All of Scots song for me are special he was the best vocalist of his generation the music was wonderful but this obscure track for me was sublime one of the most intense sad beautiful songs ever .
I've never heard this before - stunning in every possible way. This is a good time to say that Scott's lyrics seem to fit in with a very English, rather than American, mind set - they sound like gossip between neighbours relayed as a story.
This superb track was one of two per side--of a 7 inch 45rpm vinyl EP. John & Scott sharing. This particular track stood head & shoulder's above the run'of' the mill pop music of the day. It deals with a social issue that was becoming more familiar, and of course is not at all shocking today, but in the so-called swinging 60's--it still was. Great performance AND arrangement.
Great Scott. The arrangements are glorious 60s pop, but the lyrics are closer to Ken Loach and the kitchen sink dramas of that period. He was a class act. The major influence on Bowie, Jarvis Cocker, and Marc Almond.
Such a shame this was buried away on a pretty obscure EP - it's better even than a lot of the tracks on "Scott" or "Scott 2". I just feel it's been under-listened to over the years.
Utter genius. Even looks classy
He passed over today, and with him went a little bit of us. RIP Scott.
Amen!

Totally, a preface to his solo career in sound and topic of what I like to call his "tenement vignettes".
I can't believe some goon actually gave this a thumbs down, I'm sure it was a mistake.
Music doesn't get any better
