I did carefully splurge and bought a pork tenderloin on sale last week and divided it into 8 meals for me and my husband....it was less than $9.00. Zero waste on fat, etc. and I used 2 c. water for broth, one onion and good old salt and pepper for seasoning. I shredded it and froze it in 8 containers with broth. I will use with cheap package of instant mashed potatoes and a can of sauerkraut. That will be a weekly meal for 8 weeks. We are still waiting for our garden to ripen to help with shopping costs. I've been getting free veggies from aldi's. Cans emptied ever Wednesday and I go around 6p.m. I get bags of fruits and veggies. That way I have more money for meats too can and freeze each month.

We think alike in so many ways and I also have a daughter who has 4 legs and is my 24/7 companion and her name is Emma Louise. She is a southern bell so she has two names. She is going on 17 years and we are like pea's and carrot's. I know the food has gotten so costly and every penny and dollar counts. I live in Georgia and it is so hot I'm about to move to Antarctica. I am 72 years old. I rarely shop at k j's. They are so expensive. Walmart has really gone up on their prices here. I shop the sales at Food Lion and Kroger. We have a couple of Aldi stores, But I rarely get to them. I have 3 cats who are 10 years old all from the same litter. I actually spend more on them between their cat food and Kitty litter Than I do on myself, But that is okay. I cannot remember the last time I bought a steak. Maybe 10 years ago. I am needing to go to the store now but my car air conditioner barely puts out any air so I'm waiting for the temperature to go down a couple of degrees. It is supposed to be 101 today plus whatever the heat index is going to be. It is very humid here. I always look forward to your videos. I'm looking forward to your next $10 grocery haul. Take care of yourself and stay out of the heat.
That is too hot Granny! It's 91°here with the humidity and I am staying in. Getting some work done inside. My dryer died so moving the old one so I can clean underneath. You did well on your shopping trip. Everything keeps going up. $129.00 just to have the dryer delivered. I bought a drying rack and going to use it more to save on electricity. We lived in a modern 400 square foot THOW (tiny house on wheels) for years here in California, and now live in a modern 400 square foot home that we love. Well designed so we can have guests, and entertain a lot. Easy to heat in winter and cool in summer. Don't think I would do well with humidity in our hot 100*+ June to October. We are fortunate to be able to grow a small vegetable garden which saves us money, using the French intensive method, along with the Back To Eden method where vegetables are planted closer together which keeps weeds at bay and saves on watering. Eggplant, bell peppers, various tomatoes, bush beans, French Mesclun lettuce mixes, Armenian and English cucumbers, zucchini (we love eating the blossoms), melons are doing well. Do you have space to grow a few vegetables? Having a well stocked pantry means we don't have to shop often. We love all types of beans 🙂 Whole Foods has the best price on a case of bananas. We eat bananas daily in our homemade yogurt. And we freeze them for banana 'ice cream'. Just put them in the Vitamix *blender) with some almond (or dairy) milk and a wee bit of homemade vanilla extract.
I wish I could control my groceries but I live with my daughter and she is not great at budgeting. We are planning on splitting our household and living alone. I have the feeling my grocery bill will shrink then. But, because I have diabetes and heart problems, I still have to be careful with what I eat. Also, my GP thinks I am in a depression, which affects my outlook greatly. The economy doesn't help either. I think politicians (especially Congress) should have to eat exactly like every day people do. Let's see them have no meat, small portions and water to drink.
I buy strictly from Food Lion. They have the best vegetables. I can get 3-4 meals out of that type package of potatoes. Do what BOGO'S I can in order to stretch my food budget. Growing up I learned how to stretch food.
Hot here in NC too! I got a good deal on peaches so we have been making jelly, jam and quarts. We shop a lot at Food Lion too. Lots of good mark downs.

I just bought 50# of russet potatoes for $15.99 at my local amish bulk store. They were Wisconsin potatoes. This was a good deal. This bag will keep me and hubby until my potatoes are ready in the garden. Praying for rain here in east central indiana. Pockets of rain around us, especially in the metro areas. But not over the farm ground. I need to use your thinking of making meals based on cost. I usually try to use up older canned food first. And keep emptying my freezers before we have 2 steers butchered.

I'm in my mid 70s. I come from a family of 8 boys and 2 girls. We lived of my Dad's pay as a factory worker for US Rubber, now Uniroyal. How my mom did it I don't know. We did get government surplus food. That helped a lot. I loved the cheese I made some thick grilled cheese. I didn't like the non fat dry powder milk. I put coffee, or chocolate syrup in it. I was in every sport possible on the move every second. My calorie intake must have been tremendous. We all made it through. I moved out at an early age with no idea of inflation. I used to by box of cat food it was 69 cents then went to 75. Instant lesson. Love your videos.

I don't know if you have Dollar Tree there but there's a channel here on RUclips called Dollar Tree Dinners that is fun to watch.
I like to snack on peppers also. I love the crunch.
Make a corn/fish chowder. I shop the flyers and go several stores for about fifteen dollars every ten days or so.
Check your receipt BEFORE you leave the store! It will save you from having to go back to the store.
