However, just think to yourself a little deeper: how many times has Goku TRULY admitted defeat? it's easy to say that, but count em up to compare to the amount of times he doesn't. It's very similar to Vegeta. It's just that you can see either side based on how you view it.

This scene has always stuck in my head as the most hopeless I ever felt for the protagonists. I don’t think the scene is talked about enough, but in any other context everyone would realize how absurd it would be for Vegeta and Goku to use every ounce of energy to finally take down Broly, Frieza, Cell, Kid Buu, Manemba, etc. just to see an army of clones that are just as strong walking towards them from the horizon.

That is needed to develop him or any character and tell the right story along the lines of the story's reasoning.
