  • Today, I talk to Vishen Lakhiani. Vishen is an author and entrepreneur in the ed-tech space. He is the founder of Mindvalley, an education technology company building a new model for human education that aims to give everyone the same quality of life. Mindvalley creates tech and platforms that power online academies in areas that traditional education ignores. These include mindfulness, personal growth, wellness, spirituality and more. His quest is to help move humanity to a more holistic, integrated education system that caters for the whole being.
Vishen, joining us again for another soulful conversation, strongly believes that compassion is what gives us real and genuine happiness. As he explains why compassion is the foundation to achieving all things positive in our life, how self compassion reinforces self love which leads to self care, and the disciplines we must practice so we can attain genuine happiness. We also dive into the definition of sadness, changing our perspective to turn sadness into love and compassion, and the importance of having a vision of the future, of having a clear idea of the path you want to make and take.
No matter how far and long our life goals may be, self compassion and being compassionate towards others will eventually lead to having a peaceful, content, and well-meaning life.
    What We Discuss:
    00:00:00 Intro
00:03:31 What was your first meditation experience?
00:06:53 How do you use meditation in your life?
00:13:18 Compassion is something you do for yourself
00:18:48 When did we lose compassion?
00:22:03 Compassion as a technique and a quality of being
    00:24:08 What is happiness?
00:28:40 Channeling sadness into love and compassion
00:29:53 How do you stop sadness from turning into guilt?
00:33:45 How to avoid having narcissistic tendencies
00:35:34 Have a vision for the future
00:42:21 Don’t get held back by old things
00:47:46 What defines a good meditation?
00:50:02 Testing the parameters of your destiny

This is financial advice and I never give financial advice: DONT LEAVE DURING THE BEAR. If you don’t want to invest…learn. If you don’t want to learn…build. If you don’t want to build observe. DO SOMETHING…other than leave. There is so much opportunity here. Take advantage!

I have never left a comment before but I just felt compelled to show support. As soon as the conversation started to flow I experienced a surge of emotion and tears fell as I felt in every cell the truth of what I was hearing. Thank you, for inspiring me today and lifting my vision. I was told by a past friend that I was not a meditator, the impact on me was so deep, I was confused by that, but in this moment the truth of who I am and who I have always been flooded my mind, body and spirit. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And God was Good to me Everyday”

The Waitress and coffee story example, based on compassion is the most beautiful illustration i have heard in ages aside the obvious Biblical Jesus character, that is still not an easy trait to achieve as it not something we are all born with though its trainable from different mind techniques, well, thanks for inviting Mindvalley and thank you for the entire broadcast....👏

Life hit me pretty hard. I'm actually coming up with a resource that helped me become the man I am today. I used to live in Miami being around street violence, guns, death, and I even lived in L.A and I used to eat $3 a day, 25 cents noodles, expired toast and canned campbell tomato soup. I survived the Boston Marathon Bombing which was a few feet away where I saw all the blood the people screaming and I was alone at 18. I also used to live in a room with no kitchen, trash bag as a window and bugs crawling on me at night. Bu then I took on boxing to protect myself and learned how to defend myself against bigger threats. I learned to change my whole mindset and to be comfortable in the silent chaos by literally studying my pain. Now I live in a cabin in the north of Sweden where I go down to a lake to breathe and heal my past and I post on RUclips to help others who need it the most 💜🙏🏽 You can visit my channel by clicking on my icon if you want, I would love your feedback

    1. Kindness and Compassion: Who did I help today?
    2. Gratitude: What was something that truly made me feel alive today?
    3. Forgiveness: What have I come to learn?
    4. Vision for the future: What is a new vision/ a new desire that I want to bring into my life today?
    5. Commanding your perfect day: What was my favorite part of the day?
    6. Blessing: Did I truly feel connected to a Higher Power? Did I feel that the Universe had my back today?

I was listening to my daily affirmation videos and this video started playing (youtube is on autoplay). From the moment the conversation started, my intuition told me to keep listening to this and I did just that. I am glad that I did because everything that you and Vishen talked about resonated with me. I have been meditating yet I still feel and feel like I have no purpose in life. But I think the universe wanted me to come across this video to remind me to keep going. I am on the right path and to be consistent. I am so glad I came across this video.

I agree and appreciate, meditate on all that what you two great souls exchanged, except one statement, “Mohammed wanted to CONCUR and spread Islam” is a very wrong statement.( please study little more about Mohammed)

I meet Vishen with the book The Code Of The Extraordinary Mind. Now, a year after reading it, I come across this video and Jay, and all the advices, all the knowledge from these guys is so powerful, so enriching.
I just want to thank you for trying to make the world a little better, with more conscious people.
Pd: The analogy mentioned, where our professions our jobs are the vehicle to grow to the life I want made me cry with happines. Thank you so mucho for that.

Everyone that reads this remember that happiness is equal to or greater than your perception of events in your life - your expectations on how life should behave. Therefore in times when we are not feeling that bliss and joy is because our reality is not matching up with our expectations of how life should behave. So if we come from a place of constantly rembering that we can change our limitng beliefs and be from a place of not expecting life to behave how we should want it and be more in a flow state. That doesn’t mean you can’t set goals but when it gets difficult don’t beat yourself up and realise it’s only perceived hard because we have the expectation it should be easy so by dropping that expectation we realise that we are infinite. When you read this and if you do, it might be confusing or it might not, but come from a place of no expectation. You might get to a point where you say “ I can’t let go of expectation”, at this point realise your expecting life to be in a way that letting go of expectation is easy, let go of that and you realise how easy it actually is. Namaste to you all. And a great conversation for the podcast. While listening I was aware that my expectations were hindering me from listening openely so I lowered my expectations and allowed myself to be present with the flow of conversation which in turn led to insights such as how the sixth phase can help me even though I feel happy all ready from no expectations. Namaste all and joy is key
