Watching Baby Robins Grow Up - A Bird Documentary

  • In this video, you'll watch a pair of robins raise a family in my back yard. From building a nest, to laying three eggs in it, to watching the three babies grow up until they were able to fly away on their own... you'll witness the wonder of life, thanks to three different cameras. I placed a GoPro in the tree next to the nest, and later placed a second one on the other side of the tree for an alternate view. I also used my Canon DSLR camera with a gigantic telephoto lens attached in order to get beautiful pictures of the birds without having to get so close to them that it would have scared them. This is basically a 12-minute nature documentary recorded in my backyard.
There's a happy ending, too. Unlike a lot of bird videos on RUclips, all three of these babies survived all the way to the end of the story... in spite of being so vulnerable through it all. Lucky for them that the parents picked a very good yard to build their nest in... with no predators.
Enjoy the story and the beautiful photography... and if you enjoy it, feel free to put a link to this video on your Facebook page. Also, let RUclips know that this is a good video by clicking the thumbs-up button.

Interesting. I have robins build nexts every year on my outdoor light fixtures. I try to keep their next material away before they lay their eggs. Sometimes they win and I’ll leave them be until after they’re gone. This year I have a family next in the back door light figure. They won the battle of nerves this year. I still see the parents flying around on occasion, but I’m not hearing thee babies as much now.

Actually, robins have multiple broods during the summer. In fact, even though it has only been about a week since those three babies left the nest, the mother bird is already building a new nest in an adjacent tree. She'll probably lay eggs in it this coming week, according to what I've read about normal robin behavior.

Cool....if that is the case, hopefully you can have video of it as well.

I love the nature documentary of the robins building nests in the adjacent trees in the backyard of the house in Washington state to have their babies in the summer.❤🐤🐣🌲
Robins are one of the many species of birds.
I am glad that the three baby robins survived at the end of this video.
Well Jim Zim, I am Thomas Comeau and as always, I will see the replies from you!
Enjoy the house in Washington state, the hot tub, the vegetable garden, the G scale model train collection, and your neighbors who will help you set up your G scale model trains from Bachmann, LGB, MTH Electric Trains and Piko to run on the new, bigger, better, unique and different layouts while you use the four GoPros, the Sony Digital Audio Recorder, and the DJI Mavic Mini Two Drone!

Ooh! Three blue robin's eggs in a nest in a tree in the backyard of the house in Washington state!
Blue is the color of the robin's eggs that reminds us of the water of the Caribbean.
And blue is the same color as Thomas the Blue #1 0-6-0 E2 Tank Engine from Bachmann, the DCC version, not the analog version, the Digital Command Control G scale version of Thomas the Tank Engine from Bachmann.
This is Thomas Comeau signing off for today until next time!

A male and a female robin built a nest in one of the trees in the backyard of the house in Pasco, Washington, lay three blue robin's eggs in the nest and then they have to feed the baby robins and keep the nest from getting full of baby bird poop and finally the baby robins survived all the way to the end of this RUclips video!

That was very interesting video Jim I’m glad you did all the editing because I’ve been a lot of hours to watch it from start to finish but editing really make it shorter and much more enjoyable thank you for sharing. PS. I love watching nature of all kinds. Besides being an animal lover I love my model trains also and good luck with the new house. My wife and I bought a new house in South Carolina near North Myrtle Beach will be moving there 1 August I can’t wait. No more winters in Illinois.

Congrats on your new house in South Carolina! That's going to be really great.
I've not yet been to South Carolina, but I'd like to visit someday.
From what I've read, it sounds like one of the better places to live on the east coast.

Human parents and animal parents, all of them just clean up baby poop one way or the other.
Luckily, humans have hands and invented diapers.
Birds, they just have to use their beaks.

I watched this to see if my robins were "normal". Their eyes were closed, but they looked weak. They couldn't lift their necks like in the video. Sometimes hanf their head off the side. I worry that it was the Weed and Feed I'd put on the lawn. :( (Later a horrible thing happened: a crow ate the babies!!! Next time I will put mylar or some other protection[ and I will not use Weed and feed

Florida Governor Ron Desantis is talking about restarting Cruise ships. Do you plan to go in the near future?

    • @JimZim
      @JimZim  3 года назад +3

We've got a cruise booked (out of California) for February. We're enjoying our new house here in Washington so much that we really don't feel the need to spend a bunch of money to get away. When I was working, before I retired, I was always all about "the next vacation". I needed something to look forward to. So, we were doing three or four cruises a year. Now that I'm retired and we have this fantastic new house, I'm much happier and not itching to get away. I suspect that mostly we'll be looking to cruise during the winter months in the next few years. Of course, if some cruise line is looking for some publicity and wants to invite me onboard (at their expense) to make some videos of their ship (like Viking did a few years ago) I would definitely go and do that!
