Mercedes C63 AMG vs Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio - This is the one I'd buy and why

  • Two of the most potent mid size sedans within the last 5 years. We’re going to go over the base specs and then of course, analyze both designs. I’m going to let you know which one I personally would buy and you be the judge if I’m right or wrong.
    In the red corner: Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio:
    Powered by a Ferrari derived twin-turbocharged V-6 with 505hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, this Italian beauty packs some punch. 0-60mp is completed in a blistering 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 191mph. Base price - $73,500
    In the blue corner: Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Sedan:
    Mercedes slaps two more cylinders in their engine with this twin-turbocharged V-8 but it’s stable contains two horses less than the Alfa with 503 hp. However you get more torque with the V8 at 516 lb-ft of it on demand. 0-60 mph is almost identical at 3.7 seconds and the top speed is 180 mph. Base price for the C63 sedan is the same as the Alfa at $73,500.

    Alfa is definitively underrated. The Giulia is the best driver-focused midsize sport sedan. It looks gorgeous, it handles amazing, it sound good... Plus, if you can find some early models, you can have it with a manual. I would chose the Alfa (even in the base trims) not only over the Merc, but over every other midsize sedan.

      There is literally no Alfa Romeo in existence that suffers design conflict of other new gen vehicles to look like blobs on wheels. There's something in it's inverted triangle grille that doesn't let the rest of the car to go off balance in design.

      Looks and sound is subjective. To me, Alfa is ugly as heck, even back in the 80s they were ugly, interior is poorly designed and put together, reliable is why Alfa can't sell and always will suffer. The only reason the Guila made a big splash as because Ferrari helped with the motor. NOT any longer though. I drove this, the C63s, M5, and E63s before I decided that hands down, the Alfa was at the bottom and ended up with my w212 E63s.

    Alfa is a standout. Not just in design, also in the driving experience. It stands out from the germans.
    Sadly Alfa badge has a bad reliability reputation and doesn't have the blingy tech gizmos of germans and nicer materials which is what most people want in this segment.

The Alfa looks better resolved with more complexity the Alfa actually looks visually better quality. As a final note, I wish to mention as a Lancia fan, hoping to see a return in this segment for this once-great marque like the Dedra and Prisma we need more Italian competition in this segment, and only the Italian marques can compete with the German trio which quite frankly has become so boring predictable dominant please Stellantis group give us a Lancia revival and shake things up!

    I’d opt for the c63 it looks more organic to me. Don’t get me wrong the Alfa is a work of art, however I just feel like the grill clashes too much with the design, I know it’s traditional, but I feel like they could have been integrated more strategically, such as having a smaller shield , and maybe a lower grill, nevertheless it’s still a great design . However if I were to go for the 2020 c63, it would have to be the coupe only because of the rear taillights, also I don’t plan on having anymore then one additional person in my car.

    I think most recent Mercedes cars are too "smooth" or undefined in the rear, they lack muscle and confidence.
    And I've noticed that I don't like cars where the rear lights have not influenced the form af the body, like they might aswell be a sticker. Many mercs and VW's do this, looks really boring and static.

    A Ferrari derived engine means you'll pay a Ferrari service and maintenance price tag bill. And the questionable build quality. There's a video here on AutoTopNL channel where he was trying to VMax it on autobahn and he had to slow down because of the build quality. The car felt like it was breaking down in pieces

    • @rlsedition

    • @rlsedition

      @@OSINT_Skye Your opinion. Many of the most depreciating cars are the high-performance German vehicles. Quality builds? Germany does well there and leaves any design passion on the sidewalk. Have you even driven a current Alfa? I didn't think so.
      The Giulia exterior is better looking than any of the German brands, even at some 6 years old. Good design is timeless. Audi has arguably the best German designs, followed by Mercedes and lastly, BMW. Most current BMW sedans are ghastly to look at.

    • @DonViToCRLNE
      @DonViToCRLNE 2 года назад

      Never seen so much BS. First of all show us AutoTopNLs Video because i know all of them. Then the engine was made with a former engineer of Ferrari Gianluca Pivetti, its not a Ferrari engine and Giulias service & maintenance costs are a lot lower than german brands (i can guarantee that for germany and maybe europe). A headline of one of many german car magazines ,, Alfa Giulia ein sehr, sehr gutes Auto" or ,,Alfa Romeo Stelvio, so geht Premium!" translate this and then tell us. I recommend to inform better about cars reliability. Europeans are all bad equal, the most reliable are japanese, accept it.

    • @rlsedition
      @rlsedition 2 года назад

      @@DonViToCRLNE What BS? I'd never heard of AutoTopNL, probably because it's focused on the European customer. The team that created the Giulia/Stelvio was comprised of many Ferrari engineers, but I didn't say the QV engine was a Ferrari powerplant, nor does Alfa in their promotional literature.
      I don't contest that the Japanese and Koreans "own" vehicle build quality and reliability, but that's not my major criteria when I make an automotive purchase; if it was I'd buy a Corolla. Right now there's not one Asian vehicle I have any interest in, partly as I don't care for their design executions, the other is their cars don't incite any passion.
