Great video. It proves the point that it doesnt matter what grade you are at or how long youve been climbing, once climbers get together, they share the joy of just climbing and encouraging each other 👍
I live in the USA and I also think the people in the climbing community are nicer when compared to the general population. I’m glad to see that someone across the ocean also holds that belief.
Didnt realise you were so strong in the pullups mate. Did a few board climbs with you when I was climbing at flashpoint last year and you obviously have strong fingers, but pullups are definitely harder if youre taller. Good on you
@hitmansparky ok that's it, this video has convinced me to try Dyno's instead of just trying to static them. I also have the same issue of over thinking them
Thats totaly true what Kathi saying there. I love the moment when you realy trining hard and beeing so much in focus that you get up the boulder and do only know how much you pull on that one heelhook ore foothold. And can't believe what happend. Especially outdoor
@oadindu_ this was a very cool video! as a new climber who's only been at it for 2 weeks now, it was very inspiring seeing climbers at different stages of their climbing journeys and with different abilities and personal strengths. Im excited to keep training to see where I'm at by the time I get to all of your benchmarks! Subscribed!
Its interesting seeing how much weaker other new climbers fingers are, im just about to finish my first year of climbing and can hang 185% of body weight on 20 mil for 5 seconds, aswell as hanging 5-10 seconds one arm on the beast maker 23mil in half crimp and 10 seconds one arm consistently in 3 finger drag. Might be because I only weight 135lbs and have the legs of someone who weights 110lbs.
That’s fair,my friends who got me into climbing are super strong and could do v3 their first session. When I climbed I could barely do a v1-v2 .but my brother (after I’ve been climbing for a few months)easily did a v3-4. I think it all depends on how strong you are in certain areas before climbing. My brother worked construction so super strong forearms and fingers and my friend who would accidentally train finger strength at his IT job by holding computers with just his fingers.( also being super lightweight)
@climbgerg 12:47 The climb rating feature seems so good for tracking emotional damage, and on a serious note, what your anti-style climbs are! I might pick one up
@kyleofcanada Great example of how all climbers are different, with different styles, good days and bad days. Also loved the point about actual time on the wall, versus time since you started climbing, climbing for "1 year" in this case sounded to be closer to "5 years" worth of time actually on the wall.
@sedge100 Good to see how they progress. never done max hang so will be In the gym to compare. I've been climbing for about 5 years my self now on and off but starting to make an effort again to do more training.
just a mention during the weighted pull up tests, it does make quite a bit of difference doing weighted pull ups with the dead hang on a climbing harness, vs the chain belt. The chain belt hangs the weight much lower which provides a way different center of gravity for pulling, while hanging on the harness the weight is much higher and closer to the body - making it in essence feel lighter since it is mor near the center mass.
@doadesethan, loving the content and the fronts of my current shoes are literally in two pieces held together by superglue so thanks for the opportunity to get some new ones
The guy has been climbing for 1 year and can max hang 136% BW on a 20 mm edge 😮 I've been climbing for longer, can't get close to 100% BW, and get pulley injuries all the time.
@_implied_
I was wondering how he had progressed so quickly in 1 year and then he said "being unemployed" and I died 😂😂😂
"being unemployed" killed me lol
he must have superhuman recovery, no way i could climb multiple times a week if each session was 4-6 hours
Actually i do this as well but yea can only do that cause of unemployment😅
Great video. It proves the point that it doesnt matter what grade you are at or how long youve been climbing, once climbers get together, they share the joy of just climbing and encouraging each other 👍
Thats the best thing about climbing IMO you can relate to the struggle on a v2 even if you can climb v10
You are getting better at teaching Josh! 👌🏻🤣
Very nice video, full of wholesomeness and commitment
Haha thank you 😊
"Thats a big claim Chris" I bursted out in laughter
That was another great video, Josh!
Thank you 🙏
Another great video!👏 Would like to see a follow up a year or so down the line to see how much you've all inproved🤔
I live in the USA and I also think the people in the climbing community are nicer when compared to the general population. I’m glad to see that someone across the ocean also holds that belief.
Same in France, imo!
@fergusjjones
I love these sorts of videos.
Always encouraging to see the progress of others. Makes me want to get back to the gym right away!

Just great vibes with your videos Josh, love it.
Thank you 😊

You live totaly in that moment. Better the any drugs for me.
@comfyclimbs nice to see climbers who enjoy the social/community aspect of the sport!
The climbing community is one of the most special things about climbing, don’t think it can be found in many other places 😊
‘How’d you get good at climbing in a year’
‘Being unemployed’
That got me 😂
@petahkang awesome video! It is nice to see a comparison of what’s possible (1.5 years into climbing now)
Josh is becoming a good teacher 😅
Haha finally 😂
@luke.0h this video really shows how commitment to the grind pays off keep it up.
Float like a butterfly, swing like a giraffe

@abbieclimbswithms
Would love to see all women 1/5/10 years climbing compared!
Plus an all men video ofc 💪🏻

Also i don't mean the first part in a rude way just wasn't sure of a better wording.

I am finishing my first year of climbing as well. And I cannot even hold my bodyweight on 20 mm.
This was a very wholesome video
Amazing video Josh 🔥
Thank you 🙌

@thiccctor
good vibes! Great Video mate.
@specnatular
Josh, why did you switch from the tenaya indalos to the new la sportiva no edge shoes?
I changed sponsorship, so now I’m sponsored by La Sportiva rather than Tenya 😃
@Stuarteggleston loving the comparison between experience levels
@kyleofcanada

@WildWilley fun video!
@JGU_Beta I'll be that 1 year climber in July, time flies.
@ahmadkuddah
strength is just not my way of climbing, i just compensate with the technique cause i'm just lanky
@AKA_KIZEN great video! Very interesting how strength and technique have impact on climbing and all the tests!
@jakob_k8
Great vid man. Fun to see the strength and technique differences.
@mystishio
Excellent cabbaging at the start there😂

@alyciak_ Fun video! I cheese grated my shin on a slab volume today, I used to love slabs now I think I'm joining Josh's anti-slab club.
@alteska

@keilanpiper. The unemployed comment killed me hahaha great seeing the comparisons though
