- Marines explain the endurance course, a grueling culminating event that builds upon the skills the learned at the Jungle Warfare Training Center in Camp Gonsalves, Okinawa, Japan.
Camp Gonsalves is a U.S. Marines jungle warfare training area, established 1958, located in Northern Okinawa.

That looks grueling but awesome at the same time
Yeah.
SycoSight took that training in '98! The pig slurry was the worst part and caring you heaviest man down that hill (that is a slick mud trail) and taking him to the Finish line!
SycoSight it's not awesome once you do it.
Awesome to look at. Not so awesome to do.
@@Snot_Rockets are you kidding me?! It was awesome. It sucked but in that good way.
Graduated Jungle Warfare School in 1962 , we were wet for 18 days straight. The second day into the course one of the Sargent's , the heaviest, twisted his knee and we had to carry him using a make shift streacher. I can actually say it was fun. Semper Fi
Sgt. Richard A. Valdés USMC 1961-1965
Thanks for your service Sir!
Just enlisted
I really want to experience jungle trianing
I've tried to explain the absolute hell that carrying a downed man in jungle terrain was to some friends and unless you've done its hard to grasp. Jungle warfare school made me develop an even higher level of respect for my grandfather who fought in Vietnam. I'd rather do a third deployment to Afghanistan for double the time than one to any jungle even with modern equipment. Much respect off to you guys for it.
Cpl Cole Harvey USMC 2010-2014
@@panzer_luftwaffle4988 how's it going in peace time now? I got out before all the changes that have happened went on. Been curious about it.
All I can say is, thanks for doing this for our country.
Herr Richtig What kind of drugs are you smoking?
O.G Autistler and thank them for killing child children in Syria etc
O.G Autistler I’m sorry but I don’t really understand what you are trying to say
@@mrsavedadaynotnohoe2399 Thank Obama
the marines are for pussies
I went through this when I was stationed in Okinawa from 1984-1987. Pretty much looks the same as then. Repelling was always my favorite!!
Im glad someone yelled "KEEP YOUR RIFLE OUT OF THE WATER"
PIERCESTORM PRODUCTIONS what will happen? Will it get jammed?
Brian Mitchell LOOK AT THAT FUCKING WATER AND LOOK HOW MUCH OF IT THERE IS, NO GUN WILL BE FIRING IN THAT FUCKING SHIT
Brian Mitchell not all guns can fire underwater, first of all, second, you don't own me mr. KIM JONG UN. Thridly, did you see the color of that water? Did you hear how he said it was the most disgusting water he ever saw? Did you?
CodFlew The rubber is still fired from a chemical reaction, so that does not make it not a gun. The rubber just replaces copper or lead in this scenario, unless its one of those airsoft rifles
PIERCESTORM PRODUCTIONS ok for everybody arguing you're all wrong is cause guns are heavy and it's a work out for them to lift them so this gets them used to carrying heavy guns while aiming
I fainted in exercise class today. It's hard to get up when you're 60 pounds overweight. Good job, guys!
The greatest duty station I ever served. Almost 2 years at JDUB and I miss it still
Stephen H I did that course in 2013 in August. The endurance course was one of the hardest things I did. I do have to say though, some of the best training I ever got.
Is the Training center only accessable to Marines or can Navy SEALs apply as well?
@@Charles-nc4zjwhen i did it we had 4 Air Force dudes with us so i’m sure other branches can do it
Blackshirt.
Hats off to the veterans who took Okinawa without all these obstacles and training.
Go to a Tough Mudder event to get a lighter hearted experience like this....there's Babes there too....
Harry Kuheim been there done that
That shit is too easy lol
Michael Perugini ...lol...shut up!
Michael Perugini ok go on to the army then see how it is god damm no respect

The US Armed Forces used to have a Jungle Operation Training Center in Panama, located on the former Fort Sherman on the Atlantic Side of the Panama Canal Zone. Currently, the former base is abandoned since the american military left the base in 1999 due to the Treaty of the Canal signed in 1977, which stated that all of the former Panama Canal Zone (including military bases) would be reverted to the Panamanian Government before December 1999.
Went there as well with Kilo Co 3/6 Marines 1984
AiirSource, can you do more videos like this one with the interviews and whatnot? It is very fascinating.

CMDR Francis Brutto I know right
I was a POG fortunate enough to have trained here in '89 with Bravo 1/2. They were good to me and I'm extremely proud to have trained with them. The mud was NO JOKE!
Semper Fidelis...
:-)
From Brussels, with Love...
NTA is a tough environment, JWTC is no joke, but it was some of the best training I received. Infantry Rifleman USMC 2006-2011.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt... then ripped my sleeves off to use as TP. Gotta love the peanut butter mud.
I spent four years WESTPAC , Third Recon , Onna Point Okinowa 1971-75 with a tour in Vietnam in there , we just about lived in NTA ( Northern Training Area ) while on The Rock , went on Float with 3/4 and 1/9 and we did jungle training on Mindoro in The Philippines too with Cold Weather. Training in Korea and Mount Fuji Japan. Semper Fi. SSGT David. Baker 1970-1979.
NTA,LOVED IT! 1978 9th Marines, then went to Korea to train with ROK Marines at their mountain warfare school. Then on to 2nd Mar.Div. Semper Fi
That PFC has a pretty salty low reg and a hell of a field stache to be a boot.
Marc Noon he was njpd for beating up the air force gate guards in Korea. He was in for 4 years by this time. He’s my good buddy lol.
terminal pfc
Good to go..
I said he had to have been NJP’d … because that the hallmark of salt dog there.
@@therealFIGJAMS fuck ya I was looking for this comment
Hell yeah did this in 2002, was with Force Lima 3/3 in 2004. Great company!!!
My great grandpa died 2 years ago he was a soldier. He fought in ww2 I WANT TO BE JUST LIKE HIM I WILL BE A MARINE AND SERVE THIS NATION.
Same but it was my uncle my dream to
Buddie, the training is the only thing that matters at this point. He actually died for something worth fighting for, and our generation dies for corporations and politicians
Thank you for your services all I can say thank you for doing this for the country and yeah
That's awesome! These military action heroes were really look like real-life LVN Action Heroes!
Thank you all for your service
An instructor told us, "Never open your eyes when you're under the water". First thing I did was open my eyes under water. I was asking my buddy to check my eyes for little creatures burrowing into my eyeballs on the hour every hour for the whole week we were there. ( If you ever read this post), thanks Peace, I appreciated it. Lcpl Adams USMC 1986-1990
Read Eugene Sledge's book, "With the Old Breed" to learn about his jungle warfare experience in Okinawa in WWII. Unreal. Semper Fi
My grandpa did a tour in Vietnam one of his buddy's got the silver star award and saved my grandpas life and thank god he did because my grandpa is one of the best men ever
British Army have a JWTC as well. I'd love to train with the US soldiers here for sure looks fun and very educational
we need to train more together was USMC 96-01 myself
1:14 that carry handle lol
It makes the rifle shoot in cursive
i want to be a marine and with this video it just makes me learn more when i try to become a marine and it makes me want to complete the course
Curious, did you ever end up joining?
I went through JWTC back in 2002...we were hating life...lol!
I dont belive you
13,999,999 views ....which part? you right, it might of been 2001? 🤔😂
Michael Reyes I just dont belive you ever joined the US military, i think u made that whole thing up...
it's cool. ..you don't have to...lol
Michael Reyes Can I ask u some questions, then I will belive u...
As someone who loves rain. That jungle looks beautiful
I guess too that you know you only have a specific amount of time you are there in that training whereas those men in war did not know how long they were there. Time would have been infinitely excruciating. Much respect to all soldiers. Thanks guys and gals.
They aren't soldiers they are marines lol
I went to jungle warfare training in Panama in the Marine Corps Fort Sherman close down now definitely better than the one in Okinawa cuz I've been to that one to nothing compares to the one that was in Panama cuz it's the rainforest
I am not military but I spent about 9 days trekking in the darien gap around the Colombian border a couple of years back......that jungle is pretty intense.....we did it in march.....slept in hammocks.... handline fished out of the rivers.....we we were about 45 km south of Boca de cupe at the headwater if the Tuira river....way down below Yaviza and the paved road.
I know you guys may think this looks tough but it's seriously a lot of fun.
i was an instructor there back in early 90s
"you're going to have casualties " wait what???
To be honest this looks so cool to experience in that environment even tho I know it’s so not easy at all
I did this course and it was a blast
That’s looks like a blast tbh I can’t wait to sigh up!
I'd be yelling THEY'RE IN THE TREES!
'Nam flashbacks intensifies
I went through the course in the Army in 1998 in Panama. Fort Sherman. Lots of mud, swimming, and a 12 mile road march to the San Lorenzo Fortress. 50 cal. ants and snakes.
the muddy water part looks fun too me because i love to swim in muddy creeks, rivers, and swamps
Was there in 89-90 for 3 or 4 days. We got out before a typhoon came through.
My grandpa fought in veitnam and he got the Purple Heart award cause he got wounded and shot in the shoulder blade and he is still alive today and he tells me story's about being there and what it is like
Got my Jungle Warfare Patch back in Jan 1983 at Ft. Sherman, Panama.
Brutal trainings! I respect the marines.
It was called J.E.S.T. when I did it , some of the most grueling environment I’ve ever been in....but how the world is evolving , probably some of the most useful....
It must’ve rained for 2 weeks straight while we were there , before, during and afterwards. It was just pure miserable , but you really bond and learn to lean on squad mates for support in times when you just wanna freaking quit !!
1/3 Wpns Co Lava Dogs
My grandpa was in the us army infantry in Vietnam did 1 tour and did a patrol through the jungle everyday
I remember doing this in 2005, fun times bro.
good ol JWTC ill never forget my "hardass" corporal nearly in tears before having to rappell down the wall lmao. Good times
This is what I'm really looking forward to when I enlist
just came back from JWTC yesterday
immersion foot for daaayzzzzz
What the fuck do you mean casualties it's a training course
SURREAL Studios nope
Okay that could have been more explicitly explained
I'm probably wrong but i think casualties can also refer to people that are injured to a point where they can't support themselves. I'm saying this because frequently you'll see lists such as "1000 deaths with 2500 casualties." or something. For the purpose of this training, as answered above is definitely accurate though. Simulated Casualties.
SURREAL Studios if you listen to what they go through you would understand not trying to be a smart ass
Harrison Stoliker xhdhhxjd
iv done this before I hate when someone hits the glass
Lies
THANK YOU
Sounds like lot of fun!
is it true that they have to drink snake blood?
Yes a little
Only if you want to.
why tho
Cobra Blood.....USMC 70-74....
yes
Humidity is the ultimate test of ones patience and endurance.
I've been here. And every time I started bitching about how bad my job sucked another Former Marine would call me over and pull up a few pictures from here and I would remember...Life is pretty good.
That looks fun. I want to try.
I can see the moisture in the air
It is and had aways been hard for the navy and marines
Best time I had in the Corps and I was a Winger!
Hey im leaving for boot camp soon does every marine do this training? If so this looks fun and challanging!
Awesome
There's a big difference between training and fighting. They knew they where training so it made it worse . When ur life and your fellow soldiers, your friends is on the line it makes it much easier!
Looks cold
I want to do that. but not the entire thing for a long time of course because I'm not as good as they are. but to do it for fun looks kinda cool.
1972 going thru this course our Company Commander fell down 1 of those 'hills' during a night move. Broke his leg.
Jeez, bet you're an interesting guy to speak too !
Not me but the Captain is/was.
The corpsman briefed us and said there would be 10% casualties and there was. 3 Marines fell off a cliff at night. I saw one coming from the Naval hospital and he was getting medically discharged.
Semper Fi. I hope to become a marine in the next 2 years
That looks like fun honesty.
You definitely played no sports
very well done video
my uncle is at his training school for the marines. He already past bootcamp!
When I saw he was in 3/3 I suddenly became very happy.
I wanna do this so much, seriously, I wanna do it so much
what happened to this channel they stopped uploading?
Looks like fun
Force LIMA 3/3 2000 to 2004. Been there done that, I miss my Brothers. Miserable times in the JDUB, I'd do it over again. Semper Fi Devil Dogs.
Yeah it is
Can someone tell me how you can get stationed there to under go that training I wish to become a marine sooon
Do you have to jump out of any planes or into deep water for this course?
Nice vid!
jungle warfare is the hardest and those who completed are badasses.
What Marine MOS or division operate in the jungle or wetlands the most?
Cpl knight is now SSGT knight and in snipers cool ass dude
How do soldiers make dodo during training
You take your E-Tool and shit in a hole.
I did this while stationed in US Army Fort Buckner volunteered the this training , even received a Marine Medal for the training! During the next to last day miles warfare my Army Signal team won the fight! The Marine Gunnies smoked all the Marines that whole night!
On top of the hill on 30 Mile course , on the Last day, is the pig sultry pit still on top of the hill?
I wonder if there’s one for the desert, I live in the desert and damn it’s hot asf here. If for some reason a war happens in the desert lmk
1:09 how comes their uniforms are ever clean?
That voice crack at 0:08 lmao
Good shit went through the POG course twice
Nava the beast made a video where he did this

I'm working on the amplification of light and sound for combat purposes. ..I'm talking about big perimeters,5 MILE radius, that's killer..so far I'm at thorium,a scientist from the 20th discovered if you add a layer of thorium to tungsten, the emissions multiply substantially..Lee de Forest or Irving Langmuir..don't wait for me,do your own studies, you may save lives or something. ..good luck, best wishes..
Fenton Reese hey wasup there putin
Would totally camp in this weather
I’m trying to get a recon contract for the usmc
I trained in Coronado before I went to Okinawa. I was 10 years older than everyone else but in better shape and better trained. I stayed for 6 months as navigation training officer and then went to Iraq.
damn it, doing this in 3 weeks.
TheBagOfWaffles Have fun
TheBagOfWaffles your Username makes me not wanna believe you
MarineMGySgtSoldierDude1775 would be more fitting for a TRUE Marine.
TheBagOfWaffles howd it go?
TheBagOfWaffles fuck yea
Next year Im joining National Guard. I was told you could train as a Marine through NG, but I'm still confused. If anyone could tell me if that's true or not, that would help alot. Thanks. I loved this video. Been my dream as a little girl to be a marine. And it still is.
Celine Draws No you have to join the Marines. National Guard is different.
My uncle was in the military but he died two years later after that my older brother joined and he tells me it's not fun to join but I will do this for everyone's freedom he trains me sometimes he throughs the house keys in mud and I have to get it in five minutes I will join the Military or the navy one day I always wanted to join sense I was five years old I saw a guy die on my front porch I lived in mobile homes I truly believe I can be a good USA fighter
Wait.. casualties? I heard that right? I mean, they just tag them out and just say "you're dead" right...RIGHT
