I stayed at the Wellness Center for a week and really enjoyed it! Dan and Leonor are exceptional host. Dan has the most amazing stories about his travels from around the world, and he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to natural healing. Leonor is a world class chef, trained at the Shangri-La and prepared delicious healthy and tasty recipes for my gluten sensitive and sugar free diet. Thanks for a wonderful time, and next time I am in Dumaguete I will see you up in Valencia!
***** Wow, small world, eh? Thanks for that. We have to do a better video of his place (which is only an excuse to go up there and hang out again) as I wasn't used to the camera. We are hoping that Leonor and Dan are going to do some sort of culinary shindig up there with the space that they have available.
I met Dan in Cebu City where we did some business a couple of years ago. Seemed a nice guy and always wondered what his place was like. Now I know! Great spot and well set-up. Thanks very much for the video.
"Wow" is about the best we can come up with. Wonderful place and you can tell this guy is very smart too. Great video, even though no turtles to be found!
This is MY kind of things right here. Thanks for this video. I will be up there myself soon. Anything "Wellness" gets my attention. This also just expands your thinking (as least for me) as to the possibilities available to those wishing to make a life here. Dan seems like a cool, guy, very open.
Absolute beauty, Thanks to all for sharing..I have been subscribed for a while now..but just got (a round tuit)..have viewed about five videos, and loving all your dedication to your site, the Philippines and all the wonderful info you have given us..Maraming Salamat from North Carolina, USA
And I'm Zen Dan's Youngest Son, I Don't Think I Was There When You Were Recording. Maybe I Was In Bacong That Time But Right Now Im 10 Years Old And He's Giving You A Tour In My House. Atleast In A Few Years
wow., lovely place., yet another destination to add to my bucket list for Philippines........ Im starting to wonder if I should carry round on my back, a cooling unit coz while cold is of little matter to me not including my injuries so my back, shoulder, elbow and knee say., but its the heat that gets to me........., so heres praying that I can aclimatize quickly
Now that place and location in the cooler mountains of Valencia could almost change my mind about moving there to live. Could you reveal to us how much he paid for the nearly 2 hectors? How much more would similar property be worth today to buy? The location and the views are worth it, but I would be happy with a small and private home there. I liked the greenhouse style kitchen the most . Thanks for showing and sharing.
Loved the video, interesting place I'd like to visit. Really like the look around and part interview with Dan, hope to hear more about him. Good stuff mate, made me wish I was there :) Regards Wayne.
Nice! A lot of thought and effort went into the design and building of his place. It must have taken them a while to get it to it's present state. Lovely spot and interesting people. How did you happen to meet him?
Looks simple, sustainable and inexpensive but stylish and practical. I like what he did the the bamboo celling and the plank floors. Has a very 'homy' and secure feel. I have a few questions and some friends in the Amazon who might be interested in his bamboo construction: 1, Does he have Internet access there, and if so what sort of service is it? 2, What sort of 'natural' terminate treatment did he use? 3, Are bamboo mats, doors and components available for export? Thanks
I also noticed on the top floor level or the third floor, Dan had a triangular shape wall walls holding the roof attached to the vertical wall which act and function as a shear wall. That design is employed by building designers in modern worlds like USA, Japan& etc. to counter the collapse of structures in times of earthquake. shearwalls are building components that provide added strength an building stability.
The bad thing about it for you 2 who lives in the philippines maybe not have the money to live there all the year, unless you could get it for a more favorable price. I guess it doesn't need to be exactly that place just as comfortable with the nice weather and surroundings. BUT make sure there isn't too many roosters around. I know you can get used to it but, well I would think it sometimes must be irritating.
I have not been there to see the Pyramid house but have seen it in the video as Dan was presenting it during the house tour. It certainly has a unique detailed design construction and what is amazing about it Dan uses all local materials and stands in three stories high. In pursuing the design and building this structure, Dan has the knowledge and know how about the use of mechanics of structures in building the 3-story pyramid house. Although, the roof is light because its made up of nipa leaves, bamboo floors yet this house or structure has a humongous square footage. Good engineering. My only concern here is will the structure withstand and average typhoon which has a 40 mph wind speed?
Wow that is a huge investment. I've seen similar resort type investments in Issan, Thailand. The big problem is that the local Thai's or Philipinos can't afford the prices and the International Tourist market is far away in the bigger cities. In Thailand business owners have to pay off a lot of local officals, rural, city & regional police. The costs are endless. Most resorts go broke when the expat runs out of money.
The more videos I see of Valencia the more it seems like an awesome place to live. Is travel to and from Duma rough driving at night? I know distance is short but curious about the terrain after a night out.
Glenn McGee The road up to Valencia was recently redone and is very nice. It's basically a straight shot from Robinson's Mall in Duma up to Valencia. The road is very good now.
Ned, how fast can you get the internet connection in the Philippines, and how fast is your connection download/upload? If you don't mind saying it of course.
Roberta Rodriguez I can't disclose that. He purchased it about 8 (?) years ago and got a bargain. Prices since then have been rising steadily. Dan's place is example that you can get some nice land and a nice place for very low money compared to the West.
i'm actually hunting properties and I just want to know to get ideas to which location I will have to decide in future. I tried OLX but still limited for some reasons. Anyways, I need to find out myself, I guess. Thanks.
Great video Ned. While you were there did you take any treatment for your back? I hope that you had time to try and get some relief. Also, is Valencia protected at all from the many storms that hit the Philippines? thanks, jerry
nellspop1 Our area is protected from typhoons but not against flooding. Valencia has had its share of flooding over the years as has low-lying areas of Dumaguete.
Ronnie Rodrigue Rich of spirit, I would say. I doubt Dan is wealthy by Western economic standards. He didn't pay a lot of money for his land and building labor and wood stock are VERY inexpensive here. His place would have cost many hundreds of thousands if it was built in the West, but here in the Philz, not so much.
The 1% chlorine is to stop the frogs from laying eggs and getting pollywogs. lol Had a friend do it in Florida in his pool without the small amount of Chlorine and next thing he knew he had pollywogs every where.
I told a few people about your blog on a poker forum, he is looking at moving there and I tod him your site is full of a lot of useful info. Spreading the word for you, good luck and Thanks.
Awesome place!! That's the house I like to live...all bamboo, wood and rattan.. with great view...and lots of fruit trees. Thanks for sharing.. Mel
wow amazing and beautiful!!! Dan looks pretty healthy. Definately gonna have to see Dan, thanks
Wow nice, thank you Dan for letting us have the tour, would love to use the pool some time, for healing therapy, great video Ned and michelle

Metal Guru He's an interesting guy. Tomorrow I am putting up the interview we did with him yesterday.
I look forward to it. Cheers and thanks for the great vids.
wow that is so nice Ned really you were lucky for him to show you I like that sort of place .
Wow that's great Dan, Valencia looks like the place to live in the Philippines.
"Wow" is about the best we can come up with. Wonderful place and you can tell this guy is very smart too. Great video, even though no turtles to be found!
AmishElvis1 I am 100 percent sure there are turtles on his property. Land turtles are all over the Phils - we even had one at Pink House.
Great info
WOW, great place
Looks just phenomenal! What a beautiful place to heal yourself and others.
Bodtec66 Yep. It's an amazing place.

That was really cool...Thanks Dan for sharing,,i love the mixture of building materials.very creative :)
Stu Stewart Yeah, it's a beautiful place. It would have cost a fortune to purchase similar land and build a place like that in the US.
wow., lovely place., yet another destination to add to my bucket list for Philippines........

+Jason Pearson , it's a nice and cozy place 😖

This video excites me more to go home in the Philippines and relax.
Anne Pepe It's a durn good place for doing just that.
Wow that place looked pretty cool, would love to try the wood fire cooking.

Holistic Dan seems cool 😇🙂
Nice! A lot of thought and effort went into the design and building of his place. It must have taken them a while to get it to it's present state. Lovely spot and interesting people. How did you happen to meet him?
This gentleman blows me away! What a place and he just seems so on top of everything. Not a couch potato in his later years...
377499 "Couch potato" is not a word that would describe Dan and Lorena.....
awesome

A very nice place to live, especially with the lower temperature. I would like to live there 3 months every year during the vinter time.
globe255 Yeah, we are probably going to end up someplace like this.

Thanks for the info. It would be nice if the commute was doable for Michelle's work. How much would you save on less A/C usage?
Ned, how fast can you get the internet connection in the Philippines, and how fast is your connection download/upload? If you don't mind saying it of course.
nice place.... how much is the room rental for two adults and 6 year old child? how much for six weeks?
How much did he bought for the 1.3 hectare property? Wow, amazing!
Roberta Rodriguez I can't disclose that. He purchased it about 8 (?) years ago and got a bargain. Prices since then have been rising steadily. Dan's place is example that you can get some nice land and a nice place for very low money compared to the West.

How much did he buy the land for?>
So, does the pyramid shape give it mystical powers?
Perhaps he's at the fore front of the Philippine Illuminati ;)
must be a rich of guy
