One thing i like to do when i open a package of bacon...i cook the entire package, drain the grease into a jar and put in the fridge or freezer for frying or flavoring. I then feeeze the pre cooked bacon in a ziplock to use as much or little as i want. Keeps it fresh so it doesn't go bad. Stretches it out quite well.
I'm a 65-year-old divorced retired nurse. Love your channel. I grow some of my own produce and shop sales and loss leaders. I utilize the food pantry. I live in Central Indiana in a tiny 900 sq ft condo. Thanks for your frugal tips. Love your motto. I'm a Christian as well. Blessings.
Ive never, in my whole life, lived in a home bigger than 950 sq feet. I dont feel like its "tiny" lol. Currently, my husband and I live in a condo that he owned before we married 9 years ago and its 945 sq feet. Two beds, two baths and underground parking. For two 60 year olds and a senior fat kitty, I feel like its perfect.
You are doing incredible! The fact that you still have leftover food from the past two weeks is amazing. I hope you find an egg special and can get 2 dozen.
If I can't use all my eggs in a timely manner, I line my 1 cup liquid measuring cup with a sandwich ziploc bag and crack a egg into it and mix with fork, seal and put in my freezer. Few hours later I remove my measuring cup 😅 and then whenvever I'm baking something, I remove egg{s) from freezer and I defrost overnight in my fridge. I do label bag beforehand and date it as well 😊
Wow, you’re doing great! You may have enough left over at some point to be able to skip a week of buying groceries. You could use the extra money to buy staples like flour, sugar, spices and so on, but I’m sure you already know that. Keep up the good work!
I agree 100%...seniors can eat very nutritious if they learn to shop sales & when it's a really good sale kinda stock up for the next time. Even if they don't like to cook or can't, simple meals can still be eaten
Robin you do a great job with your grocery shop. It's great that you stick to just what you have to spend. Very impressive. I really enjoy your videos and your just so real. Thanks blessings to you
Good morning. What an inspiration you are to do more with less. Your sister was definitely a blessing and you were helping her also. Have a blessed day.
Tips I find useful to keeping food costs reasonable A. I look for sale and clearance items first. B.I am flexible if I want chicken and it is too high a price - I simply don't buy it. C. I have lowered my portion size especially on carbs. A bag of precooked rice from Dollar Tree [ I CANNOT COOK DECENT RICE and have given up ! ] is $1.25/3servings. I stretch it to 5 portions - or $.25/ portion. D.I eat meat and fish but also eat meatless meals. E. I add fresh fruit or an expensive vegetable to a meal with less expensive ingredients. F. I do not fill up on carbs. G. No energy drinks, flavored waters, fancy lattes, soda is 2x a year. I drink coffee , tea and tap or bottled water because it easier as I keep it in my car. No need to worry about going thirsty. H. If someone offers me something I take it and thank them. I. I share what I can not use. J. My meals are creative. * Canned Applesauce instead of oil and eggs when baking.. * Meat cooked with fruit. Cooked fruit makes a sauce. * Fruit no sugar added to make a fruit spread. * Try new foods now and then. * Sign up for senior low income specials such as food stamps, $50 farm share
I'm with you on the rice, it never turned out for me either...until I found a 'hack' on a cooking show; cook the rice as you would pasta. Boil in water until it's to your liking, then drain. Perfect rice every time.
I am fortunate to be able to get a monthly Senior Box from state program. Fresh veggies, frozen chicken, cheese, multiple cans of veggies, beans, fruit, cereal, fresh bread plus more. It is beyond fantastic.😊
WOW you did receive a blessing as well as fantastic prices ! I figured out the price of the hamburger you purchased 80 ounces at a cost of $14.95 . A 3 ounce portion would be $.55. And, you would have almost 27 portions at 3 ounces WOW😮 IS RIGHT ! Good for you !
@@azgardenlover370 So so true. No air here either. Wish I could post a picture that sums up what we both said. I'd rather go to bed exhausted and fulfilled than empty and wasted.

We've been eating our food storage down...I am starting the replenishing phase now...if I use a can of tuna, I replace it the next time I shop so our supply maintains vs increasing, unless I find some good bargains, then I'll do a stock-up vs a restock. Yes I did. Doesn’t everyone? I can see from your numerous comments that you don’t play well with others. I am on the verge of ejecting you from the game for bad sportsmanship. One more and you are out!

Would you be in Iowa? I lived in Iowa from 1981-1986. That was the only place I new that had Far way and HiVee grocery stores.
Yes. HyVee has expanded to Illinois and other areas.
It actually looks like a lot of food. It seems you are missing fresh veg and fruit.
You must have missed it. That’s why I went to Jewel for produce. I got some nice buys. Just right for me. Thanks for being here.
