    I remember way back in a Q/A you said that you weren't planning on asking someone like Ondra or Megos for a collab because you felt you would bother them, that an ex-pro climber turned youtuber wouldn't be worthy of their time. I'm glad things changed because this content is solid gold Magnus, keep it up !

      Also seems like Ondra is enjoying it as well rather than being bothered. I think based on his comment about speed climbing he paid attention to Magnus back in the competition days and his strengths/weaknesses. So in a way I think Adam is getting to relax and just hang out with another pro climber rather than feeling like he's just being interviewed by a journalist or something.

I've only seen someone do a 7c+ in person once where I could feel the holds myself to appreciate how insane that level really is. I mean I think they get the drift... most people understand that if they try a marathon they aren't going to be going for 2 hour pace or do 100m in 10 seconds or less. Most people at home watching the olympics probably couldn't hang from a bar for a minute. Climbing is already growing as you can see with the inclusion into the olympics and that will be more than enough to get some kids/adults interested and they can find out for themselves. So unless the olympics added a section where they pick random person from the crowd for every event I don't see how it's applicable :D Would be fun though

    One of the best climbing videos I have ever seen. It had EVERYTHING> Good climbing, legendary climbers, good soundtrack & filming, and most interesting of all was that I think you learned things about yourselves, well at least I know you did Magnus. And with your great interview style & question choices, you helped us learn a bunch of new stuff about Adam. And seeing/hearing Adam in a coaching perspective to help you get beta on that boulder, was so new for us to see him that way. This video is pure fantastic, one to watch again and again. Thank you for taking this on. I would have loved to have seen a few close ups of holds in last training boulder. I would REALLY like to see you two do this kind of thing again. But if not, you’ve got a classic film here, thank you, thank you!!

    It's a total master class to see Ondra climb. I was most impressed on watching the repeaters of Svini mor (8B) at 45:50. The move before the final crossover is more refined: the first time he rear flags, the second time he switches feet (to prevent barn dooring), and the third time he bumps his right hand before the crossover. Amazing.

      @@nosho409 In Adam's case I would say it's just the matter of habbit. As far as I know, the consensus is that the safest knot for climbing is the figure eight. However Bowline knot is well known for not tightening as much under big pressure (fall) and therefore being easier to untie after you finished your climb.

    • @racerschin
      @racerschin 2 года назад +4

      You can also do this know one-handed and around waist. This was used in trad climbing back when no carabiners where present and you untied to pass through a security point. Adam added a safety knot so there is no real safety issue compared to 8.

    Can't tell you the last time I made it through a 50 minute video without skipping around. Fascinating mix of interview, discussion, climbing banter (sandbagging, moves, styles), and climbing in a unique spot. Adam's responses are often so candid it's nearly unsettling. Magnus does a good job leading discussions and mixing in humor and good questions. Waiting on the comments on how Adam belayed in this video..
    I won't judge anyone in this video for anything they do when they are by themselves, but showing it to such a great audience always introduces some amount of responsibility for what's shown. And for all other "worldly" climbers, it is dangerous to get used to "improper" belaying technique.
