It's amazing to hear, most of the guitar idols that got me wantimg to play guitar give credit to Whitford and perry. Slash Starr and others. I wasn't as big of a fan of Aerosmith but gain respect from respect if that makes sense. You don't understand the links when you are learning it's just a song. As you get older you understand the lacks the style the Era and then jam!
@Van peter You'd be lucky to get the Dumble for that much! I can't tell what model combo that is but if it's an ODS or SSS, watch out. And a clean LP from that era can be $400K. We can only dream...
Just saw Charlie and the guys last night. It’s crazy hearing him discuss the guitar teams he loved. And I was think the same thing watching Paul, Benji, and Charlie work together and just have fun all night. Super inspiring.
Jaw dropping amazing watching closely what Charlie does with his guitars. I can't play a lick or sing on tune. But this is a master craftsman talking and playing. Stunning. Thank you Songbirds Foundation.
Hands down Skynyrd take the cake for the guitar team award, he hit the nail on the head there. And yeah, those guys were playing the same-sounding riff but differently. Working for MCA 'main' riff is a perfect example. Ed's playing it on the 5th on the D string with the little slide from the 8th to 7th fret, Gary's low in the first position, and Allen on the 9th on the A. That song is a perfect explanation of blending multiple guitar riffs to form one. Skynyrd fans know what I'm on a bout!
@@frankmoore1299somebody said this on their new Collection vid with him and Gibson replied directly to the comment so maybe they'll finally do it. I mean... They gave Rick freaking Beato a Signature guitar before Charlie!
If there ever was a more deserving artist, I’d love for someone to point em out. Can’t wait to see these guys live at some point in the future, I’ve only recently done a deep dive into Charley and the Smoke, but I love them so far…
That's a dream Bridge PU Les Paul Standard Tone. Exactly how I always wanted any of my Les Pauls to be, but never really got. It's in a Master's hands ! Time to accept that simple fact.
Drove 4 hours from Nashville to Bloomington to see BBS about 5-6 years ago by myself. Was eating in a chinese restaurant right down from the venue (Bluebird??) And looked out the plate glass windows and Charlie is walking past the place. I threw a $20 down and went out and said hi. We talked amps for a minute (he had just started using Germinos). Super chill guy and made my night. Show was killer.
Yeah I met him in Nashville about 6 years ago at Harris Teeter in Nashville he was wearing a orange amp cap and I asked him if he played orange and he said yeah he told me he was from Blackberry Smoke keep this real nice guy
I was thinking about the fact that the kid will forever remember the day he was there and seen/heard Charlie ripping it up on that Les Paul...that's the kind of memories/experiences that can and will hopefully change/mold young people's lives.
Way to go Charlie, love that fat tone and love that u threw a little mystery out there about Joe that not alot of people know. Great session!! Well done sir!!
Tom Johnson Tom Johnson is the dumbest name ever. You know “Johnson” is slang for “dick”, right? Your parents probably wanted to put “Harry” at the end, but the hospital wouldn’t let them.
Charlie said the Skynyrd guys could stay outta each other's way... I'd like to see Charlie, Paul Jackson and Benji Shanks do the same thing in BBS. 3 super talented players, Paul is the unsung hero he can play tastefully , stay outta the way and he nails all the high harmony. Charlie and Benji can play anything plus play slide guitar like delta blues beasts. They're damn good!
5:47 Free’s “the stealer” - Paul Kossoff and Andy Fraser were an amazing duo but Andy was on bass, and Paul used a SuperBass so their overlap was better than many bands 👏👏
2:30... “Same Old Song and Dance” lick...smooth as it is classy sounding.....Charlie borrowed it at 2:30 in BBS’s “Everybody Know’s She’s Mine”. That lick works perfectly in that tune, one of my favorites by BBS..... Keep cranking out the well crafted music BBS!
Wow so used to hearing him play acoustic strumming he really has some phat licks and incredible sound definitely his own style but once he mentioned joe perry i could here the influence but i still here his own little southern rock flare too it..
Charlie playing some "Combination". Awesome. Best Perry lyrics ever. "Walkin' on Gucci Wearin' Yves Saint Laurent Barely stay on 'cause I'm so god damn gaunt" So funny hearing him talk about using the balance on the stereo to single out Malcolm. I did the same shit. I always loved albums that had good stereo separation in the guitars (and drums like the Allmans first) so you could pick out what each guy was doing.
I seen blackberry smoke in concert more than a few times.Charlie Starr is one of few players that I can watch and pick stuff up just from watching his fingers. Some players just boggle me, I can totally relate to what he's doing.
Put this on and thought 'sounds like my zen drive..'. Then I saw the amp he was playing through (rather nicely) and it made sense. Zen and a twin pretty much nails it. Nice to know. His band are veeeery cool too
The algorithm has put me onto Charlie since I pulled up the Blackberry Smoke version of "Workin for the MCA" - which is a masterful take, by the way.- and for once, I'm damn glad of it.
Oh man, I saw that Trainwreck head. Met Ken Fischer many years ago. Wish I bought one of his amps. I couldn't afford it at the time. He re-tubed one of my Marshalls. He let me play through one of his amps, but I was younger and stupider and was looking for more gain. This sounds so sweet to me now.
I live in the Chattanooga Tn area, and BlackBerry Smoke was supposed to play River Bend this year.. I was looking forward to seeing them for the first time even tho I live in the South, I never had the chance to see them.. Hoping all works out in the near future to hears Charlie and the boys do what they do best.. Live on stage.. Keep the rock and roll going Guys. We will all come out of this smile"n.. Soon I hope..
I hope you get to see them. I got see them play in this real old small venue last year. What a show, it was the best show I have ever seen. And I've seen alot of concerts. BBS playing in that small club was as good as it gets.
I was born in late 1959, and I've opened many different Les Paul's, all Gibsons. I still have one too, BUT..., dang Charlie Starr, you're an effen Bad Ass Dude. And me...I'm a freak, a southern rocker from North Central Michigan. ( Bell, and Harland County Kentucky on my Momma's side of the family, thanx Grandpop)❤🎸😎❤

Great playing Charlie. Rocks was an incredible album. Sounded a bit like the boys were about to come off the tracks, but it all held together. I heard Joe Perry was a Jeff Beck fan. You can hear it on that record especially
This is just so Charlie... honest and amazing; don't know a flying petunias about guitars, but hot damn, this sounds good, so good. OK, can't appreciate the details, but wow, thanks Charlie and Songbirds. Lili Kiki in France. merci
Seen Charlie live so many times and his junior or any of his guitars sound fantastic Guitar helps but its all in the feel and tone and definitely the hands
There is something both unmistakable and special about a Les Paul on the bridge pickup. I almost never leave the bridge pickup when playing any of my Les Pauls. Scatter wound PAF is where its at.

Charlie is such an awesome guitar player. You hear him talking of the 'heroes of old', but I'm thinking he is already one of the greats himself.
And it's not mentioned often enough but, his tone? Good Lord!
Charlie has the magic touch, always a great tone on any guitar he puts his hands on.
No question ... fun to see him play a guitar with humbuckers .. Badass
Charlie Starr keeping blues based rock and roll alive.. Such an amazing musician..
Charlie is hands down one of the best pickers in all of modern music . His influences are plain to see and does he ever let it shine
Fantastic, just fantastic. The player, the guitar
, the amp lol top notch
A '59 LP into a Dumble Overdrive Special with Charlie Starr at the wheel... Now this made my fookin' day!!!
Does anyone have $200K I can borrow? My grandma needs an operation...
Casual trainwreck sitting next to him too. The best kind of flex from this store.

One of the best for me.

I could listen to this guy all day and night
Been playing a decade and still struggle to figure out early Aerosmith songs! This man speaks the truth
I've been a YES fan for over 40 years. But BBS and Charlie Starr just blow me away. Love it - he's such a great guitarist.
Dare to dream.. who among us wouldn’t enjoy eternally playing that ‘simple’ set up..heavenly tone. Charlie piercing my soul right now..wooh..
I can listen to Charlie talk guitars & players for hours! He sure freakin' knows his licks!! Blackberry Smoke ALL THE WAY, BABY!!!
Absolutely nailed Combination…. Wow man! ✌🏼

a jr les paul please,

Charlie is an excellent guitarist, so tasteful with different licks and so fluid in his approach. So underrated 🤘🤘
Wow, Those are some amazing chops and that phrasing is simply beautiful.
Long overdue signature for an amazing musician. Man deserves it for sure.
Fantastic guitarist and composer! Such a mature musician and so underestimated...
