Hi Lesley - A huge thanks to you for the great videos, info on many bird species, relaxing many of us, and giving the chance to those that do not have certain birds in their to see and learn about them in your videos. I only saw one Robin for a few days - then it was gone. :( - Stephanie
You should hear them on the Platte River in spring & summer. They flock the cottonwoods by the thousands. And their early morning chorus is a cacophony of bird call. No need for an alarm clock.
Same with me. They were the first bird I learned to identify as a child as well. Their songs will always give me that lovely nostalgia and a flash of warm childhood memories
@Unipig Studios Omg, same here! This past week the robins have really been singing and the sound immediately takes me back to my childhood and such peaceful, pleasant memories.
Me and my mom always enjoy seeing the robins return each year. It's amazing how one day you don't see a single robin, then you wake up the next day and they're everywhere.
I live in Ontario Canada. I saw my first robin of the year last week. My mom was always so happy when she would see the first robin of the year. She hated cold and snow, and seeing the first robin meant that spring was officially here. I smiled last week and thought of her when I saw the first robin.
I love robins so, so much. Last summer a pair of robins nested by my window and raised two beautiful babies. It was such a wonderful experience watching them raise their babies and I felt so honored they blessed us with their presence 😭❤️ such sweet and friendly feathered friends!
Aw, that’s so sweet! I think Robins have made a nest and raised young around our house at least several times. One of my first memories of seeing baby birds out in the wild when I was a kid was when my mom showed me a nest full of hungry baby Robins near the front door of our house when we came home after running an errand. I guess our shadow must’ve made them think it was the parents returning with food. So cute! I’ll never forget that moment.
I had a similar idea just a few days ago. I was thinking what an American experience should be, from a conservation perspective, and how so many native species should be more respected for so many reasons, including exactly the experience you mentioned. Glad you enjoy them exactly as you mentioned!
Even though they have a habit of choosing the worst places to want to build nests, Robins are still a favorite of mine. I love waking up to their songs.
It's nice to see all the positive comments. And interaction on this here channel. It's hard to find that. Well, happy birding peeps! Bird nerd, keep doing what you do best! Love and peace!
No mom used to get all excited every March whenever she saw the first Robin back after winter. Now that she has been gone awhile, everytime I see a Robin I think of her.
I love how no human has ever had a problem with robins lol. They are such sweethearts and they’d be like the goodie two shoes of the bird world. Bt can you do more videos about pigeons and doves?
@Yggdrasil American Robins are scrappy - not sure what birds the people are talking about being so sweet. They are plenty scrappy, or should I say, snarky. LOL. Northern Cardinals may be sweet, but Robins, well like all Thrush's, they like to have their opinions heard - and listened to!
robins are suddenly everywhere - they mostly stay away from our feeders but they do love the lawn! in the summer they love to turn over bark and old leaves to find insects
Love that feeding at 2:21. Mom deftly divides the food quickly and efficiently into those little babies' mouths. I love robins. Another great video, Lesley. Thanks! 🐤🐤🐤🐤
Saw my first robin on the first day of spring in southern Saskatchewan. I love the way the males will sing their heart out from the top of a tree calling that special gal.
My great grandmother always pointed the red breasted robins out to me, they were her favorite. Everytime I see one I think of those pleasant, carefree days. Thank you for your relaxing content. 💕
At my house the robin is the first bird up and chirping. They get up really early and I can even hear them through my bathroom window when I am getting dressed. Its always good to see them so happy they hang out around my house.
A robin once nested in the wreath hanging on our front door. All three chicks successfully fledged. When you said they can nest just about anywhere, you wern't kidding!
We had over a foot of snow last year in late march in northern Ohio .So i always plow out an area under the tree out back and spread seed. A robin ran up the path I made with snow walls towering over and she approached me and gave me the "can you help a friend out look" Robins don't eat seed so only as a last resort. And since all natural food had been pretty much eaten up over the winter I chopped raisens/figs/dates into bite size pieces and I found a friend. She would wait for me and at least 2-3 times a day I'd give her a hefty helping until the snow subsided. She would get real close, smart enough to know i was no threat. Not long after it was obvious she was carrying a clutch of eggs so i kept assiting her dietary needs and she was good company my wife got a kick out of her too. She could look in the kitchen window from the gutter over hang and occasionally peak in. Seemingly the robins left whole area in late July and didn't return until the end of February. So now there is another who naturally stopped by and perhaps a bit leary after 9 months of no contact. Not sure if it's the same one or an offsping but still will get with in 7-8 ft. And we enjoy her company, I have a woods & creek behind my house so plenty of them here - hope they stick around a little longer this year 😎
Male Robins certainly love fighting their own reflections more than any bird I know. Our resident has a favorite sun room doppelganger. Much amusement. :)
One life of writing wouldn't be enough to express how much I love birds. This morning I saw Eurasian jays building their nest. How wonderful Thank you for what you create ♡
I grew up in upstate NY north of Syracuse, I loved seeing robins start showing up, it meant nice weather was right around the corner. Great video, thank you.
So funny, the Robins made themselves known to me just this morning with their song - chasing each other for territoy - looking for mates and looking for food! They were not so apparent till today! When they sing at dusk and dawn, it is just so beautiful! Spring is here! We found a baby robin one year - he was way too young to be out of the nest! We fed and cared for him with the help of a neighbor who knew just what he needed in many aspects. We never kept him from freedom, and he stuck around till he was big enough and old enough to survive on his own. He was a part of our family till he decided to explore - which we encouraged. He loved my mom, he would roost on her head! And then he learned to fly by making short flights from each one of our family members. He would come sit and visit in a nearby tree, watching my mom hanging out the laundry. He visited like this for a few weeks and then it was time for him to just be a robin. What an experience that was!
I had a lone robin often hanging out in my yard all winter. Now that everything has melted I am seeing many more in the area. They're definitely more visible in the spring around here!
I was just swooning over one sunning in my backyard tree yesterday evening 😍😊💖 he sounded like he was trying to call others over, and then also like he was practicing his song 💖
When I was a little kid there was nothing quite like waking up on a sunny morning and hearing the robins singing in the trees outside my window. My wife also loved hearing them. There were a few years when we didn't hear them at all in the spring or summer-no idea what had happened. We were beginning to worry a bit, actually. But they seem to be making a comeback here.

Even in the coldest winter days, you can find them hanging out near spring seeps, where the ground never freezes. I believe they eat aquatic insects and larvae. Many times, I've flushed a few robins while hunting in the middle of the winter! Thanks, Lesley. Keep making these great videos!
Another great video Lesley . The Robin is the All American bird very visible confident and really at home in urban gardens . Their song is really melodious and they seem to be constantly on the go.. Your photography is really good and the colors are sharp and rich. Best wishes from Sydney Australia..
Living in Central Florida, I am so glad that the Robins stayed a little longer this year before they returned North. They really gave the resident Cardinals and Wrens a fit! Lol
I always loved the beautiful little blue Robins eggs in the nest in my aunt's front yard tree!🌳 Of course we never disturbed them, but in all my life, I've never forgotten seeing them!
I love Robins! They’re just so round and cute! They have adorable babies too. I work at a wildlife rehab center and robins and cardinals are always my favorite babies to take care of. What a lovely video with stunning pictures!
I think I heard their wee hours chorus recently one morning, but it was distant. Hopefully, they become more pronounced that I could hear them even with the windows closed as time goes on.

Love all birds especially Robins. Last year I seen an albino robin on a golf course here in Ontario. It was all one color , very light sandy brown .I took a couple pics but never got to close to it
Thank you Leslie for this video! It was very special to me. And you gave out a lot of information. I did not know all those things about the poisons they ingest. They are beautiful birds and I love them very much! Thank you again!
A member of the Thrush family. And I love their sweet songs in the early Spring. They greet the new day with such a beautiful song. The very first bird I identified as a child. Many, many moons ago.
Just today I was enjoying the mild weather we are having in Massachusetts and listening to the birds in my yard when one in particular really stood out to me and since I’m new at identifying bird songs I looked it up to confirm- yes it was a robin! 🤗 now you post this video, awesome!!
Thank God for Robins . I’ve lived in nyc all my life & finally got to see one a few years ago; we kind of both got startled to see each other ! As he was leaving a hedge for a stroll & I was lost in my thoughts admiring the landscaping .. we literally walked into each other ! LoL ! I consider myself blessed to finally see one after all these years of just pigeons & sparrows.. 🧡🧚🏻👀
Great video with so much great information. Thank you. I just spotted the first Robins returning here in Southern Ontario after a winter of not seeing them. They arrived March 20th which was the first day of spring, and it was great to see them again. They've already begun establishing places to sing and are singing beautifully.
theres a pair of robins that like picking up bits of bark butter that the other birds drop onto the ground. they’ve also nested under our deck for many years. great informative video like always!
The song of the Robin is peaceful to me. My mom always told me they were singing for rain to get the worms easier. 😂 To me, they are fun to watch. 😊 Great to see this vid and you here Lesley! 🤩
As I am watching this video, I am sitting outside eating my dinner, and I hear robins outside singing and calling, along with Cardinals, House Finches, and others. They seem to be very active during the first light of dawn, and the last light of dusk. Many times during the spring and summer, I end up getting a slightly-not-so-pleasant wake up call at 5:30AM because all the robins are out singing. Wonderful video, Lesley! One of the best birds of spring.
Yes! I’ve also enjoyed this behavior! I say that the Robins sing the Sun up and in the evening sing it down again. In both instances, Robins are found near the tops or at the tippy top of trees, so they see the first and last rays of sunshine each day. Love ‘em!
Yesterday, I heard a Cardinal singing at around 6:00 in the morning. I love how both Cardinals and Robins seem to be the first to wake up and the last ones to roost at night, especially Cardinals at bird feeders. I also love hearing the “tweet tweet” and whinny calls of Robins as I watch “Jeopardy!” on early spring nights.
I love your videos. !!! cause I love Robins 😍. In Connecticut my first sign of spring is the first Robin I see ,,,, and that was just the other day. It made me so happy to watch them in my maple tree and see the red buds of the maple tree too !!!! Spring has sprung ,,,it has been a very long winter and I am glad it’s over. 🙏😍💖. Thanks for another great video
I was on my morning walk in the woods the other day and a robin was on the side of the path throwing leave around to see if anything was under there. It was about 6 feet from me and wasn’t bothered as long as I didn’t move. When I took a step, it took a couple hops. We played this game for a few minutes until I just slowly meandered by and let it be. Must have been a good spot that it didn’t want to give up! I love robins.
My favorite fact I have learned in this video is how resilient Robins are and how adapting to the suburbs and other habitats modified by humans has made them one of the most prolific backyard birds of North America. Thanks for sharing, Lesley!

@@sheriffbirb2781 I grew up in MI, and so love the state bird. My Aunt taught me to make a wish on the first Robin I saw in spring.
The Robin's Egg has the most beautiful tealish-blue color.
Squeezey i think they have a paint colored named robin's egg bue! 😊
i get a warm nostalgic feeling when the robins come home in spring
I love it , when I have a window open at night , at 5 AM the Robins begin to wake me up talking to each other .
You should hear them on the Platte River in spring & summer. They flock the cottonwoods by the thousands. And their early morning chorus is a cacophony of bird call. No need for an alarm clock.
They arrived in New Brunswick today 😄😄
I find the morning chorus relaxing, and it sometimes puts me back to sleep. LOL
Robins are my favorite bird, their beautiful song takes me back to when I was growing up.
Robins were the first bird I ever learned to identify as a very young child and they will always be special to me. They are such sweet birds

Robin's egg blue... my favorite color! It's never officially spring until I see my first Robin of the year! Love these birds!
There's nothing like hearing the robins at dawn sitting on my deck with a cup of coffee.
My favorites are Cardinals but any birds commonly liked are sweet memories of when I lived in Minnesota.
I had a similar idea just a few days ago. I was thinking what an American experience should be, from a conservation perspective, and how so many native species should be more respected for so many reasons, including exactly the experience you mentioned. Glad you enjoy them exactly as you mentioned!
D R , Yes, their twilight song, both dawn and dusk. One of the sweetest moments of life.
Yes!!!!
I’m in Texas and I’ve been enjoying them dancing.
Didn’t realize the low mortality rate of Robins especially their young . Really good segment. 👍👌
Just got firsthand experience with it. Had a nest get wiped out last night, but there's 2 juveniles from another nest going strong.
My favorite song in the morning.
Even though they have a habit of choosing the worst places to want to build nests, Robins are still a favorite of mine. I love waking up to their songs.
Robins will build nests in the same tree bush or tree year after year. On the same branch. They have an amazing visual recall.
