I have found this video because I thought the OS version on the TV was telling me it was 2014 as in the year. Turns out not the case, but I am glad that you mentioned it is "sluggish" because that what I thought was making it slow. Still looking for a solution to fixing the sluggishness. Cheers Charlie
Cool I've been waiting for this fix for about a year now. Hopefully I can now display a 4K@120Hz signal at full 4:4:4 10bit with HDR and VRR on HDMI input 4 from my RTX 3070 graphics card.
Its sort of fixed, previously it I was getting a total blank screen on the 4th HDMI port, now I am getting random signal dropouts/black screen ran the HDMI cable test and TV says to replace the cable. 😐 Definitely not in the mood to blow up on a $40 on a new HDMI 2.1 cable. Were you able to get it working on your TV?
@@TechGuyCharlie Yes 4K@120hz 10bit RGB with HDR is now working reliably for me. No HDMI handshake issues when changing inputs either. However this update has definitely messed with my picture quality. Blacks levels have been improved but this has come at a cost of terrible black crush in any kind of dark scenes. Also local dimming is wreaking havoc that I have to turn it down to low to minimize distracting fluctuations in brightness. I'm still manipulating various setting to see if I can mitigate these problems but atm I'm kind of regretting updating to version 2014.
@@daviddawson3822 Unfortunately not for me. That's the one thing I can't get to work sadly. But I've always found VRR kind of buggy on my Q80T. Sometimes I can get it working for a little while but then when I play a particular game or change to a different HDMI input it breaks. However that's not a deal breaker for me as at a fixed 120Hz I usually don't seem to get any screen tearing as my gaming FPS is always lower than that on my RTX 3070 at 4K high settings. Just thankful to get 4K120 4:4:4 10bit with HDR working now even if it means missing out on VRR.
Sorry, I totally missed your reply!! BTW, I replaced my cable and now 4k 120hz with rgb 444 works fine, as for VRR, I also have it switched off, instead I have V-Sync turned on, that solved the screen tearing issues. It is strange, VRR works fine if I plug the hdmi cable in the 1st hdmi port, but then you don't get rgb 444 at 4k 120hz. Still buggy, LG has their stuff sorted out on their OLED TV, Samsung is being slow. Fingers crossed and hope the next update doesn't break it. 🙈 As for local dimming, I really wish they had added an open to switch it off, I too find it very distracting while playing games with dark scenes.

Often your TV will say that there's no update available even when there is one available on the website. That's why you check on the website, download the newest version and install it via USB. It can take your TV months (yes sadly) after an update has been released on the website, to notice it and install it on its own.

question. I noticed there are a few or more Samsung Q95T models. obviously, it has to do with a region. here is the problem. I'm working in Israel for a 3-year contract, my native language is English.. this Q95T is running on 220V just like all of European TV. is it possible to change the Region? the first firmware that was on the TV was working fine. I think it was 14.6 (not sure) and the TV kept updating itself. now I'm stuck with 2014.1. which I'm not a big fan of that firmware. and I know you can't revert back to its "original firmware" since that day that the TV 2014.1. was installed. the TV picture quality is just not the same. I ended up disconnecting the internet access to the TV. so I got 2 questions. 1 is there a Hardware difference between a UK Q95T? or Australian Q95T? those all work on 220V. they all look identical. 2 can I flash my TV firmware with either a UK file? or Australian firmware? my TV model number is model QE65Q95TATXSQ. That isn't possible, you can only install firmware that is specific to the TVs model. The TV checks before installing it, so if you have any other firmware on the USB drive, the installation will be blocked.
Charlie....I have a samsung smart tv series 70. I was watching tv this morning then all of a sudden there was a audible beeping sound while the movie was still on that wouldn't stop no matter what button I pushed on the remote. So I unplugged everything, waited a few minutes and turned the tv back on, but this time there was a blue and black icon in the center with a small red (circled) triangle next to it. My remote would not respond to anything I pushed other than the power button. It would respond to being powered off with the remote but nothing else. What can I do to get my tv back to normal. Please help.
The only way I can think of is calling someone from Samsung and have their tech check the TV. Impossible to diagnose from here. I wish RUclips had an option that would allow us to post photos in comments, I would like to see that small red circle.
What if the TV automatically turns off after about 10 seconds every time you turn it on? Is it still possible to update the firmware? I’ve already replaced both boards. I think I need a firmware update.
@@TechGuyCharlie I checked the wall outlet, but not the power cord yet. We had lightening strike nearby and it fried a bunch of appliances and electronics. I’ll check the power cord next. We’re also doing a bunch of electrical work to prevent it from happening again (hopefully), including whole house surge protectors. What a nightmare. Thanks for the advice!
Hey hopefully you see this.. Does it matter the samsung website you download it from .. I.e uk vs nz . Reason is the UK version seems to have a newer firmware vs NZ for Same TV. Samsung is showing 2101 for NZ and 2101.2 on UK site

samsung = dont buy if you want to surf the web on their browser uses safari and is out dated for lots of videos mine is ku65ku6300 last version firmware was 2016 this is 2022 so samsung is bad for firmware
@@TechGuyCharlie the only graphic cards that have HDMI 2.1 are the Nvidia 3000 series. all the rest are running on HDMI 2.0b . for me, the HDMI 2.1 was not in use. all I can say. since this new 214.1 update changed my entire picture. and even after doing a complete reset to the TV. and removing all connected HDMI cables. did not help. the funny thing. when I watch cable TV. there is no problem. but when I use my PC.(which is what I use 99%) of the time, the text seems blurry. you can see far more blooming. the picture quality for a flagship TV in my case Q95T. has not been something I wanted, and I know I'm stuck with it. I'm positive that if Samsung wanted you could do a flashback to an older version.

the TV wont even identify the firmware file on the USB, tried this on a fat32 formated usb on both TU700D and AU800D TV`s

None at all, I have it running at 4K 120hz for over a year now without any issues. Never faced any issues.

If it still turns off after 10 seconds even after replacing the boards, then check the integrity of the power cable and the plug point!

I only have access to a mac, is there a way to update via mac? the files are unsupported and I cannot unzip.

Nope! The TV cross checks the firmware for the correct model, you wont be able to update Q80a firmware on Q80t.

You cant!! As far as I know Samsung Tizen doesn't support 3rd party apps. You need an Android TV for that.
