It's amazing to hear, most of the guitar idols that got me wantimg to play guitar give credit to Whitford and perry. Slash Starr and others. I wasn't as big of a fan of Aerosmith but gain respect from respect if that makes sense. You don't understand the links when you are learning it's just a song. As you get older you understand the lacks the style the Era and then jam!

Hands down Skynyrd take the cake for the guitar team award, he hit the nail on the head there. And yeah, those guys were playing the same-sounding riff but differently. Working for MCA 'main' riff is a perfect example. Ed's playing it on the 5th on the D string with the little slide from the 8th to 7th fret, Gary's low in the first position, and Allen on the 9th on the A. That song is a perfect explanation of blending multiple guitar riffs to form one. Skynyrd fans know what I'm on a bout!

Charlie once said that he loved Eddie Van Halen but couldn’t play like Eddie. With all due respect, Eddie could never play like Charlie. Eddie had the brown sound. But Charlie has that sweet southern sound that transcends rock and goes from rock and roll, to country, and even gospel music. Charlie didn’t influence me when I started playing guitar some 50 years ago. As a lover of Les Paul Jr’s he sure is now.

Hey people, one quick question. Does anyone know the name of the Lynyrd Skynyrd song Charlie played a snippet from at 5:48? Would love to hear the original. Thanks y'all.

To me that sounded like stealer, by free. When he was talking about skynyrd.

Nice to see Mr Starr's been influenced by those timeless, vintage Aerosmith riffs...So have I.

Never explored too much into Aerosmith and Joe Perry, but can someone tell me the names of those tunes he plays at/after 3:55?

ROCKS is one of my favorite albums of all time but I had never heard the Steve Hunter playing Perry stuff on the recordings rumor. But another favorite album of mine is Rock N Roll Animal and I'm well aware of who Steve Hunter is.
