the stone to talk to StarClan. It's a spiritual rite of passage into adulthood and most of time it's treated as no big deal, while the silent vigil rite of passage ceremony is treated like a life changing event for most cats.
TennelleFlowers
I have to smile about that last thing, because I've read "Code of the Clans" recently and there Squirrelflight describes ridiculous ways to come through your virgil without falling into sleep. For example by jumping up on the Highrock and watching from there or by hunting leaves.
Yeah, definetly a rite of maturing... xD
lol, well, this is Squirrelflight we're talking about. X)
It seems only future leaders go to Moonstone. Other than Ravenoaw and Graystripe.
I remember reading it! I still am. no spoilers! on chapter 35 page 424-425 Such a good book! you should read it:) and you mean Bluefur right?
The thing that stuck out to me the most out of EVERYTHING that this book included was him feeling trapped by the boundaries. That idea has never EVER been even alluded to by another cat, and I find that slight idea of living and patrolling in the same place as redundant kind of fascinating in how it effects the warriors in the territory.
My head cannon is that Shrew-Claw was in love with Tall-Star so he was like a tsndere to him.
But Tall-Star never got ze message so he tried making him jealous by taking on a mate, but it failed.
Clan: We have a clan.
Tallstar: We have a Jake.
someone finally understands the masterpiece that is Tallstars Revenge!!!!
I was listening to the review of the book. And I heard you call SandGorse, SandGross X3 just something I heard.
And at the end I finally see. TALLSTAR IS IN LOVE WITH JAKE. That is what I believe.
I heard it too
To be totally honest, the book never really clicked for me just because Tallstar's whole "revenge" thing seemed very melodramatic/overblown to me, like, I understand his reasoning, but I feel like the erins laid it on a little too thickly.
And don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but the mention of Shattered ice is actually a callback to Dawn of the Clans, where instead of Shattered ice feeding the clans he saves some cats from dogs by shoving them into the tunnels. At least, as far as I can remember...
Also, my favorite super edition definitely has to be Crookedstar's promise, with probably one of the best romances in the series with Crookedstar and Willowbreeze.
JustJimothy Shattered Ice got changed a little, but yeah, he did pioneer the tunnels! I wish Tennelle had read DotC before reading this book, she would have something to say about it.
Why do I always come back to this video and watch it
Most people don't like it that much, but I *LOVE* Firestar's Quest. Sure, the journey itself was sort of boring, but I loved watching him and Sandstorm rebuild SkyClan.
it IS a pretty good book, and I feel like it strengthens Firestar and Sandstorm's bond. I have a paperback copy of the book. ^w^
I feel like most people like this book due to it being so different in tone from the others, whereas the other Super Editions were largely about self doubt, characterization, motivation, and loss, this book explores entirely new ground. It explores a sense of belonging, denial of pain, and ultimately, self-improvement. Also, does anyone else notice that the only two books solely about this revolve around WindClan cats? Coincidence? I think not!
I remember reading the book in 7th grade I forgot a good bit of it the things I remember is tall tail trying to help hopkit with his foot, saving his siblings, being upset that he couldn't be remade a tunneler and the tunnels are being blocked out, tall tail getting poison, shrewclaw teasing tall tail calling him worm kit, his dad trying to convince him to be a tunneler, and I think tall tail gets taken in by Jake's twoleg/house folk/owner, and his mom being depressed a lot
GURL I'm gonna read this book as soon as I can!
I usually watch the simmy speaks to see if the book I wanna read is good enough.
THEN YOU JUST KINDA HEARD THE ENTIRE PLOT OF THE STORY WTF SHE LITERALLY MADE YOU AN AUDIOBOOK SUMMARY.
“Fat kitty-pet Fire dad”
Me: *rolling on the floor wheezing and laughing my head off*
i love tallstar's revenge but i cant help but wish this is how it eneded:
Tall'star greeted Shrewclaw, (after visting the moonstone to get him nine lives) Tall'star let out a purr of a amusment "happy Wormcat is leader now?'' Shrewclaw meet tallstars gaze ''Youre not WormCat, Youre WormStar.''
Awww I love Jake and Talltail
It’s such a beautiful friendship!!!
“Wormcat…avenge brackenwing for me..” made me WEEP beyond comprehension
They tackled Palenird? Am I the only one who imagined the Erin’s tackling a cat? No one else? Ok
It’s been a good 8 years since I last read a Warriors book, and at 20, there’s a part of me that wants to just go back and reread it all. I lost interest around AVoS, and I mighta spoiled it for myself by reading the TLDR in one go, but I could still read it again.
Though I will say, I do reread “Crookedstar’s Promise” every now and then. Crookedstar is awesome, for one, and for another, Mapleshade. Nuff said.
Tallstar is (and always has been) my favorite cat since I read that book.
PLUS: Windclan should be the main clan instead of Thunderclan BECAUSE Thunderclan is full of Marysues (perfect characters), they always win wars/battles (well, most of the time),and stick their noses in other clan's business.
Reading through the comments again; someone gets it. Besides, WindClan is best Clan, not RiverClan! xD
Thunderclan is as messed up as other clans and no one in that clan is a Mary sue. They all got flaws. How many traitors and dark forest warriors came from thunderclan or was drawn to the dark forest? Heck the biggest problem was still an issue throughout all the series til the last hope. Not to mention the mental problems. Goosefeather anyone? Ravenpaw also couldn’t be a warrior either. Every clan got their flaws. Some bigger than others.
sandywolfr26 *cough Firestar cough*
OH SHOOT ITS RAVEN tbh im a Firestar supporter but yeah gotta say hes too “perfect”
I do agree that ThunderClan is one of the most boring clans, but I disagree that ThunderClan is sticking their noses into other clans business. They are just trying to stop cats, even if they are from other clans, from getting hurt/dying.
Scene at 21 minutes gave me nostalgia towards the first book; you already feel connected to the characters after only reading a little about them and the choices that they're making, while still being overwhelmed by all that's happening and all that you're learning about the story. Really glad you made this video and so many great points; thank you so much.
Finally! Someone who doesn’t hate Palebird’s character! Thank you for the explanation! ^^
As annoying as it sometimes was that the tunnelers and moor runners were continuously aurguing, i loved the tunnelers and their place in windclan, making it special and giving it something uniqe, like all the other clans had. If I was in WindClan, I'd rather be a tunneler, honestly, and can can really see from their point of view. So why did you have to make tunneling against the cat laws, Heatherstar? Why?
It’s sad to think about the fact that not a single cat from Tallstar’s Revenge is alive at the current place in the Warriors timeline.
I don't blame Palebird for her condition, but I do hate Woollytail. He was the one who told Heatherstar about the tunnels, didn't correct or defend Tallpaw from Sandgorse's anger, and in the end, gave Tallstar a life for tradition because of a tradition closed down because of him. This also connects to The Broken Code, and I hate how he was never acknowledged for his lack of action, instead rewarded with a mate in Palebird, the mother of the cat whose relationship with his father he jeopardized, and four kits.
I also hate how in the end, when Talltail saves two of their kits from the bird, how Palebird doesn't even welcome him back (my memory is a bit fuzzy but I remember her only caring about her kits, not even noticing but instead scolding him after he made his personal self-discovery). Raising Tallkit I can understand how she was affected by her condition, but by the time of her return I wish she was just a tad more welcoming.
Shrewclaw is your Beetlenose, your Thistleclaw, your Foxheart.
I don't like how during a training session, he nearly kills Tallpaw, then Tallpaw gets blamed for it and later on he calls it all a "joke". It's not a joke to frame someone for trying to hurt you when they are trying to defend themselves from you, who in reality is the cat who is actually intending harm. I like how he develops later on in the book, and how he admits them to never truly being friends, but allies, but he, like Woollytail, never gets punished for this or ever acknowledged about this again.
I agree with most of this, but Shrewpaw never tried or got close to killing Tallpaw during training sessions, at least I don't remember that. I remember him giving Tallpaw some small scratches (still a jerk move but not nearly killing him) and saying something offensive about Sandgorse AFTER his death (I expected Shrewpaw of all cats to understand what it's like losing a parent since Brackenwing but he used it against Tallpaw, which I guess you could say the same for Tallpaw since he once jabbed at Shrewpaw about Brackenwing's death) Saying something about Sandgorse made Tallpaw REALLY mad and enraged him so much that he attacked and nearly killed Shrewpaw, but was never punished by Heatherstar and instead got his warrior name with Shewclaw. I think in the end, Shrewclaw DID get punished. He wanted to avenge Brackenwing in the battle against Shadowclan, the same way Talltail wanted to avenge Sandgorse but less extreme. Shrewclaw moved on from his mother's death but never was taught like Talltail that revenge isn't the answer. So when the time came to fight Shadowclan again, he fought till his death and never got to raise or see his son for it. I kind of see that as a punishment or some type of cause and effect thing.
@@Loven-ru3vx Ahhhh my memory's a bit fuzzy but yeah, you're right. I do like how both of them deal with their "revenges" and I do like how they acknowledge they're not friends in the end, but I still think he shouldn't have provoked Tallpaw. I know he was only intending a few scratches, but those easily could have become scars. My problem with it is that the cats that do wrong never really get punished or acknowledged about it and Talltail suffers the consequences.
I was literally crying in the part where Tennelle was reading the scene where they say goodbye.....I didn't remember it being that heartwrenching. I loved this video, and I was surprised with myself that I managed to sit still through all of it just because I wanted to hear what Tennelle had to say about one of my favorite super editions!
I, too, think TallStar's Revenge is one of the best written stories in the series. My personal favorite though is RavenPaw's Farewell. I cry every time I read it. He was a good cat caught up in a bad scenario. He wasn't a coward, but a realist who knew he couldn't protect himself from TigerClaw. He didn't run away without warning his friends and trying to warn Blue star. In the end, even Blue star admitted that he had been miss judged and deserved his place in StarClan. He, however, showed true loyalty to his life companion.
I like Bluestar’s Prophecy, but let me explain. I was VERY depressed at the moment, and reading Bluestar’s Prochecy eased my pain. My Mom he just died, and when I was reading that book it felt like I finally had someone to sympathize with. I felt like I was with Bluestar, and she was with me every step of the way. So many good memories of reading that book, and I know the writings not that good, but god. I love this book. ❤️
This made me insanely happy. Tallstar's Revenge is my favourite Warriors book, followed only by Tigerheart's Shadow. Thank you for showering it with the love it deserves!
That last excerpt from the book that you read, with Tall Tail and Jake, that almost broke my heart. :(
Love Yellowfang's secret
I have a series of it... That how much
Though Yellowfang has always been my favorite character soooooooo
My favorite super edition? I really liked Yellowfang's secret. I do agree Tallstar's revenge was a great book! (Tall x Jake)
The background is beautifully drawn
