Hello, I could not connect to the Tello Gadget Plus and it disppears from the wifi list after timeout error in the mi home app. I connected Via MainLand China Im using Samsung S8. Any Help would be appreciated. ?
I'm not certain if there is a danish language available. But, "if there is", try that next. P.S. The Mainland China setting, was often used in earlier Mi versions when people were having problems conecting. However, the latest version of the app, has much better country options now.
@@GarryPurcell Hey, I managed to find the problem / I retried in the same way you did but I reset my Tello Password and went to default / Now it works as expected and blue LED is on in repeater. Thanks a lot. Much Appreciated.... BTW, have you done any test with this wifi repeater, does it flies more than 30 Metres ?
@@abdulhazeeb Glad you got the Mi App working. And Yes the repeater goes well beyound 30 metres. I did a video testing a Gamesir T1S and got out to 80 metres with no dropouts, I then went up to 30 metres max height, and had my first weak signal message. I haven't done a range test, but the video I made below, would indicate I could go out over 100 metres if I wanted to. Thank you so very much Garry! This is the ONLY video i found that explains how to set up the Mi Repeater for the Tello. I tried so many times before viewing it to get everything to work, being told by the app that connection had failed, when in fact it hadn't, as Garry explains.
Great vid mate!! Out of all the people posting "How To" on this repeater your version worked! The step by step was clear. Others NOT adding the tid bits of ignoring prompts, etc. Might I suggest also placing your Tello on a small fan while performing this. They do get real hot and shut down if not running. It is a real production getting this set up.
Can the WiFi Extender be powered by something other than a powerbank? I just dont want to buy a powerbank in order to use it only for one purpose. Maybe i can buy some kind of cable that can power it through my phone? Also, if i buy any powerbank, will the extender work? I mean powerbanks have different energy output. Does it matter or the extender has a built-in protection? Great tutorial btw and also sry 4 my english. (Not my native languege)
Android phones draw power from whatever their attached to, so powering the range extender via cable, won't work. Powerbanks are quite inexpensive, and can also be used to charge your phone, after you have flown the Tello.
Thanks for the video. I had to find an old version of the app online in order to connect though. The current app refuses to connect to unsecure networks (like drones).
most people dont know about that wifi but its super good, But when xiaomi did its last update in 2020 year end, it was taken out of the xioami home app for some reason i just dont No??
Please help. I connected my tello to the mi2 and it loses signal at like 2meters away from extender and phone indoors.. have not tried outside as just got my tello today.. Thanks in advance
Maybe from being indoors? Lotsa wifi and devices that might disturb it.. if I connect straight to the tello it works perfectly. But the video quality is so bad and like a time lapse. Maybe the low light? The tello gave many vps warnings and low ambient light.. and had to fly it "manually" a few times as vps failed. Ill try outside tomorrow in a field with the extender.. and see.. Is there a way to set auto return to home if loses signal? I have TelloFPV and Tellome apps.. have been using tello fpv
The best flying conditions for the Tello outdoors, is NO Wind, and good light. Tello doesn't have GPS. P.S. A third part Android App called "TelloFPV" does have a sort of return to home function, (I'm not convinced it works as expected.) I believe the creator of this app has a demo app with limited features, so you test it out, before you buy it.
@@GarryPurcell Thanks so kindly. I did use that app yesterday... and today I did the first outdoor flight... it didn't go well... the ind was pretty strong and once I got to 20m at one point it just flew off away from me.. tried to recover and hit return home. nada.. I managed to find it after along time searching and using the last frame of the video as a reference.,also somehow I have a screenshot of the tello disconnected and the controller. I dunno in the heat of the moment if I took that but it helped kinda it kinda worked as i happened to find the wifi and connect to it but still didn't know the position... it couldn't launch as it was on the slope of the roof... Eventually I found it after a huge climbing mission...is there any way to override the launch and turn it on even when its leaned or such? Does the tellofpv on android work better? it seems limited on ios... there is no VGPS etc. Maybe i can post the video somewhere of it flying off,,, you gents might be able to identify the issue,,, I was using my2 repeater and it seemed to work so great.. Also on our Small holding where i'm flying its surrounded by complexes and houses and 5g towers pretty close. Will this affect it alot? Also what to do once one loses signal? kinda screwed? so it cant fly back alone or i dunno just hold spot or such? or maybe the geo fence is gonna help me alot too? But in all fairness I think a huge gust came through... the wind today on my weather station at 3m height showed 30kmh in the gusts... Thanks for the video you made and everything.
@@Derickandlannyfpv You were Lucky the wind didn't blow the Tello further away. You can hand launch, and Hand Catch the little quad easily. If flying outdoors, choose VERY CALM Days to fly, and don't fly too high, as the wind increases as you go up.
There are several things wrong with this video! Firstly you can't have the drone on all the time as shown or it will overheat and shut off if there is no airflow. Also he used a different paid app called aTelloPilot that I never heard of but it costs $5.00. Why do we need that? And why do we need to run yet another app from Xiaomi to connect to the extender? Why can't we just connect the Wi-Fi and have it work?
There is Nothing wrong with the video. It seems you want to use a range extender, for the stock app that does not support it. P.S. Overheating only occurs if you have the quad turned on for a long extended time, and as you saw, mine didn't shut down. So you are willing to buy a range extender, but not pay $5 for an app to use it?
@@GarryPurcell The drone overheats and shuts off in just a couple minutes unless there is a fan blowing on it, even shorter if the Tello app is running.
@@stevec5000 It doesn't take long to set up the Xiaomi Mi WiFi Extender 2 to be automatically recognised by your smartphone. Then you switch on your Quad and its App to complete the pairing for the first time, so you should not have an overheating problem. I know I didn't, while making the video.

Yes, as long as it has a USB port.

Total fail here. No matter whether I set up as in China or US tello isn't there and the repeater and tello never find each other.
Try uninstalling the app, then reboot, and try again.
