By far my favourite quote “these things are made out of Monkey Metal” lol 😂
he's not kidding. my spur gear lasted 5 minutes.
Monkey's staff is virtually indestructible. lol
More like chinise fake metal made from pure imagination
100th like
I know right they break
“POWDERED MONKEY METAL” (never heard that description about sintered metal before) LOL, gotta love the English.
It's a first for me too!
😄
Powdered Monkey Metal lol
I live in nc north America and we are going threw a huricane and have no power so i cant charger my phone but im using my 6% to watch your video😂
Ja cub B right lmao

I guess calling for help, is out of the question? Stay safe!
charge it up in your car if possible? its probably not even safe to go outside tho is it..
I love Traxxas trucks but the one thing I hate about them is that they have a lot of plastic junk on them stock for how much you're paying. I would rather buy a cheap car and upgrade it.
Traxxas makes a lot of money off the word "Upgrade!"
Traxxas plastic! Every time I hear Traxxas that's all I can think about is plastic ha
I hate the fact that they use eleventy billion different sized screws for everything.
Sometimes plastic/composite is better
The trx-4 is the newest Traxxas I own, and it doesn't have the plastic issue, but I know what you mean about the older ones. That said, all the stampede 4x4 makes clever use of double shear mounting in many places and that makes the plastic hold up fairly well on it.
I love your style. I smile the whole time I watch.
What’s up with your name the green thing
Bailey Stokes signifies that I’m one of the paying subscribers I think
CCxRC oh that’s cool well thanks for replying even though I’m a year late
Me too

My favorite Rc channel by far Kev, thanks for the amazing content. You channel inspired me too start my own Rc channel and start my own build along with finishing a build I gave up on after a year! Best channel!
You need rpm true tracks for the Revo rear end . It gets rid of the stupid links and locks the rear wheels in to a set position
Kev! When you fill traxxas shocks, take the spring off and fill. After it's damn close to full, push the shock all the way compressed before you screw on the cap.
few years back my dad and I took a newer Traxxas slash 4wd brush less and a brushed 2 wheel drive slash, which was an older model. Both preformed amazingly and just recently, I've out in a brushless system into the two wheel drive, but the set screw for the pinion gear doesn't stay in. Personally I've had an E-Revo VXL, aka mini e-revo, and have really enjoyed my time with it. I had to upgrade the servo to a titanium geared Savox servo, which despite the abuse it's been through, has showed no signs of trouble in the 4 years I've had it. I replaced the knuckles with aluminum, nut's included, since the stock were worn out and popping apart every time it hit a bump. Soon I will be replacing the A-arms with full metal since some of them have been sheared. The rear diff. isn't fully sealed, resulting in a cleaning needed about every 8 or 9 runs. I do have to reprogram the electronics again, since after using them on a custom built 10th scale Nitro Sport. Recently I also finally broke my chassis, some I'm looking into either replacing it with another stock and adding a bulldog chassis protector or a full metal chassis. In all, these are all wonderful vehicles that I wouldn't trade in nor replace. I am happy with them, but like any big brand or company, there are some pretty irritating flaws, such as poor quality servo's, week tires(depending on the model), and exposed parts(such as the seem in the 1/16th e-revo diff) but they're an amazing brand and I am satisfied with my cars.
Always excited when I get a notification that you posted a video keep up the good work
kyle markham same here bro
Great topic ! .........most wont go there for fear of being ostracized.
We all know about weak links in our RC's , this helps when purchasing , maybe just buy the upgrades as well to avoid headaches.
My savage was a ton of fun. Kevin you are not the only one that had it chewing up diffs. I used to keep a couple ready to go in my tool box.
Hello Kevin Talbot. Just an update to this video. I bought 2 Xmaxxs back in March 2018. The one I drove the other I had as a spare. I just started driving the spare an maybe ran about 5 times an the 8s Esc went up in smoke. gona put the other esc in it, but im sure I will go with a hobby wing max 6. Thanks for all your videos! Very good to follow an help fix rcs! Merry Christmas!
For your shocks on your TRX-4, Traxxas put a video for the long arm lift kit and said when filling the shocks, fully compress the piston and when full pump a few times and then repeat if needed
for the trx4 shock issues you talked about just loosen up the screws on the top and bottom. my acx10 shock lock up when they are too tight. also make sure the shock isnt touching anything
You can tell how much Kev loves the hobby - every car, even with complaints, is "one of his favorite" this hobby/sport is buy - bash - break - wrench - bash - repeat and he loves it all! No point venturing into a hobby that doesn't constantly put a smile on your face!
Great content kev.
Slash 4x4 you got to love it !
Just keep a good supply of drive shaft parts in your bash box .nuff said 💋🤘
Don't beat around the bush say what you really feel! :-)
I love my slash 2wd☺️ I got it and instantly put a smaller pinion and bigger tires (2.8”) and that’s it. It hasn’t broken yet (I did strip a spur gear but it was my fault) so it’s perfect for me!
I've still got an old hyper 7 pro and it's just indestructible it's taken the biggest hits and the only thing that ever stopped it is a front drive shaft popping out of the cup but never actually broken anything also done a brushless conversion love it
Thats awesome to hear about the Slash 4x4 being so durable. I recently got one and made HUGE snow jumps in my back yard... I was scared to hit them in -35 C (Canadian winter) but slowly worked my way up and the thing just TAKES A BEATING over and over again. I guess I have to build even bigger jumps now. Love the vids, very entertaining and inspiring :)
I got the same weather up here too. Just got my slash 4x4 and it’s doing great
Hey kev! Love your videos!
I had the same issue with diffs in the savage, I found it was the plastic diff cases tweaking so the bevel and pinion were losin a good mesh and bam u’d shred a diff.. I ended up buying a fastlane aluminium diff cases and have never had a issue since.
I just got the bronco, it is awesome! The only thing I don't like is. The brushed motor, even in just water it tends to lock up.
I've never heard so many complaints about a savage lol they were the toughest trucks known to man for alot of years.
Kevin you missed the tires on the X Maxx ! They are glue and should be bead lock like the Pro line upgrade ! I bought mine same time as I bought my X Maxx and never even got the stock tires dirty
I agree with you about the brand new TRX 4 Sport and the shocks it's exactly what you said you fill them up then you try to drain a little bit out then you're too low and you got air I tried it over and over and over and after about four hours I got one to work out of four
Hey man it good to hear the bad parts if your buying one
Adding the RPM true track kit will fix the turnbuckle issue on your Revo. It completely eliminates the rear turnbuckle. it also keeps the suspension straight. instead of flexing in and out as the suspension travels up and down.
wow you have almost 150k subs? good job, i was subbed since like 30k
Can we get 5000 subscribers with no videos? You again I see you every where!
Same
How come every video I watch I see your channel
@@shancyroesner9212 same
u got 64k subs lol without videos wow
For the slash body look into the proline proflow body helps with the parachute affect
the WL toys buggy is amazing for cheap basher but i think the steering is impossible to trim right.. another thing is the spur gear getting stripped a bit too easy as well, but for the cost of one of these, its an amazing fun toy
Notice how he didnt have any thing hatefull to say about the HyperVS. O have a hyper7TQ had it since 2004 thing is a beast. Only thing I ever broke was a rear hub carrier. Best bash buggy out there. And it handles pretty good too considering how old it is. Long live the Hyper. Hyper7 for pres. LoL. Good video Kev. Keep em coming.
I upgraded the rear a arms to the RPM true track arms. No toe links.. Best upgrade i have done besides tires. Pro-Line Trenchers
On my slash I broke my hub carriers in the first week replaced with Ali and never had them break last part I broke was my front bulk head. Ran into a pole at about 5-7 mph not much faster then a slow jog and it broke the plastic off
I love your content Kevin, I probably watch your channel more than any other, I'll be buying my first EREVO very soon and so I've really appreciated your opinions on it. thank you for all of your hard work
The Traxxas Slash two-wheel drive is what I have and I've only broken one suspension or I'm on it and it was because it fell off the back of a truck bed and landed on its side
Also just saying a motor upgrade and the stock slash two-wheel drive is a really good idea because I have broken one of the bearings in my motor
Very useful guide Kev. Thank you. I think I'm going for the E Revo next after I've saved enough for the Losi DBXL 2.0 E.
I have a rustler VXL and I've noticed with a lot of traxxas is that they break easily. Now I can't compare with arrma until I get one in a couple months but from what I've heard they are more durable
Could you possibly contact Traxxas and have them make a UDR bashing body. I bought a new UDR and 3 body screw holes are already busted. I reinforced some spots and completely removed the 2 back fenders. Now the body just covers the cab and were the engine would be. I liked the realism, but could Traxxas please improve the strength?
Great video Kev. I liked and Subscribed!
I've had my Traxxas Rustler for 25 years. Still going very strong. Also has a special place with me.
JR yeah you really have a bond with rc cars when you have them for a long time, even if they are outdated and not the best.
Mojave Man so true i stil have a monster mutt stampede 2x2 and i love it
I've been thinking about getting another Radio Shack Golden Arrow like I had in the late 80s- early 90s. I miss that little buggy.
I honestly will go with the x maxx. I probably won't be doing backflips with but I might send it off some wooden ramps and stuff like that.
I was really surprised when you got the HPI Wheely King out. Because I have owned mine for like a year and no problems so far. But I will definitely watch for these weak spots. Because I am not easy with my Willie King it goes in the woods the Creek everywhere no problem but thanks for the tip
Hey Kevin , fill the shocks up , put them in a vacume , get all the bubbles out of them and they should be a lot better ...
You inspire me brother.. Just wish I was more computer savvy. I'm 41 and never owned a computer 😆.. X-Navy. Went in at 17 years old. Traveled none stop EVER since. Fell inlove with RC about 5 or 6 years ago. I'm obsessed. Lol it's my PTSD therapy man. Love it. Alll of iiit... I have the same UDR as you😜😜. Love that rig.. My 1.0 SBR is a beast but UDR and typhon hmmm ridiculous... Want to make the Typhon into a rally.
Try adding a few ounces or grams of weight in the front of the Rustler, like you did with your burnout car. Half of the handling problems stem from it being back heavy.
great video the trx4 shocks your filling them wrong so thats why they are either gettting air locked or over filled if no compression.. there is a good video on re working those shocks. I look for it to share. I run king shocks on my hogs 8-)
Great video. Instead of going with the X0-1 diffs, which aren't any better than the Traxxas cvds u got, give the tekno m6 axels a try. I had bad luck with MIP xduities as well and absolutely love my teknos. Handle my mm2/2200kv monster slash without issue
Thanks to a generator, I can watch RUclips during hurricane Florence in NC! Nice vid kev.
Traxxas has really taken the lead in innovation over the last few years
Umm, no, that would be arrma. To the point that ole Traxxas got butthurt and sued them.
@@A_Man_In_His_Van true dat
ryan olson and team associated is about to surpass traxxas
RcFrenzy...I'm assuming you mean in the electric-world? As I would challenge that statement in the nitro world as their nitro vehicles are just above HSP/RedCat/Exceed.
@@A_Man_In_His_Van
Arrma innovation is just copying what others have already done, hence them losing the lawsuit to Traxxas.
I'd say that was a pretty fair review of the many r/c cars you have mate.. my first ever r/c car I had was a pb maxima which was a belt driven four wheel drive.. the weaknesses were stock drive shafts were forever popping apart and the drive belt kept slipping off but otherwise, a great first timer that almost got me first place in my first race.
i still remember mine was a tamyia mad bull its not grate but takes a beating and and the internales can take a lot of power i think at the moment its got a 5000mha 7.4v lipo with a brushless combo not sure witch but with the all metal gear servo its a good laugh and with some good mods on shock and stearing i love it its fun mad and crazly over powerd but it takes it and make me smile every time and its what got me hooked i think we all have had a tamiya at some point that are so well price and good for a beging level
Thanks for the informative vid....I'm thinking about buying the Slash and I'm happy you showed it's weaknesses...very helpful
For the white truggy you should do a video where you replace the rear shocks and use heavier oil in them
well the early savage 21 was the best gears etc , have 4 and have never replaced diffs mostly arms... they got cheaper every yr so i keep my old ones going but parts can be a issue
thanks for the vid. every car needs a weakest link. if you make something stronger more energy is send to other components down the line. so an easy to replace weak spot is something i don't mind
Racing is REALLY fun too I do it more because I am SO lucky to have a carpet track near me and I do not have a good place to run off-road rc cars at
You can fix the issue with the rodends on your Erevo if you glue it. Nice video kev ‼️
I know this is an old vid but on your Savage try putting some Losi Muggy shocks on there, best upgrade i ever did to mine.
Thanks for the insight. Good content. Enjoyed this one at least as much as I enjoy the bash vids. I like em all, actually. And I never mind the ebay pitch at all. Keep up the great work.
The one negative with all traxxas rc's is the servos. Mostly if not all plastic. They really need to come out with some metal geared servos for all their RCs. Or just by Savox servos.
Nashville RC they have lol and some high powered ones now
Oh, Kevin got an unused RC, I'm surprised. The first RC is always a special one :-)
My stock slash arms didn’t last very long at all in the front but since I got the rpm ones I’ve had no issues. My only other complaint is the front bumper screws that are exposed because they always get destroyed but yeah other than that nothing is wrong with it
I want a 4 wheel drive Slash now👍🏼👍🏼. Great Video
Sounds like my e maxx ,always blowing diff bearings & chewing up diffs, got ceramic bearings now pretty much fixed it👍🍻
I accually broke the rear diff in half on my trx 4 but that was cause it fell sideways off a cliff and landed right on the bottom face of my aluminum wheels and snapped it.. other then that just the micro servos and ALOT of bearings
Take the rear axle off the UDR and plasti-dip it. Still flexible, but no seams.
I had to buy one of those little A959's and turn it into a speed machine. It's a bit of a challenge to get them to go fast and straight. Lol
I don't know what you are saying but I am watching
I've been told off countless times due to my Savage X 4.6. There's only a couple of place where I can use it without getting told off. One of those is outside the front of my nan & grands house as it's a field, but saying that. I'm in the process of rebuilding my Savage X 4.6 and I'm wondering what people are going to say when I start using it again.
The joys of having engines 😆 🤷🏻♂️
@kevintalbot
for the hpi nitro use thread locker on the gear box screws so the don’t strip
True track for the e revo 2.0. Ur the man kev!!!
Kevin, check out the new 2255 Brushless service that Traxxas has released. I think one will find its way into my Revo soon.
Great video, very helpful and to the point ☝️
I know it's a bit outdated (deigned 10 years ago), but could you give the Traxxas Slayer Pro 4x4 a go? Traxxas recently released a video on it, implying it's going to be around for a bit longer. anyways, a nitro short-course truck with Revo suspension. nice.
Bilbo Baggins yea gas slash is cool
Wish they’d do an electric one
The only thing I’ve been able to do to my Traxxas slash was breaking the steering servo it takes a mad beating
Ever had any issues with the spur gear stripping? Thats my main problem, I broke a A-arm once but mostly I go through the spur gear and center diffs when ever I take it out, once I put a fresh diff in and took it to the dunes with paddle tires and the center diff broke on the first battery and stripped the spur gear as a result.
Chet Shultz yeah it did break but only once the first was just aligned weird
Man I love my hpi I had the first one and the second plus a complete aftermarket built Tmaxx. I have been looking for a mammoth I can't remember who made it but I had one and loved it and it was huge it took a beaten right next to my hpi
i loved this video!it feels good to be negative sometimes, that way when you feel positive again,it feels that much better!-lol!😃
Thanks, definitly tells me what i should or shouldnt buy
The spur gears and pinions always break. My brother ftx carnage as had 3 spur gears now he keeps rounding them off rip
When you get the Rustler 4X4 VXL can you do a head to head with the rustler 2wd?
Well yes, but the 2wd will get smoked
Get the old Savage dual steel disk brakes......far superior than stock...
Cheers Kev :--)
Ps.. also I found the exhaust pipe outlet from the head.....melts the back of the outer shock cap.....
Team C bearings arent the best lol.... I replaced some of mine with better bearings fron Ebay :--)
Could you do a video on all of the upgrades that you did to your xmaxx
Kev trying to be negative in his video but hes still got a smile on his face.
The e Revo rod ends can be solved buy glueing it. Mine don't strip and more.
Well Kevin the way you beat the snots out of all your RCs what do you expect when you break things taking jumps. I would like to see you jump a car or truck building to building and see if you can clear the gap?
23:39 someone finally understands my pain (I have steel shafts now)
I still have my XL Savage with the big block 5.9 nitro!
Love all your vids bro
I have a traxxas slash 4x4 and i have replace the driveshaft 2 times so i got metal driveshafts and still has not broken in 3 months
I have a savage and never broke anything yet it's about 7 years old still standard out of the box and still going strong best rc truck ever. I would love an xmaxx tho them trucks can go
Hpi savage is my favorite monster truck too. But I'm facing the same problem like you are.
RPM has a fix for the e-revo rear rods. They have/had a true track kit that eliminate those rods
there for the original erevo, kev has the erevo 2.0
@@jamess4527 are you sure it won't work on the 2.0 idk
@@glenmittermeier4271 I have both e revo's, The original has true track from rpm, the arms may fit the 2.0 but the new erevo has different steel axles that wont fit the old true track. I guess with enough thought and work its possible but i'll wait for rpm to make true track 2.0
Danke für das aufschlussreiche Video, Prima !!
I wish Traxxas would use a tougher plastic or something els. But still at least every time they jump they don’t snap👌😀
your the craziest rc youtuber...
that why i SUBSCRIBE !
Great videos👍 Keep them coming
i almost thought you were a big traxxas fan lol
nice collection ;)
I really enjoyed this negative video Kev it was a good idea and gives a good perspective that not any one rc is perfect
What I hate is Lipo's and fire and Lipo Chargers and fire, how do these things pass trading standards??
The savage is defo still my no 1 fav basher 😂👊🏻
