Hey Granny this is the way down south Granny. I save my bread bags cause they are food grade and I use them in stead of gallon zip lock. It is how I save money, makes a use of the bread sacks also.

I would like to encourage your viewers to check to see if they have a senior center in their community. I no longer need to buy bread because I get it there for free. The onions and peppers in my fridge right now are from there as well, all free of charge. I just put some bananas in my freezer this morning for fruit smoothies that also came from there. Produce comes in irregularly (3-4 times a month), but they have bread available several days a week. Seldom is it sandwich sliced, but rather breads like bonilla, bratwurst buns, french loaf etc. Every little bit helps.

Im with you. I do a type of fry bread ( recipe: Rhoda Smith). RUclips Senior. She adds dry milk. Bread or cornbread is easily found at a food pantry. Cornmeal and flour doesn’t cost much. Buying bread is not always a good deal. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Our Aldi is my main place to grocery shop. We have two other grocery stores but they are extremely high in prices. I did a $10.00 challenge at our Aldi and here is what I got and the prices. One gallon of 2% milk for $2.69, 1 cucumber for .59, butter salad (lettuce) for $2.59, 1 box of fruit bars (a breakfast bar) for $2.89 and a bottle of Thousand Island salad dressing for $1.89. It totaled $10.65. No food tax here. I also watch for discount foods at Aldi because once in a while they have some things marked down to sell quickly. So I got 5 items for my total at Aldi. I know that Aldi is trying to keep their prices down as much as they can and where we live they are certainly lower than any other stores around. I have also taken chicken and boiled it and shredded it and froze it that was ready to use in recipes.

I love the Aldi in my town. I don't buy everything there, but love their fruit, fresh vegetables, cheeses and butter, coffee and creamer, bacon. There are some things that I buy only at Aldi. Sadly, the most expensive store in town is very near my house. Sometimes I have to weigh the difference in going there for a few things vs. driving a long distance in traffic to save a little bit. Yes, everything is more expensive everywhere.

Hi Granny! You did great at Aldi. To get any kind of meat and another item for $10 is amazing these days. I would love it if you'd make Onion rings and make it a video! I've made them a couple times but mine didn't turn out right. The batter was too thin I think. It was just a hot mess 😆. You could teach me what I'm doing wrong. Have a wonderful day Granny and everyone watching this.

You are so right--grocery prices are getting sky high, and my husband and I notice it especially because we try to buy organic fruits and vegetables, which are already higher than the non organic, plus other foods that are free from the really bad oils and chemicals. I’ve heard that prices can be cheaper on those types of food through Thrive market online, where they deliver to your doorstep. We have never tried it before so I can’t say if it’s worth it.
At Aldi, I like to buy their organic, grass fed hamburger meat when it goes on sale for $3.99 per pound. You can’t beat that!
Thanks for the video, Granny. It’s always good to hear from you!

Yes! Aldi prices have really gone up! Aldi used to be on average, 20% cheaper than Walmart, but not anymore. Right now Aldi is about running neck to neck with Walmart Great Value prices, and in lots of instances, WM prices beat Aldi prices. I check prices on my Aldi and WM app before I shop and pay the cheapest price at both stores (my Aldi and WM are located in the same block so I’m not wasting gas by running to two different stores). I also buy on sale and markdowns at Kroger, but their regular prices are always more expensive than Aldi or WM. You have to shop smart to stretch those dollars!

We were/are the nation that feds the WORLD, now we have folks waiting and hoping to find essentials at the lowest prices. WHY?? Food pantries can't keep up with the increase of folks going there and sometimes the food pantries shelves are bare, very sad. Where are we going in the future, when will this insanity STOP. I was in shock when I moved here in 1995 as I moved from Ohio which didn't have tax on food. A recipe for you to try. Take 2 zucchini and 2 tomatoes, slice and layer in a casserole. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. The microwave for 5 minutes. Good cheap eating when zucchini and tomatoes are in season. Have a good day. Look forward to your next video.

Hi, Granny! Great haul. I often buy that same package of chicken from Aldi's. It really goes far and it's good. The problem i have is i always pull out that white "artery " from each strip before cooking and it messes up each piece. Do you pull that out as well, or does it cook away? Seems to me it would be kind of tough to chew. Just wondering, because it really is a pain to pull them out each time. But that package is a good deal for me. Thanks for showing us what $10 can buy. I only go there every other month or so. I just go for it there and don't care what I'm spending and I get a lot of unusual things that I can not get there like Gyro sandwich kits. I don't go to Sams or Costco so that's my go crazy treat store. I get their trout ( I freeze it soon ) because I cannot find it anywhere else that I know of. I almondine that up like a fancy restaurant. I like their cauliflower pizzas too. I love their little prepared dinners when you first walk in. They use thighs. I love thighs and I use the leftover sauce on other things too. I make one of Aldi dinners those feed us 4x though because for every entree sliver ( lol ) I put 4 or 5 veggies on the plate. I want to lose 20 more lbs this summer before the cold comes in. I cannot diet in the cold weather. My North Florida winters are so brutal. LOL. Just kidding. I get those chewy wide breads now ( preferably diet thin sliced ) and fold over my sammiches proud that I get by with one slice. Cheap! Cheap! lol...

In Mass we don’t pay tax on food unless it’s hot food like a pack of fried hot chicken or pizza at the grocery stores. I said Aldi seemed like prices jumped so much just the other day!!!

The regular price for that chicken was more than $13 or about $4 per pound. That’s scary expensive.

Good deal on the chicken. Do you use the bones for soup stock?

Make those onion rings and let me know how it goes. I use to make those at a restaurant about 35 years ago and they just dipped them in some simple dip then fry. I might give them a try for sure.

Michigan does not charge sale tax on food. Each state is different about sale tax. I try to buy only things on sale but yes food has gone up and gas for cars etc has gone up.

Aldi does not charge food tax. That is a state tax. Not all states charge food tax.
