Jay Shetty grew up thinking he would be an art director and loved design. As a teenager, he was a troublemaker. He never would have thought his life of drugs and stealing cars would turn into the life of a monk.
He made it to college and did well, but as soon as he graduated, he decided to go to India to spend three years studying how to find inner peace with monks.
After three years Jay was asked to leave the monkhood. He was told he could do more good sharing to the world than staying in the monastery.
Heartbroken, Jay left and eventually found the power of RUclips. He has gained amazing international success sharing the lessons he’s learned from his time as a monk teaching ancient wisdom on modern platforms.
You will be surprised at how much of these lessons don’t just apply to life but also to business.
He’s mastered the power of video marketing and storytelling and in this episode, he shared his insights on how to create a powerful impact with media. We discussed the lessons he learned from spending time as a monk, what motivates people to take action, and how to find your purpose in the world.

I am a first time mom. I recently quit a demanding job. My partner (my son's father) just told me he's no longer in love with me. I've been sick on and off for the past year. I am slowly emerging from post partum depression and anxiety. I became suicidal last month. BUT. Something powerful inside me made me sit still and meditate. My inner Advocate took steps to make me pause and realize where I am, how I am, and how all of it are happening at the right time. Today I am watching another video of the two of you, Jay and Lewis, and no words can express how grateful I am for your efforts in putting contents like this available for people like me to listen to and digest. 🙏❤

Greetings and Love to you and your precious little one. Your child will help you remember yourself, as you grow stronger. Your Inner Advocate is elevating you, so be ready for vitality, happiness and the manifestation of a better job. Live your best lives, and be proud you never gave up. Blessings xxx

27:44 to 30:00 is pure gold🙌. “I’m exactly where I need to be.” Often we compare our lives to others instead of appreciating our current situation/efforts that may be a blessing for our progress in the long run.

This was AMAZINGGGG!!! Omg!!! Great questions Lewis & phenomenal answers Jay. 4pages later I am FILLED!!
Take aways : Being mindful is fully about being international (NEVER thought of it that way)
The three S’s made me realize that it is VERY important to set a growing environment (Rainforest).
I always have free-wheel to create the life I desire.
Open up every door possible, let the world close whatever doors you aren’t meant to walk through & walk through the doors that are left open 🤯
#1 skill to being a good leader -> associating.
Prayer is how I talk to God & meditation is how God speaks to me.
Failure is a event not a person.
For sure picking 3 people to study after this.
I can literally go on and on. But the last question on living in purpose and living a purposeful life really blessed me.
I’m grateful for the both of you & thank you both for your time! That was an amazing interview... as always 🤍✊🏾

I love how Jay perceives questions as something positive, a way for us to grow and learn more about something rather than coming from a negative angle. Also 100% agree about the whole lashing out when our beliefs are challenged 'cause we've tied our identities to those beliefs...and if those beliefs are no longer true than it's like our very existence and who we are has been challenged. Very true about taking that leap of faith to grab that new rope, but can only be done once we let go of our existing beliefs/safety net. Thank you for much for this Jay and Lewis, much peace, love and good health to all

    MY NOTES FROM THIS PODCAST:
2:51 Mindfulness - sights, sounds, scents.
13:36 There are not only 2 or 3 options in life there are many more we just have to explore or go deep in.
17:23 conversation of Mark Zuckerberg and Narendra Modi [ruclips.net/video/HHloYymVIZQ/видео.html ]
    21:33 how stillness works/helps.
25:38 Ask yourself daily: 1 thing I love about myself. Say to yourself I am exactly where i need to be.
33:28 Don't try to use failure as a way to prove someone else wrong/to meet someone else
expectations. Failure is an event and not a person.
54:17 GOOD AND BAD SENSE OF IDENTITY:
GOOD SENSE: it surrounds you with more people like that so if i'm a podcaster i hang
out with more podcasters, we learn more about podcasting and we all become better
    podcasters.
    BAD SENSE: if i'm a podcaster i can only be a podcaster i can't write a book i can't make
a video. So our identity should be evolving and should help us to expand and grow.
55:01 SPOT STOP SWAP your negative and repeating thoughts:
SPOT the thought and ask when does that thought arrive? (in a particular place, on
    social media,etc.)
STOP thinking about it, be still and ask is this thought benefiting me?
if not SWAP that thought with a positive one
    1:05:43 4 KEYS HABITS IN A DAY [
    T.I.M.E.]
    Thankfulness (specific)
Insight (leave a book open for more reading)
    Meditation (Minimum 5 min daily)
    Exercise (no explanation... Necessary).

These videos are made to feel upbeat or “inspiring”.
people mess around when they’re younger and don’t build any tangible skills among the market so they end up making money through discussing fixing your mindset, feelings, and lifestyle because this is what they’re doing. they just talk about thoughts and ask thought provoking things that make you rethink your programing.
These are the high paying jobs for teachers we’re watching and as they say if you can’t do, teach. Like this guy said he was a sleazy criminal and now he does this. Dean Grazioski or whatever his name is was a used car salesman. Once they found out they can make money off the secret that’s all they worked on 😄
What would be nice to achieve in your life? what was a good moment? What would you do for free? These questions will help you find purpose. If your life feels empty then “give freely” help without expectations of reciprocity do good things and don’t tell people. Do healthy things that make your light grow ya know?!!?!
