I just realized why we love this. We see the rest of the group being active and it isn’t just Goku and Vegeta doing everything. Krillin distracts Cell while a woman and her son/brother escape. We also see Piccolo and Tien show up at the end, showing that they’re being active in searching for Cell.
Vegeta barely does anything relevant after defeating Zarbon, Dodoria and the ginyu force (and he still needed Goku's help for that last one), it was Super who made Vegeta more relevant, before that it was just Goku's show with Gohan taking over briefly during Cell saga.
I love how this scene shows Krillin's smarts. He could easily fly away with the plane, but a major part of this arc is the fact that flying uses energy and makes you detectable (which is why Imperfect Cell spends most of his time on the ground, avoiding Piccolo and the others) so he grabs onto the plane to conceal his energy from Cell.
That's also why Krillin could shoulder tackle Cell like that. As soon as Cell felt Krillin's ki rose up he made contact Krillin made a calculated risk against a super android , he really is one intelligent fighter.
Lol please this show isn't about smarts it's about power level. And krillin only lived cause the show didn't want to kill him right there that's all. It's all dumb plot convince nothing else.
Everyone always mocks Krillin for dying or being critically injured but the guy actually does work. He took on enemies way stronger than him, didn't back down. Considering Yamcha got a hole put in him by Gero and Cell here who's way stronger and Krillin did everything right- signaled for help, fought to help the people and even got a good hit on Cell? He's a legend.
Yeah but Yamcha got a hole by Gero because he has his ki sucked by him, Yamcha still managed to knock down a Cell jr with the help of Tien, we must not forget it. Ok Krillin is great but mah boi Yamcha too

I honestly don't care about the whole "canon" concept, why does everything in this franchise have to become a canon subject or debate? I'm simply enjoying the kickass moment of Krillin standing up to Cell, even briefly toppling him off his feet was a shining moment for him.

But in the Anime he actually gets some hits in and matches Cell until he begins using his speed and illustrates Trunks' misconceptions about Ascended Super Saiyan. And what's wrong with that? If Cell could conceal his speed and power with Goku prior to Gohan, why could he not do the same with Trunks? At least it gives Trunks a good moment even if he's ultimately doomed, no different than Goku. Same again with Mystic Gohan vs Fused Buu. In the manga he immediately gets taken apart but in the Anime he actually lands some hits and puts up a respectable fight before then beginning to lose and get dominated by the more intelligent, able Buu. It's at least nice that respected, good characters get some shine and this is no different, I love how Krillin in a moment of rage hurts Cell.
Same. It got me to the point where i dont know what is canon and what isnt, which made me ultimately say "fuck this whole canon thing" and i just enjoy the show.
Because if its non canon, its basically not much different than a fanfiction or a fanmade animation based on fanfiction. There are hundrets of fanfictions where krillin is fighting hard fights, so nothing special about this scene. It would only be impressive if it was a part of the real story, but a filler is basically like fanficiton.
I have watched Japanese version of DBZ, and have never seen that kid say "mOmmmMM!1!1!" Out of fear from cell. So it's kind of a 50-50 guessing situation
I can live with it given in this his kienzan doesn’t work on cell but this happens In the manga he never used the Kenzan on cell as a mater of fact toryama claimed it can go though anything
That body check was awesome! I love this fight, you can tell Krillin is just struggling to survive but his guts and skill makes what should be an easy victory for cell into a decent match.
Its actually more of how weak imperfect cell was. Piccolo could have beat him after absorbing Kami, but Cell ran, then Piccolo is on the ropes fighting the androids. So Cell was pretty weak in the beginning.

We can see it through flashbacks etc And also the author drew many artworks for some filler characters which are present in DB Kai, like Pikkon and the tuffles. And ultimately he even stated that dragon ball is both the anime and the manga
Well technically, Kai isn’t canon to Super. They probably just use Kai footage for convenience. In Kai, King Kai gets revived after Gohan beats Cell. However, in DBS he’s still dead.

Every time he does solar flare he never ever follows up with a destructo disc!! literally he could have killed Nappa and also cut frieza in half! Sure Cell would have easily regenerated but it takes energy each time to regen!
He could do the destruction disk barrage like he did when he cut off frieza tail then he threw one that turned into 50 disk he could of chopped cell up like onions
Krillin actually gave imperfect cell a hard time. Krillin was not too far below goku and vegeta at this time of the android saga. Krillin had some crazy zenkai boost while on nemek.
And that's why Krillin is my favorite character in DBZ. You need to be extremely brave to fight an overwhelming enemy with little hope of surviving, let alone winning. And yet he always rushes into battle when others need him. It was the same when he attacked Buu on the lookout.

This had to be one of my favorite episodes because (granted i havent watched the show in years) it treated cell more like an unstoppable terrifying horror creature which i kind of loved
Super underrated Krillin moment. 9 out of 10 times, he will fight and not run even when he knows he's outmatched. He is a martial artist. He is a brave warrior

The whole frieza saga he was. It was basically gohan and krillin show. He kept bulma gohan and dende safe till goku came to fight. Most these comments are full of kai,super,and tfs fans. Who never watched the original
Fights like this are SO necessary. Krillin is hopelessly outmatched against Cell, so it’s a fight for not just his life, but the lives of two innocent bystanders as well. And despite how scared he is, he FIGHTS and protects the innocents. But for him, he has to rely more on skill, wit, cunning, and luck when he fights a monster like Cell - there’s no way he’ll beat him with brute force. That, and the main goal isn’t even beating Cell (because he knows he won’t be the one that’s able to do it,) but either ESCAPING Cell or holding him off until his friends arrive in response to his signal. The stakes are incredibly high and time sensitive for a protagonist like Krillin because he’s HUMAN. But being human doesn’t mean he’s ‘lesser than’ or powerless - not if he’s got courage and GRIT.
Isn't it nice when the characters actually save people, not just fight for like 15 episodes straight and not really accomplish anything until the last one?
As much as this goes against power scaling and much like the other z fighters beating the Ginyus in filler, I gotta commend the rest of the writing team at least putting in the effort to keep the earthlings relevant despite Toriyama decisively shifting the focus entirely over the power of the Saiyans.

Where in the Manga, Vegeta is utterly useless against Kid Buu, gives Goku no time and is beaten in 5-6 hits, in the anime he continues to get up, gives Goku plenty of time, lands several hits of his own, even stalemates Kid Buu for a moment in a contest of strength and scares the hell out of him. Same as with Trunks. In the Manga he's absolutely useless like Vegeta the moment Cell goes perfect. But in the Anime he actually gets some hits in and matches Cell until he begins using his speed and illustrates Trunks' misconceptions about Ascended Super Saiyan. And what's wrong with that? If Cell could conceal his speed and power with Goku prior to Gohan, why could he not do the same with Trunks? At least it gives Trunks a good moment even if he's ultimately doomed, no different than Goku. Same again with Mystic Gohan vs Fused Buu. In the manga he immediately gets taken apart but in the Anime he actually lands some hits and puts up a respectable fight before then beginning to lose and get dominated by the more intelligent, able Buu. It's at least nice that respected, good characters get some shine and this is no different, I love how Krillin in a moment of rage hurts Cell.

Fights like this are SO necessary. Krillin is hopelessly outmatched against Cell, so it’s a fight for not just his life, but the lives of two innocent bystanders as well. And despite how scared he is, he FIGHTS and protects the innocents. But for him, he has to rely more on skill, wit, cunning, and luck when he fights a monster like Cell - there’s no way he’ll beat him with brute force. That, and the main goal isn’t even beating Cell (because he knows he won’t be the one that’s able to do it,) but either ESCAPING Cell or holding him off until his friends arrive in response to his signal. The stakes are incredibly high and time sensitive for a protagonist like Krillin because he’s HUMAN. But being human doesn’t mean he’s ‘lesser than’ or powerless - not if he’s got courage and GRIT.

As much as this goes against power scaling and much like the other z fighters beating the Ginyus in filler, I gotta commend the rest of the writing team at least putting in the effort to keep the earthlings relevant despite Toriyama decisively shifting the focus entirely over the power of the Saiyans.
