    I'm a Jacksoille native, My Mom was in radio at the time Skynerd was starting. I was around them as a kid but didn't realize who they were. I just knew they were music people and I really didn't realize that I was fortunate to be around a prolific group of musicians. Southern Rock has more or less passed ìn music today but there are a few tribute bands that keep the music alive. Thanks for the review. It means a lot to me to see the rest of the world appreciate their body of work. Those guys were not really given the notoriety of the music business and seeing this to me is vindication that they truly were great...

    Great deep cut track.
    A couple of weeks ago an era finally ended. We lost the last remaining original member and a co-founder of the band, guitarist Gary Rossington, known for his smooth and soulful slide guitar work and note bends who added that signature textured sound that Lynyrd Skynyrd is known for. He survived both the car crash that gave birth to the song "That Smell" and then a year later was one of the survivors of the infamous plane crash that killed a few members of the band and crew.
    RIP to All the OG members of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

    • @hbitsorg2275
      @hbitsorg2275 3 месяца назад

      TECNICALLY Artimis is still alive but revisionist history makes everyone say no OG members are alive. Gary was the co-founder for sure, but Artimus replaced Bob Burns in 1974/75 and played with the OG band and MOST of the music you heard on the last 3 skynyrd albums as well One More From the Road (the OG bands only live album at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA) is Artimus Pyle. But yea, Gary was an AMAZING influence on many a guitar player and he will be sorely missed.

    • @artsilva
      @artsilva 3 месяца назад

      @@hbitsorg2275 You can say the same thing about Ed King who actually was the creator of many of the opening riffs on many big hits they had. Again I was referring to that original founding core that got the ball rolling before they added on key replacements and/or additions. I guess one can split the pre-plane-crash era as the Founding group and the popular Recording/Touring group.

    • @hbitsorg2275

    • @hbitsorg2275
      @hbitsorg2275 3 месяца назад

      @@artsilva I agree with you. I think for me one big issue is that the modern ''Lynyrd Skynyrd'' which really consist of NONE of the OG band members, combined with the fact that they continuously act as if Ricky Medlocke was with Skynyrd in their heyday, and completely ignore the existence of Artimus Pyle is interesting to say the least. But yep, Ed King doesn't get enough love for sure, nor does Al Kooper who basically MADE Skynyrd

  • @hwrdwlls

    I had heard this song only once before. Definitely one of their best. Goes back to their Southern blues roots. You can hear the mournful slide guitar at the end, Gary Rossington used it to produce some sound affects on a lot of songs. Incidentally he was the last founding member of LS who just passed away March 5th

    I've been watching your reaction videos for a pretty long time now and I knew the first time I heard you react to Skynyrd that you'd like them. Here we are, pretty deep into their catalog and I don't think I recall one yet that you guys haven't liked. I think Asia's right that this band basically epitomized that genre. There's other great southern rock bands. The Allman Bros, Molly Hatchet, Blacksnake, The Outlaws, etc, but there was definitely something about this band that set them apart as the `poster children` for Southern Rock. I think Ronnie had a lot to do with that.

    Wow a Skynyrd song I haven't heard. It sounds very close to their inception in style and very raw and rootsy. Upon the advent of FM radio bands like this and others who had great long songs "Stairway to Heaven", "Roundabout", "Freebird" etc. got their due finally. I remember CHUM FM in Toronto would feature entire albums non-stop on Wednesday evenings. Every new album that came out you could sample there before buying.

    This is my all time favorite songs from Skynard! Also, it is wonderful to know that this music that I grew up with in the seventies is still some of the most meaningful (at least for me) even still today! It was a time that was much more simple and easier going than it is today. In those days music was great in all genres! ZZ Top, the Commodores, Willie Nelson, it goes on and on. It was a time that women were cherished more and were treated with respect. I'm very Happy that younger folks are loving this music and enjoying it like were did. I raised all of my daughter's on it and they still love it today! What's funny is my grandchildren love and they range from college to preschool. Anyway, that's my two cents! I also want to say that I really enjoy watching y'all and I watch your old reactions as well as the new one's! Y'all are a Hoot! Go Texas!

    There is no bad Lynyrd Skynyrd song, there never will be another Southern Rock band of this magnitude. This song is truly a masterpiece of vocal and guitar work blending together! God Bless The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band they are rocking it out in Heaven❤❤

    You two definitely need to watch "I'll Never Forget You" Gary Rossington" (R.I.P.) said they finally got it right, & it's the 95% Exact to being the absolute Truth. If you are a Skynyrd fan it's a much watch. Also I've never seen anyone react to 3 Skynyrd songs "TRUST" "AM I LOSING" AND "DOUBLE TROUBLE" I'm not sure why no one has ever reacted to these 3 songs or even "THE RAIL ROAD SONG" these songs really represent the band talent & diversity
    Much Love ❤️ for all you two do. I'm disabled for me yall make my day regardless of what you react to, I enjoy the chemistry between you two

    Gary wasn't using a wah pedal on this song. Back then pretty much the only pedal he used was called a "phaser" and he used it most famously on Tuesday's Gone and Call Me The Breeze. He was more than likely using an amp called a Peavey Mace. They were SUPER LOUD amps with 4 twelve inch speakers CRANKED and that's how that get that "distorted" sound is when all the sound and air is trying to move through the speaker but it can't handle it and it creates that magical raunchy sound that we call "rock". Gary was the absolute man. If you want to hear an ACTUAL wah pedal in a Skynyrd song check out The Needle and the Spoon. It has a couple of GREAT solos by Allen Collins where he for SURE uses the wah pedal to pay homage to his hero Eric Clapton. I hope you see this and it helps you out!
