Yeah. Some of these are clear improvements but there are some with distinct passages that are just so iconic and amazing sounding. Some parts in 6969 level up come to mind. Just beats that didn't hut as hard or had enough behind them.
I absolutely LOVE the visual style of the animation, and clearly Dalton Brown is massively talented. Huge props for the hard work and effort, it looks incredible. And the new Level Up sound is very cool, really lets you hear how NSP has changed over the years. BUT. The minimalist comedy style of the original is just too tough to beat. It was like the whole thing was just a massive exaggeration of Danny Sexbang's imagination, like we were hearing the version that he hears in his head when actually everyone at the party just stares awkwardly. I'm sure there's probably some kind of fancy term for it. Lo-fi comedic juxtaposition? idk lol
The stock images and gifs in the original absolutely added to the charm, and really fit with Danny's "total confidence and extreme incompetence" character. That being said, I love how much NSP has evolved over the years, and they certainly sound better than ever; it just doesn't quite fit the silliness the first few albums were going for.

I really love the almost childlike enthusiasm this animation projects. My favorite moment is the look of absolute joy on Chibi Dan’s face during the line “you’ll be my dragon slayer wife.” The song is just funny on its own but the animation makes it super endearing.

I can't believe I'm just discovering this version now. This has always been my favorite NSP song but I thought the mix from the original didn't do it much justice. The Level Up version is definitely the mix I've wanted for years! Such a kickass hook and the backup vocals aren't too overpowering.

I always thought NSP+TWRP would make for a great animated series about time travelling ninjas who got their power from future cyborg heroes and went back in time to meet Egoraptor who was just a caveman dressed up as a dinosaur. This confirms my headcannon. Netflix should get on this!
i enjoy both. the goofy low budget live action vids are great but you are limited in what you can do. in animation its nearly limitless and you can craft something so eye pleasing it will look amazing for years to come. i would say the best song danny has covered is starlight patrol. because seriously that animation gives me nostalgia even during my first viewing... thats something that is insanely hard to do. and the team did that for a whole music video. it is a masterpiece that i think rivals even the most well invested tv shows ever produced. like if i had to choose between starlight patrol and adventure time... starlight patrol just looks way better. and adventure time had hundreds of thousands of dollars behind its every episode... and then there is the live action vids like 6969 which have fun moments but it just doesnt hit nearly as good as starlight patrol did for me

I love the Level Up stuff. But the original first two albums will always have a special place in my heart for the minimalistic greatness! I like the old style of the videos and songs even more to this day (because that's when I started listening). i love those first albums too! they did so much with the limited resources they had and it turned out awesome. i prefer them over Level Up (both are awesome though)
It's called over-production, and it unfortunately happens to most things or people when they get big. Like AVGN videos in the early days vs now. South Park's another great example - they started off simplistic, but then went up their own butt with their animation. FYI: I like all the folks I just referenced, in fact I'm a big fan of all of them. But it doesn't change the fact that more money = bloated productions. Kinda like how Microsoft Word is the most complicated program on the planet but no one asked or wanted it to be.
The animation was absolutely incredible & although I appreciate the work that went into making the "leveled up" version of this song, you can't improve on what's already perfect. The original still wins out for me.
Oh man. I saw this pop up and threw it on while I was cooking for some background audio. But the amazing animation kept me so distracted I had to pause it until I finished with the food, and then start it over from the beginning on my big TV. Absolutely outstanding. This has always been one of my favorite NSP songs, and this animation more than did it justice. This may even beat out the original music video for me; but I think I’ll have to re-watch it another dozen or more times to be sure…
Damn this is such a fantastic rehash of the already-godlike original. I love being an NSP fan, you can tell ahead of time that every new song or video will be a winner.
An absolutely amazing animation. There were so many things I loved about it. It pairs so well with the song. My favourite part though would have to be Danny's smile at 1:01. It's adorable
That's awesome, this was one of the songs that got me into NSP (alongside Attitude City) I just wish the dragon dance itself made the cut (along with Barry's unicorn costume, although I dunno how things were with him after he left Game Grumps)

Started watching these recently and I've gotta say, the songs are stupendous but noticing all the tiny details in your animation just makes me appreciate it that much more, like at 2:17 how the Pegasus is wearing sunglasses before they fly off. Or at 2:54 when you can see the mountain in the background where the dragon was supposedly fought. Keep up the awesome work, and rock on!

I knew this song was going to be a music video when I listened to the album but damn it always so good when it is animated. Thank you animators, NSP and Arin this song is great I know they won't read it but still.
I will say that while it's nice that more girls are showing interest in Danny during these songs, this song in particular shouldn't have made her interested. In the original, a lot of the humor is how try-hard Danny is being about hooking up with her, while she is clearly not interested. I feel this version lost a lot of humor because that was lacking. That and the obvious copy-pasted versions of Dan, Arin, and Barry dancing during the Dragon Dance.
@@overseerpjoe9477 I can definitely see what you mean. Some of that classic "low budget" humor isn't there. While that is the direction a lot of the original songs take, I think they both have their perks and stand on their own. After all, they are two different versions.
One of my favorite NSP songs and also...getting up there as just one of my favorite songs period. I also finally noticed the "Attitude City Bus Routes" in the background of the scene where Dan convinces Arin to wear the costume.
It’s very funny that this being a fully animated video meant you could completely reasonably have the dragon just be an actual animated dragon, but instead it’s STILL just Arin in a onsie. I love it.

The melodic phrasing and chord changes (especially towards end of the chorus) are just pure exceptional songwriting. Out of this world talent on show.

An absolutely amazing animation. There were so many things I loved about it. It pairs so well with the song. My favourite part though would have to be Danny's smile at 1:01. It's adorable
The section at at 1:35 honestly makes this the best version for me, Dan’s delivery is better imo and the fucking DRUM FILLS ARE INSANE

Started watching these recently and I've gotta say, the songs are stupendous but noticing all the tiny details in your animation just makes me appreciate it that much more, like at 2:17 how the Pegasus is wearing sunglasses before they fly off. Or at 2:54 when you can see the mountain in the background where the dragon was supposedly fought. Keep up the awesome work, and rock on!

When the original upload came out for this, I remember I was doing a sales training for some new staff, and I slipped in the line "I road up to the mountaintop that was 90 million feet in the air, and I fought through an army of karate bears"
I will always love the self-referential joke at the end of having the Manticore show up and steal the girl, even though he was, in fact, not even in this song.

The animation is breathtaking! So much praise and love for the animator(s)! I could watch a whole show of Danny and Brian in this style
I will say that while it's nice that more girls are showing interest in Danny during these songs, this song in particular shouldn't have made her interested. In the original, a lot of the humor is how try-hard Danny is being about hooking up with her, while she is clearly not interested. I feel this version lost a lot of humor because that was lacking. That and the obvious copy-pasted versions of Dan, Arin, and Barry dancing during the Dragon Dance.
@@overseerpjoe9477 I can definitely see what you mean. Some of that classic "low budget" humor isn't there. While that is the direction a lot of the original songs take, I think they both have their perks and stand on their own. After all, they are two different versions.
One of my favorite NSP songs and also...getting up there as just one of my favorite songs period.
I also finally noticed the "Attitude City Bus Routes" in the background of the scene where Dan convinces Arin to wear the costume.

I haven't listened to NSP in a good while, but it felt really nice watching through this video and singing along word for word.
That was something that I really liked about the Parents' House animation that I really liked as well. Hope this trend continues

It’s very funny that this being a fully animated video meant you could completely reasonably have the dragon just be an actual animated dragon, but instead it’s STILL just Arin in a onsie. I love it.
