Ppl forget vi is a kid too. She may have been the leader of the kids but they were just that, kids. So just the way jinx had her impulse to go help, vi had her impulse to take a breather. She was goin back for her sister after she had a breath
I love how they invert the typical 'saves the day' trope. Powders bombs finally worked, but in her moment of triumph where she has finally proven herself to them all, she has done the worst thing possible. And regards Vi, Vi is like 15 or 16. She is still a child herself. And if powder had stayed at home, Vi's plan would have worked.
True they probably could have escaped if Powder wasn't there. What I dont understand is why Vi didn't leave Powder with Ekko. At least that way they had each other if things went wrong.
Thank you thank you thank you! So many people who watch this online tries to say it is all on powder or that Vi's poor leadership is not to blame. You stated this so perfectly I will steal this.
You guys are pretty smart when you talk shit out. Don't focus too much on placing blame for stuff or you'll be doing it for the whole show. People are who they are and they do the things they do for their own logical reasons. Sometimes peoples reasons align and sometimes they oppose each other... sometimes both. People are complicated.
The kids could climb down like they did in the first episode. Or they could have been 4 v 1 vs. Deckard. Either way, they had a better survival chance.
Noone 's fault for all if we put us in their position. Don't forget Vi & Powder also were a kid at that time. They just live correctly with their ages ,their siuation 😢
I think this is the first review (and I have watch a lot) where it was acknowledge that VI original actions was the start of all of this, which inadvertently brought the death of her adopted family. Nicely noted...? argued...? debated among you all.
I’ve probably seen every single arcane episode 3 reaction on youtube and your discussion at the end is the ONLY one that talks about how vi carries most of the fault here by not listening to vander and being too headstrong (which in her mind is what she learned from all the old vander stories) Theres blame to go all around from powder to vi to vander (his past) all the way up to the topside and its relationship w the lanes. Its cyclical and generational. Excellent reaction and observations. Subbed
It is very rare to see an intelligent objective reading of Vi's arc. Especially this early in the story. Vi very rarely runs on logic. She isn't the only one, but it is definitely the most pronounced with her. The true issue with Vi is that she only knows how to deal with problems one way, which is to punch it in the face. The problem is that none of her problems are things she can punch her way out of.
Y'all are missing a vital piece of information, none of those kids are over the age of 14, they aren't thinking like combat soldiers who can plan moves ahead. They were panicking because their father figure was kidnapped amongst a sea of bodies and blood so all they had was reaction. Vi told Powder to stay out of fear for her safety which makes sense. Powder wanted to help because she wanted to be of use which makes sense. Fault will drive you crazy here because it goes all the way back to Piltover.
I love that you recognize Vi's responsibility for all this shit. People keep overlooking how much she messes up everything. She is not alone in doing that, and it is understandable, especially for a kid and a character with her background and temper. But mistakes are mistakes. Yet she gets free ride from many fans.
You wannt drag it all the way out to a single point of blame, this is the Piltover counsils fault. If you wanna go even further, its Heimerdingers fault, as head of the counsil and founder of the city. If they didnt oppress the undercity, they wouldnt have to steal and Vi wouldnt have gone on that first misison in the first place.
while i do think that powder "killed" Vander, milo & clagger, I in no way would blame her- seeing as even if they had escaped out the hole in the wall, the fall would have killed them, they would have been followed since none of the henchmen would have died in the explosion or the monster would have burst through the door before they could fully escape since powder's bomb invertedly distracted it.
If powder didn't come they would escape milo got vander free and claggor broke the wall maybe they would chase them and find them anyway nobody knows but the fact is that 3 of them died beacuse of powder actions
Sure, they could have gotten out of the hole in the wall that Claggor made but when Vander went out of that hole (even all juiced up and super strong) the fall killed him. So I don't see how normal Vander and some children are surviving that fall. Just sayin'
I can undertstand your point of view but I do think that their deaths are Powders fault. I am not blaming her because shes still a child and didnt know any better. But Vi, Vander and the other two kids wouldve made it or am I wrong? Milo picked all the locks, Vander got free and the other kid created an exit. They probably couldve jumped down there and escape or something. Yall are right, Vi didnt listen but that doesnt change the fact that they woudlve made it. Power didnt listen because of her abandonment issues. They likely wouldve been alive if it wasnt for her monkey bomb. The Monster (sry forgot is name) also couldve broke the door but Vander still got free thanks to Milo and we saw Vander take him on and almost killing it after the explosion. Vander and Vi (if she gathered all her strenght again) couldve killed that Monster. What I want to say is that the chances of their survival were pretty good/high if it wasnt for Powder. So I do think its her fault, again without blaming her. PS love your vids❤
I also hope that when you all come back from watching the next episode(s), you all revisit or acknowledge who was right between C Smith and Jay-3 about if Powder will be manipulated or not. You all were quite passionate about this point, you must follow up on please.
Finally. So i've done whole essays trying to tell people they give Vi too much of a pass. THANK YOU for pointing out that she is also at fault for ALOT of things.
It’s been a long time coming I’m glad you guys finally started watching Arcane. Now where’s the new Vox Machina content!!! lol Much love guys and we need some more livestreams from you guys as well Please 😊
....But they had a way out. Glaggor made a hole in the wall big enough for Vander to go through. Without Powder they would have gotten out. No question.
I think it's just one of those thing that happen when you ain't got no other options. Fault? Naw... but consequence will always find those who're still in the ghetto or the muck eventually. Those kids never had a chance.
this is just my opinion but with the environment like that vi is considered an adult or atleast know what she was doin. i know her emotion is not stable but she is an adult and a leader as well and she doing great with it. powder is a kid with a mental ilness because you see her action when vi say to her to stay, she throwing a tantrum. and thats why he can transform into jinx even she know that vi is her only sister and she obesessed with her.
Jay just because shes a kid doesnt mean shes innocent of all charges 😂shes a jinx man it is what it is and the reason why they died..thats like saying if i got stabbed by a kid and died its not her fault because she's a kid..bruh how? Jinx went on her own avail nobody forced her they say stay behind vader would have died
she’s not innocent but she’s not ALL at fault and it sounds like ur putting the blame all on her…both Powder AND Vi are at fault. their intentions were good but their actions were tragic
@NakamotoYutaismyhusband well I was just saying based off the reaction It sounded like they were trying to excuse jinx from all her wrongdoing just because she is young character.. I think they kindve realized it by the finale of season 1 reaction lol but that's just my intuition speaking lot of reactors regardless if it's them or not tend to do that when it come to youthful characters shift the blame

Vi is also a child.

My 3rd favorite episode 😭 Loved your commentary at the end… can’t wait for more
Very important, not a spoiler!
Look at 18:58
Now look up "Fallen angel" by Alexandre Cabanel.

"Literally, the poor versus the rich" - exactly. the only villains are the people at the top, the rest are victims.

Vi isn't responsible... their situation in the beginning is to blame. Its unfair to put so much weight on a fucked up kid.
You wannt drag it all the way out to a single point of blame, this is the Piltover counsils fault.

No, they were GOING to escape. Claggor had already made a path. That's what makes it so tragic, if not for Powder they would have escaped.

Both vi and powder are at fault for what happened 🤷
