Yes, both Perfect Cell and Kid Buu held back when they hit him, but he survived the hits all the same.

Super was targeted to a younger audience in Japan, and also the culture has changed a little bit. It's a shame, bloody dragon ball is the best dragon ball.

He saved Vegeta twice! Once here, and once when Goku wouldn't throw the bomb because Vegeta was in the path. Majin Buu tackled Kid Buu out of the way so that Mr. Satan could pick up and carry Vegeta to safety.
Mr. Satan already mastered the thing that whis talks about at this arc before whis even told that to goku and vegeta "the movement of body without thinking" thing while he's down on his knees begging buu not to hurt him damn mister satan
I wanna point out some things at 5:04 when Mr. Satan performs his combo because I think people are overlooking a few things. First of all, kid Buu is actually physically being moved from each hit! These aren't sock'em bopper-tier taps but actual, legitimate punches and kicks! Obviously they're nowhere near the level of Goku or the other main characters, but this is still respectable considering Buu is visibly being knocked around from the force! Secondly, Mr. Satan is cramming out upwards of ten punches EACH SECOND! That is extremely quick, especially for someone like him! Sure he isn't doing any substantial damage towards Buu, but Mr. Satan is absolutely a lot stronger than the average human! Him being a former legitimate world champion suddenly makes a lot more sense after seeing this.
To be fair, super buu could be penetrated by bullets so not sure if its saying that much Nevertheless if it werent for the champ's intervention the whole galaxy would be gone
Satan is legit one of the strongest people on Earth. He just doesn't know how to control Ki. Without Ki his feats are similar to Goku's before he learned to control ki. There is a big difference between Goku before and after his training with Roshi.
Well to be fair, buu knows mr satan is incapable of harming him so he was probably standing completely unguarded and limber as well as his body being jello I wouldn’t be surprised if even a small force could move him
Stuff like this makes me wish we got to see Mr. Satan back in Dragon Ball, when the power-scaling was considerably lower. I doubt he would've been top-tier due to ki-techniques and magic shenanigans being at play, but he definitely would've been a lot more helpful, a la Yajirobe.
It looks like Goku made the right call in picking up Mr. Satan when their planet was about to blow up. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to win the fight. In the end, it was Mr. Satan who ultimately defeated Buu-a twist of fate! I guess he really is the world's champ. Goku and Mr. Satan are the true champions; had Goku not picked up Mr. Satan, they would have lost everything. So, it all worked out in the end.
