Scott Walker - My Death

- Originally from the album, Scott, but, it also appears on the 1981 compilation, Scott Walketr Sings Jacques Brel
My death is like
a swinging door
a patient girl who knows the score
whistle for her
and the passing time
My death waits like
a bible truth
at the funeral of my youth
weep loud for that
and the passing time
My death waits like
a witch at night
and surely as our love is bright
let's laugh for us
and the passing time
But whatever is behind the door
there is nothing much to do
angel or devil I don't care
for in front of that door
there is you
My death waits like
a beggar blind
who sees the world with an unlit mind
throw him a dime
for the passing time
My death waits
to allow my friends
a few good times before it ends
let's drink to that
and the passing time
My death waits in
your arms, your thighs
your cool fingers will close my eyes
let's not talk about
the passing time
But whatever is behind the door
there is nothing much to do
angel or devil I don't care
for in front of that door
there is you
My death waits
among the falling leaves
in magicians, mysterious sleeves
rabbits, dogs
and the passing times
My death waits
among the flowers
where the blackish shadow cowers
let's pick lilacs
for the passing time
My death waits in
a double bed
sails of oblivion at my head
pull up the sheets
against the passing time
But whatever is behind the door
there is nothing much to do
angel or devil I don't care
for in front of that door
there is you Видеоклипы
Rest in peace, Scott Walker ❤

❤️❤️
In my eyes he is one of the most influential and innovative musicians of all time.
I adore his crooning days in The Walker Brothers and his early solo days but its the experimental approach he took during Scott 4 and for the rest of his career afterwards.
Scott Walker just followed his own path, the avant garde approach to his work just shows how brave he was to show his genius
News of his passing was not pleasant to wake up to today, but listening to his music all day makes it so much better. Rest in peace, crazy man.
We have lost two true musical innovators within four weeks... Scott Walker and Mark Hollis of Talk Talk. Both started out as very commercial artists but both had the vision to push boundaries and both went on to create some of the most challenging, influential and innovative music of the last 40 odd years.
wow. iay, beautiful eulogy, the haunting Is Him.
Never was a voice like his, nor will there ever be! Often the cliche "otherworldly" is used rather loosely! Scott Walker had "that" voice! Thanks for all the music. You wrote the soundtrack of my youth "Great Scott!". You will be missed! Rest in peace!
And now this great man is actually gone. Rest In Peace Scott!
There is no denying the extraordinarily magnificent voice he has. Somehow, this incredible voice manages to shine through and transcend whatever he offers up to us - and we accept and forgive him everything.
Another mighty musician who was a stellar sensation in the musical firmament has passed. Heaven and the cosmos is embracing him to join infinity in the stars and the universe beyond. RIP Scott.
What a voice. RIP Scott Walker
Another great one gone. RIP Scott Walker
RIP Scott Walker. You were loved by many, and you inspired so many x x x
oh yes,,,,....so loved so regarded so wonderful ......my youth
R. I. P. Scott. You were a class act.
In the future this man will be known as a musical genius.
I agree very much with what you say
Charismaticart
he already is.
DEP
"In the future"? Dude's been known as an iconic pop genius for decades already....
This still gives me the goosebumps.....I couldn't wait to get my hands on the copy of "Scott 1" on LP...this has not/will never, date. Its timeless. RIP Scott..... NEVER FORGOTTEN
Scott's death, hit me just as hard as Bowie's!😞
❤
Thanks for all the fantastic music, Scott! 🙏🏼
❤️♾RIP♾❤️
My favourite Scott Brel cover. Genius
Brilliant interpretation of this great Brel classic....this is timeless......
A true visionary. His influence was huge. An artist that made uncompromising music. He will be missed.
I knew of the Walker Brothers…but never knew about Scott. It’s been less than two months since I discovered his amazing talent as a solo artist. My life has already been changed by his genius.
Scott Walker was brave to quit a safe career in The Walker Brothers and experiment with Jacques Brel material. An Enigmatic Genius.
Rest In Peace Sweet Prince.
goodbye to one of the greatest musical minds who ever lived. RIP
That voice.
amazing talent scott walker
RIP SCOTT WALKER
This is brilliant. Scott Walker's voice does full justice to Brel's masterpiece.
Grande voz, grande letra. Ótima canção.
This is a truly inspired matching of video to song.
Bravo!
What a beautiful song
RIP Mr Scott Walker ✨✨
RIP, Mr. Walker... this track is most interesting (enhanced by odd vintage film footage)
I've never seen or heard this version. I feel EXCEPTIONALLY lucky to have stumbled accross it. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! So evergreen, so deeply touching, so true.
I have to agree with Lady Edgar - the dancing and cinematography is artistically wonderful the dancer looks like carolyn Jones - I'd Love to see where this came from
Just stunning thank you Scott
Rest well, Scott. Hard to believe that your genius is snuffed out.
The best Voice of the sixties!!!
RIP...
What a talent this man has a gift from God
Rest in Peace.Scott Walker.
scott walker is wonderful, some men like him and leonard cohen makes the light of passion and romantism still burning in music, don't you think?
As if Ingmar Bergman had made a video of this Scott Walker recording of Jacques Brel's song about the futility of it all -- in Hollywood style. Kudos!
RIP Scott
a sombre, moving performance..fantastic.
It's a 13th-century Latin hymn which has been 'borrowed' by many composers - Holst, Mahler, Sondheim..... The best known use is probably in Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.
Scott loved Symphonie Fantastique.
RIP, goodbye Scott your music lives on
What a great track, best version of this song,
one of my favorite songs ever! this video got me thinking, wow it would be really crazy to somehow through time travel, meet someone from the 50s/60s, it would be so weird and we would probably see each other as total psychopaths.
Great post
After seeing this with three heckling silhouettes at the bottom of the screen so many times, it's very disorienting to hear Scott Walker over this.
Well done.
A true masterpiece.
Where did he get this inspiration so late in his career? Very unusual and incredible. He's been in the business for nearly 60 years.
R.I.P.
RIP, you great Singer!
RIP Scott. Great music!
Scott Engel Walker has godlike genius. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but he is undeniably great.
I guess that's what makes the world a wonderful place - we are all different and like different things! I posted this for those that love this version. Thanks for listening, you need never listen again now!
Sorry, um.. Who is this Dancing Girl from the film clip pls ?
RIP Scott Walker
Awesome Video. Thanks!
I've been searching for the right words to comment on all those infuriating ads and now your comment says it so perfectly. Much obliged, mate.
Wow, thanks very much.
Great stuff!
Who else is here because of Arkadien/ Arcadia written by Kai Meyer? ;)
Me ❤️
"My Death" was originally written and recorded by French Artist Jacques Brel (hence "Jackie) and is available on his album "Scott Walker sings Jacques Brel"
Robert Higham Jacques Brel was Belgium
brilliant combination :)
Goodbye you wonderful man!
Awesomeness.
his voice is just perfect
...the last time I played this song, was the night before David Bowie died. Heartbreak again! R.I.P.
Design for Dreaming (1956)
Thank you Mr. Ahmadinejad.
thanks :D
RIP Scott Walker.
i saw him in blackpool it was one of his first solo appearances he was magnificent!!!!!
Love this song
This was also off his first solo album, Scott, although he did translate and cover this song, which was originally by Jacques Brel.
Great performance!I've never heard this before. And seems to me,there are Portishead on a back line. ;)))
:-) Total genial!!
Stupendous
Meee! Best bookseries ever!
R. I. P❤
The irony hangs thick in the air. All that optimism and inovation against the gloriously downbeat classic Scott recording.
And the vast majority of the people in this video have met their death by now
lindo ♥
Vote for Scott Walker he's the right stuff
Eno's "Dead Finks Don't Talk" is also synchronized with this movie elsewhere on RUclips. Two of my favorite songs....hmmm.......now I might really have to see this thing!
I've never seen or heard this version. I feel EXCEPTIONALLY lucky to have stumbled accross it. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Is 'Design For Dreaming' a movie or is it only a play? This is AWESOME.
This is a short movie from a film archive site...I think if my memory serves me right it was something to do with the world fair...not 100% sure
This gotta b the finest song about death ever. May his soul travels in peace. On.what s that video? It s lush as well. Tks for posting
Love both versions: This one and Bowies.
I wanna find Jacques Brel original. He was an amazing singer too...anyone knows where I can find the original version?
RIP Scott Walker dies aged 76
Wow
Im sure that the original was by Jacques brel, but sung in Belgian/french, It constantly suprises me that often when i find a song that i like, it turns out to be a JB song..

This song sounds like an awesome Bond-movie theme...
