As a fat person (granted with several disabilities) I just can't wrap my head around this. I KNOW that I can't walk very far and would never put myself in a situation where going way above my abilities would possibly end me in a dire situation. If you're going to go hiking go on a trail you know you can handle. I wouldn't have let her on my horse either and it has nothing to do with weight. I'm sure that if she were really in dire need he would have summoned help. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Yeah, I put myself in a similar situation when I was 13 and rode my bike for the first time that summer. I was slim but not athletic at all. I'm overweight now but I know my limits better so those things don't happen to me anymore lol
I would never allow any random person on my horse either. And to be honest much less a fat person like that because I know she's too heavy for my horse and also can't ride either
Exactly. I’m very overweight and was on a very intense research team in college. I hiked in the hundred degree heat, up and down a ridge, for 18-21 hours a day. This clueless lady put herself in this situation.
I just can’t.. I USED to hike miles regularly. Key word USED to. I have since been diagnosed with severe Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis and cancer. My cancer is in remission but any remaining shred of fitness went out the window. I’m intelligent enough to realize my limitations as much as I would love to still hike and see the fantastic sights but I know I can’t! This woman is a joke. Who goes out and and sets out on a long hike without knowing a) where you are going, b) that you are fit enough to undertake said hike, c) not take enough water, gear, proper shoes/clothes for the trail you are taking. I’m just flabbergasted! Had I met her out on that trail I absolutely would not have allowed her hysterical crazy ass on my horse!
Also, I hike a LOT and I know what it looks like/feels like when someone is dehydrated on the trail and truly might not make it out. This didn't look like that. You get lethargic and light headed, you usually look pale, you sit down more often out of fear of passing out, and if you are alone in such a dire situation, assuming you have no cell service, when you come across another person on the trail you'd be asking them to get back to the trailhead and call 911 for you so you can get evacuated. She did none of that and rather wasted her energy on just complaining. If she was actually that scared and dehydrated, she'd be asking for real help. It really looked to me like she was just being lazy and dramatic.
As a Dubliner I’d like to add some context to the video of the women lost up at the Hellfire club trail. I’ve read a lot of the comments (which I assume are mostly from Americans) saying that being lost for hours with no water would be genuinely distressing or that someone could be lost for a week in the mountains which is a terrible emergency situation of course…but lads. This is not that. This mountain trail is first of all in the Dublin mountains (you can see the city in the background!) and the car park is about 2 mins from civilization 😂 she could have walked in a straight line and been at someone’s house in 30min! The hellfire club walk is a loop that takes between 1-2 hours to complete. Like I cannot stress enough how it is not possible to really ‘get lost’. There’s a map at the trail head and markings the whole way. Granted you could get sidetracked to the slightly longer loop but it’s still a loop!! That’s why your man is laughing when she says ‘I’ve been lost for hours with no water’ like how??? Also this is an incredibly popular walk so even if you weren’t sure of yourself there are always people up there. To the water issue…look you would be fine without water for a few hours and I promise you, Dublin does not get hot enough for heat stroke to be a worry! I’m sure when he posted the video he only ever meant for friends or fellow dubliners to see it and and who would have understood that she was been v dramatic while in fact being very safe!
No, you won't be fine without water in her situation. She was also losing water through sweat. Even an hour is enough to start to become dehydrated. 30 minutes in a straight line is a lot if she didn't know the way and was delirious due to dehydration. Of course, it's easier for everyone to assume she's stupid and she wanted to get on the horse, instead of recognizing her situation and seeing that she only wanted the water and to be shown where to go. xD
@@K-a-i. 😂 BULLARKY! WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT WATER AND FOOD FOR A WEEK OR EVEN LONGER! I personally went without food for 2 months, NO FOOD, just water and electrolytes!! Lost 50 pounds, was no longer diabetic, blood pressure was normal (130's/70's), and I felt fine!
There are a lot of people who do what the lady does. It's not just Americans. I worked at a horse sanctuary that was near a hiking trail nearby in Montana. We had a trail that sometimes neared the walking trail and was separated by a fence. People do weird things to try to get horses attention. Offering foods that were not okay, saying they were to tired claiming they had to ride to get back, and even offering money when we were doing exercise rides. And they were from all over the world. They'd get upset when we mentioned some horses were traumatized and were not trail riding horses.
Okay, but what is it that you think she's doing here? Not once does she ask the guy to let her on the horse. She's not pushy, she doesn't even approach the horse. Her distress sounds genuine. Why assume she's secretly plotting to get a free pony ride? Sounds like you're projecting something onto her.
@@mirka4285 why we're assuming that is by personal experience of having had random people act up to get onto the horse. Also by the way that she keeps saying that she cant walk anymore, means she doesnt wanna walk anymore but there are no different options (except it could be that she hopes to get a ride so that she doesnt need to walk anymore)
@@KFrost-fx7dt the guy tried to help her, he told her the way she had to walk, he didnt have anything else to help her with, what do you expect him to do more duh?
To be fair to that woman, I don’t recall ever seeing her ask for a ride. While she could have been angling to get one, we don’t know for sure that she was. Dehydration can make you do crazy things and I could easily see someone losing it like this out of frustration. It was still incredibly stupid to go on that trail unprepared, though.
Glad I wasn't the only one to feel bad. She could have been super frustrated because she lost the trail for a few hours id have to here more of the story. I've know of several incidents were people got lost on a hike and ended up wondering around for hours. A teen was actually lost for over a week alone. So yeah I can see a bad situation frustrating someone to this point even if it wasn't that serious. Kind of rude to just post for everyone to make fun of.
@@banditnmbr087 I agree. I am having several mental health problems, actually not working because of this atm, and a couple of months ago, I was rude to a person in the street when I was stressed out and embarrassed and... oh god, I am terrified of meeting her again, especially since it was in the neighborhood. Like 5 minutes after it happened, I was down in tears and called my therapist for an emergency call. I felt so ashamed of how I had behaved. Shortly after, I was actually also diagnosed with bipolar and am taking meds for it - but it doesn't... go away. if I am in a stressful situation, I could snap again for a moment. I am terrified of being film in a situation like this and have it put on the internet. that fear actually helps me keep it together sometimes 😅 like: I'm trying, man! I really am.
@@birdgvee4982I wish you the best, and mental health is NO JOKE! My mom is bipolar and it can be so difficult to live with. Not only for the person live with it but their loved ones as well. Good for you for getting the help you need and having the courage to talk openly about it!!❤
Also, with regards to the seizure video, it may actually be a good thing to record it! If the vet for example suspects epilepsy, there are a lot of different types of epilepsy and a lot of different types of seizures. Having a seizure recorded to show to your vet may greatly help them in getting to the right diagnosis. So, while it is heartbreaking to just sit and watch a loved one suffer from a seizure (my mom has epilepsy, so I know the feeling), having a seizure recorded might help your vet and, in return, help your loved one.
I’m going to agree with you! I have epilepsy as well. Recording a horse seizing and posting is a good thing. For those who have never experienced it. It’s rare in horses. As well as dangerous. People, can have their seizures controlled with medication or surgery. Horses… that’s a different story.
I got lost in the woods once and did reach my hysterical point when it started getting dark. A hunter training his dogs found me and pointed me in the right direction and I ran back to my car after thanking him and his pup.
If she was dehydrated and delirious, that could be why she was acting that way, he did a good job giving her encouragement. She should have been more prepared I agree. When I get to a certain level of dehydration I can get emotional, dramatic for me. But I usually realize the cause and know what I need to do as I do endurance events. He should not have to explain why he didn’t give her a ride
Lol sorry but no. If she haven't had water in 3 days I would agree with you but she only ran out of water a few hours ago which is no big deal at all. She 100% certainly wasn't delirious at all
@Anna Banana That varies on how much fluid she's lost due to sweat, vomiting, urination, etc. What adds to dehydration is also heat. So the hotter it is, the more likely you are to become dehydrated within hours w/o drinking water (it varies from person to person. Some people get dehydrated in as little as 2 hrs while others last longer). Heatstroke is a huge problem where I live because of it. Adding on: did she not map out the hike at all, or did she get lost off-trail??
@@rock2946 where I'm from we say "If you're thirsty it's already too late" like you should be drinking enough to never feel thirsty when you're doing outdoor activities. The worst is when your vision ups the saturation and everything becomes too bright. The first time that happened to me I puked and had to be carried back inside.
@@wioi funny how u don't even know basic medical stuff n try to say something on it. 3 hours no water in blaring heat on a hike can be VERY dangerous.
16:06 As someone with Epilepsy and a dog who also has epilepsy. Never get involved! You will potentially hurt yourself and your animals. Always keep Valium, Lorazepam or Xanax nearby to prevent a second seizure. There are treatments to help prevent, once a diagnosis has been made.
I'm not really fat, but I've definitely gotten lost before and cried to a security guard because I couldn't find my way to my hotel. Admittedly, I was in San Francisco and had just been on a 6ish hour bike ride, then ferry back, but they didn't drop us off at the right place. I'm going to just assume something like that happened, and she was overwhelmed. If I was the rider and had time, I'd let her know I couldn't let her ride my horse, but I'd stay with her and make sure she got back safely.
Yeah I’ve been there. I’d have dismounted, checked her out (I’ve got a lot of practice assessing dehydration), given her water if I had it, and walked her to her car. It’s not hard to be compassionate.
He said he had no water so couldn't offer any and he offered to stay with her and guide her to the car park just over the hill. Not sure what else you think he could have done. Or do you think he should have let her ride his young pony?? He tried compassion but she was being dramatic, walking a short trail in Ireland not the Mojave desert!
My boyfriend /hubby came across the same thing . He came across two people that were crying, no hats, no water, wrong hiking clothes, and they wanted to ride his horse back. He refused, and showed them the way out. Same thing..a young horse that he was getting some no stress mileage on. Humans are so stupid.
I would never offer a ride to a random person, even if it was the calmest biggest horse around and the person was tiny. You never know what's inside the person's head. Whether they have some previous riding experience (they can either fall or try and run away with the horse (and fall at top speed and get injured). Whether they aren't too heavy for the horse. Besides, golden rule of hiking: NEVER HIKE ALONE. Even if you are experienced hiker, anything can go wrong (even if it's 'just' your mental state) and if you are not able to get help yourself, you'll have someone to have your back. Especially if it's unfamiliar route. And NEVER forget to bring a water for exercise, unless it's a 20 minute walk around a block.
A lot of crazy people go hiking thinking it's just something easy to do without any preparation. I always carry food, water, a map, medical package, a light and a jacket as it can get really cold when you are sweaty or during the night. On day in Corsica I saw two germans emptying their bottles and grabbing water from the river. I was like "what the fuck are u doing ? Don't drink that, you re gonna be sick and dehadryted in 6 hours by 35 degrees". Gladly a source was like 2 km away so I told them to go there grab safe water. But I was soooo surprised by the lack of research they did. And Im pretty sure a lot of people do that. Every year we have like 2 or 3 deaths of people who didn't listen advices, or didn't want to get back off the mountain even if it was stormy and dangerous.
Back when I rode and owned horses, my trainer was a roper and bred amazing roping horses. Bo, the stallion I took lessons on, was an incredible horse; so well trained and great around mares and other horses, and is what taught me that not all stallions are loons. We ended up buying one of his sisters, Cowgirl. Both these horses, LOVED roping, it was amazing how much they perked up and seemed to know exactly what to do in the field, it was like a game to them and you could see it in their faces, even watching from the sidelines they loved cows and seemed impatient to get in the ring. That trainer never forced any of her horses to participate in roping, and only bred those who seemed to enjoy it, I wish all sport horse breeders were as caring about their horse's job enjoyment as that family.
the problem is there is a big difference between cows being roped every once in awhile on a ranch because they escaped or need to be separated from the herd for one reason or another and cows being roped over and over again for sport and entertainment. one is a necessity on a ranch and one is just for fun.
@@peleber9678 Having worked these rodeos---calves and cattle are rarely distressed by this. Stockholders train them to some extent and seasoned calves (those who've been to a few rodeos) often relax once roped and caught because they get into routine and know they aren't in danger.
@@bethanyjennings6365 It varies from rodeo to rodeo. All the ones I've been in use a group but single out one steer, and that steer isn't recycled for another round. He returns to his mob when his round is done and goes back to eating hay without much concern. Additionally steers can only attend a few rodeos because they quickly learn not to run.
If your horse is having a seizure be vocal and let them know you're there. My horse was screaming but once he heard we were there his seizure continued but his vocals completely changed from screaming to how he talks to humans, still panicking but far less.
It is true! Horses are very soothing and surprisingly so are cattle! There are some that graze a neighboring field and it is comforting to walk over there and see them over the fence! A herd of cattle and one horse. They spend all their time eating. The cattle wade through the pond. I know why they say "pastoral" because nothing is as peaceful. Very good for mental health! I suggest watching them graze to anyone having a worrisome day.
I have two mares and an 8 month old colt. We don’t ride them, they just get to live their lives grazing and getting groomed, then released. My favorite pastime is to sit outside and watch them.
I agree about horses and cattle being good for mental health. Chickens also have the same effect on me. Just watching them and hearing their clucks and other noises is so soothing. I don't even care about the eggs, just put me in a yard with a few chickens and I go straight to my happy place. They eat ticks, too, which is an added bonus.
Girl; marriage in six days?! Where did the time go?! Congratulations Raleigh, beyond happy for you. Thank you for being you, and providing videos like these for years. Love you tonnes!
I'm not going to lie it's so easy to panic over water even if you are fit for a trail. Im currently in 80+ miles on a 300+ mile trail with my donkey. I still sometimes panic about how my water situation is going to be at the end of the day even though I planned for it and I know I'm going to make my camp next to it. To see someone of that weight trying to do any trail, I would absolutely try my absolute darnest to help them. They are trying so hard, why bully them into not trying at all? I can last the day without water or support, they can't, but even though they can't they try. Instead of shaming them we should encourage them. People who are desperately trying to lose weight by hiking are absolutely learning from their mistakes. It's so easy to say I can do these 5 miles without realizing what you are signing up for I will help anyone on the trail that I meet, no matter what the circumstances are. Be the change you want in this world. Spread empathy. If I, a solo female backpacker with a damn donkey, can do it, so can everyone else. So I implore you. Be that change. Change that mindset. Raise up others that didn't think they could
Yeah I do think someone being fat and daring to do exercise in public seems to give people a license to mock them. If she had been slim I don't think that guy's reaction would have been to scoff and say "What the fuck". It seemed like she had heatstroke to be acting that way.
Honestly I kinda feel bad for the tourist. Yes she should have done a better job planning, but she was having a really bad day. No, it wasn't his responsibility to take care of her, but I do feel bad for her.
I also don't think it's okay how people nowadays put anything on the internet. Yeah, people are embarrassing and stupid and assholes but noone deserves their face plastered around the internet.

I see this lady and I can imagine myself in the same position, where everyone just assumes I'm stupid / out of shape / etc. Also, so what if she wasn't prepared? Yes, that stupid and possibly deadly but DO NOT act like the publics using this viral video to 'educate people to always be prepared'. Honestly. Just showing her the way and giving some encouragement should be enough. She may not have been prepared, but I still feel bad for her. Maybe the woman on the hike has a mental illness or shes struggling in some form or another that made her lose it that day. You never know. Im not saying he should let her ride his horse. Absolutely not. Only help like he did😊 However you never know how it feels unless you're in that persons shoes.
Overweight people often have some knee or hip pain that can get severe on a hike. Being lost with worsening pain can be very upsetting. We don't know if that's the case, but hopefully she learned something from this.
Furthermore, everyone loses his mind with deshydratation. Never underestilate deshydratation. I prefer carying twice the among of water that I need, than running off water.
@HollowStormy tbh I'm surprised she's not American...she sounds American. That being said, when you are out of shape, thirsty, hot and exhausted, it can be pretty horrible. But you just gotta keep going. The lady in the video should have brought more water and a map...especially in a foreign country..
He is absolutely correct in not letting her ride his horse. 1) the horse’s safety comes first. She is too overweight. 2) once you let someone on your horse you are liable for anything that happens to them.
If you are diabetic you know what you need to carry with you at all times..to go hiking without energy bars/adequate drink/electrolytes is a little like going to the bathroom without checking for something to wipe yourself with..plan for the worst

She got help. Then I guess the person who helped her had to put up with her letting off some steam? Is that all the show was? Or just walk away? But she was making him afraid to walk away by continuing to say she was lost. Isn't that a stressful situation to be in?
I’m actually fucking angry this man posted this woman on the internet. It’s literally a woman having a panic attack and he posted it for “haha stupid fat american” internet points
Firstly, congrats on getting married! That’s so exciting! Secondly, if you are not able to care for a horse or accept your own mistakes, you don’t deserve one.
I was in a similar situation to this and I let the guy ride my horse back to camp. However, the guy had a broken ankle. With the help of some bystanders we got him on. I honestly think the only time it is acceptable is if someone is injured.
What was so interesting here was that the first 2 videos are actually showing the same thing. When a person or a horse (or at least any mammal) gets too stressed, they have an emergency generator kicking in. We call that -7. All sense ist lost and we can see that both in the horse running straight into the barrier and in the woman wailing senselessly. Both had a moment where their intense stress flipped a switch to put them into pure survival mode in an instance. This is how panic attacks work and many other things beside. Both are left traumatized after this -7 event. And even though the videos of a horse going stress crazy in an arena with high activity, and a lonely woman who "realised she was going to die on that hill" before the horseman arrived look so different, it's exactly the same process. Fascinating!
Personally I think that the woman on the hike shouldn"t be blamed too mutch. We don´t know if she has mental or medical issues that make her panick that mutch. Besides, if I would get lost somewhere, i think I would also panick after several hours without water in the hot sun.
First off, CONGRADULATIONS to Raleigh for getting married soon! For the middle video.... I have a feeling Raleigh is exactly right. The women was trying to get a complete stranger to let her ride his horse... The only people who have ever ridden any of my horses through out the years has been myself or my family. It saddens me that several people i have come across think that it is their right to go up and pet or ride someone else's horse. Like no. He doesn't know you or if you have any experience with horses. That liability is to great to take on.
@HollowStormy To me, actions speak louder then words. No she didn't physically speak the words "Hey, can i ride your horse?" however it is heavily implied in how dramatic she is being...
@@HollowStormy I can appreciate your opinion and point of view. Just like you, I too have an opinion and point of view. I personally still feel the same, regardless of if she was panicking or being dramatic. She could of taken some deep breaths, found a spot to sit down and pull out her phone, using her GPS to find her way. If there was no signal, she could of stayed put and waited for someone to come by and did exactly what ended up happening. She was led to where she needed to go so she wouldn't be lost any longer. As far as your opinion of me feeling crappy about my own life goes, I actually am doing just fine. So your opinion, while valid because everyone is entitled to their opinion, is irrelevant until you step into my shoes and see first hand how tings are going.
As someone who rides westerns and was at an abusive barn this year i was NOT aware about the back sintch mind you a judge at my last competition came up to me and educated me. Props to the judge, long story short i will NEVER go back to that barn for allowing me to put my horse in discomfort and not even educating me.
I absolutely agree with your point on the trail situation. I would never let a stranger ride my horse. And him having to justify why he wasn't going to let her ride his horse is completely unnecessary. We shouldn't need to justify ourselves to people if we're doing what's right for our horses. That man was very responsible when it came down to his horse and I absolutely admire him for that.
My horse is a retired roping horse and the first video just shows the horrendous stuff she had gone through. Her past has left a scar on her. LITERALLY!
From the video it doesn’t appear that the woman asked to ride the horse and may genuinely not have been trying to urge the guy to offer the horse, regardless of whether or not she wanted to ride the horse back. It sounds like, from the guy’s response video, that it was the *comments section* that was blaming him for not just offering the horse up.
I have met tourists on a mountain trail. They said they are lost and want to go back to the city. I said ‘Stop going up. The city is down the mountain. Any downhill trail is going to the city.’
When my Dog had her first Seizure, my vet actually asked me to get one on video, it can definitely help to diagnose the seizure. With Sophie they know the seizures are not caused by Epilepsy, but by small brain tumors scattered about. But she's elderly, and there are no surgeries that would help her without killing her at this point. So she's on CBD oil which has actually greatly helped, and she's still a happy dog. She actually can feel them coming on and comes to me to be held through them, luckily she's a Chihuahua and not something big.

I agree with some of what Raleigh stated about the lost woman; however, I still felt bad for the woman as well. We don't know how long she was lost on the trail and she ran out of water. Yes it was poor planning on her part and hopefully she will learn from this experience.
On the LOST women’s behave. She did say she RAN OUT OF WATER, because she had been lost! She could have been wondering for hours. I understand she is out of shape, but have some compassion at the fact that she could have been out there for hours and dehydrated, I have had heat exhaustion and it makes every muscle cramp and I am in shape, but live in a highly humid and hot environment . She may have prepared to have water for an hour hike, but got lost. She may be weak minded, but to her it was terrifying. You should have COMPASSION FOR PEOPLE AS WELL AS ANIMALS if you are going to make fun of them. That is actually bullying! I do not agree with her getting on the horse, but call emergency services
I agree. People are laughing at her but don't know the story behind her crying. People like to bully those who cry because apparently showing emotions is bad to society.
I get panic attacks when I get lost in unfamiliar places. One time I went to the wrong airport in New York, and I started crying and hyperventilating among a huge crowd. THANK DOG it was in the era before it was "normal" for strangers to whip out their phones and record every single thing. I now fear getting lost even more. It's not like I can just switch off my anxiety when it's convenient. I would do that 24/7 if I could, lol. I can understand recording for liability purposes, but why post? At least blur her face out if you feel compelled to share your side of story on social media as a cautionary tale for hikers. And none of this negates any lack of prep on her part. Just like it was my fault for getting on that bus to the airport without double checking. Sympathy for mental/physical distress and acknowledgement of bad decisions can coexist. And yeah, don't let strangers ride your horse! All other issues aside, panic attacks do not make for good balance...
I agree... she said she HAD brought water but ran out, and it wasn't the tiny hill that was "such a problem" for her, nor was she "the epitome of laziness". You don't know how long she'd been hiking or how dehydrated she was. It was hardly a small hill, especially after miles in the sun. Judging a person harshly without knowing all of the situation is apparently another embarrassing American trait.
@@Kelly_Ben I am not sure I personally would call it an American trait. I am American and 100% disagree in not listening and knowing all the information and then bullying someone just because they are not in ideal health. I think it is a personal bias and when it is done, can show a persons true feelings.
I watched a professional eventer riding on a course for a major competition on Cross Country. His stirrup fell out and he rode with one stirrup for a majority of the course. I was telling my riding instructor about it later and I was really impressed by the way he rode. My instructor was absolutely disgusted and said that the idiot should have checked his own tack before mounting. It was a bad mistake on his part.
The guy having to justify not letting the woman ride his horse-- Imagine you have a dog and you have NOT trained your dog in such a way that it's used to letting strangers pet or interact with it. Would you trust your pupper to let a complete stranger hug them while you were out on a walk, or would you tell that person to back off? Because I had the SWEETEST german shepherd, she was beloved by her vets and the pet shop people that would groom her, but I did NOT let anyone pet her during our walks. I didn't train her to let strangers approach her like that, so even though I knew she was well behaved and non-aggressive, I never once allowed her to be in a situation that could put her or other people in danger. That's what that guy did, he knew that letting that lady on his pony would be extremely dangerous so the most he could do was to guide her back to civilization.
Thank you Raleigh for teaching me to see things and think differently about what is really going on with how people treat horses. I tend to be naive about what people talk about...but now since I have been listening to you explain things I am now seeing the big picture. Thank you. Congratulations on your wedding. Many happy years for you and your future Husband.
Thank you for partnering with horses for mental health! Also congrats on your upcoming wedding❤ I started watching your videos a couple of years ago, its crazy how time flies😆
I don't understand why people think they can hike while they are not prepared. Unless you know the trail, always have access to a paper map or some sort of trail map. I live in AZ. It's freaking hot here. On the news, almost daily, there are stories about hikers, usually tourists and visitors, who die or need rescue by helicopter during a hike. We actually have "stupid hiker laws" because of this. These people head out on a trail in the middle of the day with 1 bottle of water. When I hike, first of all, I don't hike if it's over 80°. I also take my 3 liter Camelbak of water and a very large bottle of electrolyte drink. I commend the guy for making sure the girl got off the trail safely. There's no way I would ever let a stranger ride my horse off a trail, even if I had the best horse ever.
Ok can I just point out in that one team roping video that girl in the orange shirt who tried to grab the horse as it went by gave me a heart attack she could have gotten seriously hurt
I realize that with seizures, the best thing you can do is to clear the area and make sure the animal doesn’t hit its head on anything. Otherwise, trying to restrain an animal or person during a seizure is more likely to cause injury or stress. It sucks to see an animal in pain, and people may want to intervene, but the best way to help is to make sure to clear objects in the way and stand back.
Congratulations! Don't worry about the upload schedule. Take care of you first! Also as soon as I saw the title of the video I knew it was gonna be good
Congrats so much on your marriage!! I just recently found your channel again after binging it like a year ago, love your content and the attitude you bring! Wish you nothing but the best, mazel tov!
First, I'm so happy you partnered with Horses for Mental Health!! I've noticed a difference in hubby since I got my boy. Second, that American tourist....🤦♀️ I'm with you. There's no way she would have been able to safely ride his horse. She probably would have freaked out more once she was up anyway. Third, ALWAYS double check your tack!! Oi ve...
Hey Raleigh! I have a little story for you, so to start me and my friend are in westernairs and we live in Colorado so it gets really cold so we went to the pasture it was snowing at the time. Anyway so we got our horses that we were going to ride, and the horses did not have blankets In negative degree weather the horses were shivering, and had icicles on there manes and tails. When the people feed them they throw hay bales into the pasture, the higher horses get all the food while the skinny horses do not get any food the skinny horses are shoved into a pen. There are also not any shelters in the pasture, and some of them are starved. I don’t know if we should turn them in 😟
My parents had some friends that went on a trip overseas that was going to involve a lot of walking. They spent 2 months going for long walks with backpacks to prepare.
I have always been taught that, if you encounter a person in distress on a trail regardless of the reason, help if you can or notify someone that can help. Then stay with that person until help arrives. What may seem like irrational behavior might be the beginnings if a stroke.
I'm overweight, but i can go on several mile long hikes. I'm careful which paths i choose and either don't stray far from my car or bring plenty of water and snacks. I literally just walked almost 8 miles the other day at a local theme park, and the last almost mile, i carried my 3 year old, 40-pound son on my back. I'm trying to get fit in increments
When my friend first got her horse it was a very scared mare very nervous and my friend and her horse just bonded so well since then that Haylie adapted her and helped her get used to stuff (: !Her horses name is Bella and she's so sweet
Those rodeos are just horrible. Why are they still a thing? Poor horses, poor cows. As for the crazy American woman on a walk…love how the Irish guy dealt with her. All praise to you Raleigh. And blessings for your wedding 💖
Im so glad you reacted to the rope video i submitted! Your face was exactly like how i imagined it would be! Seeing that video of young Raleigh was adorable but the mid-puberty voice gave severe flash back cringe. Though I dont think i ever grew out of that voice!
The lost woman is clearly tired and panicking, so I believe we can forgive her for not thinking straight. A good thing that kind man showed her the way! And that he did what was right for the horse.
You are going to be such an absolutely STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL RADIANT bride Raleigh! God bless you, your soon-to-be husband, and your marriage! Remember marriage is not the finale, it’s the BEGINNING of getting to know and love each other more and more every day! Congratulations to you both! SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!! 😁 😇✝️🙏🏻🕊️❤️
To clarify, as someone who used to live near that walk (or trail, if you can call it that) it’s a hour and a half/ 2 hours very tops for the longest set route and about 4 maybe 5 kms, I used to ride the bridleways near regularly To the people saying dehydration could have been the cause for her dramatic behaviour, I agree that while it could have been... If she wasn’t able to prepare herself for a well marked/tourist hotspot/signposted footpath and fetch more than one bottle of water she shouldn’t be walking out alone - it’s common sense - this is why our fell rescue are spread so thinly because of unprepared idiots like this.
I was riding my young horse on the trail one day after a heavy rainstorm a few days before which washed out about 6 inches of earth. Suddenly my horse stopped dead for no reason. No reason, until I looked down and saw that the smooth dirt was only a slight covering of dirt over a very large tangled mass if barbed wire! I had trained the horse that hip meant stop dead and do not move so I kept saying hip until my sister and friends dismounted and very carefully lifted each of my horse's legs and placed them on two planks they found and placed next to him and atop the wire. We then walked off. One of the scarier times u had on horseback. Thank goodness for a super smart horse who absolutely knew there was a problem and stopped to let his hu-mom and friends solve it. (This was on a county trail so we called and they discovered several rolls of barbed wire, broken pieces of metal and wood nails and other debris that had apparently been dumped 20 to 30 years ago
Same here! Im not planning to be a veterinarian but I was definitely inspired by Raleigh to study to be an animal nurse (unsure what the term is in english but thats what its called here)
My son just got to spend the summer learning from one of the best trainers in Oregon. He came home & saw me watching one of your videos & said "Oooh, that horse has a *major* PIS problem..." I looked at him surprised and I asked him what a 'piss problem' was, & he said "P.I.S. Person in Saddle". Makes total sense. Thought you would get a kick out of that. Watch out for them PIS Problems with horses!! Fortunately, it's highly treatable. Just remove the rider & *tada!* the horse is fixed!!
Lasso person, I always used the lasso with a simple easy-clip as a lead attached to my horses halter. Course Nickers was a dream, he only ever spooked once in his life and that was on a trail when a baby bunny literally came out of a hole between his front feet on the trail that neither of us could see. The person behind us said we levitated up into the air about 4 feet, to the left about 6 feet, and straight back down! LOL! I just remember coming down with the middle of my left thigh on my saddle horn. I had a bruise from knee to waist for about a month. Doctor said I bruised the bone. But I stayed in the saddle and Neither of us were hurt. Course we were in the middle of open flats with nothing but weeds, grass, a narrow trail, and apparently baby bunnies.... Which it was even the wrong time of year for....
I once put my foot in the stirrup to mount only to have the loose saddle slide so that I ended up on my butt on the ground with numerous people laughing at me. It taught me to ALWAYS CHECK MY EQUIPMENT!!! :)
Tbh righley, you don't know the lady on the hike. She might have health issues or mental health issues. Like sure she was responcible for going on a hike but maybe she didn't know that the hike was as intensive as it was for her. (I have lung desease and can do certain things, but sometimes you just can't know how hard something is) but ofc the guy want responcible about her. :)
Hey Raleigh, my email is not working rn but earlier when I was scrolling on yt shorts I found this channel called a2 rotha, every single video that they have posted have been abusive. I know you might not see this but maybe if you do you could do a video on that channel.
RWoman, I’ve been married twice (1988 & 2000) and I completely understand why you might be feeling as you are! Stay strong & you’ll be able to run if you need to … though it you love your partner, you’ll learn a lot from your marriage, however long it lasts!! Much love & respect, Maria Laurel Wailes Reay della AQUITAINE
with regards to the American tourist on the hike, the hike is in a place called ‘The Hellfire Club’ and is located in Dublin, it is one of the most popular hike spots in Dublin. For her to be lost for hours is a complete lie. there are two hikes one 4km and the other 5km (not very long at all) which would take 1 hour to complete the full way! lol
Thank you for your insight. I actually expected it to be something like that: An average distance to walk (for a hiking area) but she didn't want to. Part of me suspects she went there precisely to pretend to be in dire need of help, just so she gets to ride a horse... Wouldn't be the first time I see such audacity anyway.
@@Managable_Mayhem I don't know-- she never asked to ride his horse, and when I was in Ireland, there were lots of places where you could ride a horse no mater how inexperienced you were. They weren't that expensive, either. I just think she was panicking because she was in an unfamiliar country and may have had some other issues going on.
oooo yesss. Once i went trail riding WITH my teacher and this mother asked me if her daugjter could ride my horse. OBVSly i said no cuz 1. jus no and 2. it wasnt even my horse. Then the mom got supperr mad at me telling me than im mean and cant sympathize with people who cant afford horses etcetc. eventually my teacher helped me but i still felt a bit embarrassed even tho i had NO reason to be. When i look back im sure that if i were riding alone i prolly would have let her just cuz i felt like i HAD to but NO. nobody can tell u what to do with ur horse and u can ALWAYS decline, even if ur just not feeling like doing it or ur lazy
I over the water in Scotland and I couldn't believe it when I seen the original video. I was waiting on mountain rescue coming for her 😂
I’m from Longford and I know in Longford it’s cold the majority of the time
Hellfire Club like Stranger Things or am I just a dumb American?
Ugh it really upsets me when people just see horses as some kind of machine or attraction for their use...this must be annoying to deal with
Okay, but what is it that you think she's doing here? Not once does she ask the guy to let her on the horse. She's not pushy, she doesn't even approach the horse. Her distress sounds genuine. Why assume she's secretly plotting to get a free pony ride? Sounds like you're projecting something onto her.
Thos lady did absolutely nothing wrong at all. She was disoriented and panicked and the asshole guy just didn't want to help her. Hope he rots.
Also, how is it nowadays ok to film people when they have a bad day and post it on the Internet.
@@Karo_van_borderland pretty awful
Yeah I totally understand that except there is a COMPLETE DIFFERENCE between RECORDING and POSTING
@@TiffanySwafford-qh9nk Absolutely, I agree with you on that. If you only record it to post online for sympathy or clout, that's NOT okay.
@@TiffanySwafford-qh9nk posting for educational purposes is fine
@@Julesjabberwockymama this obviously was not for educational purposes as they didn’t add anything but emojis
I’m going to agree with you! I have epilepsy as well. Recording a horse seizing and posting is a good thing. For those who have never experienced it. It’s rare in horses. As well as dangerous. People, can have their seizures controlled with medication or surgery. Horses… that’s a different story.
If you don't have the capacity to care for yourself you certainly can't care for anyone else or an animal.
You talking about the fat woman?
This is true. Rn I’m fat and personally I’m not going to ride until I’ve developed better habitats and lost some weight.
So true
This is great couldn't have said it better
@@VeinInthings im going through this rn lol
She 100% certainly wasn't delirious at all
Depends on weather and sweat rate. Renal function. So many unknowns

I'm only vloging the lead up not the wedding itself, that's private. But I will be showing my dress etc.
I wonder what the cows thought about the situation and if they loved it as much.
the problem is there is a big difference between cows being roped every once in awhile on a ranch because they escaped or need to be separated from the herd for one reason or another and cows being roped over and over again for sport and entertainment. one is a necessity on a ranch and one is just for fun.
@@rachelesser6898 I'm not familiar with how competitive roping works. Do they use the same calf or group of calves for every round?

I suggest watching them graze to anyone having a worrisome day.
im lucky to be able to spend once a week with some horses, just chilling
I have two mares and an 8 month old colt. We don’t ride them, they just get to live their lives grazing and getting groomed, then released. My favorite pastime is to sit outside and watch them.
I agree about horses and cattle being good for mental health. Chickens also have the same effect on me. Just watching them and hearing their clucks and other noises is so soothing. I don't even care about the eggs, just put me in a yard with a few chickens and I go straight to my happy place. They eat ticks, too, which is an added bonus.
@@lizbecker1677 I couldn’t agree more. I LOVE my chickens. The eggs are a great bonus, but I love having them around.

It's so easy to say I can do these 5 miles without realizing what you are signing up for
I will help anyone on the trail that I meet, no matter what the circumstances are. Be the change you want in this world. Spread empathy. If I, a solo female backpacker with a damn donkey, can do it, so can everyone else. So I implore you. Be that change. Change that mindset. Raise up others that didn't think they could
But then you couldn’t post a video mocking the “dumb fat american tourist” 🙄
Yeah I do think someone being fat and daring to do exercise in public seems to give people a license to mock them. If she had been slim I don't think that guy's reaction would have been to scoff and say "What the fuck". It seemed like she had heatstroke to be acting that way.

Yes, that stupid and possibly deadly but DO NOT act like the publics using this viral video to 'educate people to always be prepared'. Most people just want like to join in the hating on a person they deem as stupid, fat, or whatever. The internet always needs to step 5 feet back and reflect before they react.
@@JoJo-is-the-name just because you made a stupid decision doesn't mean you deserve to be shamed by millions of people. I am seriously afraid that some day, I have a bad day and someone decides to film me. This needs to stop.
@@HollowStormyracist isn’t the right word, but yeah he definitely posted this to mock “stupid fat americansl
@@HollowStormy American isn’t a race. You’re thinking of xenophobia
@HollowStormy tbh I'm surprised she's not American...she sounds American.
She may have been experiencing a medical emergency. Like hypoglycemia. People having a hypoglycemic event will often behave strongly and with anxiety.
I was thinking that also.
If you are diabetic you know what you need to carry with you at all times..to go hiking without energy bars/adequate drink/electrolytes is a little like going to the bathroom without checking for something to wipe yourself with..plan for the worst
@@evabetlyon2693 I have reactive hypoglycemia. Other than having my service canine, there is literally nothing I can do about. However yes, it’s always wise to be as prepared as you can be.

In defense of the woman, she was distressed and a lot of us do stupid things when we are upset. We tend to forget that we too, are animals that sometimes just freak out and need help.
❤ I love this comment really made me smile I needed to see this today. thankyou 😍 so good to see others understand.
We are beautiful complex yet simple and diverse animals.✌️✨
he also in the video is video'ing himself, her and he is laughing a bit. I think its highly inappropriate to be recording her.
She is a grown woman, stop making excuses for stupid entitled behaviour
My horse had a seizure once was terrifying.
Actually turned out to be a liver problem that was sorted easily so she’s been perfect since ❤
Firstly, congrats on getting married!
Fr tho. Nobody is riding my horse
I wouldn’t let a random person ride my horse that I just happen to meet in public, whether if you’re within the 20% range or not.
Personally I think that the woman on the hike shouldn"t be blamed too mutch. We don´t know if she has mental or medical issues that make her panick that mutch. Besides, if I would get lost somewhere, i think I would also panick after several hours without water in the hot sun.
It’s not his responsibility to carry somebody who’s overweight for his horse because she didn’t properly plan
Thanks for partnering with Horses For Mental Health and sharing their contact info. I have so much admiration for these type of facilities and maybe I could give them a donation from time to time. Your segments in today's videos were great and I'm always learning from what you point out. Sending good thoughts for a memorable wedding. CONGRATULATONS! Of course your busy and that you keep on sharing anyway is all anyone could expect of you and more.
You’ll never be able to care for something else if you don’t care for yourself first
I agree with some of what Raleigh stated about the lost woman; however, I still felt bad for the woman as well. We don't know how long she was lost on the trail and she ran out of water. Yes it was poor planning on her part and hopefully she will learn from this experience.
She was one small hill away from the carpark. No this responsibility to take care of an adult woman freaking out.
@@crazyhairsinger yes, I don't agree on shaming the woman. She doesn't deserved to be bullied BY THE WHOLE INTERNET.
Horses have been extremely helpful to me in my mental health journey, even just being at a stable listening to horses eat or walk around is super calming and therapeutic to me❤ I love seeing how people are starting to realize how amazing horses can be for both our physical and mental health!
Wow!!!! What if she did get on his horse and got thrown off? The young man had every right to say no.
Wishing you every happiness on your special day ❤
Stay hydrated, love horses and work hard
Congratulations! Don't worry about the upload schedule. Take care of you first!

I don’t know if we should turn them in 😟
6 DAYS???!!! Don't worry about posting rn, take your time, relax. You deserve it

Damn I gotta wait that long
My parents had some friends that went on a trip overseas that was going to involve a lot of walking.
No way would I put a stranger on my horse. Literally ANYTHING could happen, and I would be held liable. Nope, not happening…to me or my horse.
Girl why did you make us wait for so long
I'm overweight, but i can go on several mile long hikes. I'm careful which paths i choose and either don't stray far from my car or bring plenty of water and snacks. I literally just walked almost 8 miles the other day at a local theme park, and the last almost mile, i carried my 3 year old, 40-pound son on my back. I'm trying to get fit in increments

To clarify, as someone who used to live near that walk (or trail, if you can call it that) it’s a hour and a half/ 2 hours very tops for the longest set route and about 4 maybe 5 kms, I used to ride the bridleways near regularly
To the people saying dehydration could have been the cause for her dramatic behaviour, I agree that while it could have been... If she wasn’t able to prepare herself for a well marked/tourist hotspot/signposted footpath and fetch more than one bottle of water she shouldn’t be walking out alone - it’s common sense - this is why our fell rescue are spread so thinly because of unprepared idiots like this.
Alright I'm plus size and would never do something that I couldn't handle why do people not think through or plan ahead??????
All I can say is THANK YOU for advocating for the horses (and cows).
Oh my goodness that trail lady was wild! I'm so glad you're covering it! Also congratulations on your wedding!
Congratulations I'm so excited for you
Same here! Im not planning to be a veterinarian but I was definitely inspired by Raleigh to study to be an animal nurse (unsure what the term is in english but thats what its called here)

with regards to the American tourist on the hike, the hike is in a place called ‘The Hellfire Club’ and is located in Dublin, it is one of the most popular hike spots in Dublin.
