If ole Jimmy did not get a smile as long as the Mississippi, then he never will after watching this EPIC TAG TEAM! Mahalo Jack & Dave for each of your Kokua, as this is priceless. 👍🏻🇺🇸👏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏼
A great song written by a great song writer that doesn't get much attention for it other than by great musicians. There are so many musicians that now have an appreciation for him even though most people think of him as a novelty that passed in the 70s. Rumor has it that Dylan sang this song once in concert. Talk about a concert that will make you forget your cares, go to see Buffett sometime.
Never been a big Buffett fan (not that I dislike him or his music) . But you just described the vibe of a Dave Matthews show. It’s no surprise that Buffet would have that feel too.
First time on stage together and they play a Jimmy Buffett song. Yes...this means you kids should look up Jimmy Buffett. Not next week, not tomorrow, not later, but NOW!
Bless this comment I hope they did. Rip Jimmy, thank you for all the memories. Dave and Jimmy its hard to say who meant more in my life but both are way up there in my book. I hope its smooth sailing up there Jimmy, but with you and Jerry Jeff there now, I just dont know. Cant wait to see yall, and thanks again yall meant a lot to a lot
Yes!! Kids please take this advice. Check out his early songs. Those are his soulful songs. He was an incredible songwriter. I'm 62 and was turned onto him when I was 18...1978. I was blown away. He left an indelible mark.
Oh no, are there really people that have to look him up to find out who he is??? Omg, born in 1957, so glad I was lucky enough to grow up in the 1960's and 70's!!
A Pirate Looks at Forty Jimmy Buffett Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall You've seen it all, you've seen it all Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam And in your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen Most of them dream, most of them dream Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late The cannons don't thunder, there's nothing to plunder I'm an over-forty victim of fate Arriving too late, arriving too late I've done a bit of smuggling, I've run my share of grass I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast Never meant to last, never meant to last And I have been drunk now for over two weeks I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks But I got stop wishing, got to go fishing, down to rock bottom again Just a few friends, just a few friends I go for younger women, lived with several a while Though I ran them away, they'd come back one day Still could manage to smile Just takes a while, just takes a while Mother, mother ocean, after all the years I've found My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown
@Eric Casolo I'm so jealous, I've been looking for a Dave/Jack concert for so many years. This festival happened a year before(graduated high school in 08) I started traveling to see them(mostly DMB) in concert, I'm so disappointed I missed out. It seems like it was such a beautiful festival.
Hi Michael, Glad I was able to capture this set. That was one of the best concerts. Perfect weather, great fans and awesome artists. Enjoy.. E Sent from my iPhone
@Eric Casolo i'm just kidding but seriously thank you for perfectly capturing everything so well. It put me in a completely different moment. I'm going to see Dave Matthews in Saratoga Springs NY on the 4th of July, I'll be sure to share my videos.
Danny, I would walk a thousand miles to be with you in a show like that. I would walk a thousand miles if you say you want to be with only me from.now on. I would walk a million miles if you say I am the one, and won't run away anymore, and you won't hurt me anymore. I would walk thousand miles to see your smile and hear your voice singing to me after we make love.
I thought that Jack Johnson would be a great children's singer (ever since I watched the movie Curious George and listened to the songs from it, which led me to this singer), but because this song is apparently about smoking weed and drinking beer, I guess not. Jack Johnson is just like a Hawaiian Bob Marley.
Can someone help me figure this out? In this video, Dave says, "grass" but in other's including a "Best of" album (ruclips.net/video/X9QT3ExltHk/видео.html), he sings "weed". Kokua website says Dave has only been a guest at the festival once (2008) and they're all wearing the same shirts....aaahh....did they play it twice in the same night? I'm so confused. Anyone? Anyone?
Kokua 2008 was played on two nights, April 19 and April 20th. I believe this is the first night, hence Jacks mention of the first time Dave and himself have played on stage together. On the 20th, MSN live streamed the event, and the word changes to "weed". See the following: ruclips.net/video/bYzfqMqmSF8/видео.html

A Pirate Looks at Forty
Jimmy Buffett
Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
And in your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of them dream, most of them dream
Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothing to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late
I've done a bit of smuggling, I've run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last
And I have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I got stop wishing, got to go fishing, down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends
I go for younger women, lived with several a while
Though I ran them away, they'd come back one day
Still could manage to smile
Just takes a while, just takes a while
Mother, mother ocean, after all the years I've found
My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown
Sweet sweet slide guitar! ... man!
Sweet tasteful and surprising
Tim is just so good
SUPERB!!!!!!!
I can smel the weed thru youtube. LoL
Wish I was here!
That was one of the best shows I have even been to!

I dk if that's good or bad. If it's not real then move on. I know it's 4 months but I'm just saying
They forgot a verse what about "I go for younger women" ???
Doing It 70's Style.

Actually, Jimmy Buffett would be that Hawaiian Bob Marley, since he wrote this song ~
Still great! 2018
why they always cut out the younger women verse?
Great taste in music. I've enjoyed your videos...I'm extremely jealous if those were your seats at all those great concerts. You need to hook me up :)

This is a Jimmy Buffet song from the 70s so the OG word is Grass lol.
Fucking epic.
is there a recording of your Keuka concert?
That chick screaming 🤣
Omg ruins it!
So Annoying!
not sure I liked that.
RIP Jimmy Buffett.
🤟
The woman that is screaming in the first few rows should have been with duct tape and led out of the concert.
