Hello from Mexico... Great vids....I have been flying a tello for 3 months and everythong was ok....Yesterday began to fly erratically...going up and down and trying to land... appears a caution message " The Position Visual not working..land ". Suggest you try the repeater and put it half way between you and the drone. It is a repeater as others have said, not a booster (although it clearly does boost the signal over the original setup without it).
Yes that would help if you wish to get the greatest range possible. But as noted, the repeater also has a built-in amplifier to boost the signal. For simplicity, you can just pop the repeater in your pocket to boost the signal to improve the video reception as seen here ruclips.net/video/0CLcbU90njE/видео.html
It’s amazing to own a Mavic that’s a couple years old and still nothing touches it. lol. Can out of box fly miles away and it never even blinks. Best money I ever spent.
One lame question, please. I have the Repeater working with my Eachine windmill. It's great but overkill for this little indoor drone. I get a strange toilet bowl effect if I fly near the Repeater. With repeater the video is great. I will just save a little and get a Tello. I wanted one, to begin with, should have just got it. Ok question is what part of the Repeater is the front and which way do the antennas face. What do you think they look like inside?
That I can't explain. There should be no toilet bowl effect as it is not a GPS controlled drone. TBE is normally only seen in GPS drones that need a compass calibration conducted.
Cool video. Techncially, you would only be able to see the signal that you were getting from the extender as only the extender knows the range and reception of the drone.
Quadricopter 101 may I please ask you a question? Today I was flying my drone this particular drone with an X 9p and it was flying perfectly fine about 10 meters above me when all of a sudden it started to go straight up without any stick input. Of course I pulled the stick down but it had no effect and then it went off to the right and slammed into a tree. I have no idea what would have caused this it was flying perfectly before this and it was calibrated before the flight. It was like somebody else had control of the Drone. After that I flew my Mavic mini for the rest of the afternoon and I had zero problems with that drone. If you've ever heard of anything like this I would really appreciate your input. Thank you
That sounds like return to home was activated. On return to home, the drone first climbs to about 20 meters, then flies back and lands where it took off from. If there's an object higher than 20 meters along that flight, it may hit it. Return to home can be activated by hitting the return button on the controller, if signal is lost from the controller, or if the battery power is getting low. That being said, I had issues with the return to home feature of the X9 Heron dronen ruclips.net/video/ZYwRlodmM90/видео.html

Hey there sir, what is the "Mobizen" app you are referring to on accident? 1:41 I couldn't find a recording application called "Mobizen" or any other spelling of it in the App Store? Am I spelling it incorrectly? I know you weren't meaning to bring it up but now you got us curious. :) Thanks for any help!!
It's an Android app. There may not be an iOS version for it as it may not be needed. Don't iPhones already have a built-in capability for screen video recording? Android phones do not.
Yes it would extend its range the distance that you place it away from your self. That depends if you keep flying along a line between yourself and past the repeater.
David Kirinic Did Ryze seriously think the video was good enough on the Tello. If version 1 doesn't cut it and doesn't sell in volume there might not be a version 2. The answer was built in SD card period.
Paul David Frankly, i never quite understand what Ryze is thinking. They could hv got themselves a winner, but then they went and deliberately handicapped the drone.
Instead of a SD card, think that a better option would have been a built-in memory chip. After the flight, simply plug in the drone via USB cable or use WiFi to download the video to your phone or computer.
Actually if I would have placed the extender halfway across the field, it may well have been able to go twice the distance of the field. I'm going to have to try that in a future video.
Mine is no longer in production. But just about any portable phone power bank with USB port will work with this. The problem with ordering one from China is that you'll likely need to install rechargeable batteries into the bank as China can no longer ship power banks to the USA with batteries installed. If you live in the USA, would instead recommend purchasing a power bank from Amazon instead. Here's one that should work well with the repeater amzn.to/2Rquga0
Only problem is if you like to use a real controller (bluetooth) with this it will effect the range. Only solution I've found is a third party flight app Atello Pilot with the Gamesir G3S controller from my Yuneec Breeze connected through an OTG cable. (Do not turn the controller on, which will force it to connect through OTG.) I wish Ryze would come out with a Tello 2 which included a real controller and an SD Card in the camera.
Can the Xiaomi Mi Repeater be powered by an OTG connector? I'm thinking that having the phone attached to an Xbox controller, and then the repeater plugged into the phone for a power source would make a neat little setup. Although, as others have said, for best signal strength you'd ideally have the repeater halfway between you and the drone, but this isn't really practical.
I saw a setup where they used a controller with a mount for the phone, connected via otg so not to use Bluetooth. Then you strap a powerbank with the repeater in the back with velcro straps.
No I'm not sure if it will be any good ,I am in Queensland and my WiFi will not work it cuts constantly so would it fix this problem thanks for contacting me have fun mate
He probado otros. Ningún otro ha funcionado tan bien como el Xiaomi. El Xiaomi parece ser el único que tiene un amplificador WiFi además de un circuito repetidor. Los otros no lo hacen.
Hi quadcopter101. Not sure if you already answered this question, just want to ask how come your video is shakey? I thought Tello Ryze has built-in / electronic stabilizer?
The stabilization becomes iffy as the drone's battery gets weak, or if the WiFi signal becomes weak as range increases. If the drone's power is near full, its stabilization performs much better. See the following video ruclips.net/video/0CLcbU90njE/видео.html
What I would like to know is how far can you be from the repeater then fly your drone the extended distance from the repeater rather than just standing next to the repeater... if that makes sense - piggy in the middle kinda thing
Well that's the way a repeater is meant to be used. And if you knew a specific direction that you will maintain the drone, then yes, placing the repeater down that direction could potentially double the range that you can get with the repeater alone.
Your messages concerning the eBay routers got chopped as spam due to the links. But this is the one that I reviewed in the above video. It's available on eBay UK also www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Xiaomi-WiFi-Repeater-2-300Mbps-Signal-Enhancement-Network-Wireless-Router-O0E9/152978149074
After you get the blue light, then you'll need to connect your phone to the repeater in your phone's WiFi settings. You should notice two Tello WiFi signals in your phone's WiFi settings. The signal that you should connect with your phone is the one with "Plus" at the end of its name. Please watch the following video for help ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
There is the Comfast. But it doesn't work very well. The Comfast does not have diversity antennas or the signal amplifier that the Mi repeater has. Unfortunately the Mi repeater is only for 2.4Ghz WiFi. Here is my demo of the Comfast 802.11ac repeater ruclips.net/video/a-sB_eDMf_k/видео.html
One final tip, the Tello app has an "8D flip" feature for doing acrobatics. Do not use this feature as flips are very stressful to brushed motors. I only used this feature once for my original review of the Tello. That's one reason why my motors are still running..
Quadcopter 101 . Your video seemed pretty shaky though... Was it that windy? Cos generally in slow mode my Tello stabilizes brilliantly and flies very smooth... So was just wondering. When in fast mode, even when there's no wind, it generally starts shaking, but I believe it then deactivates image stabilization...
Actually,I just remembered your previous video with the Tello review, just watched it again and saw it was also very stable... So I guess it must have just been the wind on the day then...
Quadcopter 101 thanks. While we're chatting, could I ask you another question related to your experiences with the Tello? When using it, did you ever notice, that while in slow mode, and all other factors being optimal( no wind, daylight..etc), that when taking a normal photo, that the screen starts shaking immediately after as if the image stabilization had stopped? This happens with mine... I then have to switch the drone off and on, and the shaking is gone... If I'm lucky I can take 1 or 2 photos, but generally by the 3rd, it gets shaky again... I've tested and retested.. Definitely not the wind... Anyway, just wondering whether you've had a similar experience.... Thanks for the videos, fyi your video on the Mjx bugs 2 was the one that convinced me to get one a while back :). Cheers from South Africa. Oliver.
Great range test of the Mi repeater, and the results were impressive. I will purchase using your amazon link. Just one question, I know how you connected it to your phone, but how did you connect the repeater to the drone?
i tried to use the repeater , could not get the tello plus network on my iphone just got the repeater network . when i try to connect my iphone to the repeater , the tello will not connect , ideas?...
Keep in mind that this is not using your data plan from your phone company. Instead, you're connected directly to the WiFi transmission from the quadcopter (same way as you would connect to the WiFi from your home). The video data is transmitted over this WiFi signal. No internet connection or data plan is involved. Only the free WiFi connection between the drone and your phone.
Quadcopter 101 What I mean is, is there a setting where you can turn off thr FPV? Does the FPV affect the connection between the drone and the phone? Can't you turn off FPV? Is there an option where you can turn it off? That way you can control the drone without FPV with good connection?
Here's how to set it up for the first time. You only need to do this once ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html And yes, it will work with most (but not all) 2.4Ghz WiFi drones Here's another example ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
I am going to try to use a Ubiquiti Nanostation for mine, I've tried but I guess I had bad settings and I couldn't get it to work. If it does it will probably like .75-1.3km range or so, if you have someone to point the antenna while you fly, I only get like 30 meters in my neighborhood, any further than just across the street and it gets bad :(
I kind of wish you would mention this and feet because I'm not even sure how much meters are in this why I always have to look it up on Google or ask Alexa for it
Hello bud I was just wondering if you could please help me out I have a tello drone and I have the mi Wi-Fi connected to my Samsung galaxy A5 phone and I am just having a problem getting the drone to connect to it have a blue light and I was just wondering if you could please help me out I have a gratefully appreciated it if you could please help thanks
I just got mine today in fact. I've got several drones, such as the Parrot AR Drone 2.0, for which another drone operator recommended this device. I'm presuming that you have to set up each time you change drones, correct? Having trouble doing initial setup. Should I be connected to a drone Wi-Fi first, before activating device? Mi Home app can't see the repeater even though its powered on and within a couple of feet. I subscribed, but have you done a video on how to set it up, from opening the pkg, downloading the app, and configuring the app?
Have you tried elevating the repeater?? How do these little drones go outside in the wind? As i dont own one im curious about the stability? Great vid Cheers
The stability is ok... My footages in places with wind were very shaky. The drone managed to stay in the right position with the wind, but it would be carried away and I would need to run after it 😅

Yes it would extend its range the distance that you place it away from your self. That depends if you keep flying along a line between yourself and past the repeater.
wow - phone to repeater, repeater to drone, it's not rocket science
Try placing the range extender down at the first post
Would repeater work if connected to a smartphone via OTG cable? That way you wouldn't have to carry around your powerbank. Just a thought.
What about additional latency? Repeater is pointless if it makes it sluggish.
I did not notice any difference in lag compared to not using the repeater.
What would you guess the actual improvement of the range is in terms of percentage ?
Oh, at least 100% improvement in range.
Seems that the Tello's video transmission is very bad. At 2:06, I notice the recorded screen freezed even though the drone is still very near to you.
Hopefully the v.2 will be better.
Kok Howe Loh That's the reason I returned my Tello for a refund. The video drops make this unusable for video.
It bothers me much more than it should that the icons for spinning left and right in the app are the wrong way around.
Would this work for the AR Drone 2.0? Thanks.
Yes it should.
I’m wondering if you put the tally extender farther out say about 30 yards will it work better. Since the Tello as good without it for 30 yards.
Actually if I would have placed the extender halfway across the field, it may well have been able to go twice the distance of the field. I'm going to have to try that in a future video.
Kind of makes sense.
How do we connect the repeater to the drone. Dose it get connected automatically ?
Here is how. It connects automatically after you do the initial setup shown in this video. ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
Thanks this is great. I wonder if you mounted the repeater on a tripod. I’m definitely buying one.
so your link takes us to a web site with different power source to power the wifi stick, what particular model were you using with the repeater?
Buenas tardes quisiera saber si lo probaste con otro espansor de wifi, que no sea xiaomi. Gracias saludos
He probado otros. Ningún otro ha funcionado tan bien como el Xiaomi. El Xiaomi parece ser el único que tiene un amplificador WiFi además de un circuito repetidor. Los otros no lo hacen.
@@Quadcopter101 ok muchas gracias! .
I can’t believe you’re flying that without the controller!!
Because you get much better range with less video frame dropping without the controller.
Quadcopter 101 oh yeah, that footage looks great, even with all the wind.
It's also important to upgrade the firmware of the Tello for best stabilization. I didn't update it yet in the first video.
Let's say you put the repeater close to the drones max range. I think that then it would double the range.
do you think arranging it with a parabolic thingamabob like you put on the dji antennae's will help additionally?? just a thought
Yes it should. I will have to try that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thank you sir, I just ordered one of the repeaters and a TELLO
What if you attach 2 mi wifi repeaters and have a long long range
Hey can you use. Normal dji remote for the Tello?
No you can not.
Ok you owe me a dollar for every time you said goal post.
Mate u wanna be Bill gates
ive succesfully set it up since the wifi repeater is showing blue color. but once i open the APP it doesnt recognize the drone. pls help
Very good. Is there a 5G WiFi version of the Repeater?
There is the Comfast. But it doesn't work very well. The Comfast does not have diversity antennas or the signal amplifier that the Mi repeater has. Unfortunately the Mi repeater is only for 2.4Ghz WiFi. Here is my demo of the Comfast 802.11ac repeater ruclips.net/video/a-sB_eDMf_k/видео.html
Quadcopter 101 Thanks. Thinking of using on a 5G WiFi quad like a yuneec breeze.
Does this still work?
If yes how long since you have purchased.i heard the motor gets damaged within a month.
Plz rply
I still got mine, and use it regularly. All original components. I keep mine in my glove compartment for quick use just about anywhere.
One final tip, the Tello app has an "8D flip" feature for doing acrobatics. Do not use this feature as flips are very stressful to brushed motors. I only used this feature once for my original review of the Tello. That's one reason why my motors are still running..
Hi there. Question, were you in Fast mode while filming this? Or were you in Slow mode?
Slow
Quadcopter 101 . Your video seemed pretty shaky though... Was it that windy? Cos generally in slow mode my Tello stabilizes brilliantly and flies very smooth... So was just wondering. When in fast mode, even when there's no wind, it generally starts shaking, but I believe it then deactivates image stabilization...
Actually,I just remembered your previous video with the Tello review, just watched it again and saw it was also very stable... So I guess it must have just been the wind on the day then...
Yes it was breezy that morning.
Here's how. You'll only need to do this once ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
can you use this with a controller?
Is there a bring home button on this drone?
Does it work on 5G
No it does not.
Hi, good day there. Can you give review about LH-X28GWF drone ? I buy one unit of that drone, but don't really know how to fly it.
i tried to use the repeater , could not get the tello plus network on my iphone just got the repeater network . when i try to connect my iphone to the repeater , the tello will not connect , ideas?...
This might help www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3014999-Ryze-Tello-Owner-Thread/page61#post39940736
Have you tried this with the Spark?
Hi will the MI work on a usb to c phone?
Can't you turn off the FPV so you can get a better signal? In my opinion, the FPV just eats up alot of data.
No. Unfortunately there is no way to turn off the FPV transmitter to prevent interference on 2.4Ghz.
How did you connect it to the TELLO?
Can you use the extender for anything any Wi-Fi drone?
Here's how to set it up for the first time. You only need to do this once ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
And yes, it will work with most (but not all) 2.4Ghz WiFi drones Here's another example ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
I am going to try to use a Ubiquiti Nanostation for mine, I've tried but I guess I had bad settings and I couldn't get it to work. If it does it will probably like .75-1.3km range or so, if you have someone to point the antenna while you fly, I only get like 30 meters in my neighborhood, any further than just across the street and it gets bad :(
I kind of wish you would mention this and feet because I'm not even sure how much meters are in this why I always have to look it up on Google or ask Alexa for it
100 meters is 328 feet.
Longest range? With extender
Can i added transmitter antenna on the tello ???
yes
Can it work for any drones
Any drone that uses 2.4Ghz WiFi.
Is it on Amazon?

Hello bud I was just wondering if you could please help me out I have a tello drone and I have the mi Wi-Fi connected to my Samsung galaxy A5 phone and I am just having a problem getting the drone to connect to it have a blue light and I was just wondering if you could please help me out I have a gratefully appreciated it if you could please help thanks
Does it work with jxd 528 drone????
No, the JXD 528 uses different 802.11ac WiFi which this repeater does not have.
DJI is going to upgrade the Tello Pro with an SD card on the drone, 3-axis gimbal with 4K 60 fps and Ocusync 2.0, All for $250
Thank you for your video! Very helpful
Here's how to set it up. And make sure to select "Mainland China" during initial running of the app. ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
Have you tried elevating the repeater??
How do these little drones go outside in the wind?
As i dont own one im curious about the stability?
Great vid
Cheers
The stability is ok... My footages in places with wind were very shaky. The drone managed to stay in the right position with the wind, but it would be carried away and I would need to run after it 😅
What is the max altitube you can go with that mi repeater?
100ft is the limit for the app im late to reply
Or 30 meters
Hi 101, many thanks for your videos I have purchased the Tello and the transmitter along with a power pack and the Mi repeater amplifier, my problem is tryying to sign into the Mi Home app, as you suggested I clicked on China as my home but then they needed my mobile number to send a verification code, but ti did not reco9gnize my Australian Number, any clues? cheers Ron from Oz
Try signing in with Facebook. Also be sure to use the older 5.1.1 version of the Mi Home app available here www.androidapksfree.com/apk/mihome-5-1-1-apk/ And then follow my instructions in the following video ruclips.net/video/nvK68qrv33U/видео.html
Thank you very much for nice reviewing. i want to ask that have you ever tried positioning the mi wifi extender to middle of the your flight route? Maybe you will now get x2 greater flight distance?
